Hi, I dont have my Softbanks TyN Hermes 200 base ROM. I reflashed ones to shaps WM6.0.
It is recomended to flash original ROM before reflashing to one of the latest ROMs.... is there a good generic I could use instead of my original ROM? or should I just flash the new ROM directly?
thanks!

Its usually recommended to flash to original ROM when you flash a hyperstorage ROM, ie. OS and ExtROM merged! If not, just flash them and it should be ok.
What i do is strip out just the OS and ExtROM from the orginal one and make a RUU just by themself. I flash this before i flash the ROM i like. That way, i dont mess with radio, IPL, SPL etc.

When I saw this post I thought exactly about this. Can you please post this "stripped" version of the official ROM, I'm growing tired of reflashing Radio every now and then. BTW, I was trying to do this a few days ago and got more confused than anything, so I just quit.
Thanks in advance,

I dont have a rapidshare or any of the file sharing account and file is about 80MB, so i dont have a good way of uploading the file. Did you try using dutty's tool (can be found in any kitchen) to strip the RUU file and rebuild it again? That's what I did, if that helps.

Excellent, figured it was something like that. Thanks for the tip!

Hello,
I wanted to follow this method, but my original rom (softbank x01ht, wm5), is not available anymore. Can I use another generic rom, and in wm6 version? And using dutty's tool, are the "version" and "language" fieds important, or is it just for the info in the phone (as it will be a transition rom, I really don't care about it, even is it wasn't transition rom by the way)? Sorry for the noob questions, but I'm trying to avoid bricking my phone...

I am not sure about softbank, but if you can install any hermes ROM, then you should be good to go with any official hermes ROM.
I never change the version and language in dutty's tool when i create my own ROM's!

Ok thanks, that's all I needed! I will take the cingular rom as it seems it was the one which gave best results on hard reset issue.
