Not sure... Everybody came with his own suggestions.
I had read a lot of contradictory informations:
Here an article confirming that (FR)

Here a Video saying not (FR)

I guess it depends on the operator. Certainly T-Mobile are in partnership with Co-Pilot, as all their WM GPS enabled devices have Co-Pilot on them.

Seems to be confirmed by Modaco

Hmm...The question now, is how comprehensive this "taster" is. If it has "one included city map", which city is it? Will there be a choice of city?

one map= you choose, involves going on their site, getting some code from your phone, a few steps really.... but sadly london didnt include my house so i got rid of it...

That's random. How far does the map of London extend then? Further than the North Circular?

erm i dont know, in terms of the bit near tottenham hale, coming towards me, it got up to the a110, between the reservoirs

Ah...That's good.
I've never been to Tottenham Hale. Or Walthamstow for that matter. I wonder what's there...

acording to that tomtom map Tottenham Hale doesnt exist. Better be carefull you might fall off the edge of the tomtom world :p

To some Londoners, the M25 is the edge of the world anyway. :P

haha yeah your right.
RE tomtom tho, is there a decent map that covers the whole uk? I havnt used tomtom in years n years
rorydaredkign
26th May 2008, 01:07 AM
but tottenham hale is inside the m25... ahhh... that would cause trouble, the end of the world is about 5 miles north of the end of the map!!!:)

yeah uk and ireland/northern ireland
if you dont mind being a bit questionable, you can get it without paying, just to test. thats what i did, didnt like it and uninstalled.
also western europe covers uk obviously...

I don't know, but if there isn't, it would make me wonder just what the people at that company do all day.

Well, I suppose they have to go out occasionally to check that all of the roads on the map still exist.

26th May 2008, 01:18 AM
So whats all this 'city' map stuff? Are they more detailed maps of cities or just cheaper versions of the whole uk map?
I don't mind being 'questionable' :p especially when it costs that much, i'll try it first for sure. I guess there's no 'official' trial then?
rorydaredkign
26th May 2008, 01:30 AM
nope. im guessing you know the place to look? ppc specific im talking here..
anyways off the topic of warez, i dont think the city maps are any different to whats in the full map. maybe its for like americans who come over here with their tomtom and use it to navigate london. easier and cheaper solution to a full map.

It would actually make a hell of a lot more sense to have city maps of cities in America, seeing as that's a huuuuuuuuge place.

there probably are, but seeing as were all from london, we know about the london one.

My point is that we should be forcing the Americans to buy the whole UK map, as punishment for the size of their country.

Do you mean you have a Diamond with TomTom built-in but since it didn't have map coverage for your area you tossed it? If that's the case, makes sense, but did you take a look at the TomTom software? Did you see version numbers for the software and the map?

ok, thanks for clarifying, this whole TomTom thing on the Diamond is the best kept secret I've seen on the internet since 1995, absolutely ZERO information other than Paul from Modaco who says he saw it and has not given any details since...some dude said in Modaco said it could be "found" too...

Has this really been confirmed officially ?

As I said before different operators will offer different packages, even the same operator in different countries will offer different packages.
Some will get TOMTOM 6, some will get TOMTOM 7 some will get Co-Pilot 7 and some won’t get anything at all.
Oh, and people in Germany buying the phone from O2 will get TOMTOM 7
http://shop2.o2online.de/nw/produkte/handys/allehandys/details/index.html?salesChannel=SHOP&articleId=617&categoryId=1120
I’m sure some kind soul will upload their ROM

yapp, how imranbashir_uk wrotes... But seems that tomtom 7 is standalone installed, without maps - means that you can download exclusive the maps from tomtom site (info from O2 Ger Support). In the end of july i extend my contract with o2 and take an diamond. We will see...

Yes the version installed on the review at CoolSmartPhone is TomTom 6.
Which he manually installed.
Mark moons, Country Manager of HTC BeNeLux stated that Tomtom will not be delivered on the Device. But he has information that Navigation Software will be available at or just after the release to the market.
I think this tells us that Tomtom is working on TT7, but they didn't get the software finished in time for production on the HTC Diamond ROMs

Yep... Seems TT6
But strange... the icon and the startup pop up are different from 6.03 and 6.032

It sounds to me like it will be available on at least one rom on some carrier. We can just use that rom in our devices, or extract it from that rom.
I really don't expect to see it in the device i've preordered.

Probably won't be able to buy it separately, so either it ships with the Diamond, which I think it will, or you're toast.

Good evening,
We cannot confirm if the HTC Diamond will be shipped with TomTom as this will depend on the distributor, please contact your distributor prior to purchasing to make sure you receive the item that you desire.

Do you already have Diamond?
I've ordered it and wait for middle of June.
If there's no TomTom can we use version 6 installed on Cruise?

No... I do not have it yet...
And probably, in Switzerland, we will get it later than our neighbors.
No idea about the TomTom.
Also, I do not know if the official GPS softwares (which are usually used to be installed in SD card as tomtom, Garmin, Igo...) can be installed on the internal memory or not.
We have to wait that it came to the market and have feedback from more users.

Hi Cyrus mate..
Tomtom 6 works on the Diamond without any problem.... You see 'Internal memory' instead of a SD Card.. that's it...

On my device the screen redraw is very slow (shocking picture) and the pointer is about 10 meter behind the car.
I received my no provider-branded HTC Diamond yesterday. I'm in the Netherlands, have Dutch OS, but NO TomTom 7.
