I put together these cabs for T-mobile data plans. I have the $5.99 plan so I haven't tested the other ones, but people have told me they work.
the $5.99 cab automatically sets up the proxy.
All the cabs set up connections so that GPRS is not used unless no other connections (WIFI or Activesync) are available.
MMS (for ArcSoft MMS 4.2.8.1 but it probably works for other versions) sets size limit to 600k and will not resize pictures (I think T-mobile limits MMS data to 300k).

Cool, members are always looking for tmob setup cab's!
So, gprs internet2.voicestream.com is part of the 29.99 plan cab?
joemanb
27th May 2008, 12:20 AM
Yes:
29.99 = internet2.voicestream.com
39.99 = internet3.voicestream.com
I think they must've changed prices...

This was the ONLY way I could get the 5.99 t-zones plan to work on my windows mobile 6.1 tilt. Great work man!

the $5.99 cab automatically sets up the proxy.
Well, it half works. Before using your CAB, I couldn't get Opera Mobile 8.65 to connect at all through the proxy on my HTC Touch Cruise. Now, I can make normal connections in Opera through the proxy, but still can't get HTTPS to connect.:( No problems connecting with wifi.
UPDATE 10/29/07: I had occasion to revisit these cabs when my friendly neighborhood IT group screwed up my network connections with some automated script they forced down my phone. After running tmobyjoe599.cab again, things were all fixed. I also had no problems with HTTPS and Opera.

I think t-mobile blocks the port on the $5.99 plan. HTTPS uses port 443. You could try some different ports and if you find one that works, let me know and I'll update the CAB.

The settings for Tmo's proxy are:
HTTP 216.155.165.50:8080
WAP 216.155.165.50:9201
Secure WAP 216.155.165.50:9203
Socks 216.155.165.50:1080216.155.165.50:1080
and this is what my system shows. The Tmo proxy is unauthenticated, so I tried to test against it using my laptop and wifi. Manually setting the FF3 HTTP proxy to 216.155.165.50:8080, and leaving all the other proxy options blank, I had no trouble bringing up HTTPS pages.

maybe it has something to do with the access point (wap.voicestream.com)

That's not really an access point. It's a conventional proxy which serves to restrict most anything but web or mail access, but otherwise doesn't restrict traffic.

Would someone kindly explain what the above cabs are for? I don't want to make any assumptions, but do the cabs provise software to make an unlocked HTC Wizard work as if its a T-Mobile device at the various rate plans - assuming your sim has that plan?
Is the $5.99 the prepaid plan?
I just bought used MDA and am using my prepaid SIM. Having trouble with tzones working - though admittedly it doesn't do much.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I have proxy settings in
settings..Connections....Proxy
should I remove them before applying the tmobyjoe CAB?
what is the "new-inet:1159" proxy server in the Kavana ROM? Is that just rubbish or what?
Also, I don't understand why there are so many proxies and connections. Is there something I can read to understand the relative significance of
"work" "TMobile MMS" "Tmobile Data" "WAP Network" "Secure WAP Network" and "The Internet"
and then the various proxies that route to these various networks?
I don't get why it is so complicated and why I need so many networks and proxies and so on.

Hey everyone. I've added the $5.99 service to my account and I've tried both manually entering the settings and I've tried the CAB for the $5.99 service. No joy...
I can't download email and when trying to browse the web at all GPRS connects, the page tries to load and then I get the following error:
"Error: Requested content
'www.google.com/' cannot be accessed.
You do not have access to the site."
What am I doing wrong?
Also, in the GPRS Settings do I want PAP Auth. or CHAP Auth. selected? It's on PAP Auth.
I live in Denver, CO, if it makes any difference.
Thanks!
EDIT: Interestingly enough it's working now... of course something else had to break, I can't connect to the net via USB now. No biggie, never used that anyway.

jomanb - you are a lifesaver. I have been working on this with T-Mobile for 2 weeks. My internet now works!!!
However, I have a LG KS20 so I'm not sure if your MMS settings loaded. I still can't send or receive MMS. Can you please tell me what your settings are? I have mine set as the following:
MMSC = http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy =216.155.165.050 Port 8080
Access point = T-Mobile US (set by your cab)

I used the tmobyjoe599.cab for the $5.99 t-mobileweb service; but when I go to www.google.com/m on opera or PIE, I get an error pop-up titled "Cannot Connect" with the message "Dialed: wap.voicestream.com. The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings."
Did I do something wrong?

Your MMS settings look alright except
In the MMS proxy change '050' to '50'
the way the CAB is supposed to work is it creates 3 connections:
Direct Connect
T-Mobile US
T-Mobile MMS
And its supposed to setup your MMS access point to T-Mobile MMS
try changing you access point to T-Mobile MMS

Well, tried that but it won't even connect then. Using the T-Mobile US as the access point it does connect and tries to send but they don't go through. T-mobile suggested I use the 9201 port but that didn't work either. They seem to think that it's my phone. I bought it unlocked and (it looks like) unbranded but I suppose there may be something hanging around internally.
If you have any other suggestions I would appreciate it. But at least you got the internet working and for that you are a jewel!!!!

Just connect your phone to your PC via the USB or transfer the file via BTto your phone. Then use your phone's file explorer - find the cab and double click on it. A cab is actually a .exe file. That's it

Thanks for all of your hard work, Joe.
I could not get any of the cabs to install successfully on my Dash (with Rickywatt's v24 ROM).
I haven't been able to locate instructions (that actually WORK) for manually setting these parameters. Are you aware of any text file with the correct instructions and settings either here or on other forums?
Once again, many thanks!

Ultimately, I did. And I had to create the entries just as they said, despite identical entries already in place via Rickywatts ROM. So finally it all works great!:)
The final answer: Follow the T-Mobile Configurator steps exactly as written.
Now, if I can just get that d@mn MyFaves/MyFive thing working.....

Just bought one myself and mms not working for me either. Thanks
Mine works sporadically. Funny thing is that if I do a factory reset it works fine for about an hour. Then I start reloading my apps and continue to send mms after each app. It works. THEN after an hour or 2 - nothing. Wifi works fine all the time. E-mail too. So I finally gave up and just send pics via e-mail. I even created an xml based on one of the auto profiles that came with the phone (mine came from Hong Kong so they were all Asian profiles). The xml works for everything too but mms is still a mystery. I have to believe it's a T-mo problem.
I did run across a new APN on Howardforums (epc.tmobile.com with no proxy) but I could not get it to work at all yet. Will test more tomorrow.
If you find an answer please let me know.

Hey, so Ive had the Hermes for a while and ive never had my mms settings working correctly, Ive used both the connection setup (which sends the mms 8% then quits) and the tmobyjoe2999 (which puts in the internet2 access point when it should be wap.voicestream.com) and the MMS doesnt work at all. I live in arizona, I dont know if that makes a difference as to which access point I need to use but Im currently using the joshkoss HEX 6.5 which has the newest version of arcsoft MMS. I just need to find a fix for this, cause its damn annoying. Please help! =D

I just asked for the $5.99 t-mobile web for my wife's Diamond. On my phone I am still using their old t-zones service and haven't had any problems yet.
I had to use the tmo599.cab from this site to get the diamond to work with my wife's sim card for some reason. It worked fine in normal settings with my sim.
The tech at t-mobile store couldn't get internet working with his sim card either, But at least this site helped me get it working:).

I found that just running the setup CAB isn't quite enough. If there is something munged in the registry's config, running tmobyjoe599 may not fix it. See this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3620520#post3620520).

I used these when my Uni had wm5 and it worked great. I updated my uni to Tomal's wm 6.1 and then eventually got around to trying these cabs and they do not work. Has this world for anyone else with wm6, or are there other cabs, or another procedure available? I did download the MMS cab that Tomal has listed.
Tomal version: TML871_WM61_21028_REGULAR_64MB.exe
MMS: ArcsoftMMS_5_0_29_TML.cab
I accidentily tried the 29.99 one first, but then the 5.99 one (the 5.99 one worked for me on wm5)
Some of the network parameters and settings were greyed out, so that's why I think the 5 vs 6.1 difference matters.
Any other help would be much appreciated as well.
Thanks!
**********07-31-2009 update**********
Ok, so I think I have it working. I have sent one and received one. (I also just sent a few more)
Yesterday I did a hard reset, ran the arcsoft cab, and tried it. no go.
then I tried JoemanB's config cab (5.99). no go.
(I think I went to sleep at this point)
sometime this morning, I tried the Network Config program.
I turned the phone to flight mode to isolate it to show off some program I made (Garage door opener) to a friend at work, and when I turned it back on I realized that 3G mode was set to off. I turned that on and so far I have been able to send and receive a few texts.
Oh, and yesterday I played around with my t-mobile and set my phone from some flip phone to undefined, and today I changed it to a T-mobile MDA.
Lots and lots of changes. Too many to know which one was the one that made it work. *sigh*
Are there any MMS networking guides out there? In looking for answers I find lots of the same question, but not so many answers. As of a few hours ago i still didn't have data access for whatever reason (I think its billling tho), which I used to have first and then had to worry about MMS. Gah this is frustrating with all the guessing and no where to turn to for hard answers.
Advanced Windows mobile networking for dummies perhaps?

where do you download cabs to?
where do you unpack files to?
which ones do i need to download to get my internet and mms working?
is there a step by step guide on this forum? i been searching all day.
thanks for your help in advance
You just throw the cab file on your memory card - go into the "File Explorer" to where you put the cab file - click on the file and it will install - and your done
