CID Unlock

Hi!
I am new to Qtek 8500.So i would like to upgrade to WM6.1 and i read about the CID Unlock and may sound stupid but i still do not know if there is any way to know if a phone is CID locked or not!So i would like to know if there is any way to know if a phone is or not CID locked!This would make someone(ME:D) happy because i would be a step closer to a successfull upgrade!

just try to flash Cingular 3125 or i-mate Smartflip firmware
if it will stop flashing on 5% then you have a CID locked device

will the phone work after?
