I decided to create a new thread because I don't think many people read the GPS sticky.

FOR SPRINT USERS:

1. Update to latest rom/radio. (Sprint carrier cab still REQUIRED)

2. Install signed_080516_7500_SPCS_2.04.sa.cab

3. Navigate to \Windows and run PPST.exe. Proceed with the update and let the phone reset.

4. To check if it was successful, go to Settings and under Device Information make sure PRI version is 2.04_003.

You should all get GPS locks within seconds with any software.

THIS IS FOR SPRINT ONLY. DO NOT RUN THIS UPDATE ON ANY OTHER CARRIER OR IT WILL SCREW IT UP.

I am not responsible for anything you do to your device.

wasn't there a reason why we weren't supposed to have a PRI above 1.x? otherwise i'm trying it now, i reflashed to have a clean start.

it did nothing, just downgraded my PRL to 05xxx, which ended up making me go into digital roaming.

Are you sure you aren't missing something else?

weird, that cab does have an old PRL inside.
try this one. and dont forget to run \windows\ppst.exe afterwards.

Not sure why, that cab is straight from the sprint customizations. Either way, updated first post.

Friendly Advisor Notice

People who haven't done this yet, should do so NOW. i get a lock on an average of 15 seconds from cold start, yes... COLD START!

And i get a lock on 9 Satellites INSIDE MY HOUSE. I can only imagine how much faster it would be outside! Cant wait for my 4GB MicroSD Card, so i can load up that TomTom software!

Before, i would get locks in around 2-4 minutes, and i would only lock to as many as 3-4 satellites.

NEW Also this well make your PRL version go to 60612, while this may be recommended, it didn't really help me much in my area, it wouldn't give me optimum EVDO coverage at all.

So be sure to check which PRL works for you, in my case 60711 was a great help.

To update your PRL, dial ##775#. Enter your MSL Code... then update your PRL by browsing the downloaded PRL File, provided by the site i gave you. Goodluck!

Haha I'm glad you're happy since updating. I don't understand why Sprint users who complain about slow GPS and have read this post haven't done it yet.

Always go with the latest available PRL as it updates your roaming capabilities. The only reason this update installs the older PRL is because at the time this PRI update was made available, 60612 was the latest PRL. I'm going to update the first post and include the latest PRL.

Yes and no. Data cards get updated to 60711, but it is also compatible with phones.

4. To check if it was successful, go to Settings and under Device Information make sure PRI version is 2.03_003.

5. This PRI update installs the PRL that was the latest at the time. Dial ##775# and enter your MSL (which can be generated from your hex ESN using GetSPC) and update your PRL to the one I've attached.

You should all get GPS locks within seconds with any software. (Keep GPSMode set to 2, NOT 4 in the registry)

A fix for other carriers is being worked on and tested. Once it's validated, a WIKI page will be published with step by step instructions.

i am on cricket, i have an alltel 6800 though, so I am not using either, would it be bad to use this or even beneficial? I can go back and load the cricket PRL

i just want to check back in and say that this works really well. my mogul gets a fix in no time. i dont know why this thread isn't 10 pages long with all the trouble we've had with GPS in the past. what does this do specificly that makes my mogul get 6 satellites WHILE INSIDE. is it new drivers, reg tweeks, something else? i'd love to know. i'd also would love to know if this would work on my wife's sprint touch. i might just test it out on her phone anyway if i don't get an answer here. thanks again for this fix.

here is a bump for this thread!

this worked like a charm on my mogul....i now can see lots more sats than before...i'm currently running no2chem's 3.49 kitchen

this should be stickied for the sprint users

I'm on the iphone dialer and ##775 doesnt do anything (neitehr does ##775#).

Is there another way into the PRL updater?

I followed the instruction to update from PRI version 2.00_003 to PRI version 2.03_003.

I didnt see the difference. I was getting 8-9 sats in about 8 to 10 secs before... and now its the same... Im in south florida so I dont know if location has anything to do with it...

I'm pretty sure mine was 1.03_033 or something like that, which might be why I'm experiencing a big difference and you're not. before i normally wouldnt even get 8 sats, now i can see 11 with no problems

i went from 1.24 with dcd 3.01 to 2.03 with dcd 3.16.....

freakin amazing. i could be outside in the middle of a field and it took 3-5 minutes for a lock. Tonight i was in my hotel room, in the middle of the room, and got 8 satelites within 5 seconds.

Yeah this fix is intended for Sprint customers still using PRI Version 1.03_033. They should go from hardly being able to get a lock (like other carriers) to instant locks within seconds.

I personally use cricket service and have used a sprint mogul with a sprint PRI and cricket PRL now. I used this to update the sprint PRI to help with GPS fixes and then I went back to my cricket PRL. Now however the NAM1 wont work(phone stays silent and service fluctuates) while nam 2 works fine. What could cause it?

i have flash sprint and alltel 3.35 ship roms and let customizations run as well as sprint 3.49, same same and same........whast going on, i dont think its the pri....does the cab change anything else?

Just wanted to say thanks, I just did the fix on my Sprint Mogul, so far so good! Although it has always been stellar when it came to GPS, since I last updated it would just stop working after some time, hopefully this did the trick! I will know in a few hours. Also, on the Corolada PRL Page you linked to, it says "EvDO w/ Data Triangle:" for 60711, just wondering what that means?

I'm still on dcd 3.1.6, so if I flash with dcd 3.2.0 will it update that automatically?

I flashed to DCD 3.20 yesterday and still have 2.03_003. I did flash back to Sprint 3.56, but your PRI should carry forward... unless Sprint overwrote mine somehow.

Is that really what means? LOL. I HATE that blue triangle. It's so ugly! :p

However, I seem to have that triangle whether I'm on a 607** or 606** PRL.

How did you upgrade? Did you flash the official 3.56 ROM and then install dcd 3.2.0 on top? I flashed the 3.42 radio by itself, and then dcd 3.2.0 on top. I'd like to know if we did things differently.

i updated the PRI but now when i try to log on to sprint tv or the web or navi it says it cant connect. i noticed in the device information that my ESN and current username changed. Anyone know anything about this?

i dont know what was going on i reset it back to the 2.03 and it worked. and then i updated it to the 2.04 and its still working.

ok it was working fine for awhile but now its not locking on as fast and not connecting to sprint again. anyone have any idea?

After I upgraded to 2.04_003, I noticed that my GPS would only connect soon after a soft-reset. I waited a couple days, and it didn't improve. So I just reflash the 3.42.30 radio and everything started working great again. My ESN never changed though, so I don't know what's going on with you.

Just curious...

I have a friend who recently flashed to the new Touch/Vogue Rom from Sprint on his Sprint Handset.

Would this fix for the Mogul/Titan also improve the GPS on the Vogue/Touch?

Or is this Titan/Mogul only?
