I like it too.. I just wasn't aware of the look at the time cause the top of the screen was black and the bottom was white it looked like the screen was frozen... when I was reflashing something said touch the screen - and behold it worked.. this is a awsome rom so far...
surfing from the tmo wing right now, trying to install some cabs on it... a few things - keyboard fix - the alt keys are jacked up on some of the letters...

Did anybody elses Missed call/SMS/email/MMS battery status icons shift right on the screen when changing the default xml to include the GPRS? Also the little G indicator didn't show after soft reset. Should it not show for an Edge connection?

Edge would be an "E" not the "G" mate.

I think you probably down loaded papas gprs zip. The default.xml file has some coordinates that were not right. I corrected it in this default.xml.

I removed my file. I had some other personal changes that will not work for others. Use papamopps update

WHy are you using TRAYICONS???

You can toggle Bluetooth AND WIFI on topbar!

Bluetooth is left from signal and wifi right! after first activation you see both icons!

So far this rom is simply amazing. Very functional rom without having to do a lot of fixing on our own. Most of everything I have to say has been stated in Pure's review (thanks alot mate;)) Skin and creation is flawless, very fast rom. One question though, is this your Lite version Papa?:D I'm not complaining just wondering. This is a really great rom/platform to work with as everything is not preset/installed for you. You get to choose what you want on this rom and not have to complain or having to request recooking and getting flamed on about installments that you don't agree with. Very simple and clean. I Love It!

however, there is a bugs that I have encountered and tried to work around but it's not working for me: For the cube action I get "not activated" in all four corners and each in a different color (blue, green, magenta, yellow). What version of 9.5 are you using I still use the beta and its a self-installed browser not java based. Opera mini is java ....

once i get more familiar with UL customization ( as far as making tabs and more sides to the cube ) i will use it.. i did like the gestures part of it though, im less than 24hrs into this rom, when i get off work today I will try modding it some more...

BUT DO NOT waste time with configuring an old version!!

HAHA... just uploading the fixed version with ClassicBlackDiamond.tsk; BS with GPRS icon and some apps got UPX compression so we have 42,4MB storage now!

Not much changed but fundamental!

if its only the background and gprs indicator - not that serious for me.. now the compression sounds good, but i still have about 27mb free storage, and i just installed opera 8.65 and opera mini....
One thing is the sound is low on this rom, need to find the reg hack to turn up the sound

I already configured bsweather it works good but htc weather on HTH has a bigger display, I probably will uncheck that box later on tonight and just roll with bsweather., but i do like the larger display....

I would buy it but right now im on a tight budget.. but i know about the .dll out there, but if had said app that was doctored would i be able to install it over the one thats in the rom or would i have to extract the .dll out of it first..

I just love this ROM from Papamopps and started to configure my Herald when somehow the Topbar, the Clock and the four message icons dissapeard. I think I hit something like minimize in the BS options and do not find a way to maximize again. Someone here with any hint how to recover the today screen? I was searching the options again and again without finding a solution...

go to settings - today - and check the box for batterystatus ( if its not already checked) if it is already checked click and hold on the clock area ( which is batterystatus - and chose show rows - choose show 1,2,3 rows - check them all )... and thats it..

I'm seeing the standard top start bar showing every time I slide open the keyboard. After sliding back it remains. BS gets pushed down.

I was using Open Touch 4.0 Lite before, and wifi works fine
Now I am trying out papa's, and it doesn't

I am pretty sure I set everything up correctly, and type in the password key correctly, and it keep go back to available, rather than connected

I have another laptop here that can connect to the same router just fine

Does anyone have problem with wifi and this ROM?

I tried the 3.21 and 3.18 radio ROM. No differences

My wireless router is setup for WPA-PSK, TKIP

I hope I can fix this one. So far I like this ROM alot, and this could be the one thing that push me back to Open Touch 4.0 Lite

I too am testing out some new Roms after being a longtime Open Touch 4.0 Lite and 5.0 Lite user. I love the ease of use you have created with this new build. I noticed that while in the comm manager, there is no way to adjust "Settings" for "Wireless LAN" (CommManager/Settings/Wireless LAN). Tapping this choice results with the "Settings" menu simply closing instead of taking me into the usual next screen. Is there a simple way I can fix this in the reg?

Okay after playing with my wing, i figured out UL real good... where do i put the gprs stuff at ?? in windows/batterystatus/ ????
and when fixing my gestures to hide the topbar - that only works on the agenda screen correct... but i can make gestures for any app that I want ( just trying to make sure i got it right...

EVERY tab can have 2 vertical gestures...SO i put the gestures for TOPbar and todayrefresh on TODAYAGENDA!!



I just love this ROM from Papamopps and started to configure my Herald when somehow the Topbar, the Clock and the four message icons dissapeard. I think I hit something like minimize in the BS options and do not find a way to maximize again. Someone here with any hint how to recover the today screen? I was searching the options again and again without finding a solution...


Just use D-Pad...if BS topbar is showing or any other ROW- highlight it by using dpad up/down and then hit Dpad left...and the ROW under it will appear or disappear!



I noticed that while in the comm manager, there is no way to adjust "Settings" for "Wireless LAN" (CommManager/Settings/Wireless LAN). Tapping this choice results with the "Settings" menu simply closing instead of taking me into the usual next screen. Is there a simple way I can fix this in the reg?

i will inlcude a date now in my .zip folder!!

But after GPRS --the next update was VIBRATE...so if you have vibrate_dropdownmenue..., you have all updates to topbar!...

damn of cousre i have to include the gprs.icons :D

great rom and very fast. I can't seem to get the refreshing thing. Do I have to manually set it or it's already preset? Cause I can refresh going down but I can't refresh going up for the topbar. Also do you know what's going on with this ... :

UL wants to be activated. its not free.

go to the options and check out the activation tab at the far right... either cough up the money or deal with the background. its still way, way, way less annoying than that batterystatus popup :P

that cab I have already installed and it works fine, but sometimes it feels better and faster to use the on sreen keyboard - also because of the little bug with the org. topbar appearing after sliding the keybord (and yes - I read about the gestures and I use them).

WHY? some people wanted more ram... other never use Connect Wizard cause they have a cab file for settings....

i try using "minimal dialer" from the forum here, but it lacks some features that your built in dialer has. plus for my big thumbs the buttons are a little small and missing the end of the number is frustrating.

when I try to set the proxy for t-zone, my entire T-Mobile Data would be deleted and replaced with My ISP or something like that. So, I installed a t-mobile_network_customization.cab and i was able to configure the proxy server fine after that.

In a related note: Does anyone know how to get bs weather working for t-zones? The only way I got it to work is with wifi.

That´s a BSweather problem that´s why i included HTC aHome also...BS is not working with proxy....

you can check bsweather if you can set proxy to 1 - but i don´t think so..

I deleted connect wizard on newer (not released version) cause some ahve problems -MANY have .cab and it takes 1,6MB store ;)

I'm very thankful that you mentioned start/settings/connection/wifi...I had forgotten this route into wifi setting because i was so used to TTRAN's commanager.

tell that dude beastmode to relax and just read... he cant be having that many problems with this rom.... this is the best rom that i have used with very few bugs... he needs to download the version you have on your ftp site... I am glad I was able to help. And I see you like software as well . The opera 9.5 takes a while to get use to . At first I thought it didnt work well on the wing until I played with it ..... On some test icontact earlier versions have a few conflicts with this rom while cooking . So a lot of programs that you would like to add dont run properly cooked in this build of papas.

tell that dude beastmode to relax and just read... he cant be having that many problems with this rom.... this is the best rom that i have used with very few bugs... he needs to download the version you have on your ftp site... I havent had any bugs on this rom except for the black screen saying complete - and me staring at it like a dummy thinking something was wrong... lol...


its decent but diamond is still a faster phone and bigger drive......

yes there is some distortion in the ringer/text messages notification...
start - settings - sounds - the rings and text notifications sound high pitched and low...
my device is overclocked @ 260... with dynamic enabled... will keep testing...

just click the text message notification on the today screen or the side of the device - it brings up the regular sms... if your in pocket cm looking at it, then it will come in thru pocketcm....

The start-menu-popping-up issue that is discussed in this thread and BS-Wifi-hold-for-settings are the only two things I've noticed that aren't %100. I didn't try RC1 before RC2; but having read every page in this thread, I am aware of most of the fixes.

PS. The new "Diamond" splash screen looks phenomenal. Now that's some eye candy.

good job on the add ins.. i just put them where they needed to go per your direction and it worked fine... no need to reflash unless theres some major development... and the adjusting of the volume using the registry hack per my prevous post worked well......

I can tell you now that UPX version is fast and offers a little more storage space. I try to stay on a ROM diet as I have Goodlink V5.0 for corporate e-mail and it sucks away about 20M of storage memory. I flashed it this morning. Thanks papamopps for trusting me to test it.

The Good:
I started with 46.05M storage free and 27.3M free RAM. After setting up my network, I started playing. SMS worked flawlessly and this function I bang on HARD. MMS works after I set up the connection for that with 1200K size set up out of the box. My favorite feature is the Battery Status set-up. I believe it is easier on the program memory as compared to other Today screen plug ins. Papamopps has maximized its versatility. Top bar icons all work with BT and Wifi turning on/off with tap and drop down menu for tap and hold. GPRS icon works. Vibrate mode icon works. Missed call/SMS/MMS icons look great and work ontap. Changing e-mail path in default.xml was posted for those that use something other than exchange/outlook. BS weather works with out problems - AWESOME! Calculator works. Phone key pad is sweet as ever with large buttons, shiney, contacts background is black as ever, very well laid out. Great attention to detail. Internet sharing works. HW keyboard works, need to add duprade's kb fix (thx!) to get some alt symbols to work for the Wing. Audio manager works, WMP works and the skin goes right along with the black theme. Oxios Hibernate works. UL needs no words, and the black icons go right along with the theme of this ROM. UL is a must buy if you ask me. Comm manager works. Diamond version of photo album works and simply slide out your keyboard to go to landscape.

No fear though, papamopps is already on that. He found some of his own issues and of course being a perfectionist is working on those as I type.

Overall this ROM is fast. Even the version before this UPX'd one. Papamopps really took the time to release a close to flawless ROM with a style that meets my needs. BLACK IS NICE!!!

Take iGO8!!!! and 30MB free ram as i had with my rom...that´s the msot you can reach for a working phone!!

Hey papa! Nice ROM. I'm very impressed with it. I seem to be flashing a new ROM every couple of days, but I'm going to keep using yours because I really like it. I have found a couple of things that don't seem to have been mentioned.

1. I have a ringtone that shows up in the list of ringtones, but if you select it the phone automatically switches it back to the default Ring-WindowsMobile ringtone. I narrowed down the problem to the fact that the ringtone I was trying to use was a *.AMR ringtone and not a *.MP3. Once I converted it to an MP3 everything worked.

2. I'm used to hitting the End Talk button to exit screens and get back to the Today screen. I found something that might just be my fault since I removed the todayshrink so I could get back my Start Menu and Soft Keys. Take a look at these screenshots:

When I pull up my Call Log I get a screen that looks like this, which is fine:

Just try to sue the endbutton BEFORE syncing to contacts! It will work...but after syncing NOT nobody figured it out! And me neither!

ANd you removed todayshrink :(:( it took me soooo much work this topbar! hehe

Yes that was I, and I dont have any problems with it, never hat.
I changed all Roms that I tested to 2MB PP, without any Problems sofar.
But I set BS overclock to 286MHz.

Edit: This Rom is not 2MB Pagepool, I set it to 2MB. The Orginal Rom Has 4MB Pagepool, at last that is what PP Changer tells me!!!!!

Sorry papa, but the only thing I found when searching this thread was a post titled "if you look at the icons for sms/email/phone...", which had to do with the number text next to the icons, not the Call Log. Believe me, I did search. I'm not a noob, but I lurk way more than I get involved, which I know I should take a more active role in helping those who help us. Again, thanks for all of your hard work.

Hey, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings by removing todayshrink. ;) I should have left it alone, and forced myself to learn to use it the way you had intended. I'm sure I will go back to using it again. I'm just so used to having a Start Menu there, so it is mostly by habit.

keep htc home in it... some people use it like me.. but im slowly gettin out of using it as ive been playing with UL last night and this morning. but at the same fold it would be easy to just post the htc home as a seperate file if alot of people dont want to use it... Htc Home is good for the media player pat but once i find me a player small enough i will try and link it through UL...

Some update...
On my 2nd router (Buffalo WHR-HP-G54), I set it up as WEP, and I can login just fine

2) in the dialer, I used to see a headset icon if my BT headphone is connected. Now I don't. Is this intentional? Right now, when my BT headphone is on, I don't really know if it's connected or not...

I was using Open Touch 4.0 Lite before, and wifi works fine
Now I am trying out papa's, and it doesn't

I am pretty sure I set everything up correctly, and type in the password key correctly, and it keep go back to available, rather than connected

I have another laptop here that can connect to the same router just fine

Does anyone have problem with wifi and this ROM?

I tried the 3.21 and 3.18 radio ROM. No differences

My wireless router is setup for WPA-PSK, TKIP

I hope I can fix this one. So far I like this ROM alot, and this could be the one thing that push me back to Open Touch 4.0 Lite

NAH it is the problem that sometimes Windows wants "OK" and sometimes "x"...BS only makes "x" so you have to type twice....IS it a big bug??? For me NOT!

And yes the bleutooth icon is missing in dialer...never worked on it cause i hear through my bluetooth if it is connected or not! ;)


And wifi...i don´t use much...so please test the hell and report:D

NAH it is the problem that sometimes Windows wants "OK" and sometimes "x"...BS only makes "x" so you have to type twice....IS it a big bug??? For me NOT!

And yes the bleutooth icon is missing in dialer...never worked on it cause i hear through my bluetooth if it is connected or not! ;)


And wifi...i don´t use much...so please test the hell and report:D

As for the bluetooth, can you teach me how I can fix it?

I will definately report my WiFi finding. I have access to 3 different wireless router: 2 at my home, 1 at my friend's place

1 image show the actual error message. They way I get the message is
a) connect to wireless network
b) Setting -> Connections -> Wireless LAN
c) switch to any tab (Advance, Power Mode, LEAP, Enroll)

Once I get the message box, it'll keep popping up

I can turn off wifi, and keep on closing the messages, and I get back the machine
or I have to reboot

figured out how to fix the sound volume if anyone one is having this issue..

it does work, just make sure you click okay after each choice... I went and changed all the sound settings to 15

here is how to change the volume settings if you have low sound volume on ringers and text messages...
get into your registry...HKEY_CURRENT_USER/control panel/sound catagories/ring. Here you will find2 setting at the bottom..."InitVol" ans "Speaker". Open these both, and change the "value" number higher than what you show. I have both set to 15...initvol was at 5, speaker was at 8 when I first got it. I also opened up the "alarm" file at the top of the tree and made sure that speaker value was set to 15 as well.

BTW - I myselfe "The Lord of Black" switched to the .tsk with diamond in abckground! It is the FIRST time i´m using another tsk thatn the complete black one!

For me, yes, wifi is working, but the setting is throwing strange error report
Another thing is wifi security must be WEP. If I set to WPA-TKIP, it'll not connect.
However, using ttran's OT ROM (3.0 biggy and 4.0 Lite), I can connect just fine

I was changing the power usage. I set it to max performance, and then I want to set it back to the middle. That's when I start getting those strange errors

I can imagine compressing and uncompressing on the fly will have some kind of performance impact on a device like the Herald/Wing. For those that are using the UPX version, can you please describe some of your findings in terms of performance.

I've been using the UPX versionon my Wing for the last couple of days (first Beta testing then the release yesterday). From a program memory performance, this version actually offers me more when I run my Goodlink than I've seen on any other ROM so far. Speed is on par with many of the fast ROMs being developed by the great cooks on this forum. I have noticed that I get lock ups when I try to move too fast from one task to the next. For example, when I am in landscape finishing a sms, i send, shut keyboard to go to portrait, gesture down to remove start bar and then gesture up to refresh today screen the screen will go to portrait, start bar goes away, and today begins refresh then locks. This one has happened more than once. I have noticed also that running wi-fi and web browser (IE or Opera 9.5) draws the program memory WAY down, but I am pretty sure that is common to other ROMs that I've flashed. For the most part though I haven't seen any major degradation in performance.

i know that dude, the agenda refresh works but not the one for the topbar, and when i went inside the settings for the launcher it says that the gesture for refreshing topbar isnt even assigned to it at all just for refreshing the today pluggin.

damn. that blows. these are the times that insurrance comes in handy. ai think the lcd is a hundred something. having the phone replaced by insurrance is about the same price. i'd rather go through insurrance because i don't have to install it. then again, u're paying that extra monthly fee.
