Well - it took me all of 2 minutes to search the forum and find out how to change the PP to 8MB before flashing my Uni, so I don't really see the difficulty myself ;)

Of course, if people asked *nicely*, I may be persuaded to upload my modded nk.nbf to Rapidshare ;)

WOW!!!! really fast rom!!! Never seen other rom like this.
with 8PP set on 64MB uni, 23 MB memory free but with nothing installed.
Not testing bluetooth + wifi yet....

P.S. 1: No andvanced wifi settings in rom - how can we boost signal? uni has already bad wifi b card.
Also poor Comm Manager.

P.S. 2: with a keyboard, and 2 small programs fall to 22,5MB -VERY GOOD.....
but while adding Touch Commander suite (without cube) memory fall to 13 MB!!!! and installed it in storage card (not in phone memory)

A screenshot wouldn't help - this is a pretty vanilla WM6.1 ROM, but it *is* fast, and it *does* have lots of free space on initial (cold) boot.

Sadly, I have already installed some stuff, so I can't remember exactly what was available 'cold', but it was over 30MB Storage, and around 28MB Program on my 64MB Uni.

Kudos for this - so far it's fast, light and stable!

I'd like to use this as a basis for cooking my own ROM with a few additions (like wktask, and maybe even Opera 9.5), but am getting a *lot* of "Missing RGU" errors from PKGTool. Is this a problem, or were those RGUs not used for a reason?

I looked in the 'dump' directory, and none of the RGUs exist anywhere...

Re: 1 - I found Advanced WiFi - it seems to be in programs rather than Settings (dunno why). Yup - I don't particularly like the Comm Manager either. Wonder if I can "borrow" the one from Ranju's 7.7 ROM.

I use SPB Backup and that works fine.

Typically if its is between the same major ROM version (ie WM6, WM5) and the same device it should work

I would recommend backing up to Outlook via Activesync - you can guarantee that it will work and restore

I installed the PP8 version and it's fast! Unlike any other ROM I've tried with. Thanks Mo3ulla for the ROM and pjc007 for modified PP8.

Since I just got the Jasjar and still playing around, don't know much about it and I have a question.

When the screen is shut, any way to make the external buttons around the Jasjar work? The reason I ask is that I want to be able to make phone calls without opening up the screen. I know when the calls come in, those external buttons are enabled. I got Voice Command just so I know who's calling and making calls without opening the screen. Had it announced incoming calls and that works out nicely. Just that I have mapped VC to one button but can't get it to work when the screen is shut. If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks.

Not the registry - just PIM (ie contacts, calendar, email, etc)

For programs, I recommend having an "Installers" directory on your SD Card and keeping all of the cabs you need in there.

You may need to do a DOC reformat using the MTTY tool (see the wiki for details). I have had that problem in the past when switching from one of Ranju's ROMs...

I'm having some strange problems with this rom.
Whenever I install my hebrew support pack it won't let me open the settings program from Settings -> System -> (program icon)

This is happening both on Eyron and Paragon LEng so it's not a specific software issue.

Anyone else experiencing this problem with other software?

I must say I'm impressed. This is the only wm6.1 rom that dont freeze my phone on incoming calls... <knock on wood>... But so far so good.

Ok, It leaks a little memory and maybe a little thirsty on the battery juices, but I dont care. This is by far the best rom released yet!

I just upgraded this rom, first impressions are good, but I just pay attention to some little problems: the display have some strange issues (glitches), I noticed this when I soft reboot and when I navigate through IE, the 2nd thing is some slow responding when I use opera 8.60.
So I don't know if it's just me or someone else had noticed this.

You need the flashing program.

The process for MTTY in the Wiki is here:

Make sure you're flashing with the RIGHT version of the ROM - particularly, make sure you're using the PP=8MB version that I uploaded if you've got a 64MB Uni.

If you still can't get this ROM to flash, follow the MTTY process again, and flash with a ROM you've used before. You may not get this ROM, but you'll at least get your Uni back!

Let me guess; It was RealVGA 1.1 ?
That doesnt work with the newer WM6.1 roms. only 6.0... Dont know why but RealVGA makes it impossible to recieve phonecalls and/or call out unless you make the call directly from "Contacts"

what type of backup you restore ? ..and what pograms you install ? ..

mostly reported bugs cased by users // becose users install tonns of programs // which sometimes UNCOMPATIBLE with ech other .. but mostly users dont even try to turn on brain ... users in most cases run on xda and cry about bad rom and something like


if you want to report bug
1/ DO HARDRESET
2/ use CLEAN ROM WO installed software
3/ USE 2-3 DAYS

if problem persist report .. after that OTHERS USERS NEED TO TEST REPORTED PROBLEM ,,, if problem confirmed by 3-5 users this will be flagged as bug.. owerwise will be flagged as single user problem

You can't judge if a rom is working properly with nothing installed. Part of having an operating system is having programs run on it.

Never had problems with these applications. But I will try as you suggested. There is seriously no need to "shout".

But,I found the WPA-PSK doesn't work well in this ROM version,and the GPRS doesn't work in this ROM at all, this is strange!

I didn't get the chance to test this without the programs installed, but I was having "no network" problems today. Could it be my radio rom? I have 1.15 installed. It wasn't causing problems before.

By the way, I am obviously not blaming Mo3ulla for any of these problems, it could be a problem with Microsoft's build after all. I am just wondering if anybody else is getting this.

I'm gonna try Tomal's rom and see if I'm getting the same problems. It's really a shame I LOVED this rom. It's fast as a devil. But unusable for me.

I can confirm that the phone application does not cause the problems on Tomal's rom. The same applies to the problem I was having with clicking some programs that were being installed to the settings menu. It's a newer build so I'm assuming they simply fixed whatever was the problem.

I have to say that this WWE is the best I have tested so far. My aged G4 is not responding well to Ranju's 7.7 and the Thing WWE - getting erratic reboots on both and some odd behavior using Thing WWE (reflashed a few time). But with this rom, one flash is all I need and so far, it has been superb.

And it's almost a Vanilla too which is perfect for those looking for simplicity.

And yes did I mention that this rom is SUPER fast:D

:confused: Ahhh...but the WPA-PSK donesn't work in uni under ur ROM condition....Like I said,the GPRS also doesn't work in mine,check this out in the attached pic. Just confusing that all the GPRS settings are same as the flashed previous ROM in my device & definitely it worked well.

I love this new rom and it is without question the fasts and I think the most stable rom available now. However, WIFI is too important for me to not have...I will have to revert to master Tomal's 7.7 if no proper fix is available.

Tried M and, indeed, I do have some more memory free.
However, the tray is not visible initially. When a program sets an icon in the tray (eg. Franson GPS) the tray is visible, as a large, 3 lines occupying bar. Also the top of the today drops 2 lines, so both onop and at the bottom there are 2 lines unused.
This renders the today to only half of its original size.

Machine: Qtek 9000, software: Wisbar advance, SPB Shell, iLauncher, SPB Diary.

Please help, because I cannot use this ROM at the moment.

ps: 'more memory' is only 5mb more, so still not enough to use iGO8...

pps: any idea on how to NOT start activesync automatically? It uses about 800KB of memory constantly.

ppps: any idea on how to make cprog.exe use less memory?

this might have no relations with the thread, but as The Boss Mo3ulla mention about SPB writes to analog...pls explain what does it means...:confused::confused:I've been using SPB Shell at this moment...if it's not good, I might just remove it..:eek:

btw: they always tell that the qtek must have a rom that supports 128mb before they change the RAM to 128mb. This can be flashed afterwards too, right?

Extended_ROM is not similar to Flash Disk. :D

Well - it took me all of 2 minutes to search the forum and find out how to change the PP to 8MB before flashing my Uni, so I don't really see the difficulty myself ;)

Of course, if people asked *nicely*, I may be persuaded to upload my modded nk.nbf to Rapidshare ;)

And if you are with 64mb of ram Uni, you need to use that edited rom with pagepool set to 8 :)

I only know about a place in Hungary.
Yes, 128 compatible ROM can be flashed afterward, but if you can find a service point to upgrade your Qtek, they must try out if the memory is OK, so I think they must put a 128comp ROM on the device that time.
There are so many ROMs now supporting both 64 and 128 era, so why not upgrading before do the soldering stuff?

incoming phone calls with vibration on might cause the phone not to respond (hang).

SD card contents cannot be read after some time, need to reboot the device.

I have no hang problems, no sd problem, for the camera I don't use it :)

You can change the camera changing the .exe at \Windows to a newer built and it will work fine.

Thanks a lot Mo3ulla for the Upgrade, I didn't think that my Universal would be that fast.

I had some problems SPB Pocket Plus though, a lot of them actually, The Device won't start and all, so a word to all new comers, Don't use SPB Pocket plus Today Plugin.

A question, Will SDHC cards work, and what is the recommended size speed wise?, Should I get a 16GB or a 8GB?

I love your ROM as usual, this is the fastest and the most stable ROM anybody can find for HTC Universal,

However, whenever Universal wakes from the sleep mode, WLAN doesn't reconnect to the AP, and you need to shut down and restart your WIFI...

Anybody with same symptom? :rolleyes::confused:

I'm pretty new at this but I have installed the ROM successfully and very grateful for it!

I have read all the posts in this thread, and cannot see that anyone has posted this before, so here are my questions:


It's VOIP supported, but I can't get it to work at all. In standby it says "Internet calling not available" even when I am on Wi-Fi. I cannot find anywhere to set proper settings. I have a SIP account and would like to set it up for use before I go on holiday so that I can call home for free. Help? :confused:

I downloaded the Windows Live Messenger program that someone posted earlier in this thread, but it is unsuccessful when I try to install it. I would really like MSN on my mobile and only find programs where you have to register in their own network and such to sign in on MSN.. help? I used ebuddy for my nokia before, but can't find it for WM. Would prefer the proper windows live messenger.


Also, just by chance, if anyone knows if it's possible to use Google's My Location on universal.. google maps tells me i can't. Oh and I have to run v 2.1 of google maps in order to get it to work on wi-fi. The 2.2 version doesn't work!

Well, my test of this room gone like following:

In the first place, it is stable and fast as everybody said, and I assure, and add that it is the fastest ROM I've ever installed on my dopod 900!
the only problem i faced was in bluetooth not working properly: sending/receiving files doesn't work!

I installed some programs on device memory, and nothing did change (ROM still fast and working good).

these programs are:

Nika Gerson Lohman Schap's Advanced Config 2.x - Nika's XM
Resco Explorer
Resco Today Plugin
Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool 2.1
Spb Pocket Plus (in spite of what Mo3ulla said that to stay away from Spb shit, i only installed "close buttons" feature, and device is still working fine!!)


Problems started when installing programs on my 4GB SD card:

Programs icons turned to white blank (like a dead shortcut).
Programs do not start.
Device hanging!!


These programs are:

Hmarik PocketAlarm
Mobile Systems MSDict Viewer
DrYAR-BlueTooth
Dr.YAR Bluetooth v1.6 update
PocketMind PocketMusic
RCX Lexipedia
Resco Photo Viewer Pro
SHAPE Services IM+
VITO Audio Notes
Windows Live 10.6.33.0600


No problem were found in memory card, it is working decently!! Only these programs cannot run, beside that weird shape the icons turned to!!

this rom seem have the same problem of minhanhtran rom: random reset :(

I have Universal Qtek 9000 from two years. Before I have a Qtek 9100 and Qtek 9090. But I never seen one, only one windows mobile rom stable, "original" or not, never! :( The same is on X86 X86_64 arch.
I really not know why a lot of people use these operating systems!

I hope which one day one rom, only one, result really usable.

Have you unchecked "use watchdog (autoreboot on OS hang)" item in settings->performance tab? If yes, probably for this your uni not reboot itself, but if it hang it remanin freezed and a soft reset manually, however, is needed.

However, you are lucky!

Is anyone else having problems with this ROM and windows live?
I've installed it, run it, tried to sign in but every time I fill in my email address and password it tried for a couple of seconds then returns me to the "sign in to Windows Live" screen.

On the plus side though, I never knew my uni could start up so quick! my old WM5 took a few minutes to turn on!!! SO thankyou very much for a fantastically quick ROM.
