The home screen, I have BattStatus on top, then htc home, and on the bottom my appointments. Sometimes my appointments are that many that it takes more space then available. Then a scroll-bar appears... across the entire screen.... I seem to remember that in previous ROMs the scrollbar was only visible for the appointments part of the home screen...
Visually I like a more clean black background, but the all white icons I don't like ;) The green/yellow from previous versions should be there if you ask me. Black mixed with all colors :)
And also the new menu's, in this new black version the focus of the menu's isn't visible because they are both black, for people (like me) who use the d-pad to browse through the menu's this is a bit of an annoyance.

I used to have Today Agenda in my Roms but it's not on the list.

If it was up to me it would be in together with TCPMP and sv2 and out with WMP.
I trust Surface_Rom will take care of the All Black. including the icons on HTCHome. The menu will change in appearance to really it will.

I have the Bug, The Bug is haved, But most the files now are from an older 2.2 ELF build (what a difference in First Boot up speed, slooooowwww). Looks like using Autoshortcut.exe does really make a difference at that.

It looks like some of the stuff doesn't like to be removed in SYStem folders.

So no i have to patiently check every step i make and replace the Rom to the old 63 build without killing WMP.

And if there's one thing i'n learning at the moment looking at the Diamond thread, it is patience, is the only good thing to make a good ROM.

So when i got that nightly i can up the rom and update the posts.

Except for Software incompatibility with the Java version i take full responsibilty for the Rom so it better be good.

I was thinking of taking out WMP completly and adding TCMPM to replace it so i could also kille the WMP BUG. (just replacing the exe so every system file stays linked in registry to open with wmplayer.exe)(don't think i have seen anyone do this before so maybe If Piranha is bored he can test this ;)
Yes TCMPM is upperior and i got a build that works fine on this ROM (0.72 with all plug ins)
That would also force me to incude S2V as Music player.

But these are some extreme changes and a lot of regular users would probaply complain about TCMPM not being finger friendly enough.
(hope they will someday up in the Open source development get better support for skinning)

Download file rename and take away the .txt extension

Place into \Windows\StartUp\

Restart phone and presto.
(hope so i'm using a different Build)

But this should be a good example of how to submit quickfixes)

Script is very straight forward.

I noticed that opera isn't working trough the green (hardware) button..
In the windows directory it's not possible to start Opera by pressing on the exe file

The adobe programs where can I found them? (if the are not on ROM, OK but can't find them yet :))

Yeah that menu is pointing to opera9.exe instead of operal.exe

Adobe Reader is in Office Menu Flash in Video but the linkage (since it's not headache material anymore) is something pushed back.

In fianl versions Menu's in cube can be reconfigured. except for the menu's assigned to hardware button and you don't have all the updated menu's yet.

And now that it looks like running IPL and patched 2.26 SPL together do great work on memory life is looking even more rocking.

I've been playing around with:

And found compared to some other IM apps this one actually did the Job.
I was even sort of have Skype Conversation over slow GPRS (Stutter Stutter).
But this actually connects to almost all IM apps and even gives you Voice on Most of them to.
All you need is Wifi or a faster the GPRS connection.

They do require a separate Sign up and they propably have a way of making mony of it.
But it does Rock out WLM in functionality and is better to use then some other Free Ware Multi PPC IM clients.

I know that this will be a standard in my Personal Cook and out with WLM.
What do you guys Think? (Not for Surface as i think it's will be to scary for most users)VoiceCalls for MSN Shame on you MS.

Well i finally got it pinned down to Three files missing.

It might be it needs all of them (HTCFSrc.dll alone did not fix it)
Or it might only need one, If any one can figure that out while i'm sleeping... You can save me a few more flashes.
These come with HTC Audiomanager, so i didn't need the whole app

I'm going on a week trip to Paris next week so flashing back to the old Dutch Touch Surface 1.31 to have a completely stable ROM (and Dutch... Girlfriend..) with me. So I won't be testing any new beta ROMs, but when I'm back I'll flash them right away :)
So task for this week, prepare my ROM for travel ;) and switch to my new 4 Gb SDHC so TomTom Europe will fit on it :)

P.S. do you know anything of a GPRS (t-mobile) not working on Bram's old ROM, was working with your ROM....

Prices dropped the last weeks 8G micro for 28 Euro,

I nly know that using older 2.2 Elf builds i did encounter the settings for ports not sticking and connecting correctly haven't tested it on this build yet.

Never flashed a PDAVIET Rom (lying, did once)

This has motivated me to use another technique never used before in Cooking.

Most of us hate packages that have to go into Windows and then into a Subfolder right?

So now i'm testing a new S2P package.
All the files are in a Zip file "S2P.zip"
So less clutter in Windows Folder.
During the last Boot Mort will then unzip the files into a new sfx folder (that was created with initflashfiles.dat.

But thats all for Surface Pack 2. Because i'll never be able to do all that i want and can on this first go. (Edit Allready Aplied)

I also like to call it My LoveBaby with Mort.

So i'm not going to Run Opera from Windows folder ;)

But i'm going to Safe Space enough to add SRS WOW equalizer Fixed for BT Headset and unplugged sound.

And i'll Also Add Network Plug in just so the Rom has anything.

Edit: Opera9, Set Volume, BatteryStatus and S2P now install at second boot That's why you get a LogIn Lag at first Boot.
But this does Clean Up Windows Folder.
This reduces 202 Files in Windows Folder.
(oh S2P is in there because i'm still at 37MB free, Lost no Storage Memory Adding this and SRS WOW and Remote Desktop)
Also Update to New 416 BtStatus and MortScript 4.1
I'm not doing this to make the Next Best Rom, I'm doing this to Develop new Methods based on work of those that came before me to make Windows Mobile better.

With the pace that you are working on it and the effort going into this, it might just become the next best ROM ;) Also, I really like PDAviet cuz they did an amazing job on the visual styles (even though they are copying the diamond) and its a delight going through the phone. It was the first ROM where I like the visual style as is, with just some minor functional additions that I had to make. As soon as you get the functionality down and the bugs fixed, I would love to help with the styling and making everything uniform across the board.

One more thing about PDAviet...the dial pad is the best I have ever seen ever...no lag at all when I start it and between key presses. I went on a button mashing rampage and had no mistypes or missed number. The dial pad has been one of my biggest peeves with most ROM I have tried. The most basic of functionality that is always used, needs to work the best.

It's there but the new Keyboard is set to disabled in Gullum's new version.

Good thing is that it's just a registry setting don't know exactly which one, but shouldn't be to hard to find.

But maybe you mean the setting "Key Board Up Arrow >> Options >> Select Touch Keyboard in Selection Box >> Options >> XT9 Settings >> Check Next Word Prediction". Or it might be that just going to settings and not actually changing anything is what you mean.

I have that DialPad around somewhere as OEM package, but it must be around as a cab to.
Thing is it does become a little overkill having two similiar Dialpad's the diamond might indeed react differently.

But if this is a big must for you, adding this to install through UC SDAutorun should not be a difficult task, and since most XDA roms now support XDA you would always have it around. PM me so i don't forget to look for the OEM package, unless you maybe already have the Cab.... wait.

While working on a new build Koala996 was testing and remarked, hey where is me Close apps botton? (fixed now).
But that made me think that i'm going to the AltTab/Tasklist function of the menu back under the Upwards swipe.
Left or right swipe will then get you into the rest of the menu, but i have to then find a way to capture and replace the clicking of the Start Menu completely.
So this is something to Think about or skip completely because forcing people to not have the original start menu sounds to extreme to me.

Jay is going to kill me for this.... BatteryStatus X Close is going to be disabled By Default.
Full Swipe up will bring up Taskmanager and if no task are runnin it will bring up the Start Menu ;)
This way your confronted with Running Apps before starting more + it's a task switcher.

133 MB Have a nice play but beware still need to finish Menu.

But as long as we communicate what is being done it should be fine.

Start menu does not need to Be in ROM if you feel like it make a seperate script to go into the Windows\Administrative tools.

I'm off 30 minutes tops to finish uploadinbg.

Comm Manager Is Out, New Endkey Menu is in. (It will be a full fledged Commamanger after the final release with a seperate Update there's now way i can finish the new Commanager Project before sunday ;))
Conacts Menu is also in.
That leaves some space for the network folder PlugIN.

Actually the whole Menu lay out with the correct settings and animations is done.

(accept for adding Network Plugin link) And i still need to Add a few PNG files for some of the Menu entries (to make it Quicker)

But basically Like in A David Lynch Movie "This Is The ONE" that will give the definite impression of the Rom and how the menu should be.

btw i know vlite. been working with nlite for many years. have a unattended setup for my laptop with sp3 and many other addons and tweaks ready ;)
know my way around winnt.sif and other setup files pretty well....
now onto the vista thing ;) never tried it before, but integrating sp1 will be handy and the other update packs from ryanvm forum.

I once made an explanation of how to add countries to the provisioning file of the wizard.
Two people adjusted it and i stopped that project because no one wanted to pick it up.

But now i remember why i'm not cooking the network wizard again.
So people can use their personal favourite provisioning.zip with any rom.

I you can find a cab, we can take out the provisiong file but not from the new Diamon wizard that file has new password on it.

Old password was 1234, go figure. (for networkwizard Prov file not the Rom)



As for the Rom Pass, i'm keeping that select to the regular BetaTesters and crew, hope you understand.

Found on thing btw also in previous builds, the new volume set is enabled for the hardware buttons. where you have set the volume and use the X in top-right corner to close it, it really closes. So using the hardware buttons after that will use the default windows functionality. Only when you run the program again manually will the volume set be working again. so there should be no way to close it ;)

And the weird menu position of the admin tools is still there... any idea?

And the commanager lite problem that was found, also here, maybe just one commanager then......?

I just let some other jerks that have nothing to do with the ELF forums or this ROM get to me, harassing me through PM and getting their Ass Banned in the process.

The only thing i had modified from Cloudyfa's OEM/Cab was removing the provxml file that creates one folder for SMS and MMS from OEM
and add a new Manual one to create the MMS account.

A bit later now

MMS is fixable.
Now i need to pinpoint it so i can have seperated folders (now this is where it can get late)

Geuss Seperating solution is a no go.

So MMS is fixed but "New MMS" Is out.
But i'll keep playing with it, but not as priority (already spent some time on it Months ago)
But this gives me a free slot in the New Menu, to insert a new Submenu with some office and note templates.


Also looked at the Finger gestures.
Previous Main Menu works as a gesture.

So does back BUT only when or after you have entered a main Menu or Submenu of a menu.

Because using Back is set to always go back to a main menu.
So when you are only browsing the first Main Menu's there's nothing to go back to.

The network wizard in the rom seems to be different from the previous version you asked to be installed to storage card. With the new ROM version my T-Mobile gprs doesn't work. If i install and run the storage card version manually, gprs work fine... any idea?
SIPChange doesn't stick after reboot. Only in current settings. Is this deliberate? Because a startup linkt to SIPchange will fix this.
The startmenu entry for the taskmanager menu points to the personal menu.
You did add the video album menu in the multimedia start menu, but not the picture album menu?
I was customizing the new menu's and thought why not remove the title bar for a complete menu look. When you do this there is a black bar on the top. I presume this is because a fixed background image size? Is this fixable so people who want this option can still have a full background? I switched back btw :)
Oh one other thing, the right softkey was changed back to the default contacts in my previous flashed version somehow... even your softkey program at boot didn't fix it. Don't have any problem with, thought just report it so you know.
New bug: Just tried to create an mss, well the menu didn't work (logic) but when going to the textmessages outlook account, using menu->new->mms nothing happens.... now mms screen.... sms does work btw...

There's something mysterious about the network wizard.

The Provisoning file that i use in the cab for some weir reason does not like being cooked :mad:.
So i had to revert to the original which does not hold my tweaked t-Mobile settings (internet instead of internet-act and username and password tmobile)
So i also find this very annoying that i have to manually go in there and change this. I knew you would notice this :D. I know that if it's not cooked users will ask for it any way and to have it seperate is less user friendly.
So i will just have to fix the provisioning file.

I have SIP in startupdisabled at the moment.

As i need to tweak sometimes on the hand set i like to have the default keyboard. Final version will have SIP change starting and set to Diamond Keyboard.

The Taskmanager very mysterious indeed everything is correct but i'll try something else (also noticed that one)

Yup damn right softkey But closing conatacts from memory and running

Settings >> System >> Start Up Manager >> Tap and hold FixRightSoftkey and choose run should then fix it.
There's just nothing i can do about this it's just an anoying bug. the other solution is to set is as the default MSContacts but that then screws up contacts in Phonedialer. So i had to choose the lesser evil by setting it to the HKLM(orCU)\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113 at every boot.

Another solution would be if someone that is good at mortscript would change the script to kill the RandomAcces\Contacts window running in the background and resetting the key at a set timed interval.

It's a rom indeed, It's not going to be as PointUI as only the menu system is replaced, PointUI replaces the whole Home page and then some.

Just let me touch up the Phone Dialer and i'll post the backdrop I'm using.


MP3Trimmer and WMP Mono skin use touching up to the new backdrop.

I have seen Bram reSURFACE up at the diamond thread, but in the mean time i keep doing whatever i can.

The commanager is easy to adjust to the Backdrop.

It's not the most original one But it does have a non to criowded feel to it.

As for SPL and IPL, i just like to have them matching because i like the numbers

Btw when will we start on building a Dutch version of the Touch Surface.... If I'm going to pass the phone down to my girl when I get the touch pro (yeah i will someday) she will need a dutch rom (she's dyslectic so foreign languages are very difficult for her)

Yes it's Passworded.

Just Came up with a great idea.

Place the attached file on the folder "\Storage Card\Cabs\" of your SD card without the .txt extension.

Replace it with any 32x32 png file of your choice and i'll but it in the menu as your favourites.
Now i believe i saw this script once. That sleeps and listens for the alarm notification and then plays a wav file.

I use my favourites in the menu for Showing my 5 T-Mobile MyFavs, What are you guys going to use it for?

Mostly Skinnins.

Calculator, Streaming media portrait, New Commanager but it needs to be ab it lighter.
New Temaplates button.

I posted most the changes to the Dev thread.

But also put in some Phone tweaks to sleep and not be so unyoing noisy.

Did you check out the Favourites Icon Trick :D

Hopefully i'll look into the new WMP trick from SD card that i want to apply.

The skin is in a zip file but gets installed to \Storage Card\My documents\My WMP Skins\

And the reg and files will then point to that spot allowing to but more skins in that folder.

But instead of needing a user to install the skin to SD i do it for them.

Restored some start ups that disabled where negative on the memory.

Added the new Solitaire Cards and PimBackup as module to increase speed a bit but it's not become that much faster.

Coming Week is all skinning, pfew. Get a completely Skinned ROM with a completely new skin, why did i start this ;)

But i also want to play a little with my Pro the coming days, hug it a little and go to bed early drewling over it.

Went with a smaller Myfaves contract because i don't call that much and double I-Net speed that should make fring do good skype calls.
Two years as i have two spare devices now anyway.
Oh i disabled Overclocking, so that should be a good thing to look at differences. But i might set it as a default to the 221 as i have only heard one use having issues with higher speeds.

The agenda in the start menu, there is no way to acces the calender from the menu of from the startmenu. Only if you add it to the home screen will you have access.

The qwerty keyboard of the gollum keyboard doesn't have a z. I am using the dutch keyboard (installed the seperate cab for this).
The key where the z should be is now another switch with ,123

The qwerty keyboard of the gollum keyboard doesn't have a z. I am using the dutch keyboard (installed the seperate cab for this).
The key where the z should be is now another switch with ,123
Is this a TS issue of a keyboard layout issue?

Yes the already ported XIP is 20273. If you want I'll upload the ported XIP (20296) on server :D We will only need to combine the OEMXIPKERNEL from original XIP. Else I can also upload the full ported 20296 XIP too ;)

I didn't do the memory alocating mannualy this time because Bepe's Kitchen using reloc would take care of that.

But looking at my schedule this weekend i wouldn't mind doing a little accepting help by using an XIP ported by Ameet.

i got that really strange prob

when ever i flash a dumped rom i get something wrong with my touch :D

Any Kaiser or Voque or other 96dpi will do, not a lot of changes there.

Extracting from Zip on the SD card is possible, and off course also to.

Did get error on opening Word File from New Menu..

And the Long Press Send & End key aren't locking or starting the menu.

Changed some stuff around now have less free memory with new enlarged startmenu and titlebar. Around 21.8 free.

Thanks for the file but it was about the enlarged Title bar which runs as a seperate services and DLL.

It does show an icon for a message notification but does not open the Pop UP.

Also about the screen alignment being a bit of (yes i read a bit german)
We can test with a few different versions of the attched DDI.dll (driver for Screen if i'm correct)

I will look for an older version first.

Well I Have Been Somwhat Forced into this.....

(next to the Fact that this is what i like doing best)

Bereda is already Working on a Surface Skin.

Completly new Rom is a bit harder as the same files that cuased WMP bug some time back need to be replaced and yes it brings back the..

Just flashed my Elf with Touch Surface 6.1. Respect to author(s), works fast. All best in the future projects!

However few things are strange;
- Disabled BatteryStatus (becouse takes much of today screen and contains unusefull information - some I can already find on top start menu bar) and then didn't have task manager any more at today screen. Probably design feature becouse I disabled BateryStatus? Installed good old "X-Button 1.5" and fixed this. Small program and works just like it supposed to and NOTHING MORE. Should be in ROM by default if I can make a vote.

- When I select city for HTC Home Weather nothing happens, 'Select your city here" remains on screen.

- Mixture of program folders and black 'mort buttons options' are confusing. Why should I always choose portrait/landscape mode when I start Album and then I must always choose folder I want to see. I had HTC Album installed before but didn't have to go through this two steps every time. Noo need for fast ROM when so much steps are needed just to see some picture. And everything you start something this way program appears in 'Recent Programs bar' with same black button icon. So you can end up with bunch of same black icons for different programs in 'Recent programs bar'.

- Missed calls button at HTC doesn't put you in Missed calls page like in original ROM but in All calls page. I also miss filter buttons at bottom of Call histora page.

- Comm Manager icons are all same. Is there a skin I can replace or is whole program different? Before that I had "Cloudyfa's not too colorful Comm Manager" (see attachment).

Anyway HTC Home was too flashy for me (liked original LCD font and icons better) so I installed TouchFlo 2D Manilla. Nice piece of software. I hope someday it will work with X-Button too ;-) I also installed 'Finger Pressure Hack' which I recomend to all.

To resume, fast ROM but I think from design perspective you have gone too far from Bram Smulder's idea of making a ROM that HTC shuold distribute in the first place.
