Alright, so I managed to solve everything, including the Audio Manager bug. HERE (http://zmlee.wordpress.com/2009/05/25/manila-2d-anyone/) has the detailed and clear instruction on how to install M2D properly without any hitch. Enjoy. :)

when i first install manila , in setting tab/ about, it says version 1.2.1913.1530. after i install m2d test, it becomes 1.2.18xx.xxxx (i don't remember the number, but it's lower) so i think it downgrades. i don't see the youtube link under browser as well (well perhaps it's just me). when i realize that, i uninstall m2d test cab and BHAM, manila wouldn't start at all. so forces me to reinstall everything all over again. :[
what's worse, i couldn't uninstall herg manila, uninstallation progress bar is running, but afterwards it's still exist in remove program. but after i re-install herg manila over existing program (twice!) it works afterwards.
eniwei, even w/o m2d test, it works perfect. so i prefer to not install it, even if it doesn't 'downgrade'. it eats up memory as much as manila itself. that's reason enough.

google for an "Advanced task manager" and install it, then use it to kill the biotouc.exe

I read that the new HTCUtil.dll need to change to the old one.
But I can not manage to delete the HTCutil.dll.
Is there a way to delete that file or maybe rewrite it with the old one.

if you face problem in deleting .dll files, you may....

1. real close the related software (the one which occupying the .dll),

2. rename to x.dl (just make the file extension from *.dll to *.dl )

3. softreset, then you can delete the said file ( you may copy your desired dll to the folder once you had successfully renamed the previous one :))

if you face problem in deleting .dll files, you may....

well...... if files are in rom, you will never able to modify them BUT

fake overwrite is possible. And

unknown123456 is right,

using the virtual 2 windows mode in the Total Commander to fake- overwrite the files in rom is a good act. (never forget to stop all the related processes before you do so )

YOU MAY... (personal suggestions.. ;))

1. disable setting tab with M2DC or .xml editing (advance user only), if you just wanna get rid of it....

I have Resco Explorer which overwrites sysfiles just fine. It is just simply changing the skin doesn't work for me.

Maybe if I knew where actually the PNGs for the Sound Profiler are declared (like other imgs and prefs are declared in HTCHomeSettings.xml), I could fix the stuff.

Not quite sure about "loading" 'cause no matter how long I wait, nothing happens after I single-tap on Sound panel. On the other hand CommManager starts on single-tap just fine.:)

Although I have a different device (in fact HTC) I had the same problem and can give you a few ideas on where to start.

1. Try to install a different build of Manila2D (at least if you care more about it working than about having the latest version) like UPDATE 19 in the top thread. I was unable to get some soft from Iolite build working.

2. I solved my error message cycle problem by replacing Manila2D.exe of my build with the exe I extracted from the older one (shouldn't be a problem for an advanced user, but if you'll find it hard - go for #1)

3. Check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2691419&postcount=2741 There is one Q/A dedicated to this problem specifically.

4. You can also google for a custom ROM with Manila2D cooked in, which was designed specifically for your device. (If someone was able to get it working on LG-KS20, there is probably such a ROM)

I think all the language files are kept seperate from the main program so that shouldnt matter. If its a pre-Footprints version then try *THIS* (http://www.4shared.com/account/file/65340291/13f82f8a/Scotchua_Manila_Fix.html) weather fix. Backup your manila.exe file (or just add .bak to the filename) in your windows folder first so you can copy it back if anything goes wrong or it doesnt work.

In the cab-file of some german patch is some strange file which contains the same content than the weather xml file but every time I'll change something in there, the whole cab-archive size decreases massively ...

I did change the positioning of my swedish translation of my weather.
It was a long time ago now and if you look at the picture you can see that the description is overlaping each other.

Can someone nice person here tell me which xml file it was that i edited and which values to edit to move the description Alvesta,SE slightly to the left to make more room for the weather description on the same line to the left.

And while we are at it, how can i remove the line as well? I remember that i followed a guide about how to remove this but it did not work.

it's a very common issue.
yust install "ox common shared dlls" and/or "contact fix" and it'll work.
sometimes u have to press the button repeatedly o.O don't know why.

M2DC doesnt wipe any settings it only changes what you want to change.

It also has an option to backup your original theme and your original settings. If you do both these when yoy first install it then you can get back to your original configuration anytime you want to.

1. there are ThrottleLauncher having the similar clock for at least (there are marely an M2D clock cab yet, correct me if wrong ;))

2. not necessary to make assignments, M2D will look for Audio Manager and HTCalbum when you tap over them automatically.

Hi guys! I have a problem with m2d. On my mail tab it shows only earlier messeages, not the newest. It only refreshes after reset, but the problem is still there. If I go to the inbox, everything is ok. But I can't read the e-mails on the tab screen of m2d.

As far as im aware there is no second hand on the digital clock in Manila2D. Maybe its showing your alarmsince you have an alarm set for 09:30 and it looks like thats about where the yellow hand is showing. Try changing your alarm time and see if the hand changes.

my manila found my city but it says it impossible to download data..


with the old version i've always used the debarron cab (v21) to apply the patch.. now is possible to use other patch or is impossible to reach my city???

v1 was firstly unsigned, hexedited to the n2a server and then signed
v2 was directly hexedited and to the n2a server and then signed.

both are working for me.

I am wanting to add the Footprints APP and TAB to my ELFin. I installed the Take 3 M2D and the Footprints.cab. It worked, but the images all 4 of them, look fuzzy, and I couldn't get it to link with Google Maps, maybe it's because I am running the latest Google Maps, well any help will be appreciated.

I'm trying to use Manilla 2D on my Mitac Mio A701, however it doesn't start. I can install it successfully, however when I tap on the "Tap here to launch TouchFlo" nothing happens. It tries to launch it, but it can't. The same happens when I install it on my Samsung Omnia.
I have these files:

I'm trying to use Manilla 2D on my Mitac Mio A701, however it doesn't start. I can install it successfully, however when I tap on the "Tap here to launch TouchFlo" nothing happens. It tries to launch it, but it can't. The same happens when I install it on my Samsung Omnia.

Thank you very much, Effectively, the V.19 is the good version for non-HTC devices.

But I have a good new for everybody who have a lot of problems with weather, launcher, setting, etc... Because a had a lot of issue, I did a thing that is solve ALL my problems with my NON-HTC Device (Airis T483) !!!! :)

In Windows repertory :

- find all files that have "0409" in its name (9 files)
- rename the "0409" by "040C" in all the files. If it dont run, try to rename them with "0C0A"

That all ! I hope the soluce was not find in precedent posts but with this, All all your problems going to be solved ! (I hope for you) :D

I uninstalled M2D and went to bed last night at 11:00 PM with a full battery and 25 megs of memory. Woke up again at 6:00 AM and memory was at 23 megs and battery was at 88% and again did not get any phone calls or use the phone...just a couple e-mails at about 4:30.

So with M2D battery lost 59% and memory dropped 11 megs in 7 hours
Without M2D battery lost 11% and memory dropped 2 megs in 7 hours

Great work here, really appreciated.

I installed Update 19 for ALL devices and it is working great. I have been fighting for the last day to get youtube player to work. It loads and shows videos but is always says 'cannot play video'.

Any Ideas as to what I should do to fix this?

Also I see that there is a UPDATE 23, which is way passed 19, I dont have HTC device can I install update 19 then 23 over it? or is 19 the only update that supports all devices?

One more thing, I dont use my device to listen to music so I did not install the Audio Manager, will that effect my device negatively? I also did it with installing and didnt see a different so I removed it. Same goes for HTC album, which I do not need. any issues with that?


Please forgive me if I have overlooked something. I would really like some answers if it is possible.

I have a problem with my PPC (HTC P4350, Windows Mobile 6 Professional CE OS 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.3) and Manilla (installed the latest version Manila 2D Build v1.20.19131530.0).

As you can see in the following picture my softkeys are gone for every manila tab. They disappear after starting touch flow.

Change theme with M2DC to a theme with digital clock :)
Icons change you will need either have a program like SKTools Shortcut Manager (http://s-k-tools.com/index.html?sksmgr/m_sksmgr.html) and a .dll with the resources you want to replace, or can do it manually via .dll with resources and editing the .lnk's "Plenty info on XDA about this"

I have the Test Iolite M2d. I enjoy it alot. I understand that it is a "shell" that is customizeable using M2DC.

I have done some searching on XDA and other sites to get a better understanding of my phone and I have yet to find out a true answer.

My question are there any other "shells" out there? I have read about a SPB Shell(?) but I believe that needs to be purchased.
If there are others out there, which is the best one for say asthetics?

manilla is certainly the most specific shell as is only emu TF3D and what effort amzing however there is throttle launcher and point ui which are free and are skinable point ui is better than throttle launcher however TF2D rocks

I am running manila2d v21 on my Samsung i760, and everything is working fairly well, but i have a few questions that I can't find answers to:

First off, I can't seem to find any of the xml files to change settings in manila.. I found HTCHomeSettings, but you can't do a ton with that..

Also, when I go to the pictures tab, everything works except the softkeys for "album" and "slideshow". When I press either one, nothing happens. I wanted to use VJbrisk to handle what these two softkey buttons do anyways, but I have no idea what exe files manila is trying to call here.

All function as Audio, Weather,Maps seach eg works perfect.

My other TYTN II Kaiser have the same manilla and will not be updated to any other RUU (swedish version).

My problem are to get the commands under the function in this mobil. I have the Advanced Config program running but there are no funtion setting for this.

this is why you need an xml that relocates half of the manila files to a separate folder.
Look in the weather wallpaper thread (sig) and download my theme. I moved everything I could out of windows.
I plan to make a manila specific post in my GFX optimisation thread. I might be able to work on it tonight.
(I hope that I can post it by morning)
I used to have a Wizard, so I know what a pain it is to install Manila on OMAP 850 and 30mb free ram... you practicaly have to rebuild it.

I assume you mean the digital clock. I think it would require resizing the weather images again since it appears they would otherwise cover up the numbers too much.

actually, weather would get covered up. the clock would not. you just need to make the digits or the backgrund of the clock semitransparent. which would look pretty cool :) in manila 23 the clock bakground is called colon. unless your clock is all digits (with frames) which is an ineficient waste of space) then all you have to do is set the tranparency of the clock separator to something like 50 or 75%. If the clock background is the actual digits (0-9) then you need to set the transparency for all of those.

I am not volunteering to do this. I prefer analogue clock... Just old fashioned like that I guess.

I do recomend using the larger images that I made. just make sure that you edit the xml like i said in post 2 of the weather thread.

it is really easy. do you have photoshop?
Toolbar /image/mode/ rgb

then duplicate the layer and set the transparency to 50 or 75 percent.

then : Toolbar /File/Save for Web and Devices/ save it as PNG24

throw the new files back to where they came from using activesync. make sure you disable manila.

you want to copy all the large weather images I posted into the windows directory.
take out the HTCHomeSettings.XML out of your windows directry to your computer. open with notepad (turn off word wrap) and select the entire weather panel. copy the weather panel I posted and paste it into your xml replacing the old one with the new.
drop your new xml into windows. start manila. copy the latest WxWall script into startup ( if you already have mortcript in your rom execute the script it or install mortscript and reset)
now you have weather wallpaper and a transparent clock.

it is not that dificult.

I plan to make a manila specific post in my GFX optimisation thread. I might be able to work on it tonight.

I used to have a Wizard, so I know what a pain it is to install Manila on OMAP 850 and 30mb free ram... you practicaly have to rebuild it.
Thanks S.V.I.! Love M2d for its functionality but customizing the standard Hero clock to a transparent theme using a cab file with only the digital & background files immediately slows this poor Elfin (albeit 128 RAM) by a good 2 cursor rotations. :(

I had experimented relocating all the the gfx files to \M2D dir leaving out the exe, dll, and xml inside \Windows & edited the xml file to reflect the \M2D dir. M2D boots up but gfx from Launcher, Weather, etc. didn't showed up. My incompetency with programming shelved the project, hence my post for help!

Will check your theme soon although I may have came across your work before in one of the old M2D version with a \Windows\gfx directory. I will be looking forward to your M2D specific post & see how it goes with this poor Elfin.

take out the HTCHomeSettings.XML out of your windows directry to your computer. open with notepad (turn off word wrap) and select the entire weather panel. copy the weather panel I posted and paste it into your xml replacing the old one with the new.
drop your new xml into windows. start manila. copy the latest WxWall script into startup
it is not that dificult.


Could not leave it alone, had to test and i did the above without any result beside that i got my default wallpaper on the today screen and the script is updating my original weather tab.

What to do next? :)

Maybe if i see the weather i will manage to find some time to learn how to edit the digital clock :)

Thanks for the answer, but for now i have to put this on hold for awhile since i have reinstalled everything because i could not restore it as it was before i started with this. :) So i decided to try a newer build #21 but now i have another problem with the contacts not sticking on the contacts tab after a reboot of the device. :) Do you or anyone else know why?

I don't want to use the latest build because there's no weather patch out yet.

As i wrote i can't make my contacts tab to remeber my added contacts unless i enable the cube, add my fav contacts and then disable the cube again to save some memory. It's like it relfects the cubes contacts...

Have tried to find a solution to this in this thread but without any luck.
I went from update 14 to this newer 21 one to speed up my Manila, but if the contacts tab don't work i must go back to my old update 14 :(

Is there a solution to this?

Aha! :) So where can i get this weatherpatched for update 23?

And if i'm not misstaken i do need a localized HTC Home 2.1 since i use a swedish device...?! Is it possible to find out what version i have now? If so how?

Clean WM install and stop the cube and then install the cab file?

BTW i looked at the cab file now and it's not as big as the others should be when put together, so is it just to

Installed update 23 now ontop of my old update 21 and everything seems to work fine but my footprints tab it says "Wait" in Swedish since my translation is in Swedish.

My question is:

Wich mui 0409 file holds the language for the footprints?
I think my problem is that my old translation causes this... and it was some time ago since i did it so i have forgotten where to look for this. :)

I'm sorry for this surely stupid and noob question.. but I'd like to understand: which is the difference between this Manila 2D build 1.20.19131530.00 and the TouchFLO 3D v2.1.xxxx that come with some new cooked ROM (i.e. for Blackstone)?
I have been searching for a lot about Manila 3D and TouchFLO standalone cab releases in order to install on a Blackstone SuperLite ROMs and understand the behaviour and the differences ..but I was able only to find a cab of TF3D v1.3.35345.1_1630.38 and none one for TF3D v2.1.xxx.......
Long short story: I have not clearly understand the difference between Manila version releases and (above all) the difference between Manila 2D (TF2D ??) and Manila 3D (TF3D ??)..

Is there any kindly expert mind who can explain me, please?

also Manila2D Runs on devices with QVGA screens and TOuchflo3D runs on devices with larger screens, VGA i believe.

i recommend you go to youtube and search for either one so you can actually see the difference.

I had no problems at all in the beginning, the files was named with number in witch order to install. Simple and easy to understand.

I actually managed to fix the contacts tab. Seems it only works if you add them to the cube first.

But the quick menu is still missing when Manilla2D is running.
I'm not talking about the start menu replacement QuickMenu, but the quick menu of the HTC Task manager....

With this new release i've noticed so far that my Notepad and Photo-album takes very long time to start.

The only difference i've made since the old update 19b is that i have bought a 8 GB SD card.

If i have my network connection on it can take up to some minute to start when trying to view a picture from the Photo & Video tab, or if i want to open a picture from Resco File explorer.

If i just start Photo album from programs, it starts fast as i should.

What can be the problem here?

I've tried to use an older Album from the update 19b since the new one had no zoom or rotate when i first tried it.

Is it important to follow the correct order of the files when installing?
I've had a couple of problems so i have:

Installed the complete package, then i installed the iolite and the TEST IOLITE M2D TAKE 3.cab file.
Then i removed that one and reinstalled just the herg62123_2DManila_1_20_19131530_00.cab over again without reinstalling everything from start.
Then i have removed the iolite album and installed the old album from an earlier version.

Maybe this is why i have this problems?

Can someone please tell me how to install update 23 in the right order?

Is it first Update 20, and then 21 or direct to update 23? And if so: HOW?

All files from 20, then just apply the files from iolte folder without removing anything or what?

Reinstalled everything (IOLITE) version and the other files from update 20 that did not match those in IOLITE folder :)

Everything works fine but the Footprints, it just blinks and then nothing.

I got it to work with my other install, now i can't figure out what the heck i did to get it to work. I think it was the mui files that did it the last time.

Does the new albumsearch.exe have anything to do with it?
I don't want to apply it because now my album work fine without any delay. :)

I have installed the M2D on my Kaiser and it works. But... :)

(1) I don't see any text (descriptions) like "mail", "call history", "Maps search", ....

(2) more importantly there is no possibility to klick on the bottom-keys because there are no keys. This bars me from settings for all tabs!

TouchFlo in not launching now..??The new theme may have a tab enabled that your M2D does not support. Look in the HomeSettings.xml or use M2DConfig to check which tabs are enabled.

just rename your Manila2D.exe.0409.mui in windows directory to your location code and you'll see softkeys and texts in english :) for france for exemple it is 040C

rename the m2dct to .zip : unzip , unload TouchFlo (in Today elements) and copy all into windows directory then restart touchFlo , you'll see your theme if working (if not : message : Tap here for starting (it means your HTCHomeSettings is not working) , if you have this problem copy another directory which is working or just reinstall you m2D cab to retrieve initial config (Untick TouchFlo before to be sure) 1st say yes to uninstall and the reinstall
no need to soft reset : just go to Setting and then Today / elements and Enter (the TouchFlo is ticked by the cab)



or just untick TouchFlo before running M2DC (I'm not sure , I'm not using M2DC for changing themes)

I have only 2 problems (Polaris+Manila2d update 20):
1) I can`t receive sms messages (only send)!
2) Each time after soft reset quick contacts, in People tab, is lost!

have any ideas?
