If you're new to Windows mobile and don't have an idea how to make it work you should stay away from this modification. I won't help you anymore!!! :-)
Features:
- Portrait and landscape mode (5 and 6 tabs can be used perfectly)
- White and black clockfaces
- Diamond theme file with original colors
Installation:
1. Download zip file
2. Deactivate HTC Home (Settings/Today/Items)
3. Copy all files from empex_Diamond_graphics to your device's /Windows folder
4. Active HTC Home (Settings/Today/Items)
5. Copy empex_Diamond.tsk to /My documents
6. Apply theme file (Settings/Today/Appearance)
To change the clock to the black one, repeat steps 1 to 2, then copy the files from empex_BLACK_Diamond_clock to /Windows and repeat step 4.
I've made some new icons for ringtone profiles (see the picture above). Download "empex_profiles.zip"
HHC pack:
Unpack the zip and copy all subfolders from that to the same subfolder in your device's HHC/FILES folder.
Cheers
Empex

There's an other font face created by lpaso http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392998
but that is also different from the original.
No chance to make the original one, so you just have to use what you can find.

Okay. You can find many diamond skins on this forum.
Mine is just one of them, with some little differences make it more similar to the original one (except the clockface ;-).
1. Deactivate HTC Home (Settings/Today/Items)
2. Copy all files to /Windows
3. Active HTC Home
4. Copy Diamond_v2.0.tsk to /Windows
5. Apply theme file (Settings/Today/Appearance)
You can use other clock faces from different diamond skins if you don't like this one.
And you can make a HHC pack if you want to.
Cheers

Of, course. Here it is.
By the way I can tell you how to get the background picture out from a tsk.
- Change the tsk extension to cab
- Extract the cab file (with file explorer or total commander)
- You will have some files like this TDYWAT~1.001
- Change the extension of the file to bmp or png and now you have the background as an image file.

Also tried different ways to make the original clockface but couldn't get any good result.

Regarding the .tsk file; is the highlight colour green?
Yes, when you press a menu button then it has a green highlight.
(That green color is also comes from the original diamond graphics :D)

Personally I don't use Wireless switch, but maybe someone will like it.
For a better match to the original, you should use the button background I attached.

this is the best theme so far, very good job.
I've got a issue with landscape mode, the background doesn't line up correctly and for some reason there is black line running thru the active button when in landscape. ANy fix for these issues would be greatly appreciated.

My selected buttons don't pop out like yours do (meaning, they don't get taller when they're selected). I believe I followed the instructions properly, is there something else that enables that feature?

The horizontal grey bar on the background doesnt seem to line up with the home icons. It is to far up. the thing horizontal lines at the top of the bg are not visible either, probably under the start bar.

I used ThemeGenCE, you can download it from here: http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Themes/ThemeGenCE-22508.shtml
For the flat bars in ThemeGenCE, go to WM5 tab and press the "Keys+" button to change the colors. Color_SoftkeyFlatCenter is the bottom bar
Color_TitleFlatCenter is the top bar

cool on the landscape mode....
Actually I've started using another Diamond theme that's also some excellent theme work (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=394206). The main difference is that this other theme doesn't rely on the today wallpaper to add the design of the Home plugin. You should incorporate your wallpaper design into the HTC Home Background so that it can be used via HHC.

I don't really care about hhc, since i never use it. i tried to make my theme as close to the original as i can and it needed to involve the wallpaper. so i think i keep this way. i try now something with the clock and hopefully that would look better than the recent ones. that's also a few days.

Hello there!
I've created a landscape-friendly version of my theme. You can download it from the first post (Diamond_v2.1.tsk.zip). No need to change all the graphics, only the tsk file.
Choose all 6 tabs active for the htc home because it's the best view for the buttons.

You can use other clock faces from different diamond skins if you don't like this one.
And you can make a HHC pack if you want to.

Now landscape mode is supported and you will have the Diamond styled Start menu in the attached Diamond_v2.1.tsk file.
For the landscape mode it's best if you choose all 6 tabs active.

Hello!
I have the theme file from the diamond rom but i made my theme in an other way.
There's a program called ThemeGen CE that is used for making tsk themes. There are options to set your own color for almost every element of a theme file. So I set this green color there for the selected text. The start menu's texture is from the diamond theme file. It's a picture that i used as start menu background.

Yes, I think ThemeGen is much better, becuase it runs on your PC and makes tsk files. UI tweaker is an application that must run on your device and so it needs space and memory and doesn't make a theme file that you can share with other people (as i know).

Yes, I am using a Touch Cruise. I will see if I can take a screen shot.
The only thing that is not part of your theme is the clock, whcih i copied only the clock graphics from someone elses theme. I think it was still broken before hand.. no big deal, reflash device anyways and waiting for your updated theme anyhoo whenever that comes out.
You ca see how the back ground does not show all the lines at the top, also the bar behind the home icons is not lined up, as wel the background looks a bit smushed, you can see double lines or something between the grid.
Igore the red battery gauge at the top, I just installed that.

very strange. it seems like your device aligns the wallpaper to the highest point of the screen. the background has to start under the upper black bar. try my new tsk from the first post. if it doesn't help then please tell me and i'll try something else.

The AM/PM is transparent but the alarm (and also the seperator between the numbers) cannot be transparent because it has to cover the right side of the last clock number. This clock is made for a black diamond background.

The AM/PM is transparent but the alarm (and also the seperator between the numbers) cannot be transparent because it has to cover the right side of the last clock number. This clock is made for a black diamond background.
i really like your new clock but you think you can make it higher?
it looks a little funny.

I like how the numbers are together now just as the Diamond interface has them, but they seem like they are too far apart when compared to the real diamond.

I agree, please try to make it (almost) exactly like the original, white clock with black numbers, and the high gloss effect on the upper and lower edges of the white flip clock. than it would be perfect. btw; your work is great:)

Okay. You can find many diamond skins on this forum.
Mine is just one of them.
1. Deactivate HTC Home (Settings/Today/Items)
2. Copy all files to /Windows
3. Active HTC Home
4. Copy New_Diamond_theme.tsk to /Windows
5. Apply theme file (Settings/Today/Appearance)
You can make a HHC pack if you want to.
**********
Edit #1
Now landscape mode is supported and you will have the Diamond styled Start menu in the attached New_Diamond_theme.tsk file.
For the landscape mode it's best if you choose all 6 tabs active.

Edit#2
New Background and tsk (little changes only)

Edit#3
NEW CLOCK FACE!
It's impossible to make the original Diamond clockface for this old htc home plugin, but so this is what I could make.
You can use it in HHC also.

Edit#4
BLACK CLOCKFACE for those who like it! (i think it looks better ;))
I also modified the white one, so you can download it again if you want to.
Cheers

please try it again:
- go inside the NEW_BLACK_Diamond_clock folder that you have downloaded and copy all files from there (17 files)
- deactivate the home plugin in your device (Settings/Today/Items)
- paste the files to the device's windows folder
and it must ask you to replace the original files - you say yes.
then activate back the home plugin and your clock must be the black one

sir, you've done a clever and meticulous job.
the green color is indeed soothing and one-of-a-kind :) (you said you got it from the original Diamond theme, right?)
i like the green very much but, technically speaking, is there any tweak through which one can have a custom color instead of the green ?

hello there!
yes it's possible to change the green. not a tweak, but some editing of the tsk and the graphic files.
the start menu's green selection is stored in the tsk theme file. you can edit that with ThemeGenCE program. open my tsk theme and go to wm5 tab and change the color of the "Color_Highlight" to the color you'd like to have.
the selections of the icons and whatever in the home plugin are just png files. you can edit them with photoshop (basically you can change their hue value or you can paste back the white highlight fromthe original home plugin)

I just try to help anytime can ;)
Go to the Options tab and at the Theme format section you have an other Options button. Push that and choose QVGA P + L and push Validate. Then under the „Theme format” you see Tsk. Choose the first option (O + Inf). After that you set the directory for the output file: go down to the lower side of the program and set dir name, and file name. When you’re done just go up to the iconbar and choose the fourth icon (Create theme on the PC). After you push it your done!
Hope everything works!

empex,
I don't want to take advantage of your kindness and ask you silly questions beyond your own theme. but i've been struggling for some time to see if (with ThemeGenCe) i can take the wallpaper out of a theme and i couldn't. so i allowed myself to ask you.
here's this theme called Rubik (that i'm sure you've seen it) and i'm only interested in its wallpaper (the bigger one) but i don't know whether such an action is possible at all. i couldn't do that.
i understand that in your own theme you have changed the original diamond wallpaper (a shot of the same wallpaper at a closer range - very smart indeed). but the problem with both the original and your altered black diamond wallpaper is that you should look at it only indoors (it's completely blank in daylight outdoors). so i was thinking of testing your theme with rubik wallpaper - which i couldn't find it anywhere except in rubik theme.
if the answer is complicated please ignore this post.

hello!
it's absolutely not a silly question, and the answer doesn't take more than my morning coffee ;)
so:
1. rename rubik.tsk to rubik.cab
2. extract cab file -> you will have 3 files from that
3. rename tdywater.001 to tdywater.bmp and now you have the rubik picture in bmp format
4. you will have to resize or crop the image since it's too big for qvga
5. go to themegence and push the button with the mona lisa face (that's the option for wallpapers where you can set today and start menu pictures both portrait and lanscape mode)
6. the first icon with the camera is "load an image" so you can load your rubik bmp to today image, and load the same or different image for start menu
7. after setting each wallpaper you have to push the floppy icon for save, and finally you push the last icon says "Back to main form"
8. then you are at the same things we talked about yesterday, so you can create your theme now!
have fun! ;)

well, my dear teacher,
for the time being, and just as an early experiment, i changed the Today images of your theme (both portrait and landscape) and the highlight color (from green to teal). so practically, it's your own theme with different today images.
but the good news is that you taught me how to make themes (i can now change anything and customize a completely new theme of my own). this is so valuable and dear to me - as valuble as "knowledge" is.
you taught me how to weave the net and now i can take as many fish as i like :p

May I suggest another way to do the same ?
Launch in ThemeGenCE (http://www.codeppc.com/telechargements/themegence/themegence.htm)the theme you want to edit
Open ThemeGenCE (http://www.codeppc.com/telechargements/themegence/themegence.htm)folder (where the program is) and you will find images of the theme depending on the theme format and the use of the registry key UseStartImage :
stwater.gif for Start image, tdywater.gif for Today image
or stwater_240_320.gif and tdywater_240_320.gif
or stwater_320_240.gif and tdywater_320_240.gif
or stwater_480_640.gif and tdywater_480_640.gif
or stwater_640_480.gif and tdywater_640_480.gif
NB : extension is gif (that's what I use with ThemeGenCE (http://www.codeppc.com/telechargements/themegence/themegence.htm)for easier programmation because Desktop Windows - XP, Vista..- and Windows Mobile does not care of the extension. Operating system recognize image format ! even it is bmp, png or jpg)
So you can copy the images and reuse them in ThemeGenCE (http://www.codeppc.com/telechargements/themegence/themegence.htm)for making your own theme. In the Images Tab, do not forget to set the good interpolation mode if you want to resize an image, for example from VGA to QVGA.
See the helpfile which comes with the zip of ThemeGenCE (http://www.codeppc.com/telechargements/themegence/themegence.htm)(ThemeGenCEEn.chm) which must be in the same folder than ThemeGenCE (http://www.codeppc.com/telechargements/themegence/themegence.htm)if you want to invoke contextual help on an item (by right clicking) when you run the program.
Hope this help you. And have a look to the tutorial here : http://pagespro-orange.fr/BenThon/TutoThemeGenCEEn/TutoThemeGenCEEn.htm

I am using the old diamond theme where landscape does not work. I want to install the landscape fixed version but use this old portrait (attached) graphic as my Sprint Home fits it nicely.
I'm sure this is possible but my procedure was all wrong somehow. I extracted the tsk after changing it to a cab with winrar. I replaced the graphic (portait) file originally named tdywater.001 to TDYWAT~1.001 and rar'd it up than changed extension to .tsk. This didn't work. Any info to get me pointed in the right direction would be appreciated. If someone could do it would be great, but I would like to know the process, and/or do it myself.

I have attached the .png I am currently using to get the portrait view in my current theme. As stated in previous post, I am trying to use the attached png for the fixed landscape theme from post 1. I am trying to use Theme Generator...Unsuccessful and frustrated now.

If someone could do it would be great, but I would like to know the process, and/or do it myself.
hello!
there's a step by step guide in the post #136 (in the previous page) if you follow that than i'm sure you can do it ;)

The Diamond theme has a bright green color for highlighted item. I feel it is a bit out of place with the whole Diamond theme. Perphaps a darker green/blue or grey would suit the theme better. Of course I understand when it comes to design it is quite personal.

hello there!
yes, it's quite a personal thing, but also it can be easily modified. you can find a the selection png images in my folders and just change the hue/saturation values in photoshop and you can come up with any color you want to. it's real freedom :D

Hello,
First I just want to say your theme is AWESOME!!! I love it, you are a Diamond Picasso!
I used it for about 3 days on the Dutty's [apr 29] Hybrid v2 and I noticed that when I open a few programs and do screen rotate or just use the "x" to minimize them(yes, it's set to "long push X to close"), or even when starting a new one - all or all but 1 of the started programs disappear(crash?). It took me about 2 days to suspect it's your theme and about half an hour to verify. Now it has been 2 days since I changed it to default theme and programs stopped disappearing.
Any idea why is that happening? Because I would really love to use your theme (it rocks!). Thanks in advance!

Hello there!
It sounds very strange. But it's hard to believe that this problem is caused by the theme. This Diamond theme is nothing but some graphic files that you put in your windows folder. So i don't think it can crash or modifiy programs or the working of a rom.
You should ask Dutty, he knows much more about roms than me ;)

First of all this the best theme I've ever seen, congratulations...
I have a minor problem, everything seems to be working ok however when go into a menu (or folder like "programs") the X icon on top right becomes the old HTC touch grey X icon. Is it suppose to be like that ? I think it should be black, but I am not sure, any help is appreciated.
Furthermore, I have another question. May be the first issue is related to this one. When I try to copy the the files my windoes directory I get an error message (something like that: your memory is unsufficient, or you dont have permission) I chected properties of the files I have to overwrite they look as read only and I cannot change this option. It is uneditable (grey). Therefore the only way I could make this theme work was installing cap. How can I overwrite these files ? May be I have to this to correct X icon.
thanks

If you guys are having so many issues, just install this. It already contains all his new images he updated today and also it's the latest version of Home.
Your welcome.
Alex
EDIT: Forgot to mention this cab is for the white clock face like the Diamond.
I installed the cap w/o any problem however I have some issues with weather panel. I edited location name and code via resco registry changed it to the city I live in. It seems to work at the beginning however whenever I click on the city name on weather panel my home city name dissappears and I can only see Bakersfield, US in the panel. I checked the xml file, it seems to be ok. There are lot of citites including my home city in the xml file but I can only see BAkersfield on the list. I am little confused here.

Hello!
The truth is that i don't yet know how to modify that X button, but i'll look after it. I think it's not impossible (usually these things can easily be modified ;-)
For the second question, I think the only problem is that if you don't deactivate the Htc home plugin at the Settings. If you do so, the png files can be changed perfectly.

Thanks for the info empex. I'll wait the outcome of your efforts for the X button.
I solved the second issue, I was trying to copy the files via windows xp, however I should have used resco at first place.
My only problem is about the weather panel now, eventhough the xml file is ok (it includes whole list of major cities) I can only see Bakersfield on weather panel menu if open city selection menu. I think it has something to do with the cap file, but I don't know how the fix it. I think, somehow I should link that menu to this file HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml.

I think if you had a HTC Home on your device, you should remove that cab you have installed, because it causes the problem.
So, remove the cab, and repeat the procedure that solved the copying issue. i think it'll be okay.

I tweaked the AM/PM images and included them here in a zip file.
Basically the AM and PM images would touch the edge of the clock numbers which kind of bothered me. I basically just created a new AM/PM image with a slightly narrower font that keeps its distance from the numbers.
You might have missed this empex as I noticed you don't use AM/PM generally in your localized settings.
Thanks for the sweet themes!

okay, first you have to know that this theme only works if the HTC Home Plugin is installed on your device. If you have that plugin you should upload or send me the following image files (listed in the attached text file) from your /windows directory and then I can modify them to the diamond style.

Okay, if it is small on your display, then you have a QVGA home plugin, and so my theme works for you. Just find the files i told you (it can be in the \Windows directory or in \Windows\HTC Home directory) and replace them with my files. You can find the files and the installation steps in the first post.
Please tell me if it works.

Features:
- Portrait and landscape mode (5 and 6 tabs can be used perfectly)
- White and black clockfaces
- Diamond theme file with original colors
Installation:
1. Download zip file
2. Deactivate HTC Home (Settings/Today/Items)
3. Copy all files from empex_Diamond_graphics to your device's /Windows folder
4. Active HTC Home (Settings/Today/Items)
5. Copy empex_Diamond.tsk to /My documents
6. Apply theme file (Settings/Today/Appearance)
To change the clock to the black one, repeat steps 1 to 2, then copy the files from empex_BLACK_Diamond_clock to /Windows and repeat step 4.
I've made some new icons for ringtone profiles (see the picture above). Download "empex_profiles.zip"
HHC pack:
Unpack the zip and copy all subfolders from that to the same subfolder in your device's HHC/FILES folder.

Hello Guys!
If it doesn't work for you that's probably because your HTC Home plugin is not installed in your devices' root folder (\Windows) but in an other location. It can be \Windows\HTC Home. Please try to find HTC Home folder in your devices and copy the files from Empex_DIAMOND.zip to that folder. Replace original files. You should make a backup copy of your original files in case you want to change them back later.
Hope it helps you.

Okay!
The first thing to make this work is if you have a working HTC Home plugin :)
If you have it then you should run a search on your device to find the neccessary graphic files. For example: HH_HOME_0.png
That's the digit for zero. If you find this file than you found the folder of your home plugin and you're ready to change all the files that have to be changed.
You probably have more copies of those files, because i think you copied them to more places. So you have to find the original one.

Okay, i see what's the problem: HTCHomePlugin.cab is the setup of the Home Plugin. So first you have to install the home plugin. Run that cab file. That will install home plugin on your device and then you can follow with the customization.
My diamond theme is just a replacement of graphic files - it doesn't work without a home plugin.

First off, big thanks to empex for the work he put into this. I grew up with the flip clocks of the '70s and really dig that classic, nostalgic look.
However, I got a problem. I'm having the same problem that Harnec had back in July. I'm unable to copy the files to my \Windows dir on my Touch. Every time I do, I receive the following message:
Error:
Make sure your mobile device has sufficient memory, that the file is not set as read-only, and that you have permission to copy this file type.
The files show as being RO but grayed out. I did try Resco explorer, but only a registry editor and Today plug-in were installed when I downloaded the trial version from Resco. I may have completely missed where a "file explorer" type application was installed, but I didn't see it.
I was able to copy the empex_Diamond.tsk to /My documents successfully. So I'm ready to go there.
I'm stuck and I REALLY want this mod. Did I miss something completely obvious? Any ideas?
Thanks!

Yes, not only did I deactivate it, I even switched to a completely different scheme, ie. WinMo 6.1 (just in case?)
No dice. :( Trying to research the error as others are getting it too (but in different circumstances, ie. not related in trying to get this mod to work). Have just tried Total commander as an option, but didn't know how to get it to see my phone. ? I feel like I'm spinning my wheels.

Ok, FINALLY got it to work. Wow, that was a royal pain in the ass. But worth it! If anyone else stumbles in here as confused as I was, here's what finally worked.
1. Grab Total commander for the PocketPC. (NOT the standard win32 version!)
2. Install on PDA
3. Move files over to directory on storage card.
4. Open Total commander and under 'Show' change it to 2 pane or 2 virtual pane mode
5. Then copy the files over.
6. Go back into Today and re-activate HTC Home, remember to select empex_Diamond under your themes.
7. Done!

Hello Guys!
You can't imagine how much messages I receive from here to says "i can't install it" or "i can't copy the files". But as you see the 95% of users can install it, so this theme is installable and working fine, so theme problem must be with you.
Now this guy below said "should make it easier and more user friendly because the instructions suck".
Okay this lead me to the decision to say that I don't support this theme anymore and this is a message to all those who can't install the theme (usually very beginner guys with one or two posts on xda-developers):
1. if you just bought your PDA then first you have to read, read and read a lot to get some knowledge about the operation of your device
2. if you have some problems you should read again and use your brain to try to figure out the solution
3. show some respect to those who spend their free time to develop things to make your devices work better
Anyway I use a manila2d rom on my device and I'm very satisfied with it. So my advice to you guys is to choose the specific manila2d rom for you and forget this old theme.
Cheers

First of all, thanks for the theme - it looks great!
I just wanted to know how to get the additional tab that looks like a person as seen in your pictures? I only get four (Home, Weather, Shortcuts, profiles)
Thanks!

Fantastic!!! Thank you Empex.
I love the TouchPRO theme with the white clock and I use it on my Spb Mobile Shell and my S2U2. This is great for the today screen. If you could get the clock to look more like the TouchPRO, then we're cooking with gas. Thanks for your efforts. You'll see my setup on attachmed pics.

If you're new to Windows mobile and don't have an idea how to make it work you should stay away from this modification. I won't help you anymore!!! :-)
Features:
- Portrait and landscape mode (5 and 6 tabs can be used perfectly)
- White and black clockfaces
- Diamond theme file with original colors
Installation:
1. Download zip file
2. Deactivate HTC Home (Settings/Today/Items)
3. Copy all files from empex_Diamond_graphics to your device's /Windows folder
4. Active HTC Home (Settings/Today/Items)
5. Copy empex_Diamond.tsk to /My documents
6. Apply theme file (Settings/Today/Appearance)
To change the clock to the black one, repeat steps 1 to 2, then copy the files from empex_BLACK_Diamond_clock to /Windows and repeat step 4.
I've made some new icons for ringtone profiles (see the picture above). Download "empex_profiles.zip"
HHC pack:
Unpack the zip and copy all subfolders from that to the same subfolder in your device's HHC/FILES folder.
Cheers
Empex

Great look! Do you know of ANY way to move the bottom curtain in the TouchFlow 3D screen? I'm looking for a way to show the today screen's bottom task bar, but I still want the bottom curtain to work. I have apps that want the old task bar at the bottom and the bottom curtain covers it up.
Thanks

I cannot get past step 2. It says:
"Cannot copy 'HH_BEZEL_fill': Access is denied. Be certain that there is enough free storage memory, that the destination is not write-protected and that the file is not currently in use."
I have enough memory.. So wtf.
