I like it WITHOUT the file manager. Good call. The standard file manager is a junk that never get used anyway. I use Resco File Explorere 2008, which allows you to scroll with fingers (like HTC TouchFlo with sound)..
I'm going to try this out for sure, and I think this could be IT.:)

Personally I don't like Touchflo 3D. I only want the touchflo. Is that working?

Thanks Irus, is nice to see we are progressing, with your support of course. Just a question, I suppose is Ozvga included? Should be possible to have RealVga?
My question is because I think most of us use on 128 dpi.

RealVga is installed, not OzVga.....128 is included and works fine

I use Pocket informant and the Blank Contact Issue is not in this rom using Pocket Informant in any dpi...But I did not try it with the Native Contact App.

I believe Irus's plan is to replace the Splash Screens. He created a thread asking for someone or many people to create splash screens for the Rom. So since no one has provided any yet and this is a beta rom, the splash's will be added later. You can also create and put in your own splash screens too. Below is his thread asking for Splash Screens.

This is Lite or Vanilla Rom, therefore no voice command application is included in the Rom. Which is good, since you can install the one you prefer. There are several cabs available for either Cyberon or Microsoft Voice Command available. Choose your preference, search and install the one you want.
This rom is fast. GPS lock real quick

Already this that you explain to me.
I have installed the Cyberon and works all good… but when pressing the button of my Jabra 8010 does not take the program, I have tried with the Vito Dialer and either… there is no something in the registry that does not take the button from my bluetooth.

Irus,
Thank you once again for this great ROM. I feel very positive towards this ROM. The first thing that I noticed was the fantastic speed.
I've used it for a couple of hours by now, and so far these are my observations:
1) GPS signal is weak, and sprite terminator is unable to see any GPS signal at all, although I have already got a 3D fix with another GPS software. Looks like this problem is similar to the one we had been talking about before. Camera is also unable to initialise GPS.
2) When I first switched over to 192dpi, there was an error message saying that some 192dpi resources are missing, and that some program might not work. I ignored the message. In general everything is displayed correctly. Have not detected anything wrong yet.
3) I noticed that the second phone skin (the one with Video call button) is not in the ROM, although I have blanked out the "disable phone skin" option in realVGA. Would be good to be able to make video call for those 192dpi users (which includes me now)
4) When using Camera, if I click on the picture button (second left icon), the camera seems to just freeze.
5) Strangely, when using VisualGPSce, Com 0, Com1, Com 2 and Com 3 are missing! In other ROM they are there I think.
6) As some have pointed out, the call/SMS/TEXT functions in the summary screen associated with clicking on a contact are blanked out. This problem is not there in 192dpi. It appears that some 128dpi and 96dpi resources are missing for this application?
7) I noticed that when using SipChange program, the standard keyboard is not listed. Is this intentional? For me this may be a good thing. Often when I switch among software keyboard, under some occasions when memory is tight, the standard keyboard gets chosen rather than the inteded ones. If this ROM is able to "disable the choice of standard keyboard" without causing the system problem it would be great.
I noticed the HTC TouchFlo is not in the ROM (yet?). Any plan to have that in?

Irus,
I have not used this rom much yet so I will be back with reactions soon.
One thing I did try right away was resco explorer 2008 and once again I find I cannot connect to my home server. I get the same message I got with the previous rom "Cannot connect shared path. The network request is not supported".
As connection to my main computer through the wifi network is critical for me I would appreciate help on this.
Thanks,

irus i fixed this by dumping the new kaiser 6.1 official rom and using the outres.96.dll in SYS/Redist_DPI_96 now i just need to find A 128DPI that works. the issue is they changed the contacts app a bit in the newer 6.1 builds so thats why we have the contact info not showing in realvga. solution is to use newer resources from the new roms.

Great Rom,but have a few issues. Really only one I need to find a fix.
I can not get HTC Audio Manager to Run. Installs ok, just get error about unsigned or missing files. Install the Cab irus provided in addon of his other roms.
Also, when i installed Marware Weather Panel the device hangs on the Wm6.1 splah screen. Restarted in safe mode and uninstalled weather panel and it isnow fine. I had noticed in Kaiser forum other had same issues with new wm6.1 romss and weather panel.
But Ireally wish i could find a HTC audio manager cab that works with this rom.

It is okay for Tom Tom, but not okay for many others. 20 seconds is not the best Tom Tom could do if it is working right. I had it in 2 seconds if it already had a fix recently. I suspect that if it is off a little longer, if you try to get a fix in a moving car, it would take even much longer than this.
I set mine to com 4 38400 today on my iGO, and took about 15 minutes to get a weak fix. That means even after I got a fix, I kept getting "GPS signal lost" message. Normally, in a moving car, I was able to get it in less than a minute at the worst, and the signal would not be interrupted.
There is definitely something missing in the GPS not related to settings.

What Radio you've got?
I am on Irus 6.1 full SPA1.2 and radio 1.50 and I also have no problems with GPS except with Sprite Terminator. All other soft locks to GPS position starting for 20 sec up to 1 min in moving car (also from cold).

I wonder why com 0 to 3 don't show up in visualgpsce.

I am finding the opposite with this rom. It is finding the GPX fix much faster than other roms. Fastest I have had. Less than a minute on cold, and much faster on warm. Strong signals, etc
I am using 1.57 radio. Quick fix on VIsualGPS, GpsTool, GpsTest and TomTom 6. I do not use IGo, so don't know about that one.

When I was using AP4, my GPS connection time was okay, but nothing startling. I installed Irus 6.1 Vanilla and it is now very noticeably quicker. It is as if it had not been using QuickGPS before or something. It acquire satellites in a few seconds immediately after a reboot (which I have to do every morning because iGO8 seems to crash the machine if it restarts for some reason) I am using Radio 1.57.
I am holding off moving to this new ROM until the GPS situation is clear. it really is so much faster I don't want to lose it now.

gtm55, thanks for this. I'd try it out later. Did you also have a chance to see if the signal strong enough for sprite terminator?
Edit: gtm55, I tried your setting, which is to set the hardware port to 4, software to , no auto, and iGO8 uses 5.
I had the last GPS fix about 20 hours ago. There was no hard reset since, but there were soft resets. I tested outdoor, completely not moving, and used a stop watch. I did not use quickGPS before the test. These are my findings:
Time taken for iG08 to "see" the satellite, i.e., to have the red and yellow dots appearing on the GPS setting screen: 1 mnutes and 50 seconds.
Time taken to have 3D fix : 9 minutes and 20 seconds.
I immediately fired up the Sprite Terminator and tested the GPS reception. It says: No gps signal found. (May be Sprite Terminator is the one having problem??? But it was able to report the location using the Stock Rom and PK 3 ROM, without any issue)
I then fired up Tom Tom, it has the fix immediately, like in 2 seconds. (expected as GPS signal is already acquired)
As you can see, it is no good. If I am on a moving car like I did yesterday, I think it would be at least 15 minutes before I could get a GPS fix in iGO8.
To have reliable test, I think it is necessary to leave the GPS unused for a day, otherwise, the test will be inconclusive. If we want to test it without the GPS data in the memory, we could also do a hard reset first, but do not use a Restore Program before starting the test. This is what I'm going to do next, which is to do all test after a hard reset with no restore. I would try to give a comparision between different ROM, in different GPS settings, and see how it goes.
BTW, irus, do you have a name for this ROM? In your fantastic efficiency, you've flooded us with more than 10 ROMs in a very short time (This is a very high form of compliment, not at all a complaint ;)), so I think it'll help to give this ROM a name it deserves, although it is still a beta. Makes it easy to know which ROM we're testing on.

gtm55, thanks for this.
I like it WITHOUT the file manager. Good call. The standard file manager is a junk that never get used anyway. I use Resco File Explorere 2008, which allows you to scroll with fingers (like HTC TouchFlo with sound)..
I'm going to try this out for sure, and I think this could be IT.:)
without the built in file manager? can i have this rom too? i've been trying to remove the file manager and wmplayer since ages (or since i started cooking ;)) but couldnt do it.. if anyone has an idea if this rom will work without the file manager or any idea of removing it fom the rom please do let me know.. thnx much in advance :D

Hi,
Please try the GPS app, I have from old days, named GPSInfo. It has nice ability to reset GPS device in hard, soft, warm or hot mode. Strange but it works. In this way you probably could omit hard resetting Athena.
You have to put it in your Athena and create a link somewhere. I have it on my SD card.
Edit:
In Irus WWE6.1 Full, and radio 1.50, I need to set it for com4 and 38400 or 4800 baud. In 38400 it starts little bit faster.
Edit2:
Yesterday I have came across very amazing GPS app, named T-GPS or TGPS. Options which it gives are amazing. You can count the square meters of you garden using it or count how much water can be put in a big container. It was strange, but it could lock to several satellites within about 20 seconds inside my house (on a top floor) not standing by a window. It was in the morning and last night I was playing with GPS so it was not hard reseted thou.

...or use PC installer supplied by Resco. You need to connect the device to your PC with ActiveSync or with other app in Vista (what is the name of it?). Just connect with USB and it should be recognized by the system.

Thanks for this handy application. I started doing it the hardway and was taking up way way too much of my time. Hopefully this application would help me.
Thanks again.

May be just "Irus Vanilla V2 for spl1.2" and "Irus Vanilla V2 for spl3.5".
Version 2 because you already had a version 1 before.
Or may be this is really "lite" instead of Vanilla?
Irus, how feasible it is to bring in HTC touchflo in your final release? I just love being able to use finger to scroll through any list, with sound.

That's real kind of you to be doing this. I'm sure not just me but everyone wants this feature built into their ROM too.
BTW is there any functional differences between the spl1.2 and spl3.5 version other than the platform that they run on?

Hi Irus,
Due to the number of requests, we are adding a utility to Terminator that will automatically setup your GPS, and show you it connecting, satellite status, etc
This should be available the end of this week,
Many thanks for your patience

Sounds good, Irus. Thanks for the update.
Today I used my IGO again. With the default GPS setting (software 4, hardware 0, auto, and igo auto detect to com 4). On my moving car, I travelledmore than 10km, close to about 15 minutes before getting a fix. The device GPS was last used more than 24 hours ago. There were no tall building and trees along the way.
Normally, I should have got a fix within the first 1km, and in less than a minutes.
Sorry to post this again. I just like to point out that we do have a GPS problem. It will work, but not satisfactorily.

Months ago, I used to use pie and TCPMP to view youtube videos. Now there are better methods available. If all that you want is to search and play them without saving, then I recommend coreplayer which gives superb picture quality and speed. If you like to save it, use youtubeplayer on this site. These are the best methods in my opinion. Pie and tcpmp is too painfully slow in comparison.

Has anyone else noticed that on some applications the screen is taller than could be accommodated, hence partially hidden below the menu bar? Examples of applications work such a problem is visualGPSce. This happens in 192dpi, and I haven't tested on the other two dpi.
Edit: found the problem. I think the system font was set to 1000 in this ROM. This causes problems to quite a few places when device is in 192dpi, as part of the screen hides under the menu bar. The problem can be resolved by changing the system font size to 900, which I think is the default setting.

Hi Irus
I tried your rom briefly when you released it
I have SPL 3.5
Things I liked:
1.the TCPMP player with You tube functionality without tweaking
2.Very low memory usage
Things I didnt like:
1.Messaging doesn't include the same folder layout(SMS/MMS folder) as WM6.1 so I cant restore my old messages
2.No MMS S/W
3. A bit too light
4. missed touchflo
5. the documented GPS issues
since I changed over to try your other ROM , I know you have found a solution to the blank contacts.
Are you considering doing a few versions of this like you did with your other roms?
If so perhaps you could post a poll of favorite apps to include prior to finalising the release

Ftouchflo & config are working well.
I miss the subdisplay.
GPS (with optimum setting from other posts H/W COM4, S/W COM8 & auto) fixes in about 35s cold in the house with TTN6 (5-6 satellites).
The only conflict I seem to have is my PocketBible from Laridian refuses to start. Installs Ok but refuses to open. I installed to internal memory, tried older versions but so far, no success. Everything else (ILauncher, Textmaker, PlanMaker, PBreeze, PWeather, AEBplus) works very well. This is a very stable ROM and fast.
Thanks again Irus and Taxist. You guys ARE DELIVERING AND FAST.

i have tested a new version of mms and it working well. i will be releasing another beta by friday and then the final about a week or so after that depending how many bugs are in the rom. right now im trying to figure out why htc audio manager does not work and htc album does not recognize video :(
my guess is that it is lack of dll files but not sure if any reg enteries need to go with those dll files.

Hi,
First, Thanks Irus for your great work.
I use your 6.1 Full SPL1.2 version and Resco explorer works fine with accessing shared resources on my WinVista computers at home/office over WiFi. I usualy download some cabs to computer and then install it over WiFi staring it from Resco Explorer and accesing the catalog on the computer.
Both in Resco 2007 version as well as the new 2008 version, no problems.

irus, I have spl 3.5 on X7501 and htc audio manager is not working. Installed audio mgr from your "Add-ons.zip" for the 6.1 ROM. I get the error message that it's either not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components can't be found.
This ROM still my favorite so far. Great job.

This is a great ROM- very fast, and very basic which suits me.
However, I have encountered a couiple of problems
1) Installing new programs does not always create a 'Programs' entry. This happened with Pocket Tunes and Tomeraider. Netfront and iGO8 both created entries correctly.
2) The 'Remove Programs' cpl doesn't always remove. I get errors say the program cannot be removed- do I want to remove the entry from the list? Selecting Yes, still leaves the entry, though the program's folder structure has been removed.
3) The default landscape 96dpi font is too small with a lot of text overlap in the initial config screens
4) Changing to 192 dpi gives a resource error, though it appears to switch OK. Once on 192, some of the Settings screens have text which is a little too big, leading to cut-offs at the bottom of a page in landscape.
5) No G, 3G or H indicator in taskbar, even when connected.
On a more positive note, the GPS is the fastest I've yet seen- from the initial installation, and not using QGPS, iGO8 acheived a full 3D fix in 50 seconds.
Gone back to AP5 for the time being, but look forward to this one developing!

1) DId you check to see if the icon has been created in as a menu start item instead of menu start/program item?
2) that error happens only to some applications, and happens in all ROMs I believe.
4) That is because the system font of this ROM is set to 1000. Change that to 900 and everything will be right.
5) Put in this entry in the registry.
It's working, just not showing it, I think.
Create this entry to bring it back:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\RIL and set EnableHSDPAIcon to 1 (dWord)
Irus, may be you can cook this into the next version?
I think the GPS is probably not as good as you think. You probably did a sprite restore after the installation, alternatively, you did a restore in iGO? That brings in the GPS data which is already there. I often take 10 to 15 mintues to get a fix in iGO8 in a moving car, if the GPS has been left unused for say a day. Even after getting the fix, I kept having "GPS signal lost" message in iGO8, indicating that the signal is quite weak.

Hi, did you unlock your phone too? I have the same problem, no camera working, but this happened to the previous owner of the device. He said he upgraded to another ROM and since then no camera. Only black screen, like somebody is holding the finger in front of the lens. Tried to down and upgrade many ROMs (AP3 too) but still no camera working. Maybe something with IPL? On german forum other people posted it's after unlocking, but this was one year ago.

Excellent stuff Steve :) I now need to flash back and try the fixes!
Regarding the GPS- no, this has been with genuine cold starts. I very rarely use any sort of backup/restore after a ROM update, and haven't restored the iGO data, though my current data is on the SD card anyway.
However, between last using iGO with AP4 and yesterday with this ROM, I've changed location by 1000 miles, so effectively a cold start. I don't use QuickGPS- I've seen far too many errors with it in my work on 4WM. Also, I don't use the GPSID - I always connect any SatNav software direct to the physical COM port.
Your symptoms are exactly as I was experiencing with the T-Mobile WM6 ROM and Radio 1.50 (which I think we had a discussion about); in the end the only fix for me at that time was a downgrade to radio 1.47, which restored the GPS to a quick fix.
It does seem that there is some sort of interplay between specific devices, the GPS radio and the OS, but I'm damned if I can work it out!

So which radio version do you use again? Are you using the SPL3.5 or SPL 1.2 version?

First- many thanks for the tips- I'd seen the System Font comment before, but couldn't find it!
Now reflashed, and yes, some new Program Icons get placed in the top level Programs menu :)
System Font now reduced to 900, and looking better
Signal type Icon now working.
Regarding the GPS- it's been baffling me for months :)
When using Radio 1.47, all was fine- some lag in TTFF but not much more than 10 minutes at worst.
I then upgraded to the T-Mo WM6 ROM and Radio 1.50. GPS took upwards of 20-25 monutes TTFF, especially if mobile. Tried upgrading/downgrading OS ROM with no effect, then downgraded to Radio 1.47, and GPS came back to what it was. Went back to Radio 1.50 (different download) in case it was a bad flash, but same thing happened.
Stuck with Radio 1.47 till AP4 came out, then had to upgrade, so went straight to Radio 1.57, and GPS continued fine. Has continued OK through AP5, and 4.AO.TX; currently working absolutely fine with less than 1 minute TTFF from genuine cold start.
Using SPL 3.5

Even after getting the fix, I kept having "GPS signal lost" message in iGO8, indicating that the signal is quite weak.
i already did the hsdpa icon ;)
as far as the rest goes i have decided to take a different route. i am going to release the latest version of this build that i worked on. but i have started with a different build. The reason i am doing this is there are some small problems like the htc audiomanager not working i have tried everything but no go. So im working on a new BT stack for this build and im trying to make it as lite as i can but still be able to work the way it should. Right now the nbh file is 57,835KB. but i have not added anything i have just taken things away.

i already did the hsdpa icon ;)
Seems to be a bit hit & miss though :)
If the reg entry is correct (HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\RIL and set EnableHSDPAIcon to 1 (dWord) ) then this wasn't set in the ROM when I installed it today.
Adding it seemed to bring the Icon back, but it has since disappeared again, despite the reg entry still being present.
Not a big deal in the great scheme of things!

Hi Irus,
I see that ppl have problems with this megaupl and so on. I can give you some space on my server to put files for upload. If you like, I can PM you login to the space. You could upload the files with ftp.
Or better I PM you my email address and then you could mail me. In return I will send you all the loggin info.
The name of the server would be www.eurotelefon.eu. It is pretty fast and no restrictions for downloads (for now).

I must say. This ROM is as light as a feather and I love it. I think this is the way forward. Have a base rom and the rest should be in addons. A quick look revealed that all the basic functionality is there except for 192 dpi operation. Am waiting patiently for the release two weeks later.

There is some small issue in add ons. Instead of Voice Speed Dial cab , there is a link to it. We can not get it from your disk. I think you could check it and upload it once more.
Some questions. There are some cabs for apps in two builds or versions, like Cyberon VC, CallFirewall, ScreenToggle (whats this?). Which of them to use, your suggestion.
Also there is a bit newer Opera, 1126. I am using it on your Full version. Works well.
And RealVGA: Instead of RealVGA_11.cab I am using first version of RealVGA named RealVGA.cab. It contains all files, not only dpi changer. After installing it I install ResPack128dpi.ARM.cab and/or ResPack96dpi.ARM.cab. After this I never have problem with WMP, so do not need to use the fix for it.

I have done so many reflashes, forwards and backwards, even tried down and upgrading the radio- just incase it helped. tried swearing too- didn't work and resulted in odd looks from other people.
surely i must have unlocked to super cid to run olipro 3.5??? I had thought that i had followed the instructions to the letter. The only time i had an issue was when upgrading to radio 1.57- on entering the update process i got an error message about the file being bad- stuck with only the boot loader screen I reloaded the t-mob rom. i didn't check the camera until i had spl 3.5 and ap4. since then i have gone ap5- ap5lite- ap3- radio 1.5- radio 1.57 and finally ap5(full fat)
Have also tried to re-assign buttons. nothing loads from the camera button and the camera will not load from any of the buttons. the camera button is obviously functional given that i can still enter the boot loader. In all of the different ap.s hitting the icon leads to an error message about failing to initialise- me thinks I need a sfc!!!
How can one tell retrospectively if they are super cid???
Current boot loader says
ATHE100
IPL-v1.00
ATHE 100 MFG
SPL-v3.50.OliNex
device information
rom version ap4.0 platinum
rom datedate 11/09/07

Irus,
Thanks for version 2 of the irus-taxist ultra lite WM6.1 ROM.
My initial observations are as follows:
1) The date on the taskbar is too long and hence partially truncated. I suggest that you use "." instead of "/" as separator to shorten it, with the following change in the registry.
HKLM\nls\overrides\SSDte = "dd.MM.yy" (REG_SZ string, no quotes).
I know the normal format in each country is different, but the main point is to use a "." instead of "/" in order to avoid the ugly truncation.
2) Window Media Player's default skin is now missing from the skin selection screen. As a result, the player covers only 1/4 of the screen. This was also the problem in version 1.
3) When I select 192dpi in realVGA for the first time, I still get a "some 192dpi resources are missing" message. This problem also exist in version 1.
4) Although I have unchecked the "Disable Phone skin" option in realVGA, the phone skin with video call button does not come back. This problem also exist in version 1. Therefore, even in 192dpi, you can't make video call with the phone skin available.
5) I noticed that the system font has not been corrected from 1000 to 900. As a result, many screens are "cut off" at the bottom in 192dpi at least, making some applications non-operable, as the selection buttons are hidden and unselectable.
6) I don't use HTC audio manager, but I noticed that it has an error message saying it is unsigned or has missing component, and require reinstallation, etc.
7) Noticed that the font at set up/screen adjustment screens are still messed up.
8) Overall, I get the feeling that this version hangs more frequently, and is slower than the first version. Although I must say that it is still faster than the other ROMs that I've tried.
9) Did'nt have the time to stress test GPS yet. The GPSinfo program that was posted does not seem to work correctly, and always returns an incorrect coordinates after it has attained 3D fix. Hope to find a bug free version of GPSinfo and get the testing going.
10) I notice that you have removed the task manager in version 1. Do you have the cab of that task manager? I like that application.
Thank you and taxist once again for both of your great works.

ok i am pretty much done with new rom. The only thing i have let to do is try out new BT stacks to make sure that it works when connecting between phone and phone and laptop and phone. below is the list of things i did. is there anything anyone thinks i forgot, whether its taking something out or adding something in. i am going to shoot for a monday release but that will depend on how the BT stack thing is going and if the splash screens are ready, no rush on those ;).
List of changes:
added total commander
removed stuff from cpl reg
added custsk to config.txt
fixed welcomehead startup
switched band to auto
changed quickgps reg settings to 7days
changed reg for default phone skin
added new skin for 3g video dialer and fixed corners
enabled autotimezone
disabled bitmapcache for rdp
added tcpmp and all plugins
Removed 18.5mb of junk from the rom including fexplorer, wmp
nbh size is at 61,249kb

try this one. also when you do a hard reset and its going through the autoconfig part do you see it trying to read the sdconfig.txt file
on a side note: i am mad at ebay so i refuse to sell anything on there at the moment... so if some one wants a 4 port dvi usb kvm switch comes with 4 dvi and 4 usb cables. $175 OBO through paypal. this is the link to the kvm switch http://www.avocent.com/SwitchView_DVI_4-port.aspx
I know that this is bad form but i need a dual dvi kvm switch and i don't have all the money yet :(

Hi Irus,
I belong to those feew, who needs WMP. So if it is removed from the ROM, will I find it in add-ons?
By the way, what about vueFlo. Will it work with some browsers?
In your FULL version it works only with PIE. I could not find a way to set it for any Opera.
Edit:
I also have returned to 192 dpi. My eyes are most happy with it and actualy most of apps ither do not use this extra space or have own possibilities to work in VGA, like browsers.

Montecristo,
Let me clarify how SDconfig.txt is used.
SDconfig.txt is used to automatically install applications (i.e. cab-files) which are mentioned in the SDconfig.txt file AFTER Hard reset.
It is not intended to put this file into ROM. SDConfig.txt file is used by so called UC complient roms. "UC" means "user customization".
This mechanism works as following:
AFTER HARD RESET of you Athena "special program" (which already in the ROM) trying to find SDConfig.txt file. The file MUST be located on the root of the SD card. In case of the file is found "special program" starts execute "commands" from this file. For instance "CAB: \Storage Card\apps\ftouch.cab" from you file means: "please install ftouch.cab which is located on \Storage Card\apps\". And so on for other strings in your SDConfig.txt file.
So this mechanism was developed to help users automatically install their favorite applications after hard reset (i.e. after putting new rom in the PPC) and not to include their favorite applications into ROM.
Hope it helps

ok so i was testing something to day and i went to flash and i realized that the cable was plugged in but it still said serial not usb. So i pulled it out and put it back in and nothing, no usb then i started jiggling it and come to find out the little power connector in the phone is loose :( and the only way to get it to say usb is to hold the cable down with my hand. now normally i would just put like a book or something down to try and hold it in place but if im in the middle of flashing and it disconnects then i would start crying like a little baby and cmonex when be trying to pull the gun out of my mouth, and telling me she thinks she can fix it... My point to all of this is no more flashes until i get it fixed :( on the up side i am done with my new rom except the BT stack which works for BT headset but not for transferring files from phone or laptop. So if someone thinks they can do it, as i was having trouble with it anyways, i will send them the rom. just send me a pm. In the mean time the rom is at 60,800K which includes two splash screens and i am going to start look for a used athena but it might take me a couple of weeks to scrape the money together as i just bought a 2nd 24" monitor :D, good things come in pairs.... monitors, boobs, shoes, etc. if no one is willing to do the BT stack i will release on monday as promised ;)

I have very reluctantly had to remove this ROM, and go back to AP5 (good though that is, it seems so slow afetr this one :( )
I have been having problems with 3 programs using this ROM- SpB Backup 2, Pocket Tunes and SBSH Phoneweaver.
-Backup 2 was unable to access the cemail.vol, default.vol and mxip/notify files meaning the email system woudn't back up
-Pocket Tunes froze while selecting skins. Probably as it uses a call to File Explorer, and can't find it
-Phoneweaver froze the device on soft reset, needing Safe Mode to recover. Also lost all settings if an alarm sound was tested (probably due to mssing WMP)
All 3 applications are running fine under AP5 Beta, so I'll have to put up with the slow speed for the moment.

I'm using Sprite Backup and SPB phone plus, and they work perfectly with this ROM. Unfortunately AP5 does not work in spl1.2 so I got to let that go. Currently trying out the mutou chinese ROM. I think everyone is able to use it although you do not understand the language (If you know window mobile, you will be able to intantly recognise and make up what those foreign characters are for). That's fast too. It's probably a lite, pretty close to ultra light.

I'm glad you have that sound. It seems to happen quite often that after I thought the phone was terminated, the connection was still on for a good two to three minutes, incurring hefty mobile phone charges. With this, if I don't hear it, I know I have to take a closer look and make sure the call is really ended.

Well, hopefully we may see a Light as opposed to Ultra Light ROM which retains the base WM stuff like FE and WMP (poor though they are) but leaves out stuff like Touchflo, Opera, TCPMP, HTC Home etc!
Happily iGO8 and the Satellite TTFF are just as good with AP5; less than 2 minutes from ROM flash to average fix (3 satellites locked) and another 2 minutes to fix with 8 satellites), without QGPS :)

Are you using RealVGA and are not in 192 dpi? If so, it has a tendency to occasionally write a pair of bogus registry entries for WMP's skins. Take a look at these registry entries here:
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Skins]
DefaultLandscapeSkin
DefaultLandscapeSkinOriginal
DefaultPortraitSkin
DefaultPortraitSkinOriginal
The resolution listed for DefaultLandscapeSkin and DefaultLandscapeSkinOriginal should be the same (i.e. they should both be 640x480). If they aren't, just make it so that the two Landscape entries have the same resolution. The same goes for the two Portrait entries (i.e. 480x640).

Hi,
Firstly: thanks for all your efforts - this ROM is working really well for me. I changed to this one in the hunt for a rom that worked well with my MBW-150 watch and this one does.
I do, however, have a small problem. The key mapping on the UK setting seems to be wrong.
When I type "blue dot" -> "z" I should get a ' but instead I get a ,
How can I change this? My search for keymap etc has proved fruitless so far.
I'm sure this has been answered but could someone point me towards the network wizard cab so I can get the correct settings for voda uk and mms and all that garbage ;-)
Just to add: has anyone got the mms stuff working (send and receive) I don't seem to be able to receive and I can't find a post with people in a similar position!
Kind regards
Matthew

this ROM is by default with russian keyboard layout - you can get a schaps advanced config and change settings there
MMS will work if you install cab, there is no MMS included in ROM - try to find arcsoft mms cab and it will work fine
there is also few patches that you should apply - battery patch is the most important one

What is the name of battery patch file to look for?

Is there a particular version if arcsoft mms I should be using? I installed the version that was included and I can send mms fine but I am not able to receive them. I will try re- nstalling it to see if that helps.
Is there any one on Vodafone that can confirm my settings with me or do I need to edit a registry setting?

Right, here goes:
I really want to stay with this ROM but if I can't get mms working I'll have to look elsewhere so.....
I'll:
a) Donate 10UKP to the project if I get mms working.
AND
b) Donate 10UKP to the person that gets it working for me.
Easy money to the right person....
Just to be precise MMS must send and receive just like it used to before I upgraded!
I await your help!

No luck. I've just done a hard-reset and installed just the cab you linked to. Set up the wap network and mms settings. When I try to send an MMS with menu->new the composer simply quits and drops me back at the Today screen.
Settings are:
My Work Network:
Vodafone WAP
access point: wap.vodafone.co.uk
user: wap pass: wap
MMS:
Connect via: My Work Network
GW: 212.183.137.12
Port: 9201
Server: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms/
Not sure if this is significant but I can't install the NET CF3.5 from the new addons either.
All the best

My wife has no problems sending or receiving mms. I'm going to steal her sim and do some basic checks. I was considering changing back to radio 1.57 in case there was some notification issues.

Think there's been an attachment issue :-)
I made an tactical decision last night and changed to the new 0MB Page ROM that world & dog have been raving about. Got MMS working under that no problems!
Irus - I believe that the 0MB ROM is yours so providing everthing else works (some issues with Calligrapher at the mo) a tenner coming your way. In fact you can have both tenners!! I'll send them when I get home (the NHS don't let you have any PayPal fun at work)
Many thanks for all you help

Please can anyone help me out of this:
Hi Irus, any thoughts on this before you get back to school? :-)
I flashed Irus' ROM from post #1
h**p://www.eurotelefon.eu/athena/taxist%20ver10%20spl%201.2.zip
After device set-up (screen calibration, date/time adjustment, password set/skip option), the COMPLETE screen appears and the device hangs. Soft rebooting repeats this. As device set up does not fully complete I cannot make a USB connection to the PC for any further flashing attempts.
I previously set my SPL to 1.2 using olipro's hard-spl
Thanks...

You can flash an SPL 1,2 rom from bootloader
Try this , but confirm from the bootloader you do in fact have SPL1.2

I have had this too and found that after a while the windows key became responsive nudging the unit out of the freeze. It also worked just before the customisation began.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Lakeman.
I copied the .nhl file from the PC to my SD card and renamed it ATHEIMG.nhl
Put the card in the Athena and went into bootloader.
Nothing happened. (Is that the correct procedure? I wasn't sure)
Tried again, maybe a reset or two between and the ROM suddenly burst into life.
Sigh of relief!
And what a fast ROM.

I actually meant , put the athena into bootloader by holding down the camera button and pressing reset.
You can load a rom from here by connecting to USB and running the upgrade utility.
I havent been able to do what you did (from a card) because I have anSHDC card which apparently is not recognised.
I am a bit jealous because this is supposed to be a more reliable method.
I found another link in this thread http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WNSRBGH5
which is also labelled taxist10 , but it is a bit smaller, only41.1 mb and apparently has a few fixes included.
i never tried this as I was on SPL3.5 when this was released , but I might just give it a go as Taxists bases seemed quite fast

Thanks for that, Matt. I'll bare that in mind for the future. I've often hit on weird things like that myself. On a previous ROM it was freezing on almost every reset. I found that if I tapped the calendar button at an appropriate moment I could upset the start up sequence and it would struggle into life.

Annoyingly, the country in which I live has banned access to megaupload so I can't follow up on the link that you provided. And I can't access most of the other ROMs on XDA-developers for the same reason. I can get there using proxies, but the proxy servers block largish downloads.
Thanks for explaining about the bootloader. I hadn't realised that you could create a USB connection without a working rom being in place. Tons to read in this great web site, but it takes a lot of unravelling!
