Ive installed S2U2 yesterday but haven't run IGO8 yet, so will do it now and post my findings in a bit.

Ok had it running for ten minutes now and has been fine?
i have got S2U2 setup so that it only comes on when the device is in standby and with IGO8 keeping the phone on it doesn't even start S2U2.

Yeah,

installed IGO8 too, our 200MHZ TIO OMAP Processor is still fast enough ;)
Maybe in future it will be too slow when 3D graphices are real to life, or like TomTom Navcore 8 (not for pda's). Tomtoms graphics are like a 80's computergame :)

My father in law still prefers tomtom (very user friendly) even with the 'easy mode' in IGO8.
I still have to test it passing monuments to see the better graphics, but runs smoothly, you can see that they worked on this one.

Any other competitive packages with great graphics ? (tested Destinator & Route 66 already in past). Maybe TomTom Navigator 7 will have better 3D graphics, any news ???

Thanks,

I 'm using iGO8 full with 3d elevations, custom pois etc. Works fine on artemis with Vanilla 4.1 (not touch).
Problems (2) that I mention is:
1. it needs at least 16 MB ram free
2. when I press the call button to make a phone call during navigation, dialpad screen is a mess and no call can be made.

Waiting for a better Greek map because building numbers is totally wrong.
Fantastic piece of software.

i also used the igo8. but as i made any turn it ran back in 2d modus. so i went looking for other navi software. tomtom i had for a very long time, but when i wanted to go to croatia for vacantion, i had to switch between 2 maps. western eu and eastern eu. now i use navigon, very convinced that this is really good. had no problems what so ever on the way to and back from croatia. fast and very good working for me.

Hey i've tested it too ... first I had the "not enough memory" error, now I use filesystem cache 125 kb so it starts at least ...
but if I want to plan a long route the error message of iGO appears: "Not enough Memory, use different parameters"

I've got 27,6 mb free program memory (Meschles Artemis Touch 4.02 Vanilla) ... whats the problem, any of you got an idea???

I think in general Artemis isn't really fitting the performance specifications for iGO 8.

iGo 8 runs perfect for me. Overclocked to 273Mhz, the 900km test today was absolutely smooth and fast! Even with 200kph and more, my orbit was still fast enough to handle everything. TomTom is still installed, we'll see how long :D

How overclock to 273 Mhz in fact?
I got another question too.
I have tested Igo 8 and I got a red message, saying "out of memory" but Igo was able to run and I could use it a few times before having this message.
I got the latest Tom's rom, and only IGO was running.

how much did you have free ram? (hibernate.exe - program free up memory),

I've got the Oops Black 1.0 Rom and a lot of installed Programs (TomTom, iGo8,FtouchSL,HTCActionScreen,Opera,SPB BrainEvo,TodayAgenda,BatteryStatusExtended) and still about 26,5mb free after reboot+hibernate. Overclocked with BatStatExt, runs perfect! Smooth, fast. I luv it =)

Vmax on highway was 257kph and iGo ran perfect! No stuttering etc.

Anyway, I got another problem with IGO.
The time always changes into the program and changes the time too into the rom.
For example, it is 03:17 Pm in France.
In IGO, "settings", "regional", I choose "French" and in the settings, Y can see that it is parameted for London, Dublin...
I have changed that before, but it is still coming back again...
I choosed to activate the "automatic meantime" but it seems to not work..
And when I am back on my rom, I see that it's not 03:17 Pm but 02:17 pm...

Any answers for this, please?

I was wondering if any of you guys had the same happen to you. On my device iGo randomly switches from the 3D view to 2D view. It doesn't happen too often but is quite annoying when I'm on a busy street..

I also must say, that it runs like a charm on my HTC 4350 (200mhz).

This is a common problem with iGo8. It has something to do with your outlook contacts. If you have added adresses to you contacts, then igo imports these contacts. This is what (most of the times) causes the 'out of memory' error. Keep in mind that this is not always causing the problem. I personally had no adresses added to my contact information but still had the error.

There are two things you can do.
1) remove all the adresses
2) install a newer iGo8 version (that's at least what solved the 'out of memory' problem on my P3300) The newer version has an option to enable or disable importing the outlook contacts into the program. (at least that's what I think. Can't remember seeing the option in the previous version which caused the memory problems).

LOL!!!! This is just a feature on the iGo. When you must drive more then 3km on the same road (default) it switches to 2D. You can turn this of or change the distance from 3 to whatever you want. Just browse your settings.

This is a known bug in iGo. You can change this somehow, by editing some files. I don't exactly know how, use google to find the awnser.

I have a problem with iGo8 on my XDA orbit. Oop's Black Radio 3.07.90

After I start the program everything is cool, but no signal from sattelites, cannot make a route there is some notification that maps are not connected or something (I am using serbian language, so I am not 100% sure what it says.)

you need to go into the options and hit the gps part there, then it will auto seek for your build in gps device and find it, takes 5 to 30 seconds before it finds all

once it's ready it will give signal and a message that it found the gps device

Well if there's a report about the maps, then you do not have the right maps or the right license (maybe you're using an old license and new maps?)

Just thaught i'd add into this little conversation...

I've got iGo 8 running with the Black & Blue 5 rom (WM6.1)

I've got ~30MB free after hibernate, a 260MHz overclock, and all runs incredibly smoothly. Updates to the screen are smooth and without glitches. I'm using the UK map with the POI and other things like custom favourites displayed ont he screen.. Route planning is very fast compared to TomTom 7 (Which I also have installed).

I would urge everyone to try out iGo 8 if they can get hold of it, and a map for their area. One thing's for sure, i'm not keeping TomTom7 when I go to spain in the next few weeks...

I am not trying to get out of paying for the software. I want to buy it, but then get it to run from an 8 gb sdhc card (which I am already using).

Any pointers would be useful. If I can't do this the programme is no use to me - can't have just one application monopolising the memory on my device.

I have got Igo8 installed on my orbit with touch 4.02 rom (full no cube), and have to say it is impressive. It runs well, reacts quickly, etc etc.

But - and it's a big But.........

At roundabouts Igo gives you a 'left', 'straight on', 'right' or 'turn back' direction as well as which number exit to take. This is useful as a general guide.

What I am finding is that it gives the wrong direction! The graphics and the exit number (1st, second, third etc) are correct, but the other roundabout directions are as follows:

For turn left it says turn left - perfect!
for straight on it says turn right.
for turn right it says turn back.
for turn back it says turn left.

I have tried reinstalling it (several times)
I have tried disabling HTC Home, as it has been suggested that this can cause glitches.
I have tried changing to touch vanilla 4.02 rom, to minimise application clashes.
None of this has worked.

Has anyone else had this problem?? If so how did you get over it?

If it is my choice of rom I am happy to change - perhaps backtrack from WM6.1 to 6.0?? Willing to try anything.

Hi

hi, this sounds to me like it would be related to the application and not the ROM or anything related to plugins etc. First thing is to check the skin you are using in igo8, perhaps the skin has a bug. For example I am using Igo8-ultra skin 3.0 kate and am having no problems. If you do a search for igo8 blog you will find lots of skins to download for igo8. If you have no joy with this perhaps you just drop the details of igo in your next post e.g. im using 8.0.0.41506, uk maps 2008.01 [080313].

Good luck!

Help again.

I've now tried three different releases of IGO8, with various downloads of UK maps, combined with different roms (touch 4.02, vanilla, even O2 official wm6.0), and still get the same problem described above re directions at roundabouts.

It seems to only happen at big roundabouts, such as motorway junctions. Apart from this it works perfectly every time - it is a brilliant package.

Please - anyone who uses IGO8 on an artemis (or orbit in my case) - do you get this problem?

I could just ignore the 'right/straight on' etc instructions - most satnavs don't have them - you just rely on the graphic and the exit number, but it would be better to get it working fully.

Ideas anyone??

I noticed that when I use IGO8 on my HTC P3300, the phone is not ringing when there is an incoming call. I confirm that I have set the ringing sound on.

I believe this is because IGO8 used so much resources and memory that it cann't do other job. I also notice that the phone will ring for following incoming call but lagging a few second.

Any body with same experience and any guide on how to resolve this. I had over clock my HTC P3300 to 247 MHz and I am using B&B ver 5.0 ROM.

Hi,

If you want the maximum out of your P3300 (soft like IGO8) i suggest to flash to Yue's WM6.1 4.4 Lite rom, you can find the link in the forum.

It's better the most Ram & Storage free, then you can add your own applications.
Most cooked roms have too much useless stuff that makes your P3300 too heavy..

I am trying to use Igo as well. It looks great. It is running. But I am having big trouble with it.

At certain points it gives a 'fatal error' and it crashes. It is at certain points on the map. I can even reproduce them with simulation mode. It is espacially in Germany, when taking exits and going from one highway to another. Try for example highways in the busy Ruhr-area. Driving from Düsseldorf to Arnheim (the Netherlands). When taking the exit at Oberhausen to Arnheim, Igo crashes with a fatal error.

This behaviour makes it impossible for me to use Igo for daily navigation.

Is there nobody with the same problems? Is it maybe rom-related? I am using Tom's latest Oops black WWE rom.

Ok, I deleted everything in my IGO8/SAVE folder on the SD-card. You lose almost every setting you made in IGO. But, the great advantage is that I got rid of the fatal errors. At least, up to now, I did not have any fatal error.

HI,

I have the following Problem. I could use IGO8 on my Artemis with a 2GB microSD.
Now I bought a 4GB microSDHC and it will crash at "init api".
Ok, I thought first IGO may have a Problem with SDHC but on my Touch Cruise it's working with the same microSDHC

I tested under the following conditions with cleared SAVE folder:

Artemis -- 2GB microSD (without SDHC Drivers) = WORKING
Artemis -- 2GB microSD (with SDHC Drivers) = not working
Artemis -- 4GB microSDHC = not working
Touch Cruise -- 2GB microSD = WORKING
Touch Cruise -- 4GB microSDHC = WORKING

on Artemis I use Black n Blue 4.2 Rom and on Touch Cruise HTC WM6.0
hope someone can help me to get it running on Artemis.
