XT9 Language Cabs for Niki

It started with one cab I made for Dutch XT9 on my Dual because I got tired of doing the settings manually after every flash. But now I am planning to make cabs for all the available languages and to make one multilanguage pack with 14 languages in it.

These XT9 cabs will enable the hardware and software Touch keyboard with your language.

Standard keyboard
These cabs will only work with the standard keyboard for the Niki which come with the standard wm6.0 and wm6.1 roms:

EzInput 1.5
In the roms of NemanjaLO and d_train the EzInput 1.5 keyboard is included. The cabs from DupinBJK for the languages work but are missing a couple of registry keys to select the language (which were present in his base package) so I've added them to the Dutch cab. If there are people who want me to add it to the other language cabs please ask and I will upload it here.

I've made a small cab to enable dutch xt9 on the dual. previously I did all the actions manually so this will spare me some time and I like to share it with you all. I've tested it with my Dual and the new Niki Project v2 hardware keyboard enabled off course. I would really like to know if it does work with other roms as well.

This is what it does:

- It puts the following files in the windows folder: 12.nlhpd.kdb, nlhpd.kdb, NLlsUN_xt9.ldb and spd.5x4.Dutch.kdb

I thought it was working... Hmmm, well that's probabely because I didn't had the right file for the hardware keyboard.

I downloaded it from I site but I think it's for another phone. The site was in Danish so I couldn't make a lot of it. Do you have an original file for the dual. The files name is: dahpd.kdb. If you have that one I can give it another try.

I'm downloading the Danish rom from netrunners directory and see if I can get the file out of there. I will report back if I have news.

Update: I've extracted the files from the Danish Rom and put them in the cab. I've tested it on my Dual and it seems to work can you check please? The cab in the startpost is updated.

I will, I am planning to make cabs for all languages. Most of the times the hardest thing is to find the right files and especially the one for the harware keyboard. For norwegian this would be nohpd.kdb. I will have a look for myself see if I can find a Norwegian Rom with the files. But if you can provide it that would be great.

Edit:Will make a swedish also. Found all the files needed in a Danish rom.

What do you mean with the user interface? Do you mean the onscreen software keyboard? If so that is correct since I didn't do anything with the onscreen keyboard. Otherwise please explain what you mean exactly.

I made a new version of the Danish, Finnish, Norwegian & Swedish cabs with the nordic keymap so now the touch software keyboard comes up with the scandinavian letters.

I used the dutch CAB, but now my keypad acts as an 20-key qwerty keypad in dutch instead of a 12-key keypad. Can you fix an 12-key dutch cab?

Hmm that's strange I also have the 12 (16) key version and didn't had that problem. Which rom are you using?

Default WWE ROM. Which came with my dual when I bought it. I did a hard reset this evening, because I was hoping that It'll solve the problems with a not reacting touchscreen. (unfortunately that still happens) and I thought using your CAB was a lot easier then changing the xt9 manually again. Unfortunately I have no resco registry editor yet (that's on my other computer) so I can't check if all settings and files are ok right now.

Well the cab file uses the same registry keys as described in the topic on tweakers (http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1283565).

Ok, I installed resco and checked all registry entries and the files.

I was missing the following registry entries:

I also missed the file nlhpd.kdb in the Windows directory. Fixed the registry keys and the copied the missing file to my touch dual. and after a few curses and some sweet talking xt9 was working fine again ;-)

Nope the file I need is called PThpd.kdb. The Rom you name I've already taken a look in and the file is not there, so the hardware keyboard is not working for xt9 (only types numbers) in that rom.

I am not aware of XT9 for Hebrew but if you can get your hands on a rom for Niki/Dual with Hebrew XT9 enabled on it I can make a cab for it. I can than tell you which files I need to make one or better would be if you can sent me the rom so I could have a look myself.

Yep there is: if you hold the star button on your hardware keypad you get a menu where you can switch languages quite easily.

a feew days ago i've installed that rom to see if the file was there, and i tryed to type a message with the keypad, and it worked for me!!! all letters in the right spot! i don't understand why it didn't work with you...

I've added Greek XT9 to the startpost. Please test it. I'm not able to do it at the moment since I use gullum's diamond rom with the diamond keyboard in it. If someone has the files for the greek software keyboard (the image files) please post them so I can include them in the post.

Can you explain what exactly isn't working. Are the keys mapped incorrectly or doesn't the XT9 work at all or something else?

something strange happens. First of all the letters are not greek at all, I guess the keyboard doesn't switch to greek or, even worse, there's some problems in loaging the kdb and ldb files because when I select greek from the languages menu the current-active language doesn't change to greek at all (in first line of xt9 menu as well). There must be some error in loading the files I don't know. Thanks for your reply and help.

Hi, I asked a friend who have htc touch dual portuguese with XT9 working to give to me that file, but does not exists :( He says only exists eshpd.kdb ;frhpd.kdb ; dehpd.kdb ; enhpd.kdb.

For 20 keys hardware keyboards there is a fix for the Portuguese XT9. They can use the hpd.5x4.portuguese.kdb file for it, but on a 16 keys keypad it gives a 20 key layout.

I can make a cab for the 20 keys version Portuguese if there are people interested in that.

But if you still can let him check the registry keys, maybe it he has some interesting news. If you let him install total commander it isn't that difficult.

Works perfect on the onscreen touch keyboard ... but on my 20key hardware keyboard the greek letters are misplaced and keys @,7,8,9 don't work at all ... it's pretty damn close so pls keep it up !!!

This is my efford to a Greek 20key hardware keyboard for the touch dual ... all capital to support 160 characters in one SMS...

By the way, when I type using your Greek xt9 cab the 160 character count remains available even using small Greek letters ... which is cool ...

These XT9 cabs will enable the hardware and software Touch keyboard with your language.

Until now I have the following language cabs available per language:

And I also have a multilanguage pack available in cab or OEM. 12 languages are included the first seven languages plus English, German, French, Italian and Spanish:

So I've tried the czech.cab but has problems with it on my 16 key version. The letters are not as they should be. For example, when I press 1 (letter a,b,c) on the screen appears letter "e" and so on with other letters. I would give you an advice but has no clue about it :(

Hi all, I have a different but related request:
Could someone please post a Touch Keypad/Keyboard .cab that works not only with these language files but also with hardware keypad of Niki (16 keys if that makes a difference)? I am having some issues with Opal Keypads and this one used to work for me perfectly on stock ROM and my previous ROM also had the good old Touch version, so I'd like that one again :D Many thanks in advance :)

WMN 7 thanks for all your hard work.. is there a way to make one language pack for 2 languages (english&spanish)? my previous phone had the option to use 2 at the time but my new tocuh diamond does not. it is irratating for us spanglish speaking people....

It is possible to make a language pack with two languages. But as far as I know two language cannot be used at the same time. You have to switch with between them while typing. Normally a wwe rom version has 5 languages in it including English and Spanish

Unfortunately those files are not enough to make a Slovak XT9, at least I can't do it with only those files.

I installed that cab over the Tom's Rom, and after testing it in 10 minutes, it works very very good! :D

I will test it just a bit longer, and then, I will install a Rom without keyboard, install that cab you provide in the other thread, install this cab, and then I will report if it works ;)

The portuguese .cab didnt work for me. I have a 20 keys layout, and i´m only getting numbers in the center keys, cant type any letters there.

It works almost flawlessly with my Touch HD and Portuguese language. I just have one little problem. When using the virtual Phone Keypad, keys 7 and 8 don't work. I can still use them to input numbers but when trying to input letters they simply don't do anything.

However I'm really happy with this cab :)

I tried a few searches, but not sure I am using the correct search word. On the shipped rom, if I toggle the "* xT9" hardware key, I can see my selection in the top right corner of the screen. Since I have been using WM6.5, I have no idea what my hardware keypad input is set at. I would appreciate any help or hints on where and for what to search. Thanks

I added an edited version to the startpost of the Dutch Language cab for EzInput 1.5 made by DupinBJK. For me this allows me to select Dutch in the wm6.5 roms of d_train and NemanjaLO who include this keyboard in their roms.

For me only works full qwerty, both phone keyboard and compact qwerty don't work, i can type a button but all letters from the button are greyed and to write it I must hold the button and pick letter I want. Anyone knows where is there problem? any chance for phone keyboard support?

As you can read in the title of this thread "XT9 Language Cabs for Niki" maybe that is the problem.
