I bought the Gripper 3 (http://www.expansys-usa.com/d.aspx?i=142067) from HR Richter with holder Global 9
I now have a E-ten M700 with original holder (http://www.pdashop.be/product-gallery/41206/0), the back and sides of the phone now have scratches because of the holder.
So if you want to protect you're phone against scatches buy a universal holder,
and every time you buy another phone you don't have to buy another holder.

I want to buy Herbert Richter GRIPPER 3 (http://www.expansys-usa.com/p.aspx?i=142067) for the diamond but can anyone suggest which kind of arm buy? I have a Toyota Yaris and the windscreen it's far away from driver...
i think this one it's ok: Herbert Richter GLOBAL 2 Banana Suction Mount (http://www.expansys-usa.com/p.aspx?i=142059) but it's sufficient long ?
the other two are: Herbert Richter GLOBAL 4 Rotating Tower Suction Mount (http://www.expansys-usa.com/p.aspx?i=142058)
Herbert Richter Gooseneck Suction Mount (http://www.expansys-usa.com/p.aspx?i=142060)
gooseneck can be long enough but what about vibrations ??

Linda, this is what we call BAD timing from a manufacturer point of view.
Your team's were not aware about this upcoming product
It would take me 10 days to make a mold in Guangzhou, so I guess you're having other issues @ brodit no?
So, Proclip, or holdmyphone.com will neither obtain the holder as they buy from Brodit SE ?
I paid 106 USD for a Brodit Honda CRV clip + holder for my TytnII, and I do not complaint about the fricking price for 2 pieces of plastic , but at least I and many others hope on a good - quick - service.
Just my two cents.

Hi All,
I have been asked by a few users to post that Brodit have now prepared a full range of Diamond holders, and all are currently being manufactured with pre orders being taken to ensure delivery as soon as the 1st stocks arrive.
http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/Holder/HTC+Touch%20Diamond-Brodit-Holder.asp (http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/Holder/HTC+Touch%20Diamond-Brodit-Holder.asp)
The range available is:
1) Passive (no charging but you can plug in your own charging cable)
2) Active (charging via cig lighter lead moulded into the holder)
3) Active ( for fixed installation via open cable connection to vehicles Power supply)
4) 3 in 1 ( in essence a passive holder, but with a 40cm long 3 in 1 connection adapter to plug in your own charger lead, headset and audio out if required)
5) 3 in 1 ( as above, in essence a passive holder, but with a 3cm long 3 in 1 connection adapter to plug in your own charger lead, headset and audio out if required)
Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions, ill try my best to respond;
Many Thanks

Guys,
This Herbert Richter holder comes without the arm right?
Can this holder be used with the arm that comes with the P3300/Cruise? (It's from Germany, and I don't know the name)
Coz I have P3300 arm which I used for the Cruise as well (just changed the holder). Really good arm, and I wish to continue using it with the diamond.
Thanks!

In the description for the 3 in 1 active holder it says you can plug in the origial headset and charger, can anyone comfirm that this will allow you to use the hands free part of the headset and be able to make calls. I would like to replace my M700 mount, which I can Make calls on via the car stereo and microphone but cant charge it.

I got my phone and the car kit yesterday - the only gripe I have with the car charger is that the speaker is fixed to the lighter socket jobbie and can foul the gearstick - a flexible joint would be useful. However, the sound quality is excellent, and being a handsfree as well as charger is a bonus. Recommended!

Its a bluetooth (voice / music) car kit.
Works perfectly with the diamond (currently using bepe's 0.95 ROM)
I had some problems when using it with other WM6 phones (like the cruise), but with the diamond it works great.

For those who want to buy a complete solution, just check on this website (http://www.cricel.com/hr/8833-support_pda_pour_htc_p3700_diamond_hr_herbert_rich ter_24853_0.html). This holder is the HR's one, and you can buy the arm of your choice. I ordered mine yesterday for 34,70€ (inc. delivery fee), which is a fair price. I am now waiting for the delivery, and I will be back to you to say if everything is ok.

The sound quality is very good with none of the interference that you can get with some cheaper charger/handsfree kits. I've used TT7 briefly and the voice commands come through the speaker. The volume seems good for a small speaker, and is audible with the roof down (I'm a rag top man!), but would be drowned out with music playing loudly - but if you want to hear naviagtion commands you'd probably turn the music down, right? :)
I haven't used the handsfree phone part of the system - the mic is on the main part of the cradle, so hopefully will pick up your own speech. Allin all, I think it's very good value, especially as I've coupled it to a Brodit swivel mount for flexibility.

Yes - very easy to do. I have a vent clip which mounts the swivel "cup", and it just needs one 7mm hole drilling to get access to the Brodit mounting/tightening screw, and two smaller holes to screw the other part of the mount to the back of the charger. I'll try to post some pictures ASAP.

Yes - very easy to do.
Thanks mate, that's very helpful .. the only thing I need to think of is that my Orbit is still in use by another driver of this car ... the ideal solution I think would be to buy a dummy Orbit phone, stick this holder to front of it, and then the brodit base can be used with both devices )

You connect your diamond on this and it loads the battery, let the sound come from the speakers of the car and has an integrated mic.
I have two questions before buying :
- Have some people here already tried this kind of stuff ?
- Do you think it is compatible with all car holders ?

I´ve this FM Transmitter.
1) It don´t charge you Phone  (it´s only for the transmitter)
2) You have to find a "clear" frequence and that´s depending on where you live
3) While you are going with you car the frequences of the radio stations are changing so maybe at your home the frequence 99.1 is free, but 5km away this frequence is occupied by another radio station so you have to search another frequence (obviously not recommended while driving).

Cheap solution indeed ;) - I had a kind of those for my mdac3... It's hard to release the device one-handed. And after a time it can start to scratch your device on the left side where it clips in.
I really hope there will be a victor compatible holder from brodit in the near future.

My only concern is: while navigating the Diamond gets a bit hot..... Won't this cause troubles in this carkit??? Since it is connected to the windshield and not a air vent there isn't a lot of ventilation behind it?

How's your brother getting on with this ? I've got a bluetooth handsfree fitted in my car so this would be ideal for SatNav. I had something similiar for my HTC Elf and it worked very well :)

I'm looking at buying one of those holders... Is it possible to NOT USE the handsfree part of the system? I mean can I only charge my phone using this holder? I prefer to use bluetooth headsets, as they keep my calls private... ;) But at the same time I like the slim design of the holder and the vibration-free arm, so I'm willing to pay extra $$$ for the unnecessary handsfree. :)

I don't think it's possible. There is a switch on it to charge/not charge the phone, plus a volume control, and a button to answer the phone, but there isn't any control to mute the sound or disconnect the phone. If you wanted to do that, probably better to use the Diamond USB cable, and buy a USB charger for the lighter socket in your car. That way, you're charging the phone but you can put the phone on bluetooth for your headset. Cheaper, too!

No - use a USB ->mini USB cable with a little device that plugs into the lighter socket and has USB sockets on it. (Like this - http://www.expansys.com/zoompic.aspx?type=item&i=101668 )
The mini-USB goes to the Diamond, plug the other end of the USB into the lighter socket gizmo, and you're charging/powering the phone. Then switch to bluetooth
et voila1 Connected!

The adaptor is not powerful enough, it will work but below the specs. It should be 1A to charge the battery at the fastest rate.

I've got one of these, and whilst it's ok when your just charging the phone, it doesn't provide enough power to charge the phone and use SatNav. Used about half of the battery on a 1 hour journey. Not sure what it would have used without it though. Better than nothing, but not good enough. I bet that using BT as well and making calls it probably wouldn't cope at all.

A question that cannot be answered but by the manufactor as it depends on how it was designed. It may be that the max output on one string is limited to 1 A to reduce heat/damage to the device. My dual recharger i 6W which results in 1.2 A, and it works great, but then again it is rare that I recharge both phone and bat at the same time.

The iTube one looks like mine (the original HTC CU S170, which is great) and fetures a charger with a whitebluish HTC logo like the phone recharger rather than the usual red LED. I added a Y cable and a Bekin FM transmitter which allows my to define two preset frequences.
The down side is that I cannot use TA (as the car radio tunes away from the radio transmitter frequency in this case) and the TD FM receiver is picking-up noice, and is diffucult to operate while driving with the navigation on. But for my MP3 files it works just fine.

To overcome any shaking I let the neck touch the dashboard and it's dead steady. You can also get types that clicks into the vents, which I came accross during my quest for a suitable solution.

I thought that was a good idea for my last window mount until I removed it and found it had worn through the dash finish to show shiny metal underneath. I think if you have hard plastic dash you should be OK but if it has a smooth/soft finish like that in a Renault Megane (2004) be careful. I'm looking for a suitable replacement that won't damage my dash any more.

Oh dear. Nice car, which I convinced my parrants to buy some time back (they are on the third one now), though I have the major competitor, i.e. Citroen Picasso. I guess that must be hard plastic as I have used the concept for two years with my Mio A701 before changing the phone. Have you thought about putting a double gluing inbetween. I think this should solve the problem and not look too bad.

Its not really held into the holder other other than the usb connection and slight pressure from the sides of the cradle. I don't think mine would fall out even under fast cornering, I probably would have it slightly off completely horizontal to be safe.

Hello
Does anyone know of a holder (like the Brodit) that actually support plugging the USB into a computer?
I have a CarPC in the car, and would like to connect the Diamond to this for charging and using it as 3G network.
Unfortunately the Brodit dosen't support USB data (only charging)
So does anyone know of a holder where the miniUSB just dosent end in a Cig plug or 2 wires for power.
(Don't really care if the USB plug is actually on the wire, can always add the plug myself. But the miniUSB must be full wired)

I'm not sure how much bigger the silicone case makes the phone, you might be able to remove the foam bits on the side/back of the cradle but I think it will be a bit of a squeeze, any other case won't fit.

I can confirm that the brodit active holder (40cm one that splits 3 ways) does the microphone side of things as well as stereo output and charging. At the moment I have hacked up an old pair of headphones and wired these via a microphone and an FM modulator to the car stereo, and power to the phone via a cigarette lighter, so I can listen to media player (crap) and make phone calls via the radio. However when the power is connected there is a slight electronic interference constantly, much the same as my old M5000 that had seperate jacks for sound and power.
I think I am going about this in the wrong way and am thinking about wiring the stereo output to a 2 chanel amp instead of the FM modulator and wiring this into the 2 front speaker wires. I think this may eliminate the interference from the charger possibly being picked up from the modulator.

Yep, was gonna get the brodit but didn't want to pay the extra for less features.
Its excellent value for money, very sturdy (I adapated mine for my car rather than using the windscreen sucker). The only slight issue is that the mic isn't very sensitive but I do have it placed on the far side of the dash. Also, the speaker/cigarette lighter plug might look a bit bulky depending where your lighter socket is.

I got one of these too, very sturdy as you say, the handsfree volume is pretty good (I have to turn the volume down a bit) and when I've asked people I've called how the volume is for them they thought it was fine.
I do have one issue though, while the call/disconnect button seems to disconnect fine, it doesn't activate my MS voice command with a long press. Not sure if this is a software problem or hardware though but vc on my bt headsets button works fine so probably the unit itself.
Anyone else confirm if their MS VC is activated properly with a long press on the units button?

I finally got one of these from Brando (http://shop.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=02698&dept_id=060&cat_id=0858) in HKG. Same unit as described above but I just added a photo again so readers can see what is being talked about. Delivered to Australia in about a week.

Thanks keko001 for the suggestion.
My Observations
Pro's
1) Buttons and knobs work exactly as advertised.
2) Green for Charger ON and Red for OFF is counter intuitive. (Trivial)
2) The phone holder works really well portrait and landscape. Very little chance of the phone falling out.
Con's
1) Because you have to slide the phone about 3cm to remove it, this can restrict where you site the unit on a sloping windscreen.
2) Arm articulation is not ideal if you intend to frequently rotate between landscape and portrait. This is because the rotation joint is behind the first elbow on the Arm. Most people will have this elbow bent to get proper orientation. Therefore when you rotate between portrait and landscape the plane of the phone changes as well. This is a nuisance that could have easily been addressed by placing the rotation joint at adjacent to the phone holder. In the designers defense they probably did not envisage a phone that would be flipped landscape portrait regularly.
3) Because of 1) & 2) siting the unit in my car was problematic as compared to a flexible arm. OTOH most flexible arms cannot readily flip portrait/landscape.
4) If you use a lanyard on your phone it is somewhat harder but still possible to use in the cradle. (If you do not press it all the way home it will charge but the handsfree/headset indicator does not come on)
Comments / Questions
1) Does anyone know if it is possible to map the "single press to voice dialer" to go instead to Contacts list?
2) Is there a way to get the phone to turn on when placed in the cradle?
3) No problem with GPS. Works fine for me. (Someone else had a problem with this.)
Build quality is a little on the cheap side but I still think it is good value for the price.

what if you have a bigger battery? e.g. the "turtle" one with 1800ma will it still fit?
thanks

No,
Because there are 4 rubber strips in the cradle to hold the phone firmly in place. Two on the sides and two at back. Increasing the phone thickness at all would prevent it fitting in.

If I have tomtom running, would it charge the Diamond?
What is the output current of this charger?

I've recently got the Brando too and yes it does have enough juice to run tomtom and charge the battery at a good rate.
My only gripe was that I couldn't get MS Voice command to activate with a long button press but have just updated my rom to a new one with Cyberon VC and it works fine on that :)
In the meantime (tonight to be precise), I've been modding my old car holder for other purposes by bodging a bracket to replace the sucker and arm and will mainly use it for plotting my rides with Trackme & TomTom rather than taking calls :p

Still have to wire in a usb charger to the bikes electrics then I'm ready for action :D

http://i33.tinypic.com/2irn0w6.jpg
Yes as far as I can tell it does. By this I mean the battery charge level does indeed increase when running TomTom. However, I have not bothered to work out how long it takes to fully charge. Nor have I measured the output. Last week I used it as my only means of charging the phone for 5 days and I was using the GPS and TomTom whenever I had it in my rental car.
After several weeks of use I am still very satisfied with the Brando unit (http://shop.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=02698&dept_id=060&cat_id=0858).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=121869&d=1224075004
It works particularly well if you have FlipIt and Landscape Manila (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2778242&postcount=1797) installed.
With this you can readily rotate the cradle through 270degrees and TomTom automatically switches. Further you can close out of TomTom back to TF3D in landscape and you are returned to Landscape Manila.

Fits the original diamond perfectly and is also supplied with proper 2000 mA charger, the phone's battery is actually charging when you use gps-tomtom, wifi and bluetooth at the same time

Yes very satisfied, "plug-and-drive", I normally dislike suction holders, but this one holds very well and can be rotated to the required orientation and angle ..
DX are normally cheaper than anything else in most cases, they ship directly from hong kong, but for some reason several times cheaper than HK based eBay sellers, maybe because they sell in big quantities they can operate on a lower profit margin ...

is petrol cheaper in Bratislava region or in Austria ? are petrol stations open till late in Slovakia ?

I already had the Parrot CK3100 bluetooth carkit built into my car and was looking for a cradle/charger for my MDA Compact IV. I found this from CarComm (http://www.carcomm.nl/carcomm/webshop/index.cfm?page=productDetail&ModShopCatId=5806DF0D-5056-8659-086BFD5C9A86CC03&ModShopProductId=5806FA36-5056-8659-088D2FE472802842) and love it. It fits perfectly and built quality is of a very high standard. Bonus feature, the charging element is in the cradle not in the plug.

Edit: it's not the cheapest solution out there, but well worth it IMHO

I've been looking through this thread and it appears there are a few references to car mounts that aren't car kits (no mic, etc). Which car mount did you guys end up purchasing if you didn't need the full car kit?
I just want window mount, with charging capability if possible... so that I wouldnt have to plug phone in before i snap into mount.
edit:
Has anyone seen a Touch Diamond mount like the original Touch mount here (http://www.buygpsnow.com/HAiCOM-Custom-Car-Mount-for-HTC-Touch--HTC-P3450-(HTC-EIF)--XDA-Nova--T-Mobile-MDA-Touch--Dopod-S1__946.aspx)? That mount has worked great.

Hi All - I am kinda new to car mounts. So I just got my original htc cu-s170 delivered. Its pretty neat and does the job, except for one point I wanted to clarify - Can the neck be bent on this mount. My windscreen has a very small angle and even if I keep the holder at max tilt, the phone is still not facing me, but facing the car floor. Before I try to bend the long straight neck, wanted some clarification from others using the cu-s170, on whether I can bend it or will I break it if try to bend it. Seems pretty rigid and un-bendy !! :o

Bend all you want. It's rigid and will stay in that shape you give it. To avoid it from shaking whike driving you can bend it so it touches the dashboard firmly (or put a small pad in between to avoid wear on the dashboard). Good luck.

any tips as i am not sure how to map a key under the buttons settings on diamond :p

Hello everybody,
i had bought me a brodit 3 in 1 aktiv holder bevor 2 months...i charge my Diamond via USB-Charger and transfer the sound via a 3,5 Jack to Chinch on the AUX-In from my JVC Headunit. Music and Navigation are perfekt...BUT, when i had the phone in the holder, my phone recognizes the aktiv holder as a headset what is actually right...BUT the phone turn of the mic.
When im try the call, i understand everything perfekt...but my "call"- partner didn´t hear me =(
Now i had the question, it is possible, with a software solution, to turn the microphon on?
I have considered to buy me something like this
http://www.shope2.com/photo/phone_handsfree/o2/images/838pro_w_mic.jpg
(^^It´s a 3.5 Jack Adapter with integrated mic^^)
But there are so many cabels in my car (subwoofer, rearsystem, some lights etc...) and i didnt wont a new cable...;)
Can somebody help me?

ps.: sorry for my bad english, i hope you understand it =)

Hi guys,
I don't know if it's okay to post this, but I'll just try:
As I was very unhappy with my Diamond due to constant software problems (device always rebooting) I sent it back and got myself an HD.
Now I have no more use for the Brodit passive swivel mount I bought for the Diamond.
So, if anyone is interested in buying it, just PM me.
Regards

As long as the thickness of the phone is the same as for the Touch Diamond Diamond P 3700, it should work.
I have one and the quality is very good.
The HTC kit comes complete with a car charger.
