AP 4 Rom upgrade or not?

I have X7501 without the camera in the front. The device already unlock and phone is fine.

If I want to put AP4 rom in, do I need to unlock the device or just start doing the ROM upgrade. Is the AP4 rom better than original ROM?

You have to unlock to allow non signed software installed on it.
