i think you must copy all resized picture in windows folder. but have you created a cab installation file from packages or you are working on beta cab?
EDIT if you are working on manila beta you must copy all picture in \program files\manila\htc\images or something like this...

after installation this is my today...
the htc logo is'nt a background but i think it's a starting image of manila application: if i tap on the screen the device stop (not freezing) as when it's charging...
now the problem is to resize the images cause the qvga images posted some days ago seems to not work...

i don't care if it is a waste of my time or not. it is my time and this is a challenge for me. i spend my time the way i want to. i chose to see if i and others helping me try and crack manila before manila cracks me.
i have been told my whole life that i would never complete anything.
when someone tells me that it makes me work harder to prove them wrong. this is one of those times. it will be cracked or i will die trying. this is my promise.

maybe this is just what we need to kickstart the drivers ;)
who knows? maybe there is a way to patch the diamond drivers to work on our devices then touchflo 3d will just fall right into place once we have qvga images that work properly.
(also, in regards to the diamond if i can go offtopic for one second) does anybody else think that the diamond is not THAT great of a design. i think i could scratch that thing just by looking at it, its that glossy. IMO i would have preferred a design style similar to the kaiser, but thats just me :)

Given:
The Diamond has the same MSM7201 chipset as the Tilt, and includes drivers that use the 3D acceleration features of the chipset.
There is also a large, active community of developers who "cook" roms, so identifying the drivers and dll's that perform 3D acceleration is straightforward.
There is an open source Linux implementation of the MSM7201 3D drivers for Android.(http://git.android.com/?p=linux-msm.git;a=tree;f=arch/arm/mach-msm)
Finally, there are lots of people who are passionate about seeing the drivers available.
It just seems to be a matter of a short time before true 3D video drivers are available for the Kaiser and others, based on re-engineering the Diamond drivers.
Who here is working on this?

me and idsk are working on touchflo 3d.
while working on this i found a lot of new stuff like qtv.dll and qtv_mpeg4.dll. they help out a lot on my tilt. now if them improved 3d acceleration i have no way to test.
also by intalling the updated touchflo from diamond my opinnion - my tilt doesn' freeze up nor loose my touch screen response for 2 to 5 secs.
i am thinking on fooling with the diamond dialer but first is touchflo 3d.
anyone know a good way to open a dll file to modify pm me with that info please.

Who is working on reengineering the Diamond drivers?
The reason I ask is that I might be willing to volunteer some time to work on this. I don't want to duplicate someone else's efforts, though.
I am a Windows Video Driver developer, and have been doing reengineering projects for a loooong time. (I helped write the first Phoenix BIOS by reengineering the original IBM PC.)

I'm sure I could, but I'm looking for a hobby, not a job. :)
For a commercial application, you might have worry about copyright laws. Sometimes you would have a group of engineers documenting the system you are reengineering, and a "clean room" group of developers developing the new drivers based on that documentation.
I'm no copyright expert, but even what we do here has copyright implications. We are working here under the assumption that using firmware releases for new versions of the hardware is fair use for older versions of the hardware. I feel comfortable with that because it is to HTC's advantage to have developers here support their customers at no cost to HTC.

I've been thinking about digging into this, but people around here aren't that friendly. Whenever I've tried to ask questions, I've gotten condescending answers. I haven't even been able to figure out who here, if anyone, is working on porting the drivers.
I have started reading the Android drivers and documenting the Qualcomm/ATI IMAGEON hardware in the MSM7201a chip. I have been able to do enough tests, so far, to know that - contrary to some rumors from HTC - the hardware definitely exists in my 7201a-based Tilt.
The trick will be to port the DirectDraw and DirectX/Direct3D drivers and dll's to QVGA. I'm not even sure what interfaces TouchFLO 3D uses... and it doesn't look like anyone around here is willing to provide any information to a newbie.
So, while I'm sure I can do the work... I'm not sure it is worth the hassle. Did I mention that people around here don't seem to be all that friendly?

Hi aonanodad :)
I have no doubt that a person with your knowledge and experience will be of HUGE help to this project. When I read your your 1st post it gave me more hope that we will see a QVGA TouchFlo 3D version soon :)
Here is the deal, I followed this thread with great interest and it seems that the ONLY person on this thread who is working on the issue is herg62123, and he mentioned that he is getting help from another guy in France, idsk.
So kindly aonanodad don't give up yet and try to PM aonanodad and definitely you will get a response.

So, while I'm sure I can do the work... I'm not sure it is worth the hassle. Did I mention that people around here don't seem to be all that friendly?

Who is working on reengineering the Diamond drivers?
The reason I ask is that I might be willing to volunteer some time to work on this. I don't want to duplicate someone else's efforts, though.
I am a Windows Video Driver developer, and have been doing reengineering projects for a loooong time. (I helped write the first Phoenix BIOS by reengineering the original IBM PC.)
I PM:d you with some names. :) Hope that helps! dunno if those guys are up to anything anymore, but its worth the try.

I've been thinking about digging into this, but people around here aren't that friendly. Whenever I've tried to ask questions, I've gotten condescending answers. I haven't even been able to figure out who here, if anyone, is working on porting the drivers.

haha yeah some of the members here are (understandably) snappy when it comes to helping people out... but you have to understand that 90-95% of people that come on here asking questions are things like "what is a ROM" or "is my radio broken? I can't hear howard stern".. so it's very difficult for them to filter out the people that may actually be able to be of service. But trust me, if you can crack our drivers... you'll be instantly elite.. anyone that can help you with this project has most likely already read this post and will be contacting you soon with information. I'm in the hollywood CA area if you're close I can offer help.

There are approaches, but how quickly this thing can get up and running might depend on what interfaces TouchFLO 3D uses. For example, it might be easier to replace the Direct3D driver with a new driver that implements the Drect3D interface on top of the OpenGL driver from Android. Porting Android's OpenGL to Windows Mobile is helped by the fact that the Android code is open source.
But I would want to decompile the Diamond DirectDraw and Direct3D drivers first, and try to document them. It is possible that the same programmer who wrote the INFINEON Android driver for ATI also wrote the Direct3D driver, so there could be similarities. Often the lowest level code that configures the hardware registers is common, and could give a hint about what needs to be changed to configure the screen size for the Diamond Direct3D drivers.
Most likely Qualcomm did not write the INFINEON drivers - they paid ATI to provide the drivers to them. That is why HTC cannot easily provide the drivers for older hardware - ATI is more interested in selling hardware than in selling drivers. ATI has little interest in making the changes, however minor, and having to test and maintain those drivers for hardware they have already sold. And HTC and Qualcomm don't really understand the concept of providing new software for old phones. A phone is something that people buy, subsidized by a service contract, that they use for two years until the contract runs out. Then they sell the old phone on eBay and get a new subsidized phone.
Apple understands that it ain't the hardware that will make them rich - it is the software. So, until these disposable handset makers figure out they are building an application platform instead of a phone, Apple is going to eat their lunch.

hmmm sounds like you know about 100x more about the topic than I do.. lol.. but if you want to rip apart the diamond rom it is available here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=394985
it has been proven that using some of these drivers signifigantly increases the performance on our phone but not to the full potential by any means... hopefully one of the guys that have been working on this for a while will get a hold of you soon.. let me know if you think I can help somehow.

Very good work!!!
im now testing and:
* on my tytn II, as you can see in screenshot all tabs are working and much of these run correctly and not so slow given that the prog is in vga mode.
* touching the screen left to right or right to left tabs changes...
* thinking that images in the cab were in vga mode ive copied all images in qvga in all directories, but nothing changed.
* ive been installed diamond album wich works perfectly with image tab: setting an album as default, the tab show correct images!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
resizing the images in qvga mode and setting all dll to work in this mode i think that the program works well!

hey herg.. I'm running into a couple of issues with what I've got so far.. Are you having the calander pop up when clicking anywhere on the screen? This may be related to the size of the links still being VGA so that almost anywhere on the screen links to the calender instead of what it should.. also I can't seem to get the other tabs selected by touching them. I've also been trying to utilize the 3-d driver included in the file pack that was uploaded yesterday, but I can't seem to figure out how to activate it... I have the feeling that if we get that driver running properly we might be able to kick up the FPS signifigantly. Let me know the latest, I might not be able to come back on until late tonight but when I can we'll work on it some more. If you wanna send me a beta of what you've got, I can see if running it on one of the newer roms with diamond drivers partially installed will make for some better numbers... I'll PM you my email.

i have a popular rom cooker on board now. i haven't asked yet but i will ask him to cook us up a rom that might be more suiting for manila to run better on. i have sent him a request for certain apps to be installed in it. i think this will help better control and/or use of manila.
Ahh,,,thats cool then, hopefully even if you guys can get around 10fps , then I guess it would be useful.Anyhow,,,,wish u good luck with the work

Herg, I almost left this site because of all the foolishness that shows up on here until I read this! I'm not a developer or anything cool like that, but I'll be glad to test or whatever you need, dude...thanx for all the hard work! :-)

i don't care if it is a waste of my time or not. it is my time and this is a challenge for me. i spend my time the way i want to. i chose to see if i and others helping me try and crack manila before manila cracks me.
i have been told my whole life that i would never complete anything.
when someone tells me that it makes me work harder to prove them wrong. this is one of those times. it will be cracked or i will die trying. this is my promise.
I have to say again, you guys are rock stars!!

I Found the 3d OPENGL ES drivers who are working with the TF3D qvga.
the link for Kaiser and Nike is: Kaiser 3D Driver (http://www.htcclassaction.org/download/HTC-CA-Kaiser-Drivers.cab)
it works with tf3d with almost no lag but i'm running a beta version. In this version everywhere is IDS_<link name>, is there a newer version of tf3d
or an update or something? Also the music and pictures tab don't work.
(sorry for my bad english)
I hope you can use the 3d drivers.

Where do we stand right now with this? It seems like everyone is going in all directions at once, reinventing the wheel so to speak.
Is there a combination of things that works? Which rom? Which cabs? Etc.
Can someone post how they got manila 3D going?
(BTW i'm not even sure IF anyone did get it going. I'm just assuming SOMEONE did)
