Ok.. I'm so confused.

I just got a US version of the HTC Dual Touch from Best Buy. Apparently it's not even a Nike device. It's a Neon.

The only reason I know that is because I donwloaded and tried to installed the HTC Keyboard patch and it of course told me the patch was for Nike devices.

Regardless.. the problem I'm having is that in some applications, I cannot get the application to recognize the 20 key keyboard. What I mean is that it only registers numeric keys and the 1st letter of the other keys. So I can type 0-9, q, a, z, o, l, del, enter.

I've tried holding down the SYM key to get it to switch to another text entry mode and it won't.

The biggest problem I'm having is that my company uses Good Mobile Messaging. That means my email, calendar and address book are all served up through the Good suite of apps. And these apps won't recognize the keyboard properly.

I've also noticed this same problem using both the Windows Live and Google Search home screen plugins. They won't recognize the keyboard either.

Keyboard apps like TouchPal seem to work but I bought the dual to get the suretype keyboard.

Any ideas?

Your right.

Never noticed it because i don´t use those apps frequently. Maybe some Niki users could let us know if they ave the same issue.

I have the same problem as well. Got my Touch Dual from Best Buy. Found that the keyboard does not work in Goodlink and some other applications. Exactly the same symptoms reported by adamrogers. I'm disappointed to say the least.

Tried the keyboard patch from HTC's website and ran into the same "this is not a Nike" issue.

This may or may not help, but as soon a I uninstalled PCM Keyboard it was fine and was back to normal. I have not tried the mentioned apps though.

So you are able to use the keyboard in apps like "Windows Live Search" from the Home Screen plugin?

I'm not even sure what PCM Keyboard is so unless it was already installed when I got the device, I don't have it installed.

It's just that stupid program from htc wich lets you choose what input to be used, (as far as i recon) the dual won't let you select the right input if you haven't selected a genuine wm textfield (like in opera 9.x, and the above mentioned apps). In my case, i can only enter numbers. Its a shame that htc uses a kind of software that doesn't recognizes those textfields...

PCM Keyboard is an aftermarket keyboard it seems to confuse the device. I ended up using a cab from htc that disables xt9 and am much happier now...

UPDATE_ I just tried and it does not help when I enable the windows live plugin and try to search... Numbers still... Dang Google plugin works fine though

Weird.. Google plugin doesn't work for me. Do you have the 20-key? If so, it sounds like that CAB automatically enables ABC keyboard. Maybe they can make a CAB that enables XT9 by default. Who did you contact or where did you go to get that CAB?
