How do you tell if OMAPCLOCK is working correctly on WM6.1?
Any problem if I set it above 280MHZ? It seems to be stable but I have no way of verifying it.

The OMAPClock set is made by me,and it have a background app to keep the Clock you set.
this app Call OMAPClock.exe to set the clock of OMAP CPU...
And if your Excalibur is made in Taiwan, this means your Excalibur have good quality, and it's cpu can over clock more than 276.
if your Excalibur is made in China, means your Excalibur only can Overclock less than 252

Funny I was just having a conversation this morning about how its changed over the years, from the worst to the best in electronics from Taiwan. ...while Chineses imports, from textiles to tech, are poorer than they have ever been before. The opposite of 20 years ago. I have a 1 year old pair of "real" Doc Martens, made in China, that are falling apart, while my 14 year old pair of the same model, made in U.K., are still serviceable.
Back on topic--
Glad to know why my OC'ing results have been so inconsistent from Dash to Dash.

Very good question.
I believe Kavana will answer too, but I don't see this feature as impossible - OMAPClock will run constantly, but when recognize some proccess (set by user) the program will be increase the speed - smart, because when your Dash is in your pocket or you just set alarm or write some sms there is no reason to clock it.
What do you think, kavana?

I do not think that is possible to do, just inject it in when a specific program is running...

It is possible, but i believe you need mem maid.. (what i believe people were using back when the Wizard came out. May want to dig up some old posts on howardforums...) As for the overclock, i have mine set to 272 or 288 (i forget) when the screen backlight is active/bright, normal clock speed when backlight is active/dim and underclocked to lik 160-ish (maybe lower) when the screen is off. (have to check actual numbers, since i never actually interface with OMAP) So it only overclocks when its in use and underclocks to save battery when not in use. I use the Tornado Power control from the surreal networks site http://mobile.surrealnetworks.com (but i have it on stock WM 6.0 on a shadow. used it on the dash too, so i dont see why it wouldnt work on 6.1)

JDoggraz...I'm currently using 240mHz because I'm a scaredy-cat. I can definitely tell the difference from the default 200mHz (which I think wasn't quite 200...) and my battery life is moderate. It doesn't drain THAT much faster than the default mHz, but the speed/performance increase is worth it.

Easy !
1/ Install MortScript
2/ Create a script using notepad and save it as .mscr
Sample
# Launch overclock à XXX ( the desired speed )
run \Windows\OmapClock.exe, -clock XXX
# Pause to start
sleep 1000
# Launch TomTom
run \Program Files\Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe
# End of script
as I'm using TomTom 6, I also need a fake cursor, so my first lines are
# Launch fake cursor
run \Windows\FakeCursor.exe
# Pause to Start
sleep 500
To have a shortcut with the TomTom icon
Create one on the device, transfer it on your pc
Open notepad and drag it in
Copy and paste the line below and save it
-104#"\Program Files\MortScript\TomTom.mscr"?\Program Files\Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe,-101
! Don't forget the " - " !
Et voila

Longer than i can remember. I have had evey one of my WM device overclocked, usually from day 1. As for battery, i gave up caring about that a long time ago. I charge when needed. Carry a retractable usb cable with me and im always around a computer to charge it up. Otherwise, i throw it on a car charger. On average, charge 1x a day. if i get heavy use, then maybe a midday charge. People seem to bug out over battery life... and i do agree it should last longer, but if you want battery life, dont get a Windows based phone. Simple as that... (or get an extended battery or carry 2. Its the price to pay to have hottest "toys")

Where was your phone manufactured? China or Taiwan? I heard that it makes a difference regarding how fast you can set your overclock settings. Taiwanese Dashes/Excaliburs can apparently withstand being o/c'd at 288mhz, but Chinese cannot. They tend to freeze and lock up when set that high.

My 1st Dash i overclocked to 252 (I think) and it locked up on me after only a few hours. It was made in China. After resetting it back to stock I still kept getting error messages, it kept crashing, basically I probably damaged the CPU.
My current Dash is running fine at 240 but I'm afraid going faster or even to keep it at that speed as I live here in florida I'm kinda worried about the heat. I wonder if the high temps here in florida are an influence to my CPU's performance and thats why my old one crashed and never really got back to normal even at 201MHz.
I love it at 240MHz. My brother in law has a Moto Q9 World running at 400 and that thing is amazing. It just looks too much like a brick and its uncomfortable on the ear. But I'm currious the see the new dash. I think I'll definetly upgrade if and when available.

funny you say that, I've had mine overclocked to 276 Mhz (but the moment I overclock it to 288 Mhz, my phone locks up) and it's been like that since I got the phone, atleast most of the time and ever since I upgraded to 6.1, I've had it set to 276 MHz allowing me to do whatever I want without any lockups or low processing speed.
Ricky - Apparently, the version you have matters, Mine's Made in Taiwan while others that can't overclock more than 240 MHz are the Made in China model. So, please be careful before you overclock your phone.
If it's Made in Taiwan, you can go up to 276 Mhz and if it's Made in China then, 240 Mhz i think is the max you can go.

the phone will power up with a sim error....do not hit OK the moment you hit ok omapclock will be restarted at288 and your phone will lock.
instead...connect your usb cable and your phone will connect to your computer using activesync.
once connected go to your windows/startup folder and DELETE OMAPCLOCKKEEP (i think thats what its called spelling may be off)
NOW hit OK on your phone to get out of the sim error screen and VOILA!
your phone is now back to normal without having to hard reset!!!
hope this helps someone!

I've been running at 276 MHZ for a very long time now and I have no heat up problems nor does my phone lock up. My phone is Made in Taiwan, maybe that's why I have had no problems but I do have to admit that once past 276 i.e. 288 Mhz, phone does lock up, unfortunately.
Don't push it more than 276 Mhz on a Taiwanese - make and not more than 252 Mhz on a Chinese Make.
Enjoy Overclocking!

My Dash was made in China and it locked up on me while o/c at 252. I had used 228 and 240 for a good while without any hiccups. When I o/c to 252, I noticed the increase in speed--but I would've been royally screwed the next day. I woke up around 3:00am and noticed that my phone still displayed 8:21pm from the day before! My alarm was set for a very important event the next day! I would've been up the creek had I not realized this. From then on, it's been 240 for Syntaxx.

i overclocked my phone to 288 using omap then it froze now everytime i restart my phone it keeps freezing i tried to perform a reset but cant because phone wont boot is there anything i can do please help
Dude you don't have to reset the phone ,it happens the same to me what i did is remove the sim card (that don't let the phone charge startup programs) it will sent you the message theres no sim card ...... ok so you connect your phone via activesync don't close the (theres no sim) message because if you close it it will charge the startupprograms and obviusly it will charge the omap so you go to \windows\Startup and delete the omap entry and thats it disconnect from activesync close the no sim message and voila.
Original Idea :D.

I did the same thing!
Here is how I recovered.
On Phone
Turn power off, remove battery
Remove SIM
Power the unit back on
Error screen will say "no SIM"
Dont do anything on the phone
Plug in uSB
On PC
Start>My Computer>Mobile Device
Select System Folder (My Windows Mobile-Based Device)
Windows>Startup
Delete "OMAPClockKeep"
Now reboot the device
You can do this many times until the OMAPClock setting gives you the fastest operation
Cheers

Anything higher and it hangs when loading the homescreen.Guy would you please explain, why would you want to over clock a TI OMAP850 processor? What is the over clocking MYTH that you have been told. Do you really know what you are doing to your phone's processor. Why give your dash/Excalibur a heart attack.................!:D

I know what I'm doing to my processor and the responsiveness that is achieved is worth it in my opinion. I have a 2400mah extended battery so killing the battery is not a problem. I also never stated that I run my phone all the time at the aforementioned speed and insurance is a great thing just in case a meltdown occurs. :p MYTH, I don't understand what you mean. You think overclocking does nothing in respect to accelerating the calculations performed on the phone, thereby accelerating the programs on the phone. I rather it die of a heartattack than lethargy, hehe

i tried to overclock my phone (made in china) to 276, and it did continuous soft resets until i did what was said on post #63.
i wish i had known that when i overclocked it to 288 the first time.
but anyway, does anybody know why i couldn't run my phone at even 276?
everytime it rebooted, the second i typed in my password at startup, it did another soft reset
odd.
any ideas?

so let me get this straight, the overclocking only runs when the app is running in the background? (kinda like the light dimmer) so if i stop the app with the task manager the cpu automaticly returns to normal speed right?

Yeah do not overclock over 276 Mhz in the 6.1 Kavana RUU_Excalibur_WM61_Kavana_080408_WWE ROM it will do 288 but will lock up eventually or right away, 264 Mhz is the best top speed for this s621, i find if u underclock to 133 Mhz this phone on Kavana 6.1 Runs real good and batt life is nice.

if you use it with the power manager app. forget the exact name, but they can be found together usually and will install at the same time if you get that cab.

YES! Good thinking! Helped me big time just now. I was JUST about to hard reset. Worked perfectly, thank you. I was thinking about something like this too since the overclock is software based and the phone wont lockup/freeze till u get past the SIM error screen. Very good thinking! Thanks agian.:D

i went from sidekick 1, II and III to the dash to the touch pro to the g1.
the dash is cool..but as i have said before, it cant really be developed any further than it is now. hardware limits this. so the dash is cool until you want really modern features like the 3g, gps etc.. the dash will never have these capabilities. you can plug in a gps module and stuff, but thats not really what i want. as far as the g1....right now, no, its not the best phone ive ever used or even close to. but the idea behind android and how young it is made me stick with it. i love all the shit google does and with this phone, you can see daily development improvements which i think says a lot for the future of this phone/os. and the possibilities are endless with it being open source.
i guess my thought is that in a few months or maybe more, who knows, this thing is going to really hit its mark and do some really cool shit yet not be bound to crazy licensing and all that bs.
just my thoughts after using the g1 and the dash.

hey guys, i think this is my first post. I guess that's what lurking does to ya!
I also just checked the post date on this and i think i may be reviving an older one but oh well.
I switched over to an older version of kavana in December off of the youtube video.
I can't remember what made me come on here but i check out stuff about everyday now.
I have Kavana 080408 rickywatt's V24 Vanilla. Should probably grab the extras just in case i like them.
Anyways, back to the point. I had my (Chinese) dash overclocked at 264 for over a week or so and the only think i noticed was the severe increase in battery life.
I kinda got addicted to that speed so clocking it back a little kinda makes me sad. I think i'm gonna pick up a new battery, probably a 2200mAh.
I would like to see pictures of people with the different sized batterys in them (cover on) to decide which to get. The one Herel (http://www.pdapreferred.com/htc-s620-pda-and-pocket-pc-extended-battery-2200-mah-cs-dc700xl-.html) Looks kinda stupid to me just from what i can see in the picture. I prefer a little less drastic change from where the battery is to the back. (i.e. more tapered)
Any pics would be great!
Thanks!

My phone was made in China and It will run, at least for now it is, just fine at 288MHz.
Took me a bit to find the program to make it go higher, but lucky for me it doesnt keep those valuses cause it lasted about 5 seconds at 300MHz.
Figured I would Throw it out there to show not all of the ones made in china are bad. I have had it clocked to 252MHz for weeks now with no problems.
Not that it matters but here's a screenshot of the clock set that gets kept. It has booted up just fone 2 times at 288MHz
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/EternalSoil/Captured-1.jpg
I'll probably bring it back down because my phone is my alarm in the morning and i cant have it not wake me up.
Might try to keep it at 288 for a day or so when I can sleep in.

The OMAPClock set is made by me,and it have a background app to keep the Clock you set.
this app Call OMAPClock.exe to set the clock of OMAP CPU...
And if your Excalibur is made in Taiwan, this means your Excalibur have good quality, and it's cpu can over clock more than 276.
if your Excalibur is made in China, means your Excalibur only can Overclock less than 252
I wish I didn't know about this... :(
