I've been trying out Quakk WM Twitter Client (http://www.anthonyburns.co.uk/blog/Quakk-Twitter-Client--New-Beta-Build)... not too bad so far, but leaving it on all day will REALLY kill ones battery.

Think of it as a blog for people who can't write.

I stand by my original assessment. It's a way to tell people how your cat's doing in 140 characters or less...and pretend they care.

Have to agree.
Watched the YouTube oh my god, like the quote "It was the real world"
Just eating a sandwitch, so interesting, so you all know :)

It can be used for such mundane comments like that. It can also be used for things like

- the U.S. citizen that quickly twittered via his phone that he was being arrested by Egyptian police. http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/04/16/twitter-saves-man-from-egyptian-justice/

- the Chinese that actually reported the earthquakes via Twitter, even before the news caught onto it. http://scobleizer.com/2008/05/12/quake-in-china/

- I hear about the latest betas and receive private invites just by asking other peers in my circle. (i.e. Evernote, Brightkite, Dropbox, etc.) - http://www.spiderbait.com/seo-expert/2008_01_11_archive.asp

- Helped a guy quickly get a number to a locksmith in Hawaii, although I live in NC.

Just google on "top twitter uses", something like that. You'll see alot of news and blog links of various ways that people use it.

Also, when I update my Twitter, it automatically goes out and updates my Facebook, YMsgr Status, Skype Status, and MSN Msgr status all at once.

Also, due to it's open API there are programmers who have been creating all sorts of mashups to work with Twitter. http://twiddeo.com , http://twittervision.com/maps/show_3d . An extensive list here. http://twitter.pbwiki.com/Apps

The only negative thing of late though is that it's so overwhelmingly popular that it has trouble keeping up with the amount of users. They just received another $15 Million in VC, so hopefully they'll use it to fix their scaling issues.

Of course convincing people that twitter is useful is like trying to convince my wife who only uses her mobile phone for making phone calls that my HTC S621 with it's Internet plus all it's other apps, bells and whistles is useful. She can't understand why I need to have access to the Internet 24x7 right by my side.

Thank you,

Tim

@tmc thanks For the info, I thought it was just used for attention whores that wants their friends to know where What and why about them like anybody really cares.

- feeding the dog then going to the grocery store
- talked to my BFF now im taking a nap
- got into a fight with mike whats wrong with him?
- board!
- eating a burritos and rice, hit me up!
- going drinking at O'mallys hit me up!
- at o'mallys drinking a spritzer

on and on and on, I have friends who are like that on myspace, they seem to update their status every 15 mins. Im sure they already know about twitter.
Maybe im just getting old to think its just retarded haha.

I have been using Twikini (http://www.trinketsoftware.com/Twikini/)for the past couple of months, it has been working awesome. Fast, very low memory usage, multiple accounts, etc. It is not free, but $4.95 is cheap, plus you can get an additional program from them included in the price. I bought Twikini (http://www.trinketsoftware.com/Twikini/)and No Calls (http://www.trinketsoftware.com/NoCalls/), their call filtering software, also works like a charm.
