Did you flash the leaked Sprint rom to get the radio?

Sounds like you let the Sprint customizations run.

Go into Device Information under Settings and read me what it says for PRI Version and PRL Version.

That's your problem. You let the Sprint customizations run and have the Sprint PRI on your phone.

The ONLY fix for this (and still hasn't been proven to fix 100% of the time) is to relock the phone and flash back to stock rom/radio. This will revert your PRI back to Verizon. Once you've finished with that, you also will most likely have to call Verizon and have them issue you a DMU reset, as the Sprint PRI has probably screwed your DMU public key.

Flash back to stock rom/radio, then post back with your PRL version and PRI version.

That you did a hard reset after the phone crashed and it gives the message that it can't authenticate the phone. Do not call #8899 or whatever (I question what that department really does), just call 611 and go to tech support and play dumb and they will get you provisioned.

You may just be better to relock and reload stock rom then 228, or did you do that already? If you are at stock rom and authenticate, you may need to do it again after flashing radio FYI.

When you allowed the sprint customizations to run, you probably caused some problems that can only be fixed by verizon at this point. You will likely need them to reset your akey and reprovision you on the network. Give 611 a call and tell them that you did a hard reset and get that message.

just re-*228'd and its good to go. Phone programmed and roaming capabilities updated. No longer showing the Roaming Icon. so now i guess i need to "rehack this puppy" so what did i do wrong when installing the Radio?

You need to stop at the screen where it says tap to continue. Don't tap.

Instead, force bootloader (power + camera + reset) and load .nbh custom rom by SD, or ensure Activesync is connected (still without tapping :o) and flash custom Rom by .exe.

Yeah, If your on Verizon or other non-Sprint network, don't listen to those people who say to let the Sprint stuff run ... you will likely jack your phone up. It is possible to really cause problems that are difficult to flash out (trust me)

When you reset your phone, you lose authentication and need to be reprovisioned to work on the network. You may be able to get there with login settings from here, but a call to Verizon and/or a reflash may be a reality at this point.

Serf it has nothing to do with that. It's probably his DMU public key like I said above.

Dial ##778 and then press send. Press Edit, then enter 000000 for unlock code.

Click on View Info, navigate to M.IP Default Profile, and tell me if the values for HA Shared Secret and AAA Shared Secret are blank.

Click on View Info, navigate to Security, and tell me if the values for HDR AN AUTH Password and PPP Password are blank.

For anyone else reading this...it causes SERIOUS problems if you let the Sprint customizations run and you're not a Sprint customer. PLEASE be careful if you're using the Sprint roms to get your radio.

So that being the case, is there a way to repair this without Verizon's help? Is this tool for that? I found it on PPC geeks in this thread (http://67.228.199.237/forum.ppcgeeks/showthread.php?t=26327) or this one (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=310221) somewhere.

There is only one way to repair it without calling Verizon and it requires Service Programming using QPST. It also does not work 100% of the time.

The cab you posted is what reverts you back to Verizon's PRI and runs during customizations after you flash the Verizon stock rom (hence why I told him to reflash to stock, and it fixed the PRI). It doesn't work if you just run the cab, as it requires a parameter when you run the refurbish executable.

His issue is the DMU public key not writing his encrypted shared secret values and encrypted password values to authenticate him on Verizon's network. Like I said, there are two options to fix the DMU key. One is to use QPST and try and repair it manually, which requires you to know what you're doing as you can seriously hose your phone. The other is to call Verizon and have them issue you an OTA DMU reset. The former doesn't work 100% of the time, the latter works 100% of the time as long as the technician does it right. Also, if you don't specify to them that you NEED a DMU reset, most likely they won't know what the problem is and won't even think that it's a DMU issue.

There's a third alternative and that's to just flash back to stock rom/radio, call Verizon and play dumb, go through all the troubleshoot steps as they try and fix your data, and have them send you a new phone.

Thanks, your answer gets to the root of why many of these upgrades fail for so many people on verizon or non-sprint networks. If other values are corrupted, relocking and loading stock rom fixes it. If these values are corrupted, the phone is doo doo.

Are there any other files that are difficult or impossible to fix with a restore?
