question anyone know how i can re-enable the start bar (windows logo and signal strength)

im using a battery status theme thats looks different would like to re-enable that start bar if possible.

there is however a glitch on portrait mode the start menu bar is not visible but in landscape it appears when i flip the keyboard up and it remains unless i turn it off.

so you turned UL off on your today screen??? why??

none of them are really issues... and UL does work pretty good, you just have to read up on how to config it the right way... check out my blog for various pics that I have of the roms... right now i flashed back to the rc5 reg ( found out the mem leak i was having was from using msvc 1.6... didnt realize it takes up that much memory when installed, so I am uninstall that app right now gonna see how the memory is without it. )

okay I uninstalled it and now im running at about 21mb before hibernate and 23mb after hibernate for the last few hours...
when I havd msvc running I was down to about 15-17mb before hibernate and only gaining about 1mb after hibernate ( not including if i had anyother apps running at the same time.. )

there is a thread called ultimate launch reference thread that you can search for in this forum and it tells you how to do some cool things with it... ex) you can take your callender/today agenda and your weather and make them seperate pages... you just have to play with the height of the plugin to make it fit... i was using that same BS theme you have a few weeks ago, was good, but I needed quick access to the weather, and also like to have the maximum amount of memory available on my device being that I sometimes have multiple apps running at the same time.

in my experience you cannot use hibernate with MSVC, or it will kill some processes needed for MSVC to run reliably. That was an old version of ROM though, not sure about 5.0/5.3.

its all good... might try and reinstall msvc again later on... and see if it happens again... before I uninstalled it I had to soft reset alot.. now Ive been at 19.00mb+ all day since yesterday and havent had to do a single soft reset... I did like the voice announcement of incoming calls.

and when it was messing up i installed msvc 1.6 on the storage card ( per skillz instructions ) and maybe thats what was wrong with it...

just reinstalled msvc, and available memory dropped instantly to 16mb... soft reseting right now to complete the install..

okay so I went into PHM Reg Edit and then I went into HKEY_Current_User/ControlPanel/SoundCategories/Ring and changed InitVol to 15 but have noticed that it goes back to 5. Is there a reason? Is there somewhere to save my changes. I was trying to increase the volume as was mentioned earlier in this thread but nothing is changing. What am I doing wrong? By the way I edited all the volumes to 15 like someone else said they did and some stayed while others didn't.

i dont know why it happens but it happens.. some of the settings in the registry go back.. i forgot which ones they are but it was documented in a different post that i made and also in the same thread where the instructions are about changing the registry.

hey guys noticed that when i make or recieve a phone call the phone screen that would show elapsed time and number call is all black. all i can conclude from this is that the text is black on a black bckgd. how can i change or fix this????

not having that issue here... my numbers show all the time.. do you have any other apps installed that may have changed you dialpad theme???

no ther apps that would affect the dial pad theme.
actually i dont like the dial pad theme. i think the keys are two small i wind up hitting other buttons when dialing with my fingers. can i change it???

thats very wierd.. did you notice that at the very begining ( right after you flashed ). Cause i have noticed that while flashing i would encounter problems ( minor ) with either the camera, messaging, or something if while i was flashing i opened any program on the same computer. It seems crazy but lately i have been starting the flashcenter utility and when it starts at 0 percent i leave the computer alone and dont touch anything.. You might need to reflash or redownload the rom and flash again. If you havent already you should be using an exchange server based email so that all your contacts can be resynced easily.

Don't know if anyone mentioned it, but to fix the WLAN button on the CommManager for the TMO Wing, use this registry fix I found on another thread:

Change the HKLM\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN\DeviceName
Key to "TNETWLN1" after the "{GUID}\" text.

Well I feel its time to test these roms even harder as they are being made better, faster , stronger and with more thought in the process from our cooks.

OK out the box the rom moves smoothly. Checking ram for posting now let me install GXmark and dynamix #D for benchmark testing. Ok done and test are done. Also have to look for this memory leak that robert noticed. Ver y big leak the longer you use rom. Also plenty screen freezes.

I need to add my settings & owner information. Now time for the network Wizard. A small bug I believed it has been noted before just trying to cover everything is the wifi & bluetooth icons sometimes dissappear.

For some strange resaon I cant get back light to stay on . I even un-installed S2U2 to see if that was interfering .... Is that a bug or what I want the light to stay on I changed it in settings.

Ok the wifi is working correctly. Able to browse and update all weather programs ... Just PERFECT papamopps. To use internet explorer you must either goto the windows folder and run it or add a shortcut to it . The same with iContacts as well folks.

OK the MMS/SMS is 100% .. Thats a wonderful thing as I love using it . I thank you . Now the MMS /SMS does have the hack already included. But no audio on the video files recieved papa ...

Now for you folks who ask the same question 100 times.YES !!!!!! The MMS/SMS 1.2M hack is working and already installed by So if you want to complain about a rom remember if you don't speak up and tell the cook what you do and don't like then don't say anything at all. The cooks here are doing this out of appreciation , admiration and love of the art of cooking. If you think it is so easy then put out your own rom.[/COLOR]

Now remember I tested this on a t-moible wing . A lot of these problems may not occur on all phones. So if you have a different phone please post your findings.

A major bug I seen so far with all roms and all smart phones is the issue with hanging up a call when you choose to and not waiting 20 seconds or more until the phone chooses to hangup the call..

I've been trying to tweak my phone, and get a reliable way to lock the screen.
The problem that I'm having is: I can lock my screen, but the Hang up button stills works. So even though my phone is locked, I keep hanging up on people by accident. It gets annoying.

Currently:
I installed an app called device lock, created a short cut, placed it at the top of my start menu, and use that to lock my screen in 2 steps (press start then select). The icon on the today screen is too small to hit with your finger.

Is there a better app, or is there a way to disable the hangup button on screen lock?

i am using the same rom and very easy you can hold down the red phone for a few seconds and it will lock the phone for you.

I installed the ROM on 24 Jun 08 and today is 14 Jul 08 and I got those wonderful words of Trial Expired. Does anyone know where to get a non trial version?

nope thats becuase its part of spb software...
but you can always experiment with other software out there that lets you dial by contacts photo - but make a back up prior to doing so, that way if theres a conflict with the software then you can just run a restore...

btw. tinybatch is NOT only batterystatus. it is combined with other apps....

i will update 5.3 next days....and hope to find the leak...I DO not have it :d

I have all the pieces but not sure how the reset is put togetter... I have toggle and today reset in my \windows folder, but nothings triggering... am I missing some registry keys?

This is too funny. This was the first thing I did when I got the ROM because I didn't like the way the digits were jagged then I changed the xml file so that it doesn't scale down the image.

how do i activate the reminder for the calendar. normally, 15 min before an appointment the device reminds me. but even if i click this option when creating a new appointment, it won´t remind me...:confused:

I understand that SMS threading kills MMS messaging. However, from what I understood you included it in your rom along with MMS hacks because you got them to work.

Sorry if I misunderstood, but now MMS doesn't seem to work at all. It just says unable to send/receive. Should it work or not?

I'm using a T-Mobile Wing and everything else works perfectly, thank you very much. Just lacking the girlfriend's naughty pictures is all.

did you run network wizard or connections setup ( your carrier settings cab file )...

I couldn´t find anything using the search-button concerning this topic:

this is really easy, go to the appointment that you have set in the calender,hit edit, and the time frame will be there 15min etc.
also check the options in calender - menu tools and make sure the reminder is on to alert.
also check in the sound and notifications and make sure that the sound/type of sound is audible for you..
if you have Microsoft voicecommand it will also let you know thru the bluetooth headset !!!

yes. there will be a newer build...maybe 19965 from HTC Raphael or the 20226....if itje guide me through some bugs....

BUT not now...cause i got a new hobby....a Suzuki GS500E - motobike :D

the connection wizard .cab didnt set up my tmobile MMS settings, so i put em in manually.

from your messaging screen, go to menu, then MMS options, then servers. put this in for tmobile

Server Name: T-Mobile MMSC
Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port number: 9201
Server address: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Cnnect via: My Work Network
Sending size limitation: 100k
WAP version WAP 1.2

if you dont have tmobile in the US, google your providers name + mms settings :P

Noooooooo Papa, no quit cooking... my wing needs you!!! Take a look at the beginning of the thread and see the progress that has been made, see all the people with their kaisers and other devices waiting for this rom to be ported over... (which I tried to get the look of for a friend of mine and failed miserably). I may not be able to donate financially but I sure can donate my time to help people with basic knowledge if I know the answer (or google does).

However if there is a new release (RC6 perhaps?) maybe it should start a new thread... if you look at the first post it still shows the original with htc home and all the extension files for the theme that are no longer needed.

ItsPapaParadise is right around the corner. :D

Thanks for your guidance earlier today. I know that if I wasn't in a travel-crunch timeframe where I absolutely needed my phone working, I would have been a much better student ...

I went back and re-read the 5 pages that precede the page with the release links. I know I am in the distinct minority here -- as a newbie who loves this site -- and the amazing output -- yet gets incredibly painful headaches from trying to assimilate stuff from 4-5 sources all at once: a wiki, about 3-4 newbie threads, HardSPL threads, the list is endless. :D

For "the regulars" at XDA, the nomenclature and abbreviations and tech terminology are all understood. Now me? I create information design and do user-experience/ usability consulting for "the mainstream" -- ie -- average joe and joanna who go into a T-mobile store in USA and buy a phone.

So I am a distinctly difference "audience" than the dominant readers of these XDA threads.

I'm also told everywhere I post "shut up and get to the point with your questions!" (NOT REALLY, just the concise equivalent of that!)... whereas the XDA culture is, rightfully so, "this isn't working and I followed, XYZ." Answer: "you forgot to do V,W,X - like I wrote 100 times in the thread!@$#%@ !" :D

FWIW, I still don't "get" some very "101" concepts. Maybe there is a video demo and I missed it. I will go through this thread again. I had the maestro guiding me, but can you believe he had to leave to go ride his motorbike??

So I am staring at this new interface with a big scrollable list of TO-DO items filling bulk of screen. Have no idea what to do. I'm told to activate Ultimate Launcher, which I know FROM READING 100 times that it's not freeware, so I get that. But i don't know how to activate a trial.

I will stop now before I get slammed for another long post. But i know I am too late for that. :eek:

Oh yes. The reason I could not tell that Touchflow was installed is because (1) I *like* to use my stylus for some things, even WITH touchflo, and it was not recognized. (How was I supposed to know?) (2) When I finally tried with my finger, I found the response so slow and unresponsive. Same with in Album. finger scrolling was slow as molasses. So I find a parameter somewhere to chnage sensitivity of Touchflo -- yet have no frame of reference of which direction to dial up or down the number...

I have T-Mobile in USA -- and I could not figure out how to associate T-Mobile with my flashed phone. (sorry!) And all day long I get "your call cannot be completed" ...

I told papa I am going to, in near future, after I get my own urgent phone usage needs handled, record/edit a video that goes soup to nuts, every single detail from my T-Mobile WING to finding the right thread, to noting HardSPL requirements (but I won't call it that), to downloading, to showing how Rapidshare works, to how to arrange your files on PC prior to flashing, to video of entire process of first installing HardSPL, then all the subsequent moment-by-moment actions all the way til Papa's new Rom is installed.

Despite all the help in threads, and all the warnings, and all the "it's obvious if you just read the damn thing", I found about 10 key questions, steps during the flash process which to me were "undocumented" (in a relative sense -- as in, not in sight on that thread, and not easy to conjure up in mind of a newbie from reading 10 newbie threads over 2 weeks!) -- only because pros here have done these steps 1000 times, and so they understand all the nuances like when you connect the USB cable, and when not to, etc.

I'm not promising when, but I want to give back to this community, and I will do so with a video aimed ONLY AT NEWBIES.... and I will frame the whole operation much differently than in these accurate tech terminology terms used here. Once I stepped back hours after completeing the process, the whole process, at the macro level, was so much easier than I understood after drowning in easily 25 threads, cross-referencing HardSPL here with ROM there and RUU another place and bootloader another place etc. ... You never know! Such a video might get all us newbies off the backs of the great chefs here -- so you can focus on what you love -- and not the 10,000th walkthrough for someone like me :)

The key is reading the newbies guide to flashing first!!!
everything else will fall into place... if you were having a issue with your calls not being completed, that sounds like a issue that is not related to the rom, probably the radio...
No one has ever had that issue in any of the rom flashing threads that i have been a part of.

But quite seriously, I've read at least 4 guides, and some people are visual processors, and no amount of text descriptions are going to imprint certain precepts inot the brain.

But I'm bowing out of this kind of discussion because it is not about a complaint I am making, but neither is it a deficiency in me... Hanggliding is a sport that is very easy... once you've done it a few times. But when you watch someone run off a mountain top and suddenly go airborne, it sorta looks easy, but the mind catalogues 100 obstacles (or fears) you wonder about, including something akin to bricking one's phone... and that would be bricking one's self down the mountain side. :)

I know this site is for enthusiasts and developers, and no way I am seeking to create a ruckus. I will just say this last thing: The first rule of usability design is... if any user makes an error, it matters not that said error was mentioned clearly on post #3 of a 153-post thread, and ALSO on post 1 of that thread "everyone knows about" from 6 months ago that's in the sig-file links of all the regulars...

I fully understand: *I* am the aberration. I don't mind that status, because I know I did all the homework -- unlike the "hey, show me how to do this, I gotta run in a minute and just tell me which files" users. In fact I think I should get a trophy in my name as "Least Likely To Understand Directions Even When Explained 10 times" :D :p

if you have AIM( instant messenger )use it... this is too much text on here to answer this question....

TRY THIS Before flashing any ROMs in the future :
1. Download any cabs files that you feel you will install to your device ( ex. network connection, connection wizard, nocabdelete, schaps config tool, etc )
2. put all your cabs that you feel you will use on your storage card.
3. check to make sure that you are using a tmo compatable radio - 3.18.90 or 3.21.xx
4. after you flash your rom, runthe network connectins or network wizard immediately ( if it hasnt been installed - make sure you install nocabdelete or run schaps tool so that cab files are not deleted after install ).
5. when network wizard finishes do a soft reset ( it will tell you to do so anyway ).
6. make sure you are in area in which signal strength is strong.
7. sometimes you have to reflash the ROM to fix some errors, that is if you did everything correctly. No one else in this thread or that I have seen has had that problem so it must be user error not the cooks error...
if you have further questions regarding the matter IM me on AOL

this is the easiest rom by far to config and set up, just follow the instructions...
and also is your device hardspl ????

also after installing network wizard - go to settings, connections, network wizard... click it and then choose United States - then Tmobile as the carrier, then okay --- it will say configuring device to tmobile settings... let it finish and then it will say its time to reboot when finish, click yes for reboot and thats it... as long as you get good reception wherever you are it will work....

BUT there will be RC6 with enwer build some day.... but when i see that 5.3 has some memory leak for some people I NEVER HAVE and i really didn´t change anything on the baserom...i run out of ideas how to make RC6 perfect...if i cannot get RC5 running correct :D

cause i cannot just include todayrefresh into RC5 - i do NOT have it anymore as kitchen :( i only have RC5.3 cause it never made trouble for me :D

I apologize. I don't know what to say. Yes, yes indeed you spent an hour or MORE on chat with me. And very patiently helped me and explained what I would see next and very much hand-holding. I have been completely appreciative, and I am just sorry it seems different from my posts.

I wasn't complaining about your ROM or instructions. I was trying (but failed at it) to just note that some people (okay, maybe just me) have prepped and still can't hold it all in head insequence. Even with printouts, which I had.

The last thing i wanted to do was piss you off. So, apologies again. I support XDA community, and i donate to show that.

I might be on to something regarding the Leak. Ive been running RC5.3 since about 5am this morning and so far i think i figured it out. i noticed a dip in memory that didnt rebound much from the today agenda portion of UL reloading after timeout. I might be on to something regarding the Leak. Ive been running RC5.3 since about 5am this morning and so far i think i figured it out. i noticed a dip in memory that didnt rebound much from the today agenda portion of UL reloading after timeout. Go to the Notifications tab and check the pull-down menu for "Phone: Incoming Call" if the option is activated.

you would need to use total commander and copy the shortcut for the .lnk file which is located in the windows folder on the device and then paste it in the programs folder within the windows/start menu / programs folder. then icontacts will show in the buttons menu

Papa could you provide the HTC Home theme you created?

Why is it that when I edit the default.xml for BS that the todaytoggle auto function disables. I remove everything but the top bar seeing as how I dont need those functions. And there is nothing that is blatant as to what runs todaytoggle after keyboard movement.

Hey, im somewhat new to the cooked roms, however i followed the instructions throughout the forum and i put this ITsPapaBlackDiamond_19949.1.2.0 rom on my wing, and everything went through smoothly, however i've noticed my wing locking up alot so i was curious if this is a known issue, if others are having this problem and if so, is their a way to solve the problem. If anyone has any idea, id appreciate it.

papa removed the shortcuts from the rom because you can access messages from the BS plugin on the today screen. Once again if you need to make a shortcut for any programs that included in the rom, use total commander and make a shortcut to make a link / shortcut.. I posted directions in a previous post.

oh never had that problem.. i think you and one other person had that problem out of probably hundreds.. but sometimes reflashing can sometimes fix stuff that doesnt happen to everyone.

Yeah that other person would be me :p Happens to me quite a bit actually maybe cause I'll flash like 10 roms while avoiding the stock one. As soon as I flash the stock one and whatever it is I'm trying to flash its all good.

Hey papa I'm still trying to replicate the batterystatus theme on my friends Kaiser but havent been able to figure out the sliding effect. Any help? I have both toggle and today refresh, have toggle in the startup folder but is the rest registry keys?

Or even better, any updates on those people porting the whole rom to the kaiser?

Everytime I try to flash with any of these ROM's, it gets about 5% done and then errors and tells me that the ROM file is corrupted. Anyone know why that is?

Is your phone HardSPL or are you using FlashCenter? If you're not using either one, then search about them. (Do NOT search for HardSPL if your SPL is lower than 4.0.)

I just HardSPL'd it before I did the ROM and yes, I use FlashCenter. I am going to try one of the full versions now since I was trying the Micro versions.

Yea, I figured that out about 5 minutes before your reply. The micro version only had the .nbh file, hence why I assumed I needed to HardSPL lol. I do have one more question.... how do I change the background image? I know how to change themes since I make a lot of them myself, however, when I change them from the today screen... the only thing that actually changes are the bars at the top and bottom. Any suggestions?

Internet Sharing ....... Untested .... I am still looking for a good hack for it free.

Memory Leak ......... I have to say NO . But different people may see something different.

MMS ....... Working but no audio on files recieved.

Office ....... Working with OneNote Mobile.

OZ Communication ...... Is a biggie as I dont have a data plan. Working perfectly.

Phone Calling ......... Works well after fresh restart but later in day has its issues..

Phone Key Pad .... Another hot papa keypad. With a smooth flow to it.

Picture Viewing ...... Pictures & Video the norm is there & working perfectly with the camera.

Ringtones ........ Working with only 4 choices.

SMS ....... Working 100% . Just excellent.

Texting with Keyboard ...... Perfect no neeed for a fix ....

Voice Command ...... Not installed so I added my own ....

Wifi ....... working well.

Windows Media ...... Doesnt play any video.....

Well I feel its time to test these roms even harder as they are being made better, faster , stronger and with more thought in the process from our cooks.

OK out the box the rom moves smoothly. Checking ram for posting now let me install GXmark and dynamix #D for benchmark testing. Ok done and test are done.

I need to add my settings & owner information. Now time for the network Wizard. Wait a sec ..... Where is my 30m of free ram papa ??????? at least 29plus but im down to 26 plus .....

For some strange resaon I cant get back light to stay on . I even un-installed S2U2 to see if that was interfering .... Is that a bug or what I want the light to stay on I changed it in settings.

Ok the wifi is working correctly. Able to browse and update all weather programs ... Just PERFECT papamopps. To use internet explorer you must either goto the windows folder and run it or add a shortcut to it . The same with iContacts as well folks.

Well I see that papa's rom has held up as long as its been in my phone . It has its moments. I still cant stand not being able to hang up on an incoming call while on a call. I get the occasional crashed screens where I have to reset.

Another thing which I dont like is the lag on messaging .... As you can see in the pictures on my review page I do send an awful lot of messaging ., But maybe its the fact that my phone has a few thousand of messages in it.....

OK the MMS/SMS is 100% .. Thats a wonderful thing as I love using it . I thank you . Now the MMS /SMS does have the hack already included. But no audio on the video files recieved papa ...

Now for you folks who ask the same question 100 times.YES !!!!!! The MMS/SMS 1.2M hack is working and already installed by So if you want to complain about a rom remember if you don't speak up and tell the cook what you do and don't like then don't say anything at all. The cooks here are doing this out of appreciation , admiration and love of the art of cooking. If you think it is so easy then put out your own rom.[/COLOR]

Now remember I tested this on a t-moible wing . A lot of these problems may not occur on all phones. So if you have a different phone please post your findings.

A major bug I seen so far with all roms and all smart phones is the issue with hanging up a call when you choose to and not waiting 20 seconds or more until the phone chooses to hangup the call..

WOW !!!! .. At first touch the rom is just a pleasure to use. papamopps. And to the best of my knowledge no memory leaks ..... Bottom line is his rom took the azz whipping I put on it.

rom has been in my phone so long that I thought the phone came that way ....

I hope my review of this rom helps many in their questions as I tried to cover as much space as possible. If you feel something is missing please make a note of it so for future note my reviews will be as full as possible.

And a note to [B]gambit For testing rom after rom with me ...... I hope you get a Kaiser soon to test these roms with me as well ....
