I have a VZW HTC6800 and I need to get the SPL 2.40 on the device so I can move forward. I get to the point where it ask for the disconnect/reconnect but on the reconnect I cannot get it to see ActiveSYnc. I have searched for an answer and cannot find one. What danger would I have if I did not disconnect and continue will I still get the 2.40?

you can make sure you got 2.40 correctly, by manually entering bootloader. (power+camera+reset) if it says that you have 2.40, then you got it. so you can proceed, if not then go back and try again to make sure you get it

You're not supposed to see activesync at that stage. Disconnect and reconnect, and continue with the process.

Make sure also that you HEAR the tones that acompany the disconnect and connect... You will hear tones.... On disconnect you will hear tones that decend, and on connect they will ascend....

OK...will try again...when I disconnect then reconnect this is done in the DOS window. After that I do I do hit continue and the RUU I guess you would call it comes up. In that procedure it request that an active sync connect be made and this is where I have been for hours trying to get it to connect. If I never disconnected in DOS I would be OK but I know this is required...
Oh well...must mean I do not need it...

Yeah it's fine...just keep going...as long as when you reconnect, at the bottom of the bootloader screen it says USB and not Serial, then you're fine.

Thx...that info did help...
For any newbies like me this might help. I followed the instructions hanging off each word for each step. One the SPL update entering into the Windows GUI and I attempting over & over to connect to active sync because the instructions state to do so before checking the box. Maybe it was dumb of me but I never saw it stated to ignore that step from WiKi page...so hope that helps someone down the road.
Pros...now that I am updated is it safe to add tweaking apps like tweaks2k2 or Pocket Toolman. I am sure some reg hacks are added but do not want to cross up anything with the new 312 rom? Please advise?

When I posted this I was on the 2.40 boot loader but now I am on the 2.47. This loader is loaded from the SD card so all the trouble I posted you will not see. Sorry I do not have the link but do a search for the 2.47 you will see it and how to load it off a SD card.
