I read somewhere in the net, that you might have problems with some of the HTC devices. Can you please confirm, that:
a) with this remote attached, the screen turns off (save battery time)
- I read, this is not the case
b) the screen will always turn on as soon you press any key (even in you pocket)
c) works perfectly with the Diamond
Thanks in advance

RC E100 plugged without any driver or software added - screen turned off
- by pressing Play, it plays the music and the screen stays turned off
- by pressing next-previous, it changes the song and the screen stays turned off
- by controlling the volume (buttons at the bottom) it changes Volume and the screen stays turned off
the only buttons that turns on the screen are the one for phone calls.

How about the sound quality, is it better than the ones that come in the box?
I had a P1i before, and I planning to buy the RC E100 and use the intra speakers from the hpm-75:

Has anyone tried the same? Do you think I'll get the same sound quality as my SE phone, which was much better?

Haha yes, I probably have the only diamond in the region :)
So you use your sony headset with an adaptor, can you compare with the crappy htc one?
Other question: I found the volume really too loud, I usually listen to music at work, and even with 1 volume bar (hard to set with the finger by the way), I think it's too strong. Does the minimal volume change with other handsets?

When I say "crappy" I mean
- no bass
- bad "isolation" (everyone around can hear what you're listening)
It's about the headset that comes in the box, don't know about the RC E100, anyway I will use the RCE100 remote with the HPM-75 intras, the lenght of the wire will be perfect

Has anyone has tried the RC E100 with a hermes?
What other devices (besides the Tytyn II and Diamond) can confirm?
Does anyone know the difference between the two (RC E100 and RC W100)?
I tried the RC W100 with my hermes ( with a few different ROMs) with no luck...
Is it true you can only control audio manager and WMP?
Can anyone look over the "driver cab" to see if other players might be possible?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Guys,
Can someone, anyone, please confirm the difference between using the supplied headphones that come with the HRC diamond which are
a) bass-less (and I already know about the Audio booster bug - I mean they still dont have much bass when you have worked around that bug)
b) not isolated well (as pointed out above)
and compare with using a decent set of 3.5mm headphones that are connected with the RC E100 or with one of those USB to 3.5mm adapters that you can get from ebay.
Does better headphones = lots more bass? The supplied headphones just don't seem to push out much but I wonder how much of a role the actual diamond plays in this....
Thanks in advance to anyone who can confirm this.

Iīm a little bit confused, Iīm looking for a shop to buy it from and some shops add "black" in their descriptions and some pics show a darker version from the RC E100?! Is it only because thei mean the earpieces are black and some of the pic are so crappy that it only seems to be a black frontplate?!
Does anyone knows if there are really two versions?

So - finally got my RC E100 as well. Works great (even the bass is fine), but well - I think I have shabby ears...
However: the volume does not change as long as the Diamond is locked. Is there any option in the registry I have to change?
P.S.: The volume can neither be changed by the volume buttons at the side of the Diamond (up,down buttons) nor by the RC E100 while it it locked. Both is annoying.

You'll have to go into settings and click on the 'Lock' icon and set your diamond buttons to not lock when the device is in standby mode. But this is annoying too. When you're device is actually 'locked', I'm not sure if there is a solution..

... well... I think I found the option you ment, but this does not help at all!
The only thing this induce is, that if I press any hard key while it is in standby, the screen goes on. But this does not affect the locking =(
Strange... but might it be due to the Autolock Registry Tweak I have applied?
Is there a way to find out:
a) which buttons are the louder/quiter buttons in the registry?
b) exclude specific buttons from locking?

I think the volume control of the RC E100 is identical to the up/down keys (volume control of the diamond). So: no - also only 3-5 bar jumps. Annoying....
AND: the mute button on the RC E100 does not work as well. Hopefully HTC will release a new driver.
Btw: after installing SWS POW I got fabulous music quality! I can not tweak, change or anything in the SWS POW menu (does not find the HW Driver - can someone post it?). But it is fine, as the music quality is now mush better then before.

Actually I think you're right, that's your problem.
Look, it is of course personal preference, but by putting the device in standby, I have never found a need to 'lock' the device at all, therefore, the buttons on my RC E100 are always working OK... The only problem is I cant use them with CorePlayer! :(
I might try and install one of the drivers from the CD and see what happens (if anyone else wants to try - run the installer, you'll get an error, but then check C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\HTC Apps and you'll find the cab files).
Let me know if anyone else has a go otherwise I'll post my results when I've had look myself.

Maybe you have a different driver software version on the diamond, but:
a) the idea behind locking is avoiding to dial accidentally a number (e.g. while in your pocket) and not to be receivable during this time. So I really want and need this ability from my phone. BTW: tuning the auto-lock function off is not the point. The RC E100 should change the system sound also if it is locked - as all the other buttons do.
b) standby mode: how you activate it, and do we talk about the same thing?
I can only enter the standby mode by pressing the On/Off button shortly. But: this only turns the display off. Without the locking enabled, I can make calls accidentally!
c) the core player is the problem: Pocket-Player changes his own volume, this can be programmed to be tunable by the RC E100. That is the way it should work. Here HTC has to do its homework... (besides the horrible cover flow bugs and 3-4 min. stuttering...)
I might try and install one of the drivers from the CD and see what happens (if anyone else wants to try - run the installer, you'll get an error, but then check C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\HTC Apps and you'll find the cab files).

Well I tried to so, and all I found in the mentioned directory is a backup cab file:
Diamond_BackupTool_6.2_HTC_GER_20080522.cab
Would you mind posting the new driver?

For me when I put the device in standby the buttons are also LOCKED. If you go into Start -> Settings -> System -> Key Lock' then choose 'Lock All buttons except power button' then you will not be making accidental calls when the diamond is in your pocket, but your volume control on RCe100 will still be working!
But the play and FF/RW buttons will not work with CorePlayer. (But we already talked about that).
Anyway, I could not find the 'Diamond backup' you talked about above in the HTC Apps directory. So anyway I installed the first driver I saw in the folder (as I did not know which was the correct one) and now it has ruined my sound. My sound on my diamond is now NOT WORKING AT ALL!!!
 :(
I have to do a hard reset as I cannot find the driver to remove it....
P.S. The 3-4 minute stuttering is also happening with CorePlayer too!!!! It is a Windows Mobile problem!

Hm... thanks for this information: now all is fine for me. But strange: for me the Play/Pause and FF/RW- buttons are working, and finally the volume, too. I would be fully happy, except with the stuttering, if one could tell me how to tune the volume more accurately (not in 5 bar steps) by the remote or by the side buttons.
I do not think this stuttering is due to Windows Mobile. In Pocket Player it does not occur AND I can use the equalizer! More over I can even manipulate the volume more accurately! Also I do not have any bugs with covers as well... A pitty, HTC did such a bad job on their player...

Well - that happened to me when I tried to install The SRS WOW stuff. But after forcing the SRS Wow driver to work in the registry, I got the audio back. Nevertheless, no audio booster anymore, but that is fine for me, as I never liked it.

In PocketPlayer, you can select an action (e.g.: play) and assign a button of the remote to it.
But: If you have addressed play, to the 'RCe100' Play button. Pressing it will start the song, and the TF3D player as well.
If you turn off TF3D all works fine for me.
Hope now it is more clear... sorry for my bad English.

c) the core player is the problem: Pocket-Player changes his own volume, this can be programmed to be tunable by the RC E100.

In other words: Other players will work, but the remote always invoke the standard player as long you run TF3D.When I press a button on my RC E100, CorePlayer doesn't react BUT Windows Media starts!
Of course I tried to assign the buttons in CorePlayer but the hotkeys dialog of CorePlayer is only showing "Press the button you want to assign!".
Seems that PocketPlayer can recognize the buttons of the remote control but CorePlayer cannot.
I managed to deactivate the remote control plugin for Windows Media (in registry) BUT Windows Media is still started whenever I press a button on the remote control!
I don't use TF3D.
When I activate TF3D the volume buttons of the remote control work in CorePlayer but all the other buttons only work in TF3D player.
Windows Media is not started by any button when TF3D is active.
I bet CorePlayer is able to support ALL remote control buttons but this has to be programmed by CoreCodec, Inc.!
basthet, could you please make sure that you really can assign ALL buttons of the remote control to PocketPlayer functions? Thanks!

the remote works perfectly for me with the integrated TD audio players (tf3d and fm radio).

Do you mean me?
No it does not...
If you compare the volume level (same system volume) of the FM radio with the media player, the fm radio volume level is lower... and even if you set the system volume level to the max, it still is not sufficient in some noisy areas...

Folks,
this is a "way-out-there" question. If the E100 buttons are able to be mapped in the various media players then is it also possible that they can be mapped in some games that require hardware buttons? I.e. Worm World Party. If anyone could try this and give some feedback that would be great.

To be able to play Worms on your Diamond properly with hardware buttons you can use a savegame found somewhere in the Diamond forum.

Yes, it is possible, someone in this thread mapped the buttons to PocketPlayer functions.
But I don't know if this is really true or if he can really map all remote buttons.
I asked him, previous page, but he didn't answer, yet.
Of course the lazy folks from CorePlayer didn't do anything, yet, as usual.
They always move very slowly, it's a shame.
They already know about several bugs with CorePlayer on Diamond since a few months, but not even a bugfix release is out, yet!
Maybe you also wanna try if you can map all remote controller buttons to PocketPlayer functions??
I wanted to try that, too, but I hadn't much time these days.

Using this method, I have RCE100 working with Pocketplayer on my diamond. one slight issue tho. Forward /back buttons only ff/rew tey do not skip tracks.
Works beautifully with wow hd, however TF3D must be turned off. Am using Spb MS2.1 instead.

Hey all who bought or want to buy this gr8 remote control.
I somewhere read about mort saver, to power off the device(mine is a htc touch pro) or only display after using buttons from the remote, but it did not work for me!
after some time of listening to the radio the mort saver application shuts down and than when pressing a remote button leaves the device powered on till you power saving settings apply.
But after hours of searching the web i found THE application for powering down the device, IDEAL for fm radio usage!!:
Power countdown.
Usage:
1. First start FM radio
2. start the application( i used aebuttonplus, when i press and hold the volume down key of the phone, it starts automatically)
That's it.
Now when you press a button on the remote the screen starts, sometimes you can see the action you activated (volume change, or frequency change) after that you get a 5 seconds countdown option, when not cancelling the countdown your device will... POWER OFF(=standby) cancelling is done by pressing two keys on the screen!!
I added the zipfile which i downloaded from:
http://www.elevatedstudios.com/pocket/PowerCountNow.zip
You can see more about this great tool when you open:
http://www.elevatedstudios.com/pocket
I hope i can help you with this!!
In this way i can help others, normally others helped me in this forum!!

Has anyone seen this....
I got my E100 2 days ago and was very happy. Remote worked and sounded great. Day 3, I plug it in and the TV out screen pops up and my Touch Pro goes onto landscape mode. after plugging and unplugging it a couple of times I can get it to work, but less than 5 minutes into using it the remote stops working and when I look at my phone the TV out screen is in the forground.
Any Ideas?

Has anyone tried this RC-W100 from Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Remote-Control-W100-for-HTC-Touch-Diamond-TYTN-II-2-C_W0QQitemZ300297605044QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Mobil ePhoneAccessories?hash=item300297605044&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50
I like the slimmer black look, not to mention the cheaper price. But am afraid of the obvious problem that it is a cheap chinese knockoff that may not be fully compatible.
Anyone?

I also would appreciate a review of the Remote Control W100. Do you think i will work with the G1 (HTC Dream)?
Can anyone confirm this review http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2305159 - is it really so bad?

thought I'd chip in and let everyone know that I've got all the E100 buttons working on my athena using pocket player.
It was this thread that put me onto using that prog so thanks!
Initially it wasn't having any of it, and I'd got to the stage that the thread seems to have stalled at. ie I could use the volume buttons and pressing the play didn't start WMP but didn't add anything else.
So I started looking for other options, one of the WM adapter plugin controls in Pocket Player deals with the HTC WMP Plugin so I found a copy and installed it. Its the version attached.
and lo after a softreset following the install, as soon as I start pocket player it works flawlessly!
:hurrah! and thanks for everyones contribution to this thread which got me trying pocket player out.
If it works for anyone else then please update the thread on the conduits forum.
Oh BTW my WM plugin setting is Pocket player are:
tick everything except
HTC WMP today plug-in (first of the load wmp plugins)
HTC key mapping UI plugin
all the back/next=rewind/ffwd

Nubie here...very nubie! I downloaded this plugin, but I can't seem to get it going. Where do I find the setting? Is it in Winmo settings or pocket player? I can't seem to find in anywhere. Does it only work on cooked HTC because mine is not? Thanks!

For all the MortPlayer fans out there I thought I should share this...
I've found a plugin based on the Pocket Player one that was poster here but adapted for MortPlayer here: MP_HTCWMPPlug_061031.CAB (http://www.sto-helit.de/forum/download/file.php?id=184&sid=feb9d5282da0af323efca97c3b31fa 8e). It does work although there is a major problem; each press on the remote does what it should in MortPlayer but also loads WMP which then needs to be closed before MortPlayer will accept another command. Does anyone know how I can stop WMP using the remote all together? I noticed a post earlier on where someone had deactivated the WMP plugin in the registry but didn't say how.
BTW: I'm on a Touch Diamond 2.

I've just brought one of these.
As far as the quality is concerned, I think it is very good. I have come across one big problem though.
I use Touch Flo Detacher because my Diamond lacks the ram to run 3D2 and iGO8 at the same time.
The headset controls aren't able to control the music player in Touch Flo and instead launch Windows Media Player.... I don't like WMP because you have to take the stylus out and go through a list of menus before you are listening to any music at all. I want to plug in the headset and then just press play, and the music from the music tab in TF plays. This only happens if I don't use TF Detacher.....
What a bummer.
As a work around to this, does anyone know how to make WMP start playing a track from just one push of the play button on the headset? Can it be assigned to start playing music from any other music player?

Hey all,
I seem to be joining the ranks of people who have faulty E100s. It worked great the 1st few days, but now it is barely functional at all. At best I can get the headphones only to work and even that can take 30 mins worth of resets. Anyone have any solutions? I have contacted HTC Support over the issue as well, just wanted to hedge my bets before I decide to replace or return.
