Anyhow, today is the day. Oh yes, running this will SIM unlock your device as well :D

This guide will explain how to change your drivers to the xp:

You will have problems running the unlocker otherwise. Log in as administrator if you run the ROM update tool and unlocker. That also applies to XP users.

Instructions
============
1. Make sure you installed HardSPL 1.15 MFG If you did not install 1.15 yet follow instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355730
To verify if HardSPL is correctly installed: power off and then press power on while keeping camera pressed, this will enter the so called bootloader mode and you see a tri-color screen (Red, Green, Blue). You should see "SPL-1.15.Hard" on the second line in the top left corner. You can exit this mode by means of a "soft reset": press the reset button with the stylus.

2. Make a note of the radio version that is currently installed. You see the version strings in the splash screen which appears soon after power on (e.g. "R 1.58.16.27"). Since we will flash a special radio in step 5 you need to flash back your original radio in the last step. You can download radio roms from XDA devs here:

EDIT: if your current radio version is 1.65.28.25 or higher you should first downgrade to a lower ROM version like RUU_Nike_Radio_1.58.21.23_25.65.30.04S_Modded.

3. Connect PC and Niki with a USB cable and keep it connected until the last step.

4. Power on the Niki and let it boot into Windows Mobile. On the PC make sure the activesync icon is green.

5. After you unpacked the download you see directories "step1" and "step2". Go into "step1" and run NikiCustomRUU.exe. This will flash the special patched radio rom. Follow the instructions until it is finished. IMPORTANT: Make sure that the flash correctly finished. The device will restart automatically once the flashing is completed.

6a. Power off and power on in tri-color bootloader mode.
6b. Unplug and replug usb cable and wait 10 seconds

7a. right-click activeync icon and uncheck "Allow USB connections" from Connection Settings
7b. On your PC go into the "step2" directory and run "Niki-supercid.exe".

You should see this:

8. Download the original radio from here:

Edit: Niki Security Relocker

Some users with a security unlocked device would like to relock it again e.g. for warranty purposes. Unzip niki-relock.exe from the attached niki-relock.zip into the "step2" directory of the security unlocker (in the same directory there should be niki-supercid.exe). Carry out the same steps as for the security unlocker but in step 7b run niki-relock.exe

Okk..i flash the patched radio and boot phone back on holding dowen camera to boot into tri-color screen 1.15.hard

I then load Niki-supercid.exe from step 2 from which brings up CMD with below then just a flashing cursor

When i unlocked my Niki,when in tri-color boot screen i have to unplug my phone than plug it again(not with this one unlocker)so.....maybe you should try the same?

sorry for this dumb question, but What is the difference between hard SPL and super CID? is there other thing you could do besides Sim Unlocking when your phone is super CID? in my previous phone with super CID, i can flash any compatible rom, but with hard spl, I can also do that right? so i just want to know the difference. thanks

Each HTC device has a CID (e.g. "ORANG001") and a ModelID (e.g. "NIKI10000").
The rom you want to flash also has a CID and ModelID and both must match with the device. A HardSPL bypasses these checks, it will accept any CID and any ModelID starting with "NIKI". In addition there is a rom signature check which is also bypassed by a HardSPL.

If a HTC device has SuperCID (CID="11111111" or "00000000") you can flash a ROM with any CID independent of the installed SPL. A normal SPL will still do the ModelID and signature checks, so a HardSPL is still a better choice.

Same for me... nothing happens (no error message) and when I unplug the device I have this message : "can't find HTCE"

I'm sorry to bother you with this, but I've the same problem as edel and iloveannie...

I install the Modaco drivers (I'm under Vista, but have tried on a XP system and result in the same...), flash the special Radio, disable USB in ActiveSync, reboot the Niki in bootloader and when I try to launch the superCID utility, it remains a cmdbox with your copyright and a flashing text cursor and then... nothing happens...

I've tried to execute as Admin : nothing. Tried with XP SP2 compatibility mode : nothing.

Have you got any idea ?

I'm using windows xp sp3 32bit, previous radio was 1.58.21.23_25 downloaded from netrunnerAT site.

Flashing radio back gets service back again.

I have downloaded the image with the supercid radio installed if that will help?

The niki-supercid program hangs under vista sp1 aswell - with the xp drivers installed.

I have an orange touch dual from UK - it's a NIKI 100 - it definately has 1.15-hardspl MFG as the bootloader.

I'd be happy to help debug this problem.

I also tried updated the cygwin1.dll to the latest version but that had no effect.

No ... i use Avast too ... Avast think CustomRUU.exe is a Virus. Avast use Technics to found unknown Virus. Some times ... this function found Virus in "Virus free clean files".

Try a other Virusscanner to cross check! You will see ... this file is OK!

I tried several times including hard resets and moving Niki-supercid.exe to D:\step2. I confirmed "SPL-1.15.Hard" and radio version "1.27.12.11" and am running WinXP-SP2.

Could this be an issue with all NIKI200? Should we try hardspl-1.16-nike on the NIKI200?

After enter the 3-color screen. I unpluged and pluged the usb.
then I run the Niki-supercid.exe.
My phone is 16key HTC NIKI 100, and I run all the things on winxp-sp2.:D

Taking out the usb cable for 5 seconds and then putting it back in after putting the phone into bootloader mode totally fixed the problems for me. Sorry for not reading the instructions correctly.

IT FINALLY WORKED !!!! AND UNDER VISTA :eek: !!!!!!!!!

The thing was not to disable USB in ActiveSync before rebooting in bootloader (and re-install the Modaco driver once it was disabled), then the superCID tool ran OK.

check your virus program and definition file ... there is definite no virus in the package !

such posts are pain in the arse - do not make people nervous out of nothing !!

and to the rest of the xda devs unsure if there is a virus - i just scanned with symantec antivirus 10.1.0.401 definition 03.06 rev 3. spyremover and lavasoft tools are also quiet.

tools works great and i love that message at booting at the top of the screen ;-)

I had the same problem as many of us (nothing happening after step 2).
I was using Niki Project on Niki200 and win XP SP3.

My solution (I don’t know if was just luck!) was to flash back to the original T-Mobile UK ROM from Http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=380329&page=4 and then do the whole procedure as described in the first post. It worked for me!

However i was unable to find my original radio (R.1.58.16.27) to flash back to, now the radio i have is R.1.17.12.11.

Do i need to flash back to my original radio or is this one ok......

Finally my HTC Touch Dual is Unlocked...

But, this program work with HardSPL 1.15 MFG, not other version. Not HardSPL 1.16 or other.

I having a HardSPL 1.16 and i don't unlock my phone. Them i install a HardSPL 1.15 MFG and i execute step by step the procedures by jockyw2001, and voilá...

I had the same problem with unlocking. When I disconnected for 10 seconds and connected again then it unlocked the Nike.

But now I have another problem that I can't fix.
After unlocking and restoring orginal radio pda don't catch signal. When I'm outside then sometimes have very week signal. I tried few times to replay whole procedure but it don't work. I tried with few radios from post with radios to Nike but every time it's the same.
It's first time that happened to me :(

I've put HardSPL 1.6 on my device too. Using the debugger version of the unblocker I get as far as opening the USB port.
Is there a version of HardSPL 1.5 knocking about somewhere...

This is my first time trying to flash a rom and have searched both Google and the forum to no avail. I thank you for your help and patience in advance.
I ran sspl 1 - 16 nik.exe. USB appears so I disconnect then reconnect the usb cable but the phone does not reconnect to active sync so I cant run the rom update utility - any ideas as when i reset it connects to active sync fine.

Also, should I be using the flash hard spl niki or the flash uspl niki?

I run step one successfully however when it reboot (I am using Tom_Niki_Project 2.1.3) it halts on loading the splash screen. Given that I still have activesync should I even bother about this issue or do I need a "clean restart" before going further.
Also can you clarify how I do a power off and power on in tri-color bootloader mode, I realise you can hold dwn power and camera to boot into tri-color bootloader though not sure how to do a restart from here other than a soft reset.
Any help much appreciated.

well it worked fine for me after a (i think) common mistake: the programm needs the 1,15mfg hardspl version and not the 1.16. I first installed the 1.16 and the step2 couldn't proceed, when i installed 1.15mfg it ran almost instantly unlocking the device!

Question, I can 't re-install the originalRadio. My phone dont get connected (because usb connection is disabled). And wehn i connect it (usb in the activesync menu) the step 3 program gives me an error that this program isnt compatible with my phone?

The phone works on the other radio. Do I really need to install the original or if it works now with my other sim, I dont need to replace the original?

Is it possible that my signal is weaker because of the new Radio? I used to have a HTC Touch, and now the Touch Dual but it seems that the signal of the Touch DUal is weaker??

First post here - As far as I know, there is no way to remove the message, it is "hardcodet in the OS";

I'm running 1.15 HardSPL MFG and Mary v6 on a NIKI100, this message still appears.. Don't bother. The ROM works exactly as it should..

Btw.. Am I the only one, that misses a "Full Mary ROM"?
The one i have now is "cutted down" to a minimal features (Yes, I downloaded the "Normal" ROM, not the Lite-version.

Hi, go easy on me, it my first post!

I've read all the post on the thread but no one has had the same problem!
At step 6 where you power off and start in bootloader mode. I can't get it to boot into bootloader moder i.e. power off and press the camera button whilst pressing the power button. Doing this boots as normal to windows mobile! Everything else before this went ok radio rom is now showing 1.27.12.11. previosly I had 1.58.16.27. everything else went ok with no problems. No sim card inserted. Any suggestions?

my problem begins with number 5: I have hard spl mfg flashed and tried to cid unlock with vista and xp.

I always have the problem in step 1, when I run the NIKECustomRUU.exe my pc starts to flash and after 95 % it stops und there is an error (I tried yesterday, I dont remember the concret message).

So I was unable to go to step 2.

Any Ideas or an solution?

Well, successfully unlock the security at Step 7a & 7b.

a) After that I flash with Radio ROM RUU_Nike_Radio_1.65.24.36_25.94.40.06 (successfully)
b) downloaded RUU Nike Radio 1.58.16.27.nbh and place inside Step 3 folder
c) Run the NikiCustomRUU inside the Step 3 folder, but given error code of 244.

note:
System: WinXP
HTC: Niki100
1.15 HardSPL

right now, my set with RUU_Nike_Radio_1.65.24.36_25.94.40.06, but the camera doesn't function

I am able to update other radios and roms already, it is just the sim unlock that i need. can you confirm that you managed to unlock the sim?

i missed the the step which says
"Make sure you installed HardSPL 1.15 MFG..."

and went on and downloaded file with the files and ran the ROMUpdateUtility.exe in "Step 1-Flash HardSPL" folder.
it wend on smoothly till it reached 99% and got stuck. and gave me a communication error message. then i continued with the recovery instructions in the same wizard and tried to redo the process again.
now the Phone is stuck in the three colour mode and it says..
RUUNBH (on the right top corner)
NIKI 100
SPL-1.16.0000
CPLD-4

so tried to run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe again. now it gets stuck and at 0% and says
"ERROR [262] : UPDATE ERROR

Open the Back Cover from Nike and remove the Battery then put it again
Press Camera + Power Button you will see Boot mode after that flash your phone with Hard SPL

You need to Flash your phone with this Hard SPL after that you need to Flash it with original Rom

Well, i'm stuck.
I ran trough all of the steps, first downgraded my SPL to 1.15 hard, then step 1, step 2, and tried step 3 but installing R 1.58.16.27 gave me an error, wrong device or so.
After this i discovered that step 2 wasn't good after all, because there wasn't "Security Unlocked" in my bootscreen.
Now i tried to run trough all the steps again but the update of step 1 stucks @ 95% and gives me an update error (262).
I also installed the rom update to WM6.1, does this give the trouble??
Don't know how to go further now...

Here's what I did (something very stupid) and what happened :

I have a NIKI100 which has simlock and HAD a vodafone dutch splash screen with original rom and radio.

I followed the instructions and managed to flash a new rom with
RUU_Nike_HTC_NLD_2.09.404.1_Radio_NikeMR_1.65.28.2 5_signed_Ship.exe

I still installed radio 1.71....
rom update halted at 95% I got error and began
recovery. (1) Ever after this I get ERROR[262] whatever I try and update halts at 0%.
I tried to flash the ROM again but then I get error [294]:INVALID VENDER ID

everytime I reset the phone I get red-green-blue screen :

You will have problems running the unlocker otherwise. Log in as administrator if you run the ROM update tool and unlocker. That also applies to XP users.

Instructions
============
1. Make sure you installed HardSPL 1.15 MFG If you did not install 1.15 yet follow instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355730
To verify if HardSPL is correctly installed: power off and then press power on while keeping camera pressed, this will enter the so called bootloader mode and you see a tri-color screen (Red, Green, Blue). You should see "SPL-1.15.Hard" on the second line in the top left corner. You can exit this mode by means of a "soft reset": press the reset button with the stylus.

2. Make a note of the radio version that is currently installed. You see the version strings in the splash screen which appears soon after power on (e.g. "R 1.58.16.27"). Since we will flash a special radio in step 5 you need to flash back your original radio in the last step. You can download radio roms from XDA devs here:

3. Connect PC and Niki with a USB cable and keep it connected until the last step.

4. Power on the Niki and let it boot into Windows Mobile. On the PC make sure the activesync icon is green.

5. After you unpacked the download you see directories "step1" and "step2". Go into "step1" and run NikiCustomRUU.exe. This will flash the special patched radio rom. Follow the instructions until it is finished. IMPORTANT: Make sure that the flash correctly finished. The device will restart automatically once the flashing is completed.

6a. Power off and power on in tri-color bootloader mode.
6b. Unplug and replug usb cable and wait 10 seconds

7a. right-click activeync icon and uncheck "Allow USB connections" from Connection Settings
7b. On your PC go into the "step2" directory and run "Niki-supercid.exe".

You should see this:

Edit: Niki Security Relocker

Some users with a security unlocked device would like to relock it again e.g. for warranty purposes. Unzip niki-relock.exe from the attached niki-relock.zip into the "step2" directory of the security unlocker (in the same directory there should be niki-supercid.exe). Carry out the same steps as for the security unlocker but in step 7b run niki-relock.exe

RUU_Nike_HTC_NLD_2.09.404.1_Radio_NikeMR_1.65.28.2 5_signed_Ship.exe

I still installed radio 1.71....

You stuck in the Bootloader Mode ... you need the Programm MTTY ... and the Command "boot"

Flash the RUU_Niki_HTC_NDL again!

Here's what I did (something very stupid) and what happened :

I have a NIKI100 which has simlock and HAD a vodafone dutch splash screen with original rom and radio.

I followed the instructions and managed to flash a new rom with
RUU_Nike_HTC_NLD_2.09.404.1_Radio_NikeMR_1.65.28.2 5_signed_Ship.exe

I still installed radio 1.71....
rom update halted at 95% I got error and began
recovery. (1) Ever after this I get ERROR[262] whatever I try and update halts at 0%.
I tried to flash the ROM again but then I get error [294]:INVALID VENDER ID

everytime I reset the phone I get red-green-blue screen :

I have managed to put HardSPL 1.15 ont he Dual as described.Then tried about 10 times to flash Step 1 (radio) but got stuck at 95% all the time
After a short panic, searched XDA and fount MTTY (boot command)..
I seem to have a problem downgrading the radio from Step1 (always error at 95%)
Does anyone has an idea how to fix? Because I bought the phone from Holland and can't use it with my simcard in Belgium (simlocked)

I received a nice htc touch dual two day ago and I tried to unlock it... with no success...:(
Although I managed to install the hard SPL-1.15 MFG CPLD-4, but I m still stuck in the step 7-b, when I have to launch Niki-supercid.exe . I unchecked "allow USB Connections", tried many times to plug and replug USB cable and relaunch this program. But it still don't work. My HTC touch dual comes from SFR-Vodaphone, France. I'm stuck with the 2 lines:

When you reset the phone, it will go to through a series of screen. On the second screen, on the right side there will 3 rows of data displayed. The one with R: followed by the digits is your radio number.

In unlocking your phone, this radio will be changed. You need to flash the old radio back to get functionality in your phone back.

After 95% the rom say me... recovery ? and I Answer Yes. After say me... Ok Good recovery well fine. After say renew update I Say Cancel. After batery out of my touch and after return batery to touch and after de screet see in boot loader with spl 1.15 SAY SERIAL. I connect to de PC and install Something new rom, vodafone, wm6.1 or other. And fine, my htc live and good

This is indeed my question too. I've upgraded to 6.1 shipped and hardspl-ed to 1.22. I understand that because 6.1 needs the newer radio there might be probs. Does anyone have any guesses? Maybe downgrading, but then how do you get from 6.1 with the new radio and hardspl 1.22 to an pre 6.1 version?

BTW is it still needed to use the xp driver on vista? Even if I've upgraded and as far as I can see there is a driver for my nike when I connect in bootloader.

The request is fair. As someone starting out, it can be scary. I literally held my breath when I flashed my first ROM. Every single slowdown or stutter of the moving bar and I would just about panic.

Having said that, I doubt many would have the time to do a shot by shot guide.
KhUSbCOMGSM, why not make it yuor mission? Flash the phone, and take pictures as you go along as your contribution to the forum?

I used to have a spv M3100, it was just a one step process to unlock it. My touch dual has spl 1.16 on it..yet this says to knock it back to 1.15...Is this necessary? I'm a newb and kinda don't wanna brick my phone. Is their a simpler way of doing it? I appreciate all your hard work, but it just seems a bit complex. Wanna upgrade to Wm6.1 as htc haven't realeased the upgrade for europe.

I know this may be a bit thick but any suggestions? I have read all the threads etc... But it seems like some kinda mad black art?!!

Hi,

I've used to have ROM 1.65.xxx and i download one rom 1.22.x.x

For that you'll have to find hardspl v2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351964)

Then downgrade rom to 1.22 and after that just follow the steps 1, then step 2 then upgrade to one rom of your choice.

The software given in the first post will only work with lower rom < 1.64

If this is related to a previous post where you asked what to do if you didn't find your original radio for the last unlocking step, I can tell you this: You don't need the exact radio wich was on your device, you only need one from the same major version, for example, you have 1.65.28.23, you can replace it with whatever you want wich is higher than 1.65 (1.65, 1.71 etc)

If your Radio version is less than 1.59, you can replace it with whatever you want from the 1.58 series and below, for example, with this you should be good to go: http://www.4shared.com/file/52403515/681b77e5/RUU_Nike_Radio_1582123_25653004S_Modded.html

@People getting a 95% complete on radio update and then get stucked at bootloader screen. To fix this the only thing you really need is another radio, for example the same I posted above, flash it, and then retry the process, this time it should get to 100% (it may take a while)

@People with port not opening, or application doing nothing. Ensure you have HardSPL 1.15 MFG. It doesn't work with 1.22. You need that version for it to work, so downgrade first. After upgrading to 1.15 mfg hardspl, you have to enter on bootloader screen, disable activesync, connect to usb, wait for windows to detect the device, then UNPLUG and replug usb. Then the unlocker should work.

Many thanks, flashing your alternative radio, as linked (to replace my 1.65.xx.xx radio version) before beginning the process cured the hang at 95% problem. I am now sim unlocked :)

I have HardSPL and flashed a british NIKI under "Orange" and was able to use it in the US with a US Sim card under T-Mobile.
I just tried to use it with a French SIM card under SFR and I get a
"SIM Lock" - Enter unlock code Message...

Is there a solution without calling the original carrier?

How to get around that? I already HardSPL, and have used the phone in the US... originally the phone was from england on Orange and I used it on TMobil in the US without any problem. Once in France on SFR it gave me that message!!!!

HardSPL does not unlock the phone. It just write protects the bootloader to prevent it from being overwritten in a faulty flashing process. You still need to CID unlock the phone if is not already unlocked.

SIMs also come with a 4 digit pin that is needed to unlock the phone for normal usage.

I followed the instructions and I can confirm that I have flashed the Step 1 without any problems after setting up the right configuration.

It does work under Vista... It does work under HardSPL 116...

BUT:

The signal strenght is moving from 0 to low every few seconds and the phone is quite often not reachable.
The phone was French Orange and now I've installed a TIM sim card (Italy) and a Vodafone Italy sim card. The phone is working little better with TIM but still not usable.

The radio version is RUU_Nike_Radio_1582123_25653004S_Modded
and the rom is Salvy.C.83_iolITA_v2.2_3G_ITA .
I've installed also the Hard spl 1.15

I was thinking to upgrade the radio but I read many people with problem of freezing at 95%.

Not altogether familiar with the ROM, but if it is one of the newer WM6.1 ROM, then you will need HardSPL 1.22. The newer ROMS do not have the drivers for the older SPL.

I've tried HardSPl 1.22 and it works in a worst way.
I've tried also Radio 1652436_25944006 and radio 1710901_25754002K with again HardSp 1.22 and HardSpl 1.15 but now I'm not able at all to get the line.
Is there some mod to do with registry files or similar?
I don't understand if the problem is the rom, the radio, both...

If you have Hard-spl you shouldn't have problems flashing the radio.
Besides from the signal lost, are you experiencing problems with the audio, camera, and the phone going really slow sometimes? If so, you probably don't have a good match of radio+rom. Older roms don't work for newer radio, the same way older radios don't work well with newer roms. If that's the case, change the radio.
If you don't have problems with the camera or audio, and it's only a signal problem, you probably have a hardware fault, or you are on a poor network coverage area.

Hi, is there a modified version of this which will sim unlock a htc touch dual? I followed all the steps in both XP and vista, then realised this is obviously for a HTC touch (Not dual).

Its CID unlocked it (i think) but deffinalty not sim unlocked.

In both cases i get to step 7b, and what i get is the cmd popup displaying

Just to be safe I thought is would be best to CID unlock it through the use of this guide.
When reading the guide I noticed that it is important to remember the version of the Radio rom in order to flash it back later on. A link is placed where I can find these Radio roms. The version I have on my device is the 1.65.28.25 this is a factory Radio rom from HTC itself. In the list of available Radio roms I can not find this version. The question is: is it imperative that you flash the exact same radio rom version back or can I use (for instance) a newer version like the 1.71.09.01K ??

No. The advice to flash the same radio is to restore the phone's functonality to as close to original as possible. Different ROM and radio combinations will give different performance benefits and costs. It is a simple matter of experimenting.
