Here's Chome Weather 3.0 with a 10 day forecast. Download the cab and enjoy.
1) Install the cab in the link at the bottom of the post.
2) It should ask to reboot ! Press "Ok" :)
3) Go to your Start Menu and find "Weather Options", or go down to the Settings slide on your homescreen and the second slide will be the CHome Weather options slide.
Set your Zip / Location Code to your zip code if you're in the US or a "location code" if you're anywhere else (ex: ROXX003 for Bucharest). More info on finding your specific code is here http://developer.yahoo.com/weather/#req . Set the "Fahrenheit / Celsius" option. This will only affect the reading of the current conditions panels, not the text descriptions in the forecast panels. Those will always be in Fahrenheit.
Specify whether you would like the application to attempt to connect your default GPRS connection first, before updating. If you have a constant data connection on, leave this on "N". Finally you can turn off the autoupdate feature with the last option #7.
4) Now it might be a good idea to go to Start and find "Update Weather" and run it to update the weather data! Alternatively you can click the center button while you're on any of the forecast panels.
5) The cab should set your Home Screen to "Sliding Panel + Weather!" automatically.
6) Enjoy and report any bugs you might encounter, please. :)
New features:
- New 6 day forecast layout (layout #7)
- Autoupdate using Yahoo's server time. No manual control over update interval anymore.
- Revised layouts to ensure correct wrapping
- HomeScreen update feature. No need to reboot to see forecast or layout changes. This option is turned off by default because it doesn't work for everybody. If you turn it on and you see problems with your phone's radio turning off, phone becoming very slow etc... turn it off. (it's option #10)
- Added new panel to the Settings panel at the bottom for easy access to the weather updates and settings.
- "Stardock icons" are default for forecast and regular panels.
Screenshot descriptions:
1- IPhone Layout (this is the default layout)
2- Forecast Panels screenshot
3- Slim Panels Layout with the background options enabled
4- HTC Slim Layout while updating
5- HTC Slim Layout in normal mode
6- The HomeScreen with the weather plugin in its "condensed" state at the bottom, showing current conditions
7- Regular Panel Layout with no background.
8- IPhone Slim Layout

Vox Version (Currently still at 3.0.1) > http://www.sendspace.com/file/0bie7d
Current Version: 3.1
Changes in 3.1
- Rearranged the order the various subroutines run.
- Fixed autoupdate issue.
- Removed HTC icons and background PNGs from the cab. Please download them separately from the addons post if you plan to use those layouts.
- Added option to show extended forecast panels on the homescreen or not.
- Added detection routine to detect if your phone's keypad is locked and NOT to update the homescreen is that's the case. Should help with the "Phone - Incoming" message problem that's been reported
- Edited some CPRs for better alignment
- More verbose status messages
- Etc...
More to come soon. The next version will update your clock panel with current conditions info. Just wanted to get this update out of the way first.
Changes in 3.0.1:
- Added 6 day forecast layout.
- Autoupdate feature based on Yahoo server's time.
- Small bugfixes, revised Options panel.
- Compressed PNGs.
- Complete portrait support for the new 6 day layout.
- Background used in screenshots included in .cab.
Changes to 2.0.3:
- completely redesigned Options panel. Hopefully things will be easier to get around. Now it tell you what the current layout used is.
- Fixed HTC Layout (5) text not wrapping down issue.
- Added option NOT to check for internet connection before connecting.
- Options panel keeps track of what layout you're running.
- added blue, purple, WM7 style or original glass panel selection to options panel.
- updated portrait CPRs.
- forecast panels should now display "N/A" icons when a forecast is not available instead of a red x.
- ability to choose between european ("rest of the world pretty much...) or american style dates on the forecast panels.
If you like this application and feel the need to support my work, here's a link to donate to me via PayPal.

DO NOT install this to the storage card. It will not work that way!
p.s. Portrait support is included for the new 6 day layout.
p.s.s. The cab seems to take a few minutes to install, especially if you're installing over 2.0.3. So just be patient I guess... :)

Update to 3.1
Only install this if you have 3.0.1 or 3.0.2 installed. Otherwise, download the cab in the sendspace link above and install the whole app.

This is the "addons" post.
Added "NRG Power Key..... .cab This will add three options to the menu that comes up when you hit the power key on the side of your Excalibur. "Power off", "Reboot" and "Weather Update". I hope they're self explanatory Have fun. Take note your wireless manager might be gone, or might act erracticaly. If you have problems, just install the cab. Don't post in the thread about it, there's nothing I can do about it.
Download the Calibri font mod if you want your system font to look like the one in the screenshots.
The Yahoo, Spil, Novaweather and 7Degree icon sets are alternative icons sets for most of your layouts and extended forecast panels :)
Most of the icons sets install as a one time installation application. Which means you will not see it in the "uninstallable" list of program under "Settings". Once you run the cab, it will overwrite whatever icons are installed and that's it...

So far so good on my Q9c. Last version had to be uninstalled due to a couple of crashes. The worst being when I plugged into the computer the home screen crashed and would not recover after a reboot.
Like the new layout.

Incredible progress!
I've attached two SS's from my QVGA, using your layout #9 (Standard 6 day which is only 4 day by the way). As you can see, the bottom Temps are not lined up in either F or C and I looked at the CPR, but it is like Greek to me... I see "Bottom Temps" but fiddling and restarting gives me either to the Right or Left - I don't suppose there is a GUI for modding these CPRs is there?
Can you assist in getting it all lined up?
Thanks and keep up the GREAT work! Expect some more PayPal coming your way!

The new layout looks beautiful. The one thing i might suggest: You may want to add an option in advanced options to turn off the 10 day forecast. Since it appears that im going to be using this 6 day testpluginui ( and several others will be too) they may not want or need the additional 10 day forecast panel.
I personally know how to disable it via the registry, but others may not. Secondly, If that option is de-selected, if you can also put in the weather.mscr file to not update that panel, so that way the weather updater runs a little faster.
Edit: I also think that today's Hi/Lo under the city needs to be removed. Its kind of redundant info, since the same info is located in the 6 day forecast located in the first day of the 6 day forecast.
This will also allow more room for lengthier weather condition names.

I installed on my Q9c and I still get that font issue with large text boxes in PIE, however, I'm willing to put up with it at this point since the 6-day layout means I don't have to reboot the phone to see the latest forecast.
Any idea what might be causing the font issue? Since this weather panel is basically just scripts reading XML files and making registry changes, I can't imagine that it'd be too hard to figure out what's causing the PIE font issue. The font issue isn't a huge deal and I'd completely ignore it if it weren't for the fact that the digital font makes no differentiation between upper and lower case and many special characters just show up as boxes.
I dumped the 10-day panel and added a link to the Weather Update in my links panel if I ever decide to manually update the weather.

It may be the chome_320X240.cpr file in your /windows directory. When you load a layout. his program pulls .cprs from the chomeweather directory and replaces your original chome_320X240.cpr file ... you may uninstall. copy over your chome320X240.cpr file do your PC's desktop and open it and whatever .cpr file you use for the weather layout and compare the differences.

Glad you guys like it. I'm sorry the portrait guys are still experiencing issues, like the misalignment of the bottom temps. However, the issue needs to be taken care of in the weather.mscr file, not the cpr file. I think I will switch to png rendering of the bottom temps instead of relying on text handled by the plugin. It's just not reliable at all and the temps are always a little misaligned....
Look for 3.0.1 at the end of the day... LOL

No chances to have a version for WM6?

this app is specifically written for the sliding panel homescreen. The sliding panel homescreen is only available on the WM 6.1 platform. So no. it does not and will not work on the WM6 interface

Oh man... I SO wanna download this and "finagle" while I'm here at work, but I'll need to edit my cpr and it's too cumbersome trying to do it from the phone (instead of on my PC desktop). Blast! My love for boldened titles hinders me from enjoying this .cab this instant! lol

After messing around with things for a while, I finally figured it out. I renamed \Windows\LCD.ttf to LCD.bak and rebooted. Now PIE uses its regular Courier font instead of the LCD font. Weird issue and I'm surprised that PIE seems to randomly grab a fixed-width font from \Windows but whatever. This fix probably means I can't use the LCD clock font, but I'm not using that option anyway. Probably just a Moto Q9c issue.
I'm very happy! :D:D:D Small Paypal donation made. (Note, Organic, your latest version thread here doesn't have a Paypal link - found it on another thread.)
While digging around, I noticed that the SPWeather.home.xml files and most of the cpr files are using the Nina font, which I don't think my phone has. My default chome_320x240.cpr file uses Segoe. Several of the portrait-style cpr files use Segoe instead of Nina.

He's using a dark, but partially transparent image on the slide, this is due to the fact that he's trying to make all of the info appear better on the screen as to adapt to different types of wallpapers people use. If you used a very light background image for example, and he didnt use that filter, the white text would be difficult to see.

The CHome Config refreshes your screen. It will remove the CTestUIPanel everytime. Always, reboot, then go back to CHome Config and then click on show next to the CTestUIPanel, it will then refresh the screen again and your panel will be there. It is supposed to know that CTest is running and reboot your phone to make these changes, mine does sometimes, sometimes it doesn't and I have the same problem as you.
Hint one thing I noticed. If I wait, like 3 seconds after it asks me to save changes when I exit, then it will ask if I want to reboot. Then, I say yes and all problems go away. You might want to try that wait 3 seconds thing, and see if that works for you. I can only say that I think the program has to have time to catch up in order to work correctly. Hope this helps

With 3.0.1... trust me, it's a ROYAL pain in the rearend. Haha
You need to look at lfat6day.cpr and pfat6day.cpr and compare them. You'll noticed the l file (which is for "l"andscape) has more days listed (6) and the p file only has 4. What you do, is you add the code for day 5 :) It's pretty easy if you look at the files... I'm sure you'll notice the differences right away. Keep in mind the digits for the temp are actual PNGs now, so alinging every single digit will be a major pain, but if you're up to it...:D

I have now played with it for about a day. I must say that I am really impressed. This is exactly what I have been looking for.
There is one issue I will report. Once this app is loaded, any changes made to the home screen from Settings\Home Screen results in unusual behavior, such as panels not loading, or changes not saved, etc. I am not sure if this problem was there in previous versions as well, since I never tried to change the backgound image or theme.
Rebooting helps sometimes, but not always...
Overall, great work...

I've noticed that you've got post #1 showing that the current download is: v3.0.1, however, when you install the file it reads v3.0. Maybe this is just an oversight, but I was wondering if I'm downloading the correct version.

One more thing... How do I get my bottom temps to display? When I first installed, it showed the temps (but the lows only showed one digit). After rebooting, it showed the lows and highs but I had to reboot for some other reason... Now it shows the date and time of the update where the bottom temps should be. I've checked the options and couldn't find anything that stuck out to me.

For everybody that has auto update issues, this should fix that. Please let me know how it works. This is an update cab that will just overwrite your existing weather.mscr and will NOT show up in your uninstallable apps list :) This is easier then releasing a whole new cab, and it's what I'll be doing in the future to release bug fixes.

I agree with someone above, asking about a way to slim down the program memory wise. 6MB is quite a bit of space on my phone at least. I'd imagine if it was possible to get rid of all the non-chosen layouts and that sort of thing it'd be much smaller.
Also, the connect to GPRS option should be renamed since that needs to be enabled for CDMA phones as well to update over the air.
It would also be nice to have the option of displaying the high before the low, since thats how most places in the US show it as far as I know. Not entirely necessary, but it'd be a little more convenient.
I also agree that the 6-day panel now makes the weather forecast panel completely redundant for my use, so I'd love to be able to disable it, especially if disabling it would stop the need for rebooting the phone for every update (I've tried the experimental option which seems to crash on my phone often.)
It'd be nice if somehow the installer realized that the homescreen I had been using had Rinku's IconBar in use, and inserted that into the homescreen with this as well.
Finally, one last little nitpick with the 6-day Slim screen, which I otherwise love. The icon is on the left of the Clock panel, then on the right of the message center panel (I believe thats what the email / missed calls/ voicemail / texts panel is called). Then its on the right for the appointments panel, and on the left for the Weather Forecast panel, left for music, left for photos, right for settings. This is on a landscape phone. It'd be better for consistency's sake if it kept all of them with the icon on the left, as far as I'm concerned. Also, when unselected, the time and message center use center alignment and everything else is left aligned. Having everything left would again look better for consistency. (And could we get the date in the unselected version of the clock panel?)
NRGZ28
15th June 2008, 07:58 AM
Well the slim panels are a personal redesign, and thats exactly how I like it. I agree it could use a few improvements, but dont count on any major design changes. If you dont like itthe way it is, dont use it or modify it to your liking by editing the cpr file in the /cprs directory. This app is first designed for me and for my phone so that always takes precedence ;)

To add to the list, autoupdate not working for me with a CDMA phone using EVDO either. I also installed the update cab.
And for my previous post, I guess it probably came across pretty negatively but I do see many of those as small improvements that would improve the app drastically. However, it is still a really great application as it is.
The biggest improvement for me would still be improving the memory footprint though. Along those lines, is it okay to delete the "dlls" folder which just contains the sliders and is 1.7 MB if I have no plans to change from the default slider? The same for some of these icon folders. I guess what I'm saying is that instructions on what can be cut out to save storage memory would be nice.
Also, one last little question. On the settings panel on 6day slim, I like how it adds the battery level page. However, is this supposed to be a red X icon, or is it supposed to be a battery like the 6-day normal?

You can delete the entire DLL folder if you never plan to change the color of your panels. Same for the HTCicons folder if you never want to use the HTC layout.. IPHONE folder for the iphone layout and so on.... :) I will figure out a solution for this and make it modular. I don't know why you would get a red x ... I will look into that.

I seem to be having a different auto-update problem than everyone, mine updates too many times, I never noticed it until I turned the vibrate feature on. When the auto update starts, my screen shows it updating and I do get the two vibrates for the completed update, but then it starts updating again right after the original update. This happens a total of 3 times.
I am always connected all day anyway via exchange server but the I did notice the vibrates do drain the battery a little bit more, I have since shut that feature off. Anyone else notice this or have this same problem?

Hey jgalea, I am normally not one to just throw in my two cents on things like this, but I think we can all agree on one thing:
Any software we download and install on our phones is our own responsibility. You made the choice to try it and it may not have worked for you, that's the name of the game.
Organic put in a ton of work on this software, not to mention all the efforts of everyone who helped through testing and reporting.
I'll bet you can't show any bruises on your arm from being forced to try this program. You made a choice to install it and it didn't work for you . . . get over it and move on. At least there are guys like Organic willing to put in the effort - have you?

My intent was not to complain, but to warn others. I've seen a number of comments in the forums about uninstall problems with this code. I do not seem to be the only one.
I installed NRG Chome Weather 3.0 Vox.cab on an HTC 710 with Dr Gonzo's 1.1 Version of WinMo 6.1. The program did not uninstall. I tried install/uninstall, reboots. Everything previously mentioned. you may have already done this, but try this. Go to 2 places in your registry.

I won't know for another 28 minutes if I for sure fixed the auto-update issue, but here is a modified weather.mscr file that I believe fixes the auto-update problem.
Of course, use this at your own risk.
I changed:
If (yupdatemin<nowmin)
To this:
If (yupdatemin<=nowmin)
Only 1 character difference, but without this extra character, there was no path in the code that set a value for Stamp if the current minutes equals the last update to the weather data plus 5 minutes.
UPDATE: This small change works for me. I could add a final If-Then trap just before the script adds the notification to the State and Notification Broker that checks to ensure that Stamp isn't blank or null or in the past and change Stamp to an hour from now if Stamp doesn't meet that criteria.

I am finding that, for my zip code, the last update always occurs at 53 after, but the xml file must be updated much later. You can use SKTools Lite to view the Notifications Queue to confirm that auto update is properly scheduled, so I know it's working. I may further update the code to compare update times & re-update in 10 mins if no update has occured on the webpage. It's very hard to read & modify someone else's code, especially when you are unfamiliar with the project, so I will see what I can do.

2) Modified code to automatically update every 5 minutes if the update time on the webpage has not changed since the last runtime. (Added a new registry key to prevent the auto update from running every 5 minutes after a manual update. If you ran a manual update and there was no change in last webpage update, this new code could cause the phone to autoupdate every 5 minutes until the webpage updates.)
3) Updated SetOptions.mscr to change "GPRS" to "internet connection" to better represent CDMA phones.
4) Updated SetOptions.mscr to include a setting to disable updating the 10-day forecast panel (Welcome Center) to speed up the update time for those of us not using the 10-day panel (Welcome Center). Default is Yes, to update the Welcome Center whether the registry key exists yet or not. With this option set to No, you should no longer see the 75% progress bar. On my phone, this makes the whole process run about 5 seconds faster.
5) Added code to support not updating the Welcome Center panel for the above option to Weather.mscr. Default is Yes, to update the Welcome Center whether the registry key exists yet or not.
6) Changed code such that the next autoupdate occurs at a slightly random time of last webpage update + 1 hour + random 4 to 8 minutes to help reduce traffic from hitting the webpage all at the same time.
The zip file contains 2 files. Both files need to replace the files in \Program Files\NRG\ChomeWeather Use these at your own risk and back up your old files if you feel the need.

Thanks for helping out with this. I haven't had the time to release the bug fixes (although I did fix the autoupdate feature on my phone already).
The only problem I see with your modification #5 is... If you set the option to not update the WelcomeCenter if will not update layout #7 either which is a "no no" :) I will look through your mods and post an update.cab to squash all the bugs and add your mods :)

Yes, you're right, I messed up that extra option. One last update from me and I think it's high time I turned the keys back over to OrganicM. This version fixes the update bug with my option and eliminates the step that downloads and writes the text descriptions of the extended forecast to the registry that isn't needed if you aren't using the 10-day (Welcome Center) panel.

I am using the six day panel and whenever it finishes updating, I get a brief message stating "incoming call". The problem lies in when this happens and my phone is locked. When I go to unlock the phone, the incoming call message pops up and I cant get rid of it. Is anyone else seeing this?

If you're using the 6 day panel. No. It is intentionally dark (semi-transparent)
the image is to allow better columnization of the weather details and also i believe it's used to allow the data to "pop-out" better on your screen, no matter what wallpaper you are using. Some wallpapers with the completely transparent slides would make some of the text info on the slide difficult to read.

I don't know if anyone else is having this issue with the regular version of the mortscript files but I am having issues with Dees_Troy's newest versions. The highs and lows no longer appear in the 6-day forecast panel when selected. I got an error trying to run this that the previous version of NRG Weather update would have to uninstall first. Then it said the previous version couldn't be uninstalled, and asked if it should try installing anyway, and finally when it finished it said installing was unsuccessful. However, it does appear that the two scripts in my CHomeWeather directory are the new ones. I still have no high and low temperatures, so I'm going to try uninstalling the whole thing and reinstalling it again I think.

Warning to Moto Q9C users..
This is a very cool nice looking program but warnings to watch out for.. The following issues happened on 7 different Moto Q9C phones all using sprint network.
1. When locking your phone you will get a "Phone Incoming" across the top that will randomly show up and not go away until rebooting phone or updating weather
2. auto update does not work.. even if it does you still need to do a manual update to get it to show on your sliding panel
3. auto update home screen turns off your phone service
4. uninstalling the program will cause u to get prompts about the nrg weather file does not exist every hour when it use to try and auto update.. this seems to only be after installing the NRG update files..
Hopefully the issues will be resolved but for now it has been removed from my phone and wouldn't suggest Q9C users to install it.. unless it is a second device you mess around on..

Well instead of coming on here and talking crap about my application, saying how it doesn't work properly on your Motorola phone, maybe you should look at the top of this forum and observe the fact that this is an Excalibur forum. NOT a Motorola Q forum. So if this app gives you problems, instead of warning people to stay away from it, I suggest you just stay away completely until you get an Excalibur, which is what this application is designed to be installed on and on which it works pretty well. Before my first update it showed this. After I updated it manually once, it worked for me. I'll have to include some error checking for that "minutes until next update" feature... And the problem right now is, that it runs at the beginning of the script (thus, before updating) and it should really run after the new data (and the timestamp) has been downloaded. I'll do that tonite and post a new update as well... Thanks for hanging in there guys.

Even if I did see it, it wouldn't bother me. If it bothers you that much, I am surprised that you can even stand to use a Windows Mobile device at all.
2) Auto updating works fine with me after the latest update cabs are installed & it updates the CTestUI panel for me every time. The 10-day panel only updates if you use the homescreen refresh option or reboot.
3) It's called an experimental option for a reason. Turn it off & use one of the 6 day panels instead. Use CHome Configurator to hide the CWelcomeCenter panel & make sure the CTestUI panel is not hidden. After saving these changes, you will get a message saying that home.exe crashed. Reboot your phone & all is well.
4) It doesn't sound like the program is uninstalled. Delete everything in \Program Files\NRG. Install & open SKTools Lite (free) & on the first screen, click View->Maintenance & select Notifications Queue. Delete any references to \Program Files\Nrg\CHomeWeather\weather.exe & no more auto updating.

I was wondering at some point if the main weather panel, not the forcast panel could be integraded with the big clock panel at the top so as I do a quick look at my phone I can see the time and the weather in the same panel.

If you mean running the Rinku bar and the weather app at the same time--then the answer is 'yes'. After downloading the Rinku Iconbar (if you haven't already), go to 'Settings' -> 'Homescreen' -> 'Home screen layout' -> then select 'Sliding Panel Weather Colored Top Bar'. It'll make the homescreen do some erratic stuff at first, then it may go completely blank. After that point, reboot your phone and it should have the colored iconbar along with NRG's weather panel.

The message opened the incoming call window so that the source pngs in the cpr will refresh. The same can be accomplished by opening start menu or using phone or starting any app. Ditch the testui and go to a panel like this, then the screen refresh can happen in the background with zero interruption. This screenshot is an early version that I linked to up above, better layout will come soon from Outerdepth.

Hey bud, thought you might like to see what I am almost done with. It doesn't require the ctestuipanel. You are way better at dealing with that than I am I guess. It does have a forecast/current conditions extended with radar and updated radar image panel as well. This will be a two parter. I will be done with the entire project in a day or so, but it is already operational and has an options exe for easy setup. I was inspired by all your hard work, Org. Thanks for the inspirations, man. Hope to hear good things from you. Take it easy, dude. Keep up the great work. Hope CTest works better for you than it did me. Later on.

1. Yes I use smart tool kit as well.. the reason it bugs me is it blocks my battery, signal, etc.. all across the top..
2. Must just been bad luck on the phones test with then b/c none of them would update the CTestUI panel
3. i tried what you said and still nothing..
4. the prompts stopped after rebooting the phones again
Dont get me wrong... I am looking forward to this application and once it works well i will be making a donation for the great work.. This is a very clean nice looking application but seems a little buggy.. again its been like a few weeks since it was released so people can expect that.. just wanted to give a heads up if people were using the Q9C might experience problems.. if you dont like trying to figure a bunch of errors and stuff out it might not be the best to install right now..

Yes I understand that.. Nothing could be bug free with microsoft.. Once you got something working 100% with no bugs microsoft would come in and fix that for you.. lol.. I am really hoping moving it to the clock panel will fix most of the issues i had.. atleast with the auto updating and the auto refreshing.. and from what i am reading that will remove the need to have the "phone incoming" thing as well as the auto refresh home screen shutting off the phone service.. I think for the short time WM 6.1 has been out this app is pimp..

Moving things to the clock panel will actually bring some problems. One, would be the fact that you will have to open up some type of application to refresh the screen and see the updated temperatures. So the "incoming problem" will not be fixed, yet. Myself and TLogix worked all evening one day on a solution, but nothing worked but bringing up the Phone application for a fraction of a second, then minimizing it. This is what the "incoming" message is. It's a message it's actually the window title of the Phone application. :)
Second, you will not get updated status messages as the weather is updating the weather. Also, you will not be able to get any textual descriptions unless they're hard coded into the PNGs (which is what outerdepth seems to have done). SO changing icon sets will be next to impossible, unless he offers edited versions :)
Third, the clock panel doesn't offer any user customizable text fields, which really blows. I guess this would be categorized under the previous paragraph, but for me... this single reason is what's holding me from moving to another panel :)

For all of those Portait Peeps using axv91's 5-day rearranged/Modded background and would like to have it transparent like the other panels, today is your day! It looks lovely against a darker homescreen...
I suggest that you rename the original as to avoid posting later something like: "I don't like it and I want my old one back, whah!"
Hats off to the Org-Man for his dedicated effort in making better what M$ should have done from the start AND to Mort for his depth of logic!
Enjoy!

Hi Org. I've installed last version of your app. Everything works great, but for some reason it doesn't show lo's temps. This is a SS of what I'm talking about. I'm using normal 6-day forecast. It also happens on slim layout
Anyway congrats for this excellent app. This last addition of 6-day is really awesome and was just what I've wanted to have.

Tell me if I'm missing something here...
The clock panel only really gives me the current time and date. I run SmartToolKit which puts the current time in the start bar at the bottom. The 6-day panel has the last updated date/timestamp which is almost always the current date. So, I drop the CClock panel with CHome Configurator and move CTestUI to the top... don't I pretty much have all of the information you are trying to get without the difficulties you'll have trying to use the actual CClock panel? It just seems like a lot of work and trouble for potentially little gain, to me.

Is the updating the panel an issue with the home screen xml and CHome_320_240.cpr files?
[Nevermind.. I see your questions on Jorgeba's page on microsoft... =\.. So guess its bigger then that]

So let me understand something.. If you have the auto update homescreen turned off but the auto update weather turned on.. Whenever an application takes up the whole screen such as IE, sending a text, etc.. when you go back it should refresh the weather panel right?

If you have the autoupdate homescreen off, that means your entire homescreen (for the benefit of the forecast panels) will refresh. Since it causes a problems for most people, Org recommends leaving it off (unless it doesn't crash your phone).
Since you have the autoupdate weather on, it'll update at the set time intervals (60 minutes, I think). Having a program open that covers the entire screen won't trigger the update to refresh the screen.

I don't have the 6 days on one page, I have day per page with mutliple pages available.

Microsoft says the panels cant be updated but to me that seems a little fishy.. When you get a text message it completely changes and its on the fly without refreshing the whole screen.. Actually now that i think about it.. ALL of their panels update with information.. Clock, photos, calendar, etc.. So the ability to do it is there.. They just dont want to tell people how to do it.. Go go microsoft..

Sounds like you're not using the 6-day layout. Double-check your NRG Weather Options and see which layout your panel is set to. Also, you have to disable the forecast panel (CWelcome Center) manually in the registry.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CHome\CWelcomeCenter (go to "Disabled" and change the '0' to '1') Reboot after making this change. The forecast panels should be gone.

I think the problem with updating panels lies with the type of panel used. The CWelcomeCenter panel that is used for the 10-day extended forecast with text descriptions wasn't designed to be updated as, for MS's intended purpose, it should never have to be updated. CClock on the other hand, obviously gets updated every minute.
CTestUI that is used for the 6-day layout can be updated without having to refresh the entire home screen. Still, you have to do something to trigger an update of the panel such as launching an application or using OrganicM's "Incoming Message" trick.
Many of the difficulties developers are experiencing with the sliding panels may be simply because MS never thought anyone would try to develop new materials for the home screen. Future versions may be made much more extensible. There's certainly no reason someone couldn't make their own home.exe type application as a homescreen replacement and replace MS's entire system with something more flexible and extensible. Maybe that's where the real money lies.

Thats why I thought if it was on the clock panel that once the information got updated that when the clock updated it would show the new information for the weather. As Org said having it on the clock panel doesnt mean it will refresh the weather.. You still need to have something do it such as the "incoming" message thing

Either the 6 Day Slim Layout (Option 8) or the 6 Day Normal Layout (Option 9).
No weather at all?! That registry change should only remove the forecast panels. Try one of the options above, and see what happens. (you should have a current weather panel and a SEPERATE set of forecast panels)

It can't be updated from the current cond.(testui) panel unless you assign the weather.exe to a hot key. You can use smart tool kit to set keys or there are a few other programs as well.:)

1. sry if this has been asked before but how do u change the interval times in the new version? i want to set it to every 12 hrs only becuase im only using wifi
2. is it possible to write a code to turn on wifi only when updating? it eats up half the battery when i leave wifi on in less than a day :(
tnx for any help :)

With version 3, autoupdate automatically sets the interval based on the last time the webpage has been updated. In other words, if the webpage was last updated at 2:32, the next update would be scheduled for a few minutes after 3:32. Given the infrequency of your updates and your use of wifi, you may be best off simply manually updating your weather information when you're going to look at it.

Well if you only update when you're on wifi, how would you know exactly how to adjust the update intervals ?! What you're saying doesn't make any sense... Just push the button when you're looking at it and update manually. It only takes about 10-15 seconds on WiFi.

If you use the update cab file that is linked in post #2 of this thread, you'll need to change all of your options before updating your weather data. The update cab changes the settings to use a certain layout (along with the ZIP code, etc.). If you weren't using that layout before the update, the wrong cpr file may be in your \Windows folder and may cause erratic display of weather data until you select a layout in the options.

this suggestion is more of a layout suggestion , and less of a functionality suggestion. That about puting the date under the time and placing the wi-fi in the header bar, where the date is..... essentially flip-flopping them.
I know this is easy to do, as this is currently how i have my .cpr set , others may also mirror my suggestion though. I just think the date is best left in the place near the time. Again, just a suggestion.

Since we can't put user-defined text in the clock panel, it would be exceedingly difficult to pull this off. It might be possible using a lot of png files for the different letters and characters, but it'd be a virtual nightmare and almost certainly not worth the time and lag that it would induce.

Also, CHome Weather Options says that the next update will occur in "-50 minutes". Earlier it said "-800 minutes", haha. Maybe they're related?
I had 8.0.1 or .2, I think (I've installed updates as I've seen them) before installing the update posted a page or two back... then I started seeing this trouble.
As a note, I use 'Automatic Keylock' to lock my keys if I haven't used the phone in a short time. It's either that or it starts calling people without asking me, haha.

if the auto reload homescreen is off.. does that make the auto refresh weather useless? since it doesnt update the homescreen you need to do it by manually refreshing the weather.. so it seems kinda pointless to have it auto update weather if its not displaying the updated stuff
