How To Stop Device From disconnecting From internet

When im connected to the internet often i put my phone in my pocket and most of the time i press the red key which disconnects the egde or gprs connection on my hp ipaq 514 is there a way to disable the red key from killing my connection or remap to the ptt key which i never use

If you use a program which locks your phone (i.e S2U2), it might disable any keys from being used until you unlock, just a thought.
