Well, if you took a second to read about some of the people here on XDA Dev's, you'd realize that tupisdin really helps out with making xda dev's what it is. FYI, if you check the Kaiser forum you'll see that most of the officially released (ROM's WWE and other wise) are released by him. He had greatly helped out with xda dev's and is not trying to scam anyone. He actually helping.

Where did you buy your diamond from? where are you located? From your username you seem to be portuguese, as far as I know there are no 850mhz network providers in portugal.

You can find him on other websites too...

By helping you he helps hisself.

1. He attracts people.
2. People think positive about him. (he gains respect, thus he gets more customers)
3. When a device is available and a ROM is not, people won't give attention to their devices.
People don't need to unlock their devices when they don't spend time on their devices.

And I've seen somebody say: "I'd rather pay money to a dev than spending 70 euro's to a pro".

1. Spending money on a pro guaruantees your unlock code.
2. Spending 70 euro's for an unlock code is not realistic: even imei-check asks 18 GBP for it.
3. Spending money to a dev is a good deed, but tupisdin is not a dev ;)

Why do you think that he makes a thread where he tells he can unlock a device before the device is released?

I like tuppy (he's a funny guy) and I feel sorry for the people he scams.

If you want more detail about his scam techniques and stuff, start reading here:

I am not defend him, but if you look at the date when he made the first post of this thread, and the date when he gave us the link to the first diamond ROM ever... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2234338&postcount=1
I believe that he already got the device...

if you cannot get the device at that time, it doesn't mean that no one else cannot get it either...

and please... stop judging people... if he really can unlock the device, it's up to him to charge for it... and at least he put this "This service is not free." in his post...

nobody defends him!... i only said that it's not good to talk bad about someone else... and i gave the fact that most likely he had the device when the first time he claimed that he can unlock it... btw, i just look at your previous posts... and most of it are only cursing about this kind of matter...

i was wondering, will flashing a new rom take care of the unlocking part?

so if i use a valid operator sim (borrowed), to start the phone and flash the rom...will the phone work when i put back my default sim card (which is not originally supported due to sim-lock)?

No I have to agree if everyone starts charging money, the idea of this community is nothing except a commercial place (not the idea intended). I dont think charging money is right...Donations being correctly used (okay) - but it seems lots of donations are not being used correctly as of now. (Moderators may contact me if required).

The service is not free, shouldn't even be put here honestly....rather put a link back to his/her site..no wait thats against the terms of the forum..self-advertising...

I understand the new layer of security is a pain...and "could" be the cause of the problem..but I dont think direct selling or this is paid should be used. Open a shop and continue on...Developers developing to earn profit....hmmm nothing wrong but is that what this community is for..if yes, I take back my comments and "I'm wrong".

You're a newbie, so read other posts of tupisdin and me and collect dates before you start defending (a funny devil).
(I don't know what else you could call it, except for "kissing ass").

This is one of the examples about the relations between "unlocking before release dates" and tupisdin:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=348630

To get more details about me giving my long and boring opinion about tupisdin's way of unlocking,
go to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332180
and:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=339995

And for the other guy who's saying that tupisdin is a genius...

B.T.W. Olipro is one of the most talented unlocker devs on this forum (and we don't like eachother too much as you can see in one of the two threads

I don't want to say much any longer, because I've had long threads about tupisdin and it makes me tired.

But I want to say one more thing. I don't like the fact that you guys are flaming me, because I gave my opinion on someone.
That's why I didn't type formal messages to you guys.

And don't think that tupisdin is better, because he's being defended more than being offended.
Start your own little research and THEN give your opinion, before bullshitting and spending people's time over nothing.

And I need ONE example of a thread to be right.

And you show me that he creates ONE thread after the release of a device and try to tell us that he NEVER does it before a release?

One of the guys I respect (a "made man") has told me a fictive (I say this because you have no brain to understand that I ment it that way) story which I want to tell you guys.

There has been a fire in the woods and an ant took some water in his mouth and tried to put out the fire. The other animals asked him: "Don't you know that you can't put out that fire? Why do you keep trying?"

The ant said: "I know I never can, but at least I try and show my side of the line..."

Now, try to think about that and don't compare me to an ant.

as far as i remember tupisdin asks for $50 to unlock phone. strange price policy, since most of htc devices can be unlocked using just code for $10-$15 on ebay - check for yourself. usually you pay $10 and give to seller your imei - in return you get unlock code in 2-3 days.

TryOG
5th July 2008, 02:10 PM
Just get some phones, tell them to pay you $50 dollars and unlock it at imei-check.

You'll earn $10.

Get yourself a better deal and start selling unlock codes at XDA-Developers.
Everyone can earn money easily on this selling board! :)

I think you've to wait 6 months and Orange should do it for free ...

what do you think about that : http://www.usbfever.com/index_eproduct_view.php?products_id=587

THX for replying,

I've been watching this solution before but i don't think it's going to work ! I've heard about some program that generate an unlock code from the IMEI ! I used one of them to unlock my P3600 !

Did somebody have heard about that ?

Best regards

Xipertwo

TryOG
5th July 2008, 08:28 PM
That's not possible, because the codes are generated randomly.
If such a program exists, it must READ a database with ALL the unlock codes for every device, so that wouldn't be generating.

But, maybe you mean the Wizard Service Tool which can change your IMEI number so you can unlock your device with an IMEI-check unlocker with a unl file corresponding to the IMEI that you've applied to your device?

(I'm sorry for the long sentence...)

xipertwo

The IMEI-number of a phone is an identification number.
It exists of 15 digits.
It's on a label on the back of your phone. (underneath your battery)
You can also get it by typing *#06# on your phone (and don't get the last two digits).
Mostly, it's starting with 35.

And the unlock code? That's what we're talking about in this thread.
It's not free. Just read the first message of this thread and get scammed without any (direct) damage.

WHY IS THIS YOUR PROBLEM??????

TryOG
6th July 2008, 02:02 PM
You guys can't look further than your nose.

There are 2 reasons why I can't take this bullshit.

1: If you pay Greenpeace to "save the world" and they spend your money only on their own benefits, you should understand what I think right now.

2: None of the developers here asked for money a few years ago, but now they are.
They are not the ones to blame, but tupisdin and the ones who let tupisdin ARE.
They started this, now XDA-Developers isn't what it was before.

First it was service, now it's a shop. And I don't feel "social" in a shop's forum

B.T.W. The longer this goes on, the more devs are going to sell their unlock codes.

Olipro, don't get mad at me, I already know you are hard on the outside, but soft on the inside. (Like tic-tac's)

i agree with TRY OG....
if some1 knows how to crack a code ... it should be shared in a social forum like this...
we look up to ppl who do that,,,...
and if not... atleast not make money out of it...
its not a question of paying...i dont mind paying for an unlock... but if some1 here can unlock it ... the service shouldn be charged... jus really sad!!:(

You're right on the "money".

The reason I'm posting this though its connected to another thread is the last few posts here have been talking about the similar issue...open things up for us all ....

Refering mainly to "sim unlock issue" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=394346 (Touch Diamond Project) though the lines in the last few threads here are on the same lines.

I can't really complain since he's a SENIOR COOKER (10 times more senior than me), but I still feel that xda-development is becoming a money making scheme. ( I have mentioned this around before and I have thankfully seen many senior members agree with me)

Actually the guys making the unlocker - "tom_codon" already has it done (supposedly) and are selling it outside (explains the 30 euros)...I had a talk 2 days ago with the unlock cooker (TOM) who clearly said they (his team) were taking the money for team purposes. I even asked whether it was profits they were searching for , and then I asked - Correct me If im wrong. He replies that - you're not wrong.

I believe I have a copy of my chat around somewhere.

I also asked him if he's selling the unlocking system (codes/process) to anyone. He said just a mobile company (dealer).

I then offered to pay for an unlock for a single cell..he refused...

I was planning to get a Diamond but instead switched to Athena (where a few new guys have been adding some kitchens and the issues such as what we have here are not there anymore).

I don't agree. Self Promotion should not be welcome on this community for paid services.

There is no way back to "free service" since payments have already started here on XDA-Developers,
so I think that we should make the best of it.

If there was something like "Pay whatever you want", then I would agree to payment.
For example: Payment is starting from 1 euro to how much the user wants to pay for the unlock code.
(Olipro has something like that for his unlock payment starting from 5 GBP or something.)

That's cool.

That would be more like a donation than tupisdin's $50 standard price.
Or $300 prepayment for 10 devices. ;)

Sometimes things are simpler than you think. After investigating a little, I discovered that you can simply ask the provider for a unlock code, and they will give it to you. My provider is Telenor. In Norway and Denmark it's free of charge. In Sweden, I'm not sure, but if it should be max SEK 350 if they charge (info on their website is a bit unclear). Other providers should have the same deal, I checked TDC as well.

Simple :D

TryOG
8th July 2008, 12:22 PM
It really isn't that simple. SIM-unlocking is, in most of the countries, only free after your subscription has ended and/or a minimum of one year has passed.

There are always exceptions, like: some countries, some "angels" at the helpdesk and social engineering. (Social engineering is "tricking" them to perform disclosure/exceptional actions.)

zaphyr
8th July 2008, 12:43 PM
That is true TryOG. I'm just mentioning it, so ppl at least remember to check with their providers first.

In this case, you actually get free unlock within the first 12 months of your subscription. Telenor has a webservice where you only need to fill in your IMEI and press send. No need to play Mitnik at all there ;)

I think it's a law, I haven't checked, that says the provider can't have you locked to a subscription and sim lock your phone at the same time...in the nordic countries at least.

Fabliv
8th July 2008, 12:53 PM

In the UK most providers will release the code after 3 months for £15.
This isn't quite accurate.
Most UK providers (who lock their phones, 02 don't) will only give you an unlock code (for a fee) after your contract (either 12 or 18 months) is up and not before.

A couple of times Olinex has asked people to PM him which would sugest he is fairly close to coming up with a solution (it's only a matter of time).

As for the question as to whether the unlocker should be free, I'm still waiting for the Diamond to be made available for free - anyone want to donate one?

I doubt that it would be best to use the service here.

i paid for the service before 3 pm yesterday. it is now 11:20 a.m. and I have not yet received the code. Right after I paid the money , the gentleman got offline and has not even answered my messages.

There seems to be a misunderstanding here. In order for the other users and the community to have a clearer picture of what has happened, I have to explain the exact situation in the form of a quick dialogue (this is shortened form of the private messages between me and tupisdin):

me : can u unlcok the diamond? if yes, how much? & HOW LONG?

tupisdin : what's the IMEI?

me: it is xxxxx . HOW LONG does it take?

tupisdin: i can do it; pay $xx

me: ok, i just paid. HOW LONG does it take?

tupisdin: proof plz.

me: here's the proof. PLEASE tell me HOW LONG does it take?

the dialogue ends here. since 3 pm yesterday (up to now which is 8:45 pm here in london) i have not heard a word from tupisdin.

i don't know what to call this way of dealing with people. I leave it to others to judge.

by the way, tupisdin, HOW LONG does it take ?

EDIT: i am going on a trip very shortly and it was/is of EXTREME importance for me to unlock the diamond, and flash a new rom on it and then leave. i always stressed and CAPITALIZED the words HOW LONG in my messages to him and i'm sure tupisdin knew exactly that i was really in a hurry. i wish at least he would have told me that he needed some rest and that he would get back to me at such and such time. but he simply ignored me and left to eat and rest right after he got the proof of payment from me.

Guys, go onto eBay and search for i-smartsim 2008 - or other websites and look for one which sells this product cheaply don't pay more than 5 pounds... this will bypass the phone lock and you can use it with most other phones.

It's a film like device that slips over one side of your SIM which then goes into the phone as normal... doesn't unlock just bypasses lock thus keeping warranty in tact.

I have two and they work amazing. Using 3UK SIM and X-series GOLD on Orange Diamond... "tupisdin" or whatever the gentlemen's name is quoted me $50 thats too much for me I am a student so I looked into an alternative and viola.

The great thing is when we buy our next handsets this device should work as I don't see SIM/USIM architecture changing that much over the next couple of years! No waiting for software - yey. As as always my congrats go out to all people who make this forum what is is and bring us FREE yet superb software and solutions and make our phones what they are - long live the community!

If it was really important and urgent, you should have to ask your provider and paid what it asks to simunlock your device.

my friend, i'm afraid it's not that straightforward at all. i've been with Orange for over 5 years (and more than that with Vodafone). i'm not sure about your network provider, but i can assure you that at least with these UK networks, when u contact them and ask for unlock code, they must get the code from the manufacturer (in this case HTC) and this process takes AT LEAST 20 days. i've done it a couple of times before.

i certainly couldn't wait for 20 days. so i turned to tupisdin (expecting to get it within 2 minutes !). well, 36 hours of that 2 minutes have passed :D and i'm still waiting !

you're absolutely right - and specially for a such a top-dog as HTC_Touch_Diamond (which is selling like crazy and is the talk of the day everywhere in the world). it's impossible that any network provider gives you the unlock code for such a device 2 days after the contract !

i guess our friend Fabliv was exceedingly generous with network providers:p

Self censorship. (maybe some have read my first post and understand why)

This is not a matter i can give a definite answer or solution.

I suggest this is handled personally through PM'

And it's best if tupisdin would disclaim that this does take a SPeCific time for him to help out.

It would have saved some angry posts and people swearing be it to a mod or any other user.

If threads like these, get out of hand, chances are the general handling of these threads might change and force us to moderate differently by not allowing it anymore and close immediately.

I believe tuspidin is acting on good intentions.

And on the stars matter, just do some thinking why he does not have them.
And try to get to a positive conclusion about it.

No, I'm not exceedingly generous, that just because in France, with all provider, you can ask for an unlock code when you need and they give it in a minute.
It cost 60,00 € the first 6 month of the contract and it's free after this delay.

My apologize, cause it's true, I didn't know that it was not the same things in UK. :)

The French providers have an application that can generate the code with the IMEI immediately for each device you bought from them.

If someone steal the phone, each provider can also lock it with the EMEI on their own network.

If a rude uncivilized jerk like youself comes to my support, then I should be deeply ashamed of myself.

I don't need such dirty baseless crap to feel that I"m backed up.

Nobody "ate" my money. I never thought (not even for a second) that my money will be eaten in here. Besides, what I have learnt and received from this excellent community is beyond any amount of money your small brain could even be capable of counting.

I was just furious with tupisdin for his leaving without any proper notice. He finally got back and sent me the unlock code (which worked immediately).

But I'm still very angry with him and this doesn't have anything to do with xda or its mods.

Tom_codon is a very talented chef and a very respectable man whose mere presence is a blessing for this community.

narrow-minded idiots like you must be praying to God 100 times a day for benefiting from Tom's (and other xda devlepoers') knowledge free of charge by just clicking a link and getting lost in a vast ocean of information , excellent free software and precious PDA/WM know-how.

It's quite obvious that such first-class service is unproportionately more than what you deserve or can even perceive the value of.

Since when have HTC been locking their phones? If you have an HTC Diamond and have paid to have it unlocked I could have done it for half the price ;)

I hope people are checking to make sure their phones are actually locked before paying to unlock them.
HTC do not lock their phones. O2 in the UK don't lock them and I'm sure many others don't either.

I forgot that O now sell HTC phones as HTC rather than SPVs!
Before the only way to get HTCs was directy from HTC and they weren't locked.

Me bad. :(

So you still used HTCCode when Cmonex has pointed out that Olipro can do it?

Strange!

htccode.com provides unlock codes. It is the easiest way to unlock and no complication is involved.
