Switched my phone on this morning and have acquired a couple of issues:

1) When I slide the keyboard out, it doesn't [auto] rotate the screen any more!

2) A short press of the power button no longer puts the phone in standby.

Phone is a vanilla HTC Kaiser, running an elderly ROM 1.56.405.5 . I haven't installed any software or changed any settings (AFAIK) immediately prior to the fault.

Is this likely to be a hardware fault with the phone that will require a warranty repair. Or is this a symptom of a software / setting issue?

TIA - Rufus.

To find out if its software related, u have to hardreset or maybe flash another rom.

Looks like it may have been a software / settings issue. Was getting a few error messages about missing components / lack of memory when launching applications. Despite having 30MB+ showing in System Info.

A hard reset, followed by an install of the 6.1 firmware and normal service is resumed.

Note to self - check Outlook trial hasn't expired on laptop BEFORE hard-resetting and expecting to restore contacts again! Doh!

Thanks.
