Hello all i am new to the sight and to "smartphones" and im thinking about getting the Att tilt. But i have heard mixed reviews on the phone most dealing with battery life and other issues. I also am curious about the touch flo and how to make my screen look like an iphone but i have no idea how to do any of this stuff. So what im looking for is pros and cons about the phone and the best add ons to put on the phone. Please help me im a noob when dealing with smartphones/pda's :( and i NEED guidance.

sweet. Let me guide you right on up to the search function, right up there ^..
Or use either of the 2 linkings in my signature.
And as to why you should get a tilt, it's simple. Because you want one.

You should not buy a Tilt. You should not buy an iPhone. You should get a tin can and a string.
Rule #1, do not start meaningless threads, especially ones that have been hashed out 1,000 times already. Instead, search and then reply to someone elses "should I get a Tilt or iPhone" thread.

Oh then maybe he can wait a little while (say 12 hours) to see if the Iphone2 is coming out.
DOH, still no keyboard or tilt function, which is Uber duber.

I know for a fact after having my Tilt for the last few months, my next device will have a h/w kb as well.

I love how one asks a simple question and the rest of the community flames him. These are the types of answers that draws people away. You never know. That one person who you all are beeing so harsh on, might actually be the one to come out with real drivers for the tilt... Doesn't hurt to imagine....
Anyway to his answer: If you live in the USA then I would recommend the tilt. I personally find it the best phone out here but its not reccommended for the average user. The tilt does have a lot of problems though. One of the most noticable one is the camera, which moves tremendesly slow in low light condition but is real good if you have good lighting in your area.
Or you can wait till the new Xperia, Touch Pro to come to the US (which is what I'm doing, and yes I own a Tilt)

Correction: the camera is = to shit with low light. My friends old ass nokia phone from 1943 took a clear cripst picture with low light vs. my "high tech" tilt in the same light. In fact, the picture didn't even exist cause it couldn't autofocus!

I also highly recommend the device. It's pros definitely outweigh its cons. Yes, as said before, the camera isn't good at all with low light. Touchflo just lets you scroll using your fingers and right now it went commercial to FtouchSL. If you want your device to look like the iPhone, look into iFonz.

Hi everyone. Should I get a Tilt, iPhone or pre paid? I like the tilt but can I get a Tilt on prepaid? My brothers friend has a cell phone and I like the way he uses it so I want a phone too. If I get a Tilt, can I flash it? If so, how do I do that?

But I am worried that my phone will be a brick. Can I send it to you in postal mail and have you do it so that it is fine?

you can send you phone to me, i'll flash whatever rom you want.
as far as the op trying to decide whether or not to get a tilt, i love my tilt, in fact i had an issue with it and when att offered me a "better" phone of comperable value(iphone and treo 750) as a replacement, i laughed and told them that if they ever insulted Lucy(my phone) again like that i would switch to t-mobile to get the front facing camera. as long as you have att you will be dissatisfied with them, but the tilt kicks ass. most people look at it and laugh when i tilt the screen up but when you use a phone that can't do that after three months with the tilt it almost hurts inside.
then again it's all a matter of preference, much more freedom with the tilt than the iphone, and if you really want the phone to look like the iphone, REALLY REALLY bad then clilck the link in my sig(my files) and it'll take you to the place to get the home screen and some decent apps to be more iphone-ish. best of luck hope you choose wisely

So I was out the other day shopping for a new Nikon D60, because I wanted to take clear sharp pictures in low light.
Would you believe this piece of crap? It couldn't even make a decent phone call. As a matter of fact, I don't think it had a phone at all.
My cheap ass Nextel, could at least make a decent phone call. What's up with that? I paid a s**tload of money for this camera

I just love these threads. Why should I buy "x"? The UTLIMATE reason to buy ANYTHING is because "YOU WANT TO!"
If you look at the specs and it doesn't give you a boner, then you probably will not be satisfied with it. But if looking at the specs gets you excited, then you should buy it.
Anything Chumley, Myself, or anyone else says is secondary. Only you can look at something and know that is what you want.

:p My first post...
I got a tilt a week ago - always was a big fan of HTC phones to start with. It's my first post here because I've been READING a lot on this site before making a decision. This phone has been out for over 8 months, a lot of people have already asked the questions you might have regarding this particular phone or on different models of smartphones/PDA phones out on the market at this time (you even have discussions and the possibility to view phone specs for phones not out yet on www.pdadb.net !)
Please use the SEARCH option of the forum with basic keywords to see what other members answers are so far...
I can only make 1 recommendation: do not start tweeking your device/change ROM/install hazardous stuff, once you receive it - wait at least a full couple of days of use to make sure everything is working fine: you don't want to have to re-do everything if the unit needs to be sent back due to unforseen reasons requiring a warranty exchange!
I hope you'll opt for a Tilt and enlarge this community with your insights once you've mastered the device.
Good luck! :p

Was getting it for my wife, ended up getting a D40. Not as expensive, takes kick ass pictures, but when you try to call someone, all you get is silence on the other end,
Really disappointed.

dont get a Tilt....
after trying out both the Tilt and the Iphone.. .clearly the Iphone is much better... the screen on Iphone is so clear, it looks amazing.
the touchscreen on the Iphone, superb... The tilts touchscreen is so stupid.. u have to really press on it hard to do anything. unless u use that stylus.
the battery life is ofcourse terrible on the Tilt.
im using Dutty's rom and this is supposed to be one of the best. so if this is the best, i cant imagine what the stock rom would be like...
also the camera on the Tilt, is the worst 3mp camera i have ever seen... u have to hold it soo still otherwise everything comes blurry.
go with iphone, u cant go wrong. good luck.
