I got a hermes a few months ago as my first winmo phone. I bought it second hand and immediately unlocked it and started messing around with roms and such. It worked fine up until about a month ago. The upper right corner started tapping itself and closing every program that was open and would eventually after about half an hour, would render the touchscreen useless. I searched and searched all over the forum and the web and came across the credit card trick and removing the inner gasket. I tried that and the problem still persisted. I also came across a lot about some hermes' having heat related issues and lose contacts causing the ghost taps and eventual overload.

I decided to combine a couple of the theories and so far, my hermes has been working flawlessly for almost 24 hours when previously it would die in about 3. I also somehow happen to have much longer prolonged battery, I'm assuming due to the phone not trying to compute each ghost tap.

All I did was take apart the phone and instead of only removing the inner gasket, I replaced it with a rubber band cut to length along the right and top side. This keeps the screen further away from the front bezel while also presumably keeping pressure on the contacts on the inside.

I've been making calls and sending texts all day to try and stress test my hermes. Previously I could get through about 1 phone call before needing to let the phone cool down and reset.

I've been lurking on the board for a while so I figured I should share my own success and hopefully help someone else out.

well, at about 1 am tonight, I got the tapping to come back. I was on the internet on my phone for about 20 minutes when the corner tapping occured. I just put the phone down for about 10 minutes and the symptoms went away and I was able to use the device properly again. Previously, the tapping would've continued and rendered the touchscreen useless and would require a cooldown and restart.

So this isn't necesarily a solution but defenitely helps the problem significantly. My phone was useless before and now it just has some manageable issues.
