I don't think so, read OpenGL drivers status (http://www.htcclassaction.org/driverprogress.php), if they release a functional drivers, touchflo 3D will be easiest to port to our kaisers

Well, I've been told that there is a YouTube Video of where somebody has succesfully gotten the OpenGL working on the Kaiser using newer drivers from the Diamond I guess. I forgot to save the link. But I will try and find it for you all.

Well you can change the Image-Sizes, and you can change the code...but you can't change the driver for other devices that are needed to run touchflo 3d correctly! You have to make new drivers...

the drivers are under developement (reade some post in this thread) and maybe, i dont know when, will be released. but also with the drviers the problem is always to chenge some vlaues in the dll and lua , etc files...

Nothing is EVER impossible to do. It might require some rewrite and compatibility changes (chip set wise) to get it to work on non Diamond devices. It just takes time and the right people to get the job done ;) Unfortunately our BIOS programmer seems to have disappeared...

i have found this cab file on diamond rom forum that has been packed into a cab file.
the credit goes to theloneranger since he was the one who created this file.
it is the updated touchflo 3d file that htc made in the current rom 1.37.

Same at me.
But I figured out, that there's a "libgles_cm.dll" in the manila folder.
This differs from the one, that is included in the 3D-driver.
The 3D-driver contains of a small libgles_cm.dll (19kB) and a libgles_cm_ks.dll (213kB).
The manila one is about 400kB. So we have to tell manila to use the dlls of the driver, not its own.

Then when the app searches the system for the correctly named one, it'll use the new 3D driver. If Manila is full-screen then it of course won't work.

Some reason, Manila won't start up unlike with the included software libgles_cm which gets me about 3FPS with 45MB free.

hmm, well I'm a pretty big newb when it comes to software, but is there any other way to "point" it to the right driver?It IS pointing to the right driver once you remove/rename the one included.
Anyways, the reason it fails is because Manila makes an illegal call to glClear() without setting up/initializing the current GL context. Probably never caught because the included GL driver checks for stupid stuff like this while the fast3D doesn't.
Could probably fix it by wrapping the fast3D driver to make it check and ignore the call.

Herg i tried installing the versions you have posted here (also TRL versions) on my eten x500+ (VGA 400 Mhz).
But after installing i don't see any of the pictures just white spaces, i see the clock turning (but not the numbers) and i can navigate but i just can't see the icons or pictures (just white spaces) the text is displaying correct.
Do you know what this could be ,i didn't have this problem using the beta versions.
BTW i did a fresh rom flash and found that my phone has a d3dm.dll a d3dm_sedrv.dll and a ddraw.dll in my windows folder, does this mean if manila get to work with those files would it work ??

That's cause porn's only useful for about 5-7 minutes at a time... (doesn't say much for me I know) but XDA is at least an hour at a time... To add something useful, I went through EVERY width/height value in the home.m9 files and reduced all by half and couldn't get the slider bar working... so there's got to be something else to make it work.
may be you should try searching anything regarding multi touch info.... if it is programmed for multi-touch screen ...
Just give it a shot.

Has anyone been able to get Manila running on a WM emulator on their desktop?
The reason I'm interested is because I want to be able to replicate the Manila weather animations in my WeatherPanel theme (by making MNG animations). I figure if I can get Manila to run on my desktop PC inside a WM emulator then it would be relatively easy to capture the animations.

I've also tried the HTCManila_TLR.CAB (available at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406850). It installs fine but HTC TouchFlo 3D refuses to start.
So are you able to get the Weather Animations to work in your emulator environment? Is there some step that I'm missing in order to install TouchFlo on an emulator?

Not really. It should help improve the speed whne we use it, but not in developing it since developing has to do with resizing it to QVGA.

I will check in WinCE Cab Manager to see where original files install to and just redo the cab with the newer files. I would be happy to repost updated cab if someone gives me the proper instructions. Everyone is doing great, outstanding, and might I say even ground-breaking work on this driver and package and I am so proud of this site and the strong community we have here. be careful not to insult since you used "gays" when it could mean "guys" yet the 2 different letters are too far way to be a typo so i'm assuming you're insulting and discriminating at same time which will put you on a quick path to being banned for being new and not reading general rules, having manners with no sense of any etiquette.

the performance on manilla with these drivers is clearly not as good as a diamond, but beyond the minimal required for a usable experience... the only thing left is to get it to work! im guessing the gestures expected are still wanting a 640x480 screen. without the source and no QVGA version in existance, im not entirely sure itll be able to fix that... unless we are very lucky and its in an XML or similar (maybe even registry)
of course, i could be totally wrong too.

Just wanted to check in and see if anyone (on the development side) had visited this since the release of the July 29 driver patch.
It looked like they had figured it out for the most part, but the lack f performance discouraged them from continuing. Now that the performance is at a more reasonable speed, is the plan to push forward? Or is the release of the source material a white flag asking someone else to take over?

20 to 30 isn't bad but it is still slow for a QVGA device (my opinion). The other problem for me is that these drivers are only good for a Kaiser. Since I don't own one I'm still looking in from the outside.

some hints on what uve used and how uve been tweaking on these roms would be cool, im ready to get my mits on a working copy and if i can be involved in making it work would be awesomes, but my coding experience is mostly VB these days and my hacking was all back in the 680x0 days, so im really not sure where to start.
what would be awesome is something like old skool action replay - the ability to pause the os, search for values etc, find exactly where everything is. im guessing we CANT do that with visual studio like u can with projects u have the source for?

Has anybody been able to get a response from the home button etc on a qvga device?
What scripts have already been altered apart from manila.lua to display the home screen etc?
Also does anybody know how the screen cords are generated in manila.m9 uses some big numbers for x, y & h cordinates?

I can run the old cab file but it's slow as we all know.:(
Because my device has a vga screen i should be able to run it without major problems except for the fps.

Just found that in the Diamond ROMs!
Attached is the Diamond version.
EDIT:
Looking at the Diamond version, it seems to imply the today screen DLL is in the windows folder. From that dll, we may be able to get more of the file paths.
EDIT2:
The Touch Pro version has the extra line:
<parm name="EnableLandscape" datatype="string" value="true"/>
Which would enable the extra features of the Touch Pro...

TouchFlo 3D Technologies (http://www.sanneblad.com/2008/08/05/touchflo-3d-technologies/)
Nice find.:D
This is what is on the forum
If you are using a HTC Touch Diamond, you might be interested in what technologies HTC used to create their start page application TouchFlo 3D.
If you go to “Settings” and scroll down to “About” you will see a list of copyright notices from the various technologies used. This list however does not explain what the product does, and in some cases it does not even describe the full product name (e.g. the Vincent OpenGL ES renderer is listed as “OpenGL by Hans-Martin Will”.
Below I have “translated” the copyright notices on the HTC Touch Flo 3D About page into product names, and also added brief descriptions to the products taken from their home pages.
* Boost. (http://www.boost.org/). “Free peer-reviewed portable C++ source libraries.”
*Open source*
* FreeImage (http://freeimage.sourceforge.net/). “An Open Source library project for developers who would like to support popular graphics image formats like PNG, BMP, JPEG, TIFF and others as needed by today’s multimedia applications.”
*Open source*
* Lua (http://www.lua.org/) “Lua is a powerful, fast, light-weight, embeddable scripting language.”
*Open source*
* Luabind. (http://www.rasterbar.com/products/luabind.html) “Luabind is a library that helps you create bindings between C++ and Lua. It has the ability to expose functions and classes, written in C++, to Lua.”
*Open source*
* Vincent 3D Rendering Library. (http://www.vincent3d.com/Vincent3D/software/ogles1/ogles1.html) “This project maintains a compliant implementation of the OpenGL ES 1.1 API specification for mobile devices.”
Open source*
* STLport. (http://stlport.sourceforge.net/) “STLport is implementation of C++ Standard Library”
*Open source*
* Rapidxml. (http://rapidxml.sourceforge.net/). “RapidXml is an attempt to create the fastest XML parser possible, while retaining useability, portability and reasonable W3C compatibility.”
Open source*
* SWIG (http://www.swig.org/). “SWIG is a software development tool that connects programs written in C and C++ with a variety of high-level programming languages (such as Lua).”
Open source*
* BString.BString. (http://bstring.sourceforge.net/) “The Better String Library is an abstraction of a string data type which is superior to the C library char buffer string type, or C++’s std::string.”
Open source*
What I found most interesting in the above list is that HTC used the now discontinued Vincent renderer for 3D graphics instead of trying to get Direct 3D Mobile to work. I can only assume that this is to help HTC move their code base to other platforms such as Android in the near future ( which supports Open GL ES 1.0).
Very interresting i think, so i thought i post it here completely.

It does run smoother with the new drivers but its VGA so it doesnt work on the Kaiser. The only reason that guy got it to work is because he is running NYDITOT Virtual Display and i myself cant figure out how to run that, so i just removed it.

EDIT: Later thoughts.
thinking about it, the fact that it works on the kaiser with software GL and res emulation pretty much proves that the only thing really stopping it work on kaiser is resolution, and falling short of a d3d/openGL compatable resolution emulation tool or the source for manilla, is there really much we can do? Do we really think HTC had the foresight to not hardcode the res? do they consider they might have better screens in the future? this IS HTC after all.

that idea is a no go anyways - just tried lights under nyditot - cant initialise d3d, exits...
ive got an idea for a solution but it needs the assistance of the HTC-CA coder/s - see the htc-ca thread for that.

maybe not.....that just means the install has a file that htc-ca drivers has. we need to find out that file and correct it.

i think that you need to use the same version of manilla as the guy in the video. i had it running with nyditot and the manila.1.0.0103.0.release.rar. but on an elfin touch
also make sure that you have libGLES_CM.dll in the program files/htc folder

im not following your logic... in qvga with htc-ca or reference (standard) driver, the app works, but gestures and clicks etc dont function as expected.
in emulated VGA, the htc-ca drivers dont function (as expected due to way emulated VGA works) but manilla un-moded functions PERFECTLY.
what i gather from this is that the gestures/clicks etc havent been reworked to QVGA, only the graphics have. i dont think we are fighting with missing dll's or anything like that, just a by product of running a VGA app in QVGA.
imagine it in reverse... if manilla was QVGA and we were porting to VGA. the current situation (if my theory is correct) would mean the app worked, but every click/gesture would have to be done in the top left 1/4 of the screen and would not be aligned to the graphics - this wouldnt be a major suprise at all.

it appears to be a problem with the links, what if you resized the links by the same percentage as you resized the images?

i took for granted that nyditot would work with libGLES_CM.dll in the folder - that situation would gain me nothing - working app, speed of a donkey. unless nyditot can be forced to work with htc-ca, speed is going to be aweful and the app useless. it does help to prove a point tho

here's a great post by Timb320:
This may have been done already so pardon question. There are obvously two main issues to resolve:
1) Performance
2) proper fit and finish for Qvga phones like the kiazer , I think this has allot of imact on why when you touch anywhare you get the calendar, because its not correctly sized.
Hence my question, have you guys looked at the configuration files for x, y, Top, Left settings and made sure they are correct for our Non diamond devices?? I bet Money that once those settings are corrected (along with Qvga images) then when you Touch the Mail Icon, you will get the Mail page and so on..
I looked at them briefly and of course there are many of these, but here is an example entry from the manila.m9 config file:
X="63232" Y="0" Width="65280" Height="65280"
And another example from home.m9:
machineStatus_OnDateChanged();" />
</Object>
<Object Type="GLESSprite2D">
<Property Type="String" Name="Name"
Animated="False" Value="Background" />
<Property Type="RectF" Name="UV"
Animated="False" X="0" Y="0" Width="122880"
Height="13312" />
I was thinking you could use a tool like the Address Book 3 Caller ID editor to figure this stuff out, Just thinking out loud, probably a better way.
THis work OK on my Kaizer but slow and clickable area isnt correct.
I'm not sure what is causing the slow rendering issue of course :)

is it as easy as that? i serious doubt it :( if its hardcoded, unless ur a legend with a disasembler or very very lucky with a hex editor, i dont think itll be easy to find where to change that sorta thing.
there is a vaige possibility that HTC have stored screen res in reg entry or similar - if thats true - once we find it, we probably will have a perfect manilla! :)

here's a great post by Timb320:
thats some good info there. the main issue is that the settings are in twips - and i beleive twips are resolution insensitive - as in they adapt to resolution.
for instance say 1024twips = 32pixels across on a QVGA, then itd be 64pixels across on a VGA screen - so i dont beleive just halving those numbers will fix it. however, its gotta be worth a go!

well, i just checked out all the .m9 files, and they have a lot of WIDTH/HEIGHT/Z values that might need to be halved, so it would take a long time changing all of them
good luck though!

use the first ever release of manilla that came out - the one that was used in the nyditot video - replace the EXE with the HTC-CA patched one. we get the top left 1/4 of the screen - click the appointments soft tab...the buttons that ARE visible ARE usable!!!

as far as i can see, herg has been the main driving force behind getting manilla to work, but i could be wrong, but it was his cabs that got it working on my device first and then with HTC-CA drivers.
yes the idea is to continue to work of resizing/adjusting scripts - really we are down to one issue left i beleive and im trying to help discover what exactly that is, how exactly we need to resolve it and then to assist at the least in that process.

Oh definitely, Herg is the one who's putting in ALOT of the work. I think my point is that even if we figure out the correct X & Y values (and I've just spent 2 hours trying to figure it out, hope my boss doesn't see this) for the calender and others, it's still going to run at 4-7fps and that's where Herg's work comes in.

thats your point? but erm...the HTC-CA drivers work...for both hergs version and the full VGA ones. not diamond speeds, but usable for sure. id say a minimum of 15 fps.
Now im not a LUA coder (just asp/php/vb/780x0 asm/c#/delphi/blitz ;) ) but i love learning new languages, from what ive seen of the manilla LUA scripts and my little PSP lua experience, it shouldnt be too hard to grasp.

You had seemed to assert if we just edit the X, Y, Height & Width values that all will be right and it will be fully working; But until the HTCCA drivers are developed further (I never said they didn't work) and Herg continues his campaign for correct dlls & rewritten GLES files, along with whatever he needs in LUA files, this will not be a full fledged QVGA.
Now I'm not a LUA programmer either (just asp.net/c#/c++/vb/java/jscript/sql ;)) but I'm with you, let's crack open the LUA beginner's guide and get to work on helping hergzilla.

This is frikin Excitting seeing a discovery just around the corner...
As for the assert (being as I brought it up originally) I suspect this is ONLY Part of the solution. The other part is the on the graphics side.
On a Side note, even though the install I did had QVGA pngs's there were still what appeared to be VGA folders/graphics installed. Wonder (not having access to the manila.exe source code) what or IF it is hardcoded to ref these VGA specific files?

As for getting the right W/H numbers I was thinking of using Inesofts Skin Caller ID Generator to figure the correct numbers , you can check the "Show Align Rectangle and adjust for the area you need it to get the correct X Y.
Ah so this may only help for X Y #s.
Note THis tool is a free download at inesoft.com. Grab a skin and rename the *.cid to ZIP and extract , then open with this tool play around and take a look at the skin.ini output for the numbers - Or just note it on the UI screen..
I mean you could use this as guild where a Button is supposed to be
Or we need to build a similar tool for this project. :)
