yes, there are all CDMA versions of these phones, there to be released near the end of the year, it says so in my last sentence in my first post.
And yes, the Touch (Diamond) and the Touch Pro (Raphael) have Stylus's.

It's a magnetic stylus that wakes the phone up removal as well:eek:

the battery life is something that is a bit interesting. I wonder though, why don't people test the battery limits when multi tasking (eg texting/iming or actively online) for a better portrayal of battery limitations? But so far this is a fantastic phone. unfortunately, I expect to get it next year when it is sold on ebay, heavens knows verizon won't release it till a year after sprint gets it (see htc touch for a good example of that)
Verizon, get your game up, or I will jump the shark
edit
on the negative side, no windows soft key, and the keyboard is missing some vital keys I use on my mogul. What gives?

I truly hope that Big RED won' wait as long as they did with the titan - This phone seems to solve both of the big negatives - screen resolution and RAM. Cannot wait until it comes out!!

would be nice, but I am not even going to get my hopes up thinking it will be with sprint... maybe if someone unlocks it we can use it on sprints cdma?

The phone posted is a GSM phone. It doesn't have a CDMA radio therefore all the hacks in the world will not make it operate on a CDMA network. The only way you will see this phone on Sprint or Verizon is if HTC manufactures CDMA models.

I thought there will be a CDMA version. It's already confirmed in Sprint's roadmap, I thought?

thought that too considering these phones are upgrades to the mogul and the touch...I'm pretty sure there is a sprint model for this because if there isn't...I will be very mad

The Sprint version should be out in October. The only change I'm aware of (other than ditching the GSM radio for CDMA) is losing the forward-facing camera.

Yeah I can't wait for the Sprint version...
However, I have some qualms about the claimed battery life... 8 hours seems ridiculous considering how WEAK the battery is... See reviews of the Touch Diamond for more info...
I get through the day on my Mogul and its got about 40-60% at the end of the day... doubt I could make it through the entire day with either the Diamond or the Touch Pro...

4gb internal memory

*Memory
- 512MB ROM, 228MB RAM
I was assuming it says that but it only has 512mb internal memory. So is the specs wrong or is this not a correct picture?
It could say 4gb internal Mirco SD or something like that meaning it's not SDHC capible but if our phones are SDHC capible then any newer models would be SDHC.
shield001
05-06-2008, 05:49 PM
Also it says aGPS so it doesn't have GPS only assisted GPS. It's definately much better than our phones 64mb ram vs 228/288MB. But removing GPS is just odd since even blackberrys have GPS now.

the touch Diamond has 4gb internal storage in addition to the rom (which is only 256 on the diamond) the Touch Pro (Raphael) does not

HTC's website says both phones are GPS + aGPS

Two hopes:
1) That the battery spec is the same as in the 6800. I use the mugen 1800mah standard size and am very pleased with it.
2) That verizon will implement their announced policy of accepting hardware from other providers, as they have said they are as of this summer, so when the CDMA Sprint version comes out, there we go.
HTC Victor looks pretty nice too....decisions decisions...;)

So the pic isn't of the touch Pro. got it.
USB with tv out sounds promising
I can imagine plugging my phone with a 32gb SDHC card into a friends tv and watching dvds

It has stand alone GPS. The AGPS lets the device also use the data network to get a fix faster.

Different model number too. The case is a LOT nicer looking too, makes the phone look so much better than the diamond.

umm probably because the chipset and chips require alot less power to operate? lol duh. Otherwise we'll seen when its actually out.

SLIDE TO THE LEFT !!!!!!!!! not the right
I seem to recall that the 6700 would slide to the right. When I got my 6800, I kept wanting to go right with it. I think a slide to the right makes more sense...it puts the top of the phone on your left (and the D-pad on your right).

I see what your saying and do agree with you except for one thing....most people drive with their left hand and hold the phone with the right and its easier to slide it to the left with your right hand thumb. now im not for texting wile driving, in fact i hardly text at all anyway. so maybe the sliding to the left may be better to have the d-pad on the right
any idea on what cost may be?

not even while driving, i just hold the phone in my right hand and it much easier to slide this way, i never owned a 6700 but i used one at the vzw store and the slider felt unnatural to me
I probably shouldn't hope that the cdma version will have wimax right? kinda sad though cause while the phone makes you want to upgrade....makes you think whats the point if wimax should already be running :/ (at least I think in new york it will by then)
I'll also probably miss the 2 buttons on top..Never really like the case..but I did like how mogul was designed that if you flip it sidewards, it looked like a game counsel that made it easier to play :/..while still retaining the phone look.

I thought we got past all that agps vs gps junk six months ago. Remember when someone would ask if they were ever going to activate gps on the mogul and someone else would come back and talk down to them like they were stupid. They would explain in their condescending tone that the mogul 'only' had agps and that it would never have full gps capability.
AGPS is actually BETTER than normal gps. It can use the tower for faster locks, but falls back to regular gps when your out of tower range.

yeah, after thinking it over I never really use the d-pad anyway and think using my left hand to slide it open would really be wierd and clumbsy. I was checkin out the at&t tilt....that phone is a pile.

AGPS is actually BETTER than normal gps. It can use the tower for faster locks, but falls back to regular gps when your out of tower range.Exactly! It can be frustrating when long and often repeated FUD keeps getting presented. The assisted mode (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assisted_GPS)is an addition to regular GPS functions and in no way negates location deriving from GPS satellites.
Yet, I remember in the leaked HTC internal Raphael/Diamond white papers that the new models are going to have eGPS (Enhanced GPS) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enhanced_GPS)which is to be superior to Assisted GPS......... I doubt that has changed and the press released specs or third party reporting may be in error.
