View Full Version : Vibration alert doesn't stop and audio breaks after a2dp.

Just as the title states... ie: I get an sms or email alert and the vibe just keeps on going until I goto volume silence then I can reactivate the volume.
I use ring and vibrate together for all alerts.
Anyone else have feed back with this or a similar problem?
*edit*
So I have done some testing and would like if someone else who uses a bluetooth headset to listen to music could try using BT a few times turning it off and on (when on use the htc media player) and see if after receiving a text message or email if your audio fires properly and your vibe stops. I have not used the BT all day today and the vibe/ring has performed perfectly. Basically after using BT a soft reset is in order.

Are you using any of the phone profile software such as SPB Phone Suite, Phone Weaver, Phone Alarm or the like? I had this issue occur when using Phone Suite and it was resolved when i de-installed the software.

I had same problem. I got mail and the vibration didn't stop. I don't use any profile manager. But I had same problem with Cruise with Wm6.1.

No profile managers at all. I have had this happen once before with an asus p527.
I have since done a hard reset on my diamond, we'll see how it goes. I did the reset because initially I've done alot of playing around testing apps and hacks to see what works best, I have re installed the apps I know work and have done. very little tweaking... Fingers crossed.

@thebiker
Do you use Bluetooth Audio for music or voice calls?
I think I have narrowed the problem down to this for myself.
I use my jabra 320 to listen to music on my way to work, after disconnecting the problems begin, vibrate doesn't want to stop and the ring doesn't want to work. A quick soft reset and everything appears to be good until I use my BT Headset again. Are you able to see a similar trend as I am? As I mentioned already I had this issue with my Asus so maybe there is a problem in general with Microsoft's BT Stack when using it with a2dp and in general derails audio on the system. My thinking is the audio is actually what is stopping on me so the Vib doesn't have the audio to tell it when to stop.
Thoughts on this matter anyone?

Bump... added some info to the first post and modified topic slightly, to more acurately describe my newer findings.
If someone using BT can try what is in the first post... thank you.

I have the Jabra BT620s headset and have the same problem. I can listen music and when a call comes in I can answer it and people hear me.
When I disconnect the headset i don't get any sound. Need to do a soft reset to get sound back on my phone. So no rings or sounds untill a soft reset is performed.
Stupid bluetooth... Anyone with a fix?

I can't find anyway other then soft reset. If you look at the volume after disconnecting a headset it sets the volume to 0.
I also have this issue on a tilt running winmo 6.1 and Microsoft BT Stack. So I believe it is a MS Operating/BT Stack issue.

I encounter this problem when receiving voice calls. No sound and neverending vibrate. Also, on several occasions the sound disappeared during the conversation. Only a soft reset could bring it back. The volume showed just good values, so it wasn't a spontanious mute.
I don't use a BT headset, never did. In fact BT isn't enabled at all. I did change the ringtype to ring and vibrate, perhaps thats the trigger. I changed back to default ringtone setting, lets see what happens.
I hope this will be solved quickly, it makes my Diamond a bit unusable as a phone...

Interesting results... I can so far state that so long as I reset after using BT Headset I don't experience this problem. There maybe more pointing to a bad audio driver in general that BT causes to crash immediately and potentially regular use like you have may also cause it to go loopy, might be a specific app and the way it interfaces with the audio api.

The only app I installed afterward is TomTom Nav6. But I remember the problem happend before installing this app as well. I made several hard resets but no change. Perhaps I try once more, don't change any setting and keep it clean for some days.

Mines even worse. My phone just loses audio altogether after a period of time. I am not using BT, havent even setup a headset for use yet. MP3 plays but no sound. SMS no sound. System Event no sounds. Incoming call ringtone doesnt play. Call conversation i get no sound. I can't figure what triggers it. Phone can just be in sleep mode, i receive a phone call and no ring. Even adjust the volume sliders and then it will lose audio straight away.
Another strange audio issue i have is the Alarm doesnt work. Alarm will start to play but then device will freeze after 1 second of trying to play the alarm tone. Soft reset is the only way to fix it, after which it will lose audio again after a while. Have already done numerous hard resets and run a clean device with no programs or tweaks applied. I can put up with a laggy interface but no audio renders the phone a brick! Please help!

Got the same problem with my phone. After a while (can be seconds, or even minutes) i lose all of my audio. I discoverd my problem when i tried to play some tunes with the HTC player. It started, but after 5/10/20 seconds there was no audio. And now it's everywhere! (i tried to test it , so i turn on the screen taps. )!
* I flashed my firmware to the english 1.37.707.1 . i reckon that i've lost my warranty , right? ..

I also just lost all my sound. Missed 3 important calls - in the end a friend drove round to get in contact. Continuous vibrate as others have seen. So now I can't even trust the wretched thing to ring...
I have the latest ROM fitted from factory and don't have any extra apps installed - nor do i use Bluetooth.
I'll add this problem to the massive memory leak, awful battery life (less than 9 hrs today before it warned me of data loss and switched off), audio jerking every other song, loss of all bass after using Audio booster, slow jerky interface... etc...
This really is an appalling phone.
After many happy years with HTC devices I can only say to potential buyers of this one, please don't.

yes, i do. when you bring back the windows default volume control. you can see ther have two control and one is for "PDA" and one is for "PHONE". and the "PHONE" one is set to zero. so doesn't matter how you adjust your volume you've got nothing.

The htc volume control also gives you both system and ring (use upper arrow to switch left or right from one to the other)... unfortunately disabling htc's volume control doesn't stop the audio crash a reboot is still required.

Maybe this is not a solution for Diamond. but works for me. connected to my iTech clip 35 and played audio for about hour and dissconnect it, got a phone call, it rings. i have 1.37.707.1 rom
however I found this:
If ring type in Setting/Phone is set to “ring”. The volume control needs to set to ON and if use down arrow key to change to Vibrate, the phone will not ring and vibrate, though the icon is showing on vibration.
If ring type in Setting/Phone is set to “vibrate”. The phone will always vibrate doesn’t matter how I change the setting to ON or Vibrate by using the arrow key, though the icon is showing on ring.

Hi Folks,
I communicated with HTC Support under Activity ID 08SGCW29ENA000049, and they feedback that they had send this issue to the relavent department. But the thread ends at there. :(
So far has anyone been able to nail down on the procedure to recreate the problem 100% of the time?
Cheers.

I had a similar proble.where there was no ringtone sounds for incoming calls. After 2 hrs of search on some forums, i resolved mine.
Solution credit goes the guy who posted this on one of the threads :
In the TouchFlow 3D home screen "slide" to the Settings tab, the click on "Sound". At the bottom of the screen there is a volume control. It is probably set to "0" since you get no ring signal. Change it to 80% or something

Thanks NinthSense, :)
But this ain't the same problem. :( But thanks anyway. :)
In our case, the ring and system volume isn't at 0. This problem will kick in eventually after you disconnect from a Bluetooth device. But not always; there had been 1 incident where I can't reproduce the problem after a disconnection.
Cheers.

1.93.401.2 WWE
Radio 1.00.25.05
I can use my bt headset in a normal way. After disconnecting I can receive phone calls in a normal way. This means rings and sound.
In my previous rom, see my previous posts this was not possible.
To this ROM is for me an improvement.

It appears that this problem is, generally, fixed in ROM 1.93.
However, having state so, I need to report that this problem surfaced once when the Bluetooth connection between my headset and Diamond disconnected due to distance.
Otherwise, so far so good. :D

I have same problem with stock 1.93 WWE rom, radio .05. When someone tryies just short ring, there is no sound, phone is vibrating all the time, screen is frozen and what helps is just to detach the battery from phone. I have never used BT with this device, and what is strange it is doing just between 09-11PM and just from one person...have no idea what could cause this
