Ok, i've seen this quesition asked by many people in the search of this thread that I ran but still haven't seen a fix or answer to it.

Why is the album switching to landscape mode when you click on a picture from Manilla?

Anybody know how to make it stay in portrait?

Running nuerom3 on a Mogul and had it hard reset on me so I decided to try the latest update and everthing seems to work fine aside from the album issue. I was previously running update 12 or 14 I think with no issues.

If there is no fix can I just install the album from an earlier update without starting all over? Can I just uninstall the current album and install an older version? Or install directly over the new one with an older one?

Damn, I wish I wouldn't have installed it. Well I really don't feel like starting over and I just tried to uninstall that cab and even reinstall the album cab but it's still showing up in landscape.

Anybody else know what registry settings I need to hack in order to fix this??

I use my phone primarily for making calls and business so i hide both the pictures widget and the audio widget and then just put links to the camera, photo albums and audio player in the programs widget....its a lot easier for me that way and it saves a LOT of memory

I find the pictures and music widgets to be stupid, sure they look nice but they are not at all practical. I dont want to have to scroll thru my pictures and videos and songs one by one, it takes forever so i end up opening the albums anyways.

I remove the pictures widget as I don't use pictures all that much. Music Widget I leave as it's a convenient way for me to just skip a track without having to leave the home screen.

Mind you, I do also have an icon for Audio Manager in the programs group for times when you want that full functionality.

Have any other WQVGA devices had this problem? After I installed Manila and it began to run I got a bug where I could select nothing on the screen and only the calender would open. on the left hand side there were the FPS and the available RAM. Anyone know how to fix this?

I did a search over this thread and couldn't find an answer. In fact, I'm not very sure if my question should be post here or in other topics, but... I'll give it a try.

First, some information: I have a Touch Cruise running M-Amine 2.0 RTM SP3 ROM. In that ROM, when the red end-call button is pressed, it goes to Manilla Home tab, no matter in what tab I am.

I have a problem in changing .m2dct themes within M2DC. When I change the theme, I get a screwed-up stripe in maps search tab just above the bottom soft-button bar. If I restore the original theme (I made a backup in M2DC), everything is ok again.

M-Amine advised me to install a manilla_patch.cab to correct that issue. That patch does solve it, but once applied, pressing the red end-call button does not lead to Home tab anymore.

Does anyone know how to solve that?

TF3D is a different thing all together. Battery drain is an issue right now, but try the 3D dev posts and roms.

Can someone who has the HTC Touch see if their display brightness adjustment works. I've tried this several times and each time I keep having this problem. Moving the WM6.1 slider up or down has no effect on the screen brightness.

Everything else works great.

If I remove the m2D it works fine.

Hi, I've got a problem on HTC Prophet:
The installation works well, and Manila 2D is very smooth.
But, The boot time is very long and a listing of the windows directory takes about 30 sec! Also some programs run slower...

Does anyone have a solution? Maybe a kind of rom defrag, but how?

In my case not, i also upgraded to the last iContactsBE from yesterday but nothing changed. In iContacts Config. the tab is selected show in contacts, but it does not.

For my problem, by reading this post: http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2006/03/16/552996.aspx I understood that there is no solution if Manila is installed on the ROM. So could it be possible to make cabs which install the most parts of Apps and components on storage card? (like Opera, Youtube, Google maps...)

How much RAM do you have?
Sorry don't know the Prophet, running Kaiser here, and too lazy to look it up
M2D and all the associated apps are rather large and DO LOAD into your RAM upon start.
Did you check how much remaining RAM you have once all is up and running?
For you it may be perhaps better to take a cooked M2D ROM which may leave you with more RAM and gives you better speed.
Regarding reading the Windows directory:
That's - unfortunately - a given with lots of files and M2D added a few more :(

Okay, I had Manila2D installed perfectly etc etc.

I did a hard-reset cuz of a hardware crash. Everything is perfectly installed again, BUT


- I can't add a contact to the 'Contacts' tab
- I can't create a shortcut to the 'Programs' tab

The installation leaves me enough RAM, it is the ROM access which is affected...

But I'll try as you said a cooked ROM.

I'm a little bit puzzled with your answer.
ROM - Read Only Memory is the non volatile memory part where your OS is located but not necessarily running. Parts of the OS have to be loaded into the RAM.
RAM - Random Access Memory is the memory where your programs get executed. As more programs you load into the RAM as less RAM you will have available. A good clean WinMo 6.1 ROM for a Kaiser i.e leaves you with ~ 58 meg of free RAM after a boot. Loading M2D takes ~ 4 -6 meg pending your theme file and the associated pictures and their respective size.

I just checked the Prophet specs so 128MB ROM, 64 RAM will leave you with - BEST CASE - 28 - 30 meg free RAM after all is booted and M2D is loaded.
You may look for a ROM with 4 or 6 MN pagepool only since a larger or dynamic pagepool will reduce your RAM size slightly. You may suffer from memory starvation (running out of mem). Simply try to disable as much as you can (cleartype, fancy background) and check how much RAM is left.
Good tools are memaid and SKTools. Try their settings with NO cache (set to zero) and see what happens. May be slow but stable, that way we can get a handle on where to tweak.

What I wanted to say is that the problem is not about the programs ressources, it is about le file access of windows folder, due to Manila installation. My Prophet still runs programs normaly and Manila works great. But when I want to list the windows folder or doing any ROM access, it takes a lot of time.

About the clock /Alarm:
The manila2d.exe use the ctlpn command.
Clock n Alarm: 8#"ctlpnl"cplmain.cpl,16,0(0 for clock or 2" vor alarm)

About Calendar.exe:
there is an adress in the exe-file where you match the "calendar.exe"

but i don´t know how to edit and save an exe-file an i don`t no if it´s allowed to change exe-files (copyright ?)

I found a cab on another thread that I decided to try. I don't remember the thread, sorry. But I will attach the cab here, and credit goes to the person who made the cab.

I edited the HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml file to include my city.
I then turned off TouchFlo.
Ran this cab. Spikes_Manila_Weather_Fix.cab.
Then launched TouchFlo.

I put both the zip code and the location in two different lines in the xml doc. One line for zip, and one line for location name. The one with the zip couldn't retrieve information, but the one with the location name worked great.

Really wish I could find that post again with this cab in it to give the member proper credit, and post the link in here.

3) When using the Directional Pad to scroll through tabs it's really choppy.

If I need to disable Tocuh Flo how can I?
How can I disable the Touch Cube since I don't use it?
Has anyone else seen the issue I mention above?

Was to busy at work to reply earlier, yes listing the windows dir using fexplorer suffers "a little but" due to the amount of files. I guess nothing we can do about. M2D + themes add ~ 380 files to that directory :mad: and I guess it's even slow reading at a 524MHz device.

Forget 19. I downgraded to 15 which is way more stable on my Sprint Touch. Another problem that arose with 19 was that I couldn't make a call from the People Tab when I clicked on the phone Icon under peoples pictures. I tried update 17 and it was the same. This doesn't happen on 15 though. Just to let anyone know incase I'm not the only one with this looney problem.

I have htc p3400i and i am from india.

i have just installed "Manilla2D-v0.11.cab" (12mb) to my 2gb storage card.

installation took almost 15 minutes and my inbuilt 40mb of storage got filled up and three times i got notification of low space though i select "Storage Card" to install the setup.

finally after 15 minutes waiting and removing some files from inbuilt storage i managed to get installed but now i have just 1.3mb empty space on my inbuilt storage and the biggest problem is my phone got very very slow.

can anyone tell me how would i tune up to get the old faster speed i had without manila2d ?

plz help me as i really liked the way manila2d works and i want to use that.

I've used most versions, except 18, but being on .19 for last while has made me pretty happy, it works well.

Very solid, atleast for me, on 3 different units.

If you don´t use the Clock/Alarm-Function when you tab on th Clock/Aalrm on the Manila-Homescreen:


It is possible to substitute "clpnmain.exe" somewhere in the manila2d.exe with a new name (for example 123456.exe).
Then you can take a single Program (for example: cicleBt.exe), rename this exe-file using 123456.exe and put it into the windowsdirectory.
Now you can toogle Bluetooth on/off when you tab on the clock on the Manila-Homescreen.

Ok I ended up hard resetting and just installed everything and skipped that one and installed JUST the album. And it STILL only shows up in landscape mode.

I have that same problem with adding programs to the launcher list. The list of my programs show up, I click on a program and press "Select"... and the list goes away but nothing is added onto the quick launch.

I never had this problem with 0.10 :(.

Oh and you know you have to download htc home in order for manilla to work better.

Is anyone actually working on this issue or found a solution? I haven't seen anyone respond to it.

In theory, you should be fine with WM5, although most WM6 ROMs run faster than WM5 (in my opinion).

Go for a clean ROM as it'll have more space, and probably have better performance.

i tested the problem pls help solve the following issue
1) HTCYoutube ( not playing video since update14 - 19 )
2) Weather sometimes fail to update unless restart the PPC
3) Photo And Video fail to show in storage card
Unless u copy the photo from storage card into ur device/my document / my picture /

request some function back to original
1) The program can return to previous like that ?? each row gt 3 slot now the latest update gt 3 slot so ugly .

I reinstalled it installing all packages and it worked. I removed the Audio thing and it stopped working again.

so far i havent seen this issue but with the new update (19) it has changed some paths..creating a new DIR called ManilaGFX and thrown about half of the images in that folder...so now skins created dont work for manila2d UNLESS (which i started to do) you look at the new updates HTCHomesettings.xml and change the paths of the skin files xml...well that works BUT with mobilematts black ice v2 the only things that is off is the digital clock which is thrown into the corner and now when i try to edit the xml, one change cause manila2d not to load (it says loading touchflo andf then goes back to press here to launch) any ideas?

I think you can`t change it yet. Take a look at the registry:
The M2D-Programm gets data out of the registry \HKCU\System\State\Appointments

If you entered an Allday- Event it first read: \HKCU\System\State\Appointments\Event
If there is no Event, then you get information out of: \HKCU\System\State\Appointments\HomeScreen

I managed it to show the appointment after the next appointment (\HKCU\System\State\Appointments\Next) instead of the one from HomeScreen, but if there is an allday-event, it will always show this one.

Guys, sorry to bother you with something so simple. I installed "Titan m-2d rom request" and it's working very good.
1- I wanted to use the black volume control like i had when I first installed M2D, but without reinstalling everything.
2- Can I install newer versions of M2D without installing all the other things??
3- On off the problems that I had was the PPC became very slow after changing M2D skins (supposedly because aver 300 files where copied to the windows directory). Can I change skins manually?? and how do I do it??

I found a cab on another thread that I decided to try. I don't remember the thread, sorry. But I will attach the cab here, and credit goes to the person who made the cab.

I edited the HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml file to include my city.
I then turned off TouchFlo.
Ran this cab. Spikes_Manila_Weather_Fix.cab.
Then launched TouchFlo.

I put both the zip code and the location in two different lines in the xml doc. One line for zip, and one line for location name. The one with the zip couldn't retrieve information, but the one with the location name worked great.

Really wish I could find that post again with this cab in it to give the member proper credit, and post the link in here.

Okaye.. I created a small executable that can mimic the default windows mobile apps. It's a bit like VJBrisk and use it as follows:

Let's assume you wan't to fool manilla to use thumbcal instead of the windows calendar:


rename the original /windows/calendar.exe to calendar_.exe (Probably won't work in rom)
rename first and overwrite the run.exe to /windows/calendar.exe (Accept the warning from resco file explorer or other explorer)


create a file "/windows/calendar.run" (alongside the custom calendar.exe) with the following line:

/My Storage/Program Files/Thumbcal,-va


The .run file contains only one line which is divided by a comma.. First element is the executable and after the ',' come the arguments. If the .run file in the rom will be editable, we can ourselves choose our applications to be started by manilla...Also in the original rom, you can overwrite the .exe with (for example) resco explorer..

Features and comments are welcome! I'm already using it for thumbcal and icontact and works like a charm.. This way you can replace all original executables with custom ones (on storage card).

Arguments for Thumbcal:

Guys. I have installed Manilla2D .19a on my HTC Titan and all has gone good. I have none of the issues that I have been reading from the other users, but I do have one small one.

If I launch Opera and a few other apps, it seems that Manilla unloads and when it reloads, it unloads the app I am in. I always seem to have to launch Opera twice to get it running. My navigation software will sometimes unload, but not always. When I say unload, I do not mean it minimizes. The application shuts down. It is not listed under the HTC Task Manager.

Have any of you had this issue? If so, have any of you found a way to stop this from happening? I would also like to know if I load the files for the touch cube but do not have it loaded on the Today Screen, will I get the BioTouch support in the applications that normaly do not have this support? I am mainly talking about the applications folder and settings folder, but also contacts and applications like that.

I downloaded "ALL DEVICES (VERSION 19b) WITH YOUTUBE ON INTERNET WIDGET" for my HTC apache and i cannot install the 08 and 09 cabs, I'm new to this whole scene so maybe im doing something wrong. I just copy the files to my htc and run them in the file exporer, right? the error simply says "**** cannot be installed". I am installing them to my memory card and have 2mb on my internal memory. could that be why?

Hi everyone... I found that update 19 did not allow for custom weather cities. I also relizzed out that the patches I found out there were for an older versions of Manila so I followed N2A's instruction and created a patched Manila2d.exe for the latest Manila 1.0.1819.2926... dunno if anyone is interested but I have posted the patched exe here:

Reinstall M2D from 19B

I have a simular problem, but not with just text messaging. This happens with Opera and a few other apps. When TouchFlo reloads, it seems to cause my app to unload and not be listed in the Task Manager. I have not seen anyone else mention anything about this. Please help if you have seen this. Thanks.

Everthing working fine now except youtube still error can't play video.

So, I decide to uninstall htc youtube and change internet gadget to coreplayer. (which support youtube itself)

I install only Manilla2D-v0.11alldevices.cab and then the bugfix.cab, because I don`t need the other progs. I have a Prophet and it works.

I haven't been following all the recent builds but I don't remember this on earlier ones... when I click on something like a quick link to text someone from the people tab, it will just highlight the name and I have to click it again for it to actually initiate the command... basically anything u click on it seems a lot more delayed and you need to hold the click a bit more.. whats up with that?

then you can change this in the exe-file:

i found out yesterday that tf2d versions 14 thru 19 do not take to new themes as well as v13. i downloaded 13 along with the customizer and no more theme problems. but what i want to know is, what is different about v13? why does it take themes and 14-19 wont (for me, anyway) and is there a fix? (by the way, the problem i was having was when i extracted and overwrote the theme into \windows or used m2dc i would restart, it said tap here to launch tf, but it never loadedin versions 15 or 19. but it works flawlessly in v13). thanks

I ran 13 and flashed my phone to install 19B. M2DC worked in both versions. It even works in the integrated ROM I use right now (believed that the integration is done with 19b) - I have a Kaiser so there may be an issue with other phones?

WOW, this is very very large TOPIC, I started reading it, but wow 469 pages its too much.

I have to ask, I installed this "touch flo 2d/manilla" WOW its great!!, i love it so much

but my ONLY problem is the Music tab dont work, sometimes it shows a window that sais audio manager but it close it self in less than 1 second.

Any fixes for that??

im going to try to FACTORY RESET the Phone and then installing this again, to see if it fixes it, but if this have happend to someone or is theres any fix, please let me know.

i realy like manila i used cab rather than rom i just hate the homescreen it is stupid i want to have phonealarm alarm today and few more usefull programs there, rather than a huge stupid clock and i dont realy want use a second screen so is there a way eather create a new main tab with all the normal plugins (phone alarm) or just easiest way to plugin this stupid main screen

Hi!

Finaly i got the Swedish update for WM 6.1. Flashed my device and installed the backup made by Sprite Backup (latest) but when it was done NOTHING was installed on my device when i checked the remove programs. How come?
I used the migrate option 2 when restoring the backup.
And my whole MD2 was gone and not working... :( The files are there but not visable in the installed programs list.

So no i can take the time to test the new update 19.

Now to my qestion, does my old translation work on this new update?

Been using since version 16 and loving it, but:

Stock AT&T Tilt, stock 6.1 Tilt ROM; I cannot get the volume to work in Audio Manager 2.0x. It works fine in 1.2 (but ugly as hell), works fine in S2P, scroll whell works works fine in other applications. Please someone help me fix this and I will have everything I need!

Maybe this will run on QVGA devices to.

And attached is the new HD Opal Album. It will definitely need resizing of the skin.xml files.

Most of the graphics can be replaced by the Opal version. The opal Skin.xml can act as a reference for the correct measurements (don't replace the whole skin.xml, there a re a few new graphics, which will need resizing)

So whoever wants to help out Herg with this i'm pretty sure people will be happy.

Myself i'm testing with the new M3D version to get it working on Diamond.

One potential issue with putting graphics on the storage card is that some power states disable bits of hardware like the memory card, which can screw up Manila a lot!

Use Advanced Config (or something like it) to disable SD Card power off, and other power settings to avoid this.

Hi i am kinda new at this whole thing i have downloaded and copied Opal_Touchpro_OEM_Packs. to my tilt. I dont kno how to install it. Non of them are cab. files and that i was i am used to using. Is that even the right package to use to get touchflo2d on my tilt. If some one could lead me in the right direction I'd appreciate it

Does no one have the problem of m2d stealing focus when you're in another app? It seems like it happens when the clock changes... but I can be texting or whatever and BAM! m2d pops up and I have to switch back to my text message :(

i think this happens when manila 2d crashes in background and reloads itself

so when reload is complete it pops up on top of all the apps

The new manila2d build 1.0.1820.3328 does not have landscape support. I took the jade rom and ripped most of the newer oem packs out of it. The camera again still doesn't work its verison 6.8 by the way. There are a couple of updates, one of the major ones being the album and manila2d. I don't see any difference in the new manila2d, other than it actually uses the helvetica font, and has larger icons in the settings tab. The outline of xml also changed quite a bit, about 1.5kb more than the previous version. I was skimming through the mui files, and there seems to be options for screen rotation, lock device and backlight. I believe these should be located in the Programs tab, but they are not as usual...

i posted this in the themes thread but so far, no help. i have Not been able to load a theme on update 19. i have used m2dc, ive tried copying and overwriting to /windows/manilagfx and ive tried copying and overwriting to /windows and Nothing works. when i go and reactivate touchflo, i tap here to launch But it says launching touchflo but always goes back to "tap here..." without loading. i have a sprint touch with the stock 6.1 rom and m2d update 19. i have also tried update 15 thru 18 with same outcome. 13 works but as you know 13 and previous versions are much more buggy. any help, please. im desparate. thanks.
