Need - US Touch Dual Rom Dump for porting

With the release of the US Touch Dual (HTC Neon 300 / Niki200) sold through Best Buy, I am looking for a willing individual to dump thier Rom so that Niki100 users can try to port it to their devices.

Dumping this Rom can help bring a stock WM6.1 Rom to other Niki owners. If you have a US Touch Dual purchased from Best Buy and you would like to help, please post here.

If there is any contributing information/problems on compatibility, development, Rom porting or if this is already in progress please feel free to update this thread.

Niki200 is only a Device Type. Niki200 Roms work on Niki100 Device too, without modding ... porting ... only dump is required!

I'm glad to see someone has also put in this request... I was under the impression that i was being ignored... hehehehe

Anyway, i'm hoping the Neon300 has the same specs as the Neon200, i've ported WM6.1 to the Neon200 but it just has to many hardware issues with a NIKI/Kaiser Rom.

So if we get a dump, we can start cooking... and get some nice Roms.

I recomend saving the video to your computer for easier playback; to do this right click on the image and click "save target as" and choose a location to save it to. The tutorial is not that long but the video time is because you watch him dump his rom, I just scrolled through this.


To Upload
you can upload the raw files using a websites like www.rapidshare.com (http://www.rapidshare.com) and post the links for users to download, if you need help or other solutions let me know.

I just got a Touch Dual (WWE), and was trying to dump the rom last night. I was getting an error from pdocread and ended up reading the hermes dumping entry on the wiki and came across this regkey change:

HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies
valuename '00001001' was set to dword:2, change it to dword:1

Once I performed that pdocread worked great, and dumping went perfectly.

I will dig into this rom and see if I can get it to work on the Niki100. I will also take a look at the camera app and see what I can do. I am fairly new to cooking so I can't pomise anything at this point.

I had to create a work around to get past the error number [244] : INVALID MODEL ID and maybe this why my device ended up with these bugs.







Here is what Doesnt Work:

No system noises or sounds through internal speaker or speaker phone which also effects calls(midi ringtones work with incoming calls )
Keyboard Bug - Keyboard works like 16 Key version for the keys with numbers but other 6 keys work normal (I have Niki 20 Key Version) Example: If you press any of the number keys you get numbers, multi tapping only enters the number again. If you hit keys not on the number pad like the QW key it works normally; you get Q and if pressed again you get W.
keyboard Backlight & Quick Tasks works in reverse, backlight on/open quick list when keyboard shut and backlight off/Application closed when open. (Good news is the Quick Task is now animated with sliding motion when open/close)
Camera does not work, application works with setting controls but displays black screen. Also no second camera option.
Here is what works:

6.1 Rom loads and UI functions normally
Touchflo works (not using s600 driver)
Phone can make and receive calls (but no audio or mic functionality)
SMS works normal with Threaded capability(no audible alerts)
Midi Ring tones work with audible
HTC Home, Audio Manger and Album Applications work (camera appplication works but camera does not and audio manger has no sound output)
Data Connection connects in Edge but Explorer shows this when you browse to a page:

HTTP ERROR: $CODE$
$MESSAGE$
RequestURI=/

Settings for Dual Band UMTS are shown but UMTS(800) is selected it does not connect phone or data, all other setting allow call operations and atleast Edge connectivity
Network Type options show GSM and WCDMA (When WCDMA is selected Phone icon shows searching... with blinking dots but finds nothing)
All physical buttons work (with exception of backlight on keyboard *see description in Not Working List)
On Screen Keyboard Works normally

Hi mate,

I had the exactly the same issues in reverse (Flashing a NIKI Rom on the Neon) Everything worked fine except for the keyboard and backlight working in reverse.

I managed to get 99% of the issues resolved by Porting the XIP and SYS from the NIKI but leaving the NEON OEM intact. I'm guessing the issue is in the OEM/Drivers folder with a specific dll. I asked the question to a couple of senior members but wasn't able to find a solution.

You can try porting the XIP and SYS from the US version onto your Niki see how that goes.

After much trouble and many glasses of wine, I now have a stock WM6.1 rom running on my Niki100. I had to port the rom from shortyboy's dump using the last known HTC WWE rom to get what I think is a complete success. Thanks shortyboy, Goines and seth2006 for all your help and motivation.

I found out you have to port the rom, a straight dump and rebuild did not fully work and gave me problems I listed in a few post back, but it did get me to finally learn some things about cooking and porting. I always have bee such a weinie to start doing this until now.

Here some discriptions:

Your Phone doesnt Ring or you dont here any Sound!

This is a Radio Rom Problem or Core DLL Problem (XIP)! Its the same Problem why HTC Kaiser use different OS for Phones with "pre build radios"+1.27, 1.58+1.64 and 1.65 Radio Roms. ATT Kaiser and Non Branded Kaiser has different Radios too. It means ... its a Driver Problem and this is the only reason!

If you have this Problem, you can try compled different Versions. I want a OS copy from Bestbuy Phone. I think they need 1.65 Radios ... i will check this today!!!! (please dont do this, if your phone isnt secure unlock and cid unlocked!!!)

Can't create a dump with the Niki Kitchen and Flash it back!

Main Problem ... you need too edit a Device File in the Niki Kitchen. I have edit the Nikikitchen for Niki Only (i change soon the Version with Neon Settings!)

In the directory "\Tools\" you can found a importent file. "htcrt_devices.ini"

Open it with a Text editor and insert this text!
