.NET cf 3.5 is already included in 3.1.2. No need to install it. Probably why you're getting error messages.

I found this on MSDN forum and it worked for me.

Problem solution:

Giving the installation error:

"Installation error. Stop all applications and processes, maximize available storage space, and run installation again. Support info: 3"

Solution:
1. download mobile registry editor
2. delete entry \local machine\software\microsoft\netcompactframework (delete all of it)
3. re-install net compact framework 3.5

I don't know what the problem was on your phones....maybe a bad flash...

3.1.2 has cf 3.5. It's located in the SYS folder of your kitchen in a directory called NetCF35 and gets cooked in.

Does 3.5 contain everything that 2.0 has? Meaning will programs running with 2.0 work the same with 3.5?

or by changing the DWORD Value! NET CF 2.0 to replace its dword value to = 0, whereas NET CF 3.5 dword value = 1
