Is My Dopod 838 pro (Hermes100) a complete brick

Hi,

I have been working for days and nights through wiki (you guys do a great job) and reading forums on the issues of bricked hermes, and wanted to know am i wasting my time with mine as follows;

Dopod 838 pro (Hermes100)

IPL-1.01
SPL-1.09 (BEFORE 1.04)
Corrupted CID, IMEI, RADIO (NO gsm)

spl-1.04 which allowed me to flash original roms but hung at 14%, i guess this is when the rom installs the radio part of the rom which mine was corrupt when trying in the first instance to update radio rom 1.54.30.10 which got me in this mess.

So its looking like service center i guess?

Were you flashing it at the time it stopped working? What is the history?

history i had a crc10.2 version rom, flashed supercid, flashed hardsplv7, then flashed original dopod shipped 3 rom 3.54.707.4 radio 1.47.30.10 worked great. Then flashed upgraded radio 1.54.30.10 and then bricked. Downgraded spl to 1.01mfg using mtty and then it corrupted my cid and imei. so now i left with a corrupted imei,cid and radio.

Did you use the "task 2a" command to fix bad blocks?:confused:

task 2a command only works with mfg bootlooder eg spl-1.01 MFG, i cant go back to mfg 1.01 because your cid needs to be supercid. so my is answer no regrettably. iam thinking with spl-1.09 i could flash the factory rom via sd card? but where do you get factory roms from not upgrades considering my cid is locked.

There were a heap of roms on the wiki (dont know if they're still available) both cooked and stock roms. Who you with? Might be an idea to let people know as they might be able to supply links... Just a thought...Cheers:D

i am currently with 3, but i bought the phone used not sure who it was prior.

only a thought but are using a usb hub,if so stop and connect directly,dont know if my problems were exactly the same but 4 days of frantic flashing and stomach ulceration were instantly relieved by doing the above,good luck,btw the 3 rom from dopodasia is still available online and used with a mod wrapper would allow a card intall

i have tried hut..3 roms via flashing usb and by sd get error via sd not allowed. i guess the roms online are upgrades where i need the factory wm5 rom.

wm5 rom is a good idea and there are plenty stock wm5/6 roms floating around,but use the modded wrapper to install via usb,no hub,many people swear by at&t roms to get them out of trouble

thanks Stevie boy for your ideas and comments, still having problems i have tried all the dopod roms on xda developers using the custom RUU wrapper so i can select my spl which is spl-1.09 and i get invalid vendor id. if i had SPL-1.04 it has a bug where i leave the phone connected to USB and run the wrapper twice and it updates but this is not working now on spl1.09 bummer.

i feel your pain man,all i can say is that the wiki saved me,there is so much info there its a bit hard to see your way thru but you should be able to work it out.i assume you can still force bootloader is so it seems all is not lost try pm to mr vanx to get more specific advice

Thanks for the reply, I tried tat too. nothing happend.

I tried almost everything, like cid unlocker, flash radio, flash back to original rom, flash from sdcard...etc..
Now trying to get the window platform builder.

You need to downgrade your SPL to 1.10 for those commands to work. If you haven't, nothing will work...

The problem is, I can't flash any of the rom. radio, hard spl, or others.

Well seems that I'm on the same boat, I tried to flash a manufacturer ROM and it finished fine, but when my HERM100 soft reboot, nothing on screen...

I can go to bootloader, but I cant flash any other rom, cause now my CID is corrupted, I'm getting the "CID: Wait interpreter timeout". If I try to do flash any rom it ends by telling me "Invalid CID".

I can't even flash a new bootloader, I've tried from USB and from SD with no luck.

Could somebody please report if had succesfully recovered from this situation, I've been reading posts and faqs and wikis for almost a week and I can't find any procedures that work for me.

Should I consider my phone a brick??

I cant get it back to the reboot icon....I have tried everything i believe and it wont turn back on...if we do the volume down power holds and it is still black is there anything else we can do?
