The mic on my Tornado is no longer usable. It started by cutting out to an almost inaudible level. Now it stuck that way. I've tried flashing several ROMs and it doesn't help, so I'm pretty sure it's hardware. Any easy solution to replace the mic?

I probably just going to find a $30 2125 on eBay and use the best skin of the 2 with a new MB.

The mic is welded to the motherboard. There is a little rubber housing around it. Chances are dirt has got it's way and has covered a very small hole on that rubber housing and soft sounds can't get thru. Try cleaning it. You'll need to find a guide to open the phone. Its not that dificult. There are few around. Search here or Google for it.
Best Luck

Thanks. I did take it apart and clean te mic are and the rubber gasket. I blasted it with canned air too. It didn't help. I'm pretty sure it's hardware. I'm wondering if replacing the mic component is an option.

You can pick up quick dry electric cleaner in a can at your local auto shop. I used it to clean my joystick when I wasn't getting any response when I hit it left or down and it worked like a charm. It only took a few minutes to completely dry.
