Hi all,

I'm getting more and more exited about this beautifull Diamond ROM.
In my eyes it's blinking fast with only a view bugs to solve.

Because everyone is complaining about the Diamond keyboard and also there favorit navigation program not working in WM6.1 I desided to release without HTCHome and without the Diamond keyboard.

I know I promised yesterday to do a release with the Diamond keyboard but it's still a bit bugged so I desided to start with this build, sorry about that!

The interface is improved again thanks to Empex's wonderfull work which you can find here:

WARNING: Don't expect the complete HTC DIAMOND interface, I only ported the CE OS !!!

HTC Diamond interface is in VGA and Kaiser is QVGA.

It's a prill beginning but I was so proud that I've ported the OS that I desided to share with you ASAP!

Now that it's in the air I will see what I can improve and bring over to Kaiser!

Step by step I will add more Diamond apps and more dll's to improve video acceleration and rom speed plus stability.

I desided to release without HTCHome and without the Diamond keyboard.

Absolutely wonderful!

Flashing now ... Done!

It looks beautiful!

1st issue:
I installed touchpal but it wont display. So theres still a sip setting that need fixing. Same with FingerTouch.

Update: Looks like the sip issue is due to a Today plugin, disabled them all and now FIngerTouch works.
Removing one at a time now.
It's the Device Lock plugin!

Update: Wrong, I disable only the Device Lock plugin and I can't change to the FingerTouch sip.
Looks like disabling any 2 Today plugins followed by a soft reset allows the sip to change. WTF?

Update2:
Looks like WM6 cant have too many processes starting up at once. So, removing 2 today plugins did the trick.

I then turned all the plugins on, and then removed

AutoShortcut.lnk
PKG.lnk
poutlook.lnk
sddaemon.lnk

from \Windows\Startup

Hi Laurentius26,

I wonder if it's possible to get a cab of your "Diamond Look/Feel" versions of HTC Home (preferably with all 6 tabs if possible) for those that are not having navigation troubles and still want that. You are doing great things here so skip this request if it will take too much time away from bigger and better things (most importantly real life ;) )

Thanks In Advance

HTC HOME
DIAMOND KEYBOARD

Any way; I respect your work and I'll be waiting for L26 KaIsEr Diamond v8.5 :P

Minor (very very minor) Bug:

I notice something strange with HTC album. First, let me say that HTC Album works better in this version as opposed to previous versions in regards to gestures. What I mean is, while gestures worked in your previous versions, they were a bit twitchy and sometimes recognized incorrectly. Now, however, they are on point. They seem to work as you would expect every time. Having said that, let me try to explain the odd bug that I noticed:

-While in the album, toggle the camera via the top left icon.
-Now, once you are done with the camera, close it with the X in the right corner.
-By doing this you should be taken back to the album screen. However this is where the bug occurs. What happens is, the camera seems to close but leaves part of the camera interface on screen while the top and bottom bars of the album reappear as well. However, the album doesn't fully refresh for quite some time. (Hard to explain but try the steps to see what I mean).

Probably also related to the above as it displays similar but not exact symptoms is:

If S2U2 comes on while the album is active, once you unlock the device again, the album should typically appear. What happens is, the top and bottom menu bars will appear but nothing else shows except a black background. However, tapping the screen will now cause the pictures to appear.

These are very very minor as there are other feasible ways to get around but just wanted to let you know as it seems like you are pushing towards the perfect rom.

Hope I've given enough detail for you to duplicate the issue if you choose to address it.

I've used the last 5 or so versions of your roms as they are very fast and stable. Thank you!

I am still a strong supporter of HTC Home, however instead of using the ring profile tab I prefer to use the Red End button to toggle vibrate/ring. When I try to map Endkey to it using Mortscript long_keypress I don't see a way to select Endkey from the Windows folder to map to it.

I've searched with no results. Would someone please summarize how to achieve this?

OK,

1. Start\Programs\Utilities\DeviceConfig\Long_Keypres s

2. Select the 'Long Press RED key (phone end)'

3. Browse to the Windows directory

4. In windows you will find a shortcut to the 'Endkey'

That's it!

Very handy ;)

I've used the last 5 or so versions of your roms as they are very fast and stable. Thank you!

I am still a strong supporter of HTC Home, however instead of using the ring profile tab I prefer to use the Red End button to toggle vibrate/ring. When I try to map Endkey to it using Mortscript long_keypress I don't see a way to select Endkey from the Windows folder to map to it.

I've searched with no results. Would someone please summarize how to achieve this?

I can change between all standard SIP, but not to Eyron keyboard, that get me hardware support for my MUI

So far very good. Thanks for the great release!

Thanks for this - the SIP issue is usually that little sticky thingy for me that drives me so nuts that I just change ROMs to one that allows me to interchange SIPs at will! So, looooong battery life, SIP flexibility, great looks, stability and the L26 badge behind the ROM should definitely make this one a keeper! Great work Leo!

I think i remember reading somewhere that the scroll wheel issue is related somehow to the dialer being from a phone that doesn't have a scroll wheel.

Leo,
I have been following and testing your ROM for a while. Great job!
Yesterday I had upgraded one of my Tilt to V7 and today to V8. http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
I have another Tilt which I change between yours and shogunmark. I have currently loaded there V6.

The WolrdCard is not working on both V7/V8, getting a message ("The handle is invalid. EC:6;HR:0x80004005). It works fine when installed on your V6 ROM.

I have also noticed that Hide SIM contacts is not working, too.
I have tried, besides the advanced configurator, to manualy overwrite in the registry value, but still no go for me. http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Also I still try to find a solution how to get the touchpal or any other SIP working. Default IM does not work for me.
As a feedback Resco keyboard works with V6.
for where I live I tried diff.radios both 1.57.xx and 1.65.xx.xx . Signal strength and sound is equally strong and clear, but 1.65.20.29 pulls the best life out of my battery so far. I live in GA.

Overall, great ROM. Highly recommended.
Thank you for you efforts and stamina and keep up the good work!

Instructions for flashing custom splash screens on HTC Kaiser:

1. Install HardSPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679).
2. Create a BMP file in paint, size must be 240x320, save it as BMP 24bit.
3. Download SplashTool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334904)
4. Load your BMP on nb_image_converter (included in SplashTool's zip) and save it as splash.nb
5. Open SplashTool.exe and convert splash.nb to new format.
6. Pack the resulting splash.nb into a NBH file using htc rom tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311909).
7. Flash your cusotm NBH using CustomRUU (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334890).

Enjoy your new splash screen! :D

Update: Looks like the sip issue is due to a Today plugin, disabled them all and now FIngerTouch works.

Update2:
Looks like WM6 cant have too many processes starting up at once. So, removing 2 today plugins did the trick.

Are u sure this is the case? WM6/6.1 on the HTC original roms (on all of which HTC_Home comes as default) handle multiple processes with relative ease. If HTC_Home pluging was the culprit for this (and many others reported) HTC would have removed the home pluging altogether - but they never did that.

v5 was the last "fully stable" Rom in my opinion. since then, it seems that bits are being compromised. HTC Home seems like it might be a step too far down possibly the wrong direction.

I am no expert on the development side of these phones, but maybe a change has inadvertently crippled something. might it be easier to go back to the last known good pnt and try the changes one by one to see which should stay?

As I said before, I noticed the D number on boot went from 3.29.00.00 down to 3.28.00.00.

What do you think?

Nowhere did I ever say that the sip issue is/was caused by HTC Home.

Perhaps you confused the fact that I don't like HTC Home with the sip problem I was troubleshooting on this ROM, which doesn't even have HTC Home on it!

Udate:
After working on this sip problem all day, I found that cLaunch causes add-in sips not to work.
Buh-Bye cLaunch !

NullKbd, perhaps the smallest sip ever made, causes all add-in sips to fail as well.

I've read alot today abaout WM6 not having enough ram allocated to handle Today plugins and SIPs (they share the same pool). I'm wondering if theres a fix (registry or bytehack). Anyone else familiar with this?

Looks like I'm going to just customize BatteryStatus to display clock,vm,mail, sms and program launcher icons.

It going to look bether in splash, try softing it a bit up on blur and resharpen edges. Then make the splash and see how it looks. It changes a bit on device you see. But you are getting there :D

Nowhere did I ever say that the sip issue is/was caused by HTC Home.

Perhaps you confused the fact that I don't like HTC Home with the sip problem I was troubleshooting on this ROM, which doesn't even have HTC Home on it!

my bad roto ; just thought that by 2day plugin you meant htc_home; sorry for the confusion.

Hey i was just wondering what plugin that is you have that allows you to put program icons on your today screen. I really like the way your whole today screen is set up. If you could tell me all the programs us use and im going to try to track them down. I already have samsung clock.

Thanks for the advice.
but no go with KaiserTweak, too. After reboot changes the registry status again to show SIM contacts.

And BTW advanced config has the feature, too.
Anyone experience the same issue?
Well, there is always PIM Backup to fix that, but I was just curious why is that?
yes I am having the same problem

So I'm not having any luck with the SIP issue. I have default IM installed and PCM Keyboard.

I can't get it to set as default or show up at all when selected. V5 I want to say I never had an issue with this. I've always used default im with all the different version of Pcm keyboard.

I've disabled all today plugins. removed all but one start up task and still no luck.
I don't have clauncher installed at all. The other thing installed is tomtom.

Any other ideas? I'm trying to think of another way to approach this. What was different in V5 vs this one?

Awesome rom.. My favorite of all your diamond releases. Gxmark scores are the highest my tilt has ever scored. Just a couple issue with the dialer and the sim contacts, but other than that, very good job. With your other roms, i've always had problems with the ringtones sticking, and the ability to silence calls. Anyways...thanks for the lite rom, I like to be able to customize myself ;)

Keep up the good work.

it seems like it is a never ending problem with every release..i was wondering since everyone havinf problem with sip. can we have roms that are all the sips built in? like 4 different rom with 4 different sips.. like diamond on one, pcm on the other one, resco on the other as defaults..would it fix everything? or better yet is there an expert to solve this issue?

This sip issue is a pain :) I just switched to dynamic pagepool to see how that works out. Initially, after loading up my plugins and the FingerTouch sip, It was no dice as usual. Then, I realized I have Weather Panel set to download a huge satellite image. I disabled the image download, soft reset and BAM! The sip worked.

So far, the botom line is that there is a limited shared resource of memory for sips and plugins that if exceeded, the sips wont load.

Thats all for now. Please, someone, prove me wrong and come up with a fix :)

Heres my Today screen, just WeatherPanel and BatteryStatus:

ok so if its a resource issue what has changed from v5 of this build to this release? V5 let me install PCM Keyboard with 0 issues. The only logical thing to me is some new dll that has been thrown in to improve performance isn't playing well with the SIP manager.

I'm with you on that! I don't think its a SIP manager issue, but a memory one, as if this ROM allocates less memory than the V5 ROM did. Specifically shell32.exe.

Someone has to know for sure.

your right about someone has to know a little more than us about whats causing this. I work with a guy that cooks for a different HTC but all the same in theory. I'm going to run this by him Monday if we still haven't figured it out.

Until then.. I'm still wondering.. I know a good amount about windows in general but not mobile. I'm going to see what info I can find out about window mobile resources that should help narrow down the issue.

InU 12.94 ------------------30.27
Free 115.10 ----------------49.03

The bugs most of users facing are:

Input selection, SIM contacts, Dialler

All the 3 can be handled with Easytweak

download a trial from
http://www.10gsoft.com/shop10g/catalog/

or fully cracked from you all know where.

You can tweak input types, Hide/ Unhide sim contacts
Remove Operater dialer skin, so the ROM gets default dialer skin and JOG wheel mutes the ringer
You can even display date/ time in top bar instead of battery
Make PIE download 8 files at a time, let it behave as IE6,
Tweak calender
Tweak SMS notifications etc.
You can display any picture as your operater's LOGO even

You don't need a full version, a trial can be used 3 times, I've never ised it more than once for one ROM Install

Install it on S Card and after next ROM update you need not install it again, its there in
\program files\easytweak2 folder on your storage card

NO I'm not from Easytweak, I'm a user and found it is useful for the bugs (rather tweaks) people require for this ROM

Any way L26 nice work but Hyperdragon III give 70MB of Program Memory and 120 MB of free Storage and your LITE version takes it upto 49 MB only.

IT is fast and smooth but with multiple tabs in PIE with PIEplus, it sinks

Pls resolve for MOREProgram Memory

Good work

Good work

Dinesh

More program memory and Diamond ROM base is key to stable use of TyTN II at present, it seems

Hi Leo,

1st post, but just saying excellent ROM my matey. I tried your V7 after being on Sleuth's 3.1 for ever, & must say, good improvements all round. V8 just gets better:)

Just on this IGO lark. I have done a bit of playing & it seems to be the program memory that cannot handle it. If I run it on a virgin install, then with A-GPS disabled, it will start & run, albeit not quite as fast as I expect. the problem is when you load any other software on it.

If I check the program memory when I install everything & fire Igo8 up, I have less than 3mb. It would appear that when running it is using almost 35mb of memory. My memory left at this moment, with all my programs on is 38mb. When you start TomTom, it hardly even shifts, so I would say it is a program error for consuming so much memory.

Yes, I know the WM6.1 have less memory available, but for one program to use so much. Don't get me wrong, if you do fix it, you will be like Royalty to the masses. For what it is worth, I have tried a few other WM6.1 based roms, just for comparison, & they all appear to be the same, ie clean install, then loaded up.

Having a look on another site, 1 guy seemed to point the finger at the way IGO8 loads all your contacts into the program. He said, if he allowed the program to do this, it got slower & slower, eventually becoming corrupt & not even starting. he removed all his contacts & reckoned it was a useable program.

I dont use HTC home, so have no ideas on this part. Sorry guys!!

Just my 2 pence worth. keep up the good work,

Shane

Hi,

After my holiday I will look into this anoying IGO thingy.
It must run on this version, only some people don't know how to acomplish this. Also it would be sweet if people tell which version of IGO they are running.

Because it's impossible to make wm6.1 compatible with all versions of IGO isn't?

Thanks for your help,

Leo

Hello

I've flashed Diamond_v8 and I have problem with WorldCard Mobile. In version v5 everything was OK. Since Diamond_v6 version, when I try to launch visit card scanning in WCM there is communicate
"The handle is invalid. Ec:6;HR:0x80004005". And the WCM doesn't work.
Do anybody have the same problem? Do you know how to fix it?

thanks a lot!

when I used it for other roms, it is the same thing..if i uninstall it the sound get higher again..sound mods can be done on the players available, TCPMP, mortplayer or core..sad thing is even after unchecking it on settings sound is bad..and I can't uninstall it, because it is cooked in..

v5 was the last "fully stable" Rom in my opinion. since then, it seems that bits are being compromised.

Just me perhaps.

Leo could you perhaps please post a chef friendly v5 ?

i was playing around with the device after installing v8. i've run tomtom and after fixing on signal i minimized the program. i then run igo8 to my amazement it did. i then took it for a ride with tomtom running and igo minimized, all went well. voices from both software run also at the same time. oh wait i have another program (miomap v3.2). i tried loading the program, alas, it didn't. but wait, i played around, i can mix and match, i can run two gps programs at the same time. there are no glitches or slowdown on the programs and i received call at the same time.

note:
agps is on
gxmark from 1558 down to 1500 (two gps program running)

cheers!

The bugs most of users facing are: Input selection, SIM contacts, Dialler
All the 3 can be handled with Easytweak

These are big issues for me as well, and sadly this ROM still has them. I tried EasyTweak but it kept on crashing on me. I then tried SKTools, using Input Method menu to set the SIP I want as default but that did not work, which is a great pity because I really like the look and feel of this ROM!!!!!

Any way L26 nice work but Hyperdragon III give 70MB of Program Memory and 120 MB of free Storage and your LITE version takes it upto 49 MB only. Pls resolve for MOREProgram Memory...
I don't see how you can get more Prog memory while cooking in lots of default apps into your ROM. Sakajati's ROMs are lite, really really lite (no Office, no .NET CF, no Task Manager etc etc) which is why they default at ~ 70MB Prog Memory so I don't think it's fair to expect the same from a ROM (Leo's or anybody else's for that matter) that has a bit more standard apps pre-installed...Leo maybe just change your LITE title to say excl HTCHome. This may be the basis of Dinesh's comparison to other lite versions...

Yeah, exactly and again not fair to do the comparison because of different cooking "techniques" and "ingredients" but collaboration/exchanging notes on some sticky ROM issue by Dutty and Leo sounds exciting, but that's up to them! :D

OK, not sure what Leo has done with V8 but at least the infamous lag we always used to see in changing the screen from portrait to landscape (& vice versa) is completely gone. the screen shifts robustly in less than a millesecond ! I had never seen such phenomenon since I got the kaiser 3/5 years ago. am really wondering what video tweak is responsible for this - i'm truly flabbergasted.

and yes, i have HTC_Home (and HTC Home Customizer ... and loads of other things installed) but the stability and vigorousness of my kaiser on Leo's V8 is suspiciously great :D

Leo donnation is in order today. Thanks for the beautiful rom.

Hi,
just flashed to V8 yesterday evening, because i read something about a new bluetooth stack in the v7 thread. I suppose its still in the V8.
I am using BT on my MDA mainly for listening to music through a sony HBH-ds980 stereo headset in combination with MSVC. I was suprised to see CVC and WOW still in the ROM. But it was moved to postinstall so i could remove it easily and replace with just MSVC.
After installing my usual cab stuff (with the new 4.6 SASHIMI) i experience the following when i press the VC button it accepts and executes commands as usual, but most of the time the stereo headset looses its connection. Its easy to reconnect (just press the play button), but its not how it is supposed to work.
Also tried a bit of browsing with PIE but most of the time i get freezes.
Tried change SIP with default IM selector and sipchanger, but no luck (I used PCMkeyboard).
Gps fix took about a minute or two in google maps and TomTom.

I think i like the light version, but i hope there will be a more stable release in the near future.

Keep up the good work L26.

I'll be honest... I'm a big fan (and user) of dutty's but the sheer number of posts about iGo 8 intrigued me. I gave it a go, and sure enough, it crashed my phone.

Determined, I saw this release and flashed accordingly. Good news: iGo 8 finally works. Bad news: I've never seen Microsoft Error Reporting appear so frequently!

My phone is now as sluggish as hell. Changing the cache to "Auto" helped, but it slows down a lot. I'd still like to replace TomTom at some point because it's looking very dated, but the sheer amount of fuss you have to give to iGo 8 just to function WILL waste hours of your life.

After rom flashing and connection setup done, I installed DefaultIM and PCMKeyboard. Set DefaultIM to PCMKeyboard. SR, and PCMKeyboard is the SIP. Great!

Proceeded to install Resco Explorer 2008 and the registry plug-in. SR, and boots up wih WM default Keyboard. Even installing SIPChange doesn't help, before SR and after SR.

I'm not complaining, in fact, at least I have WM Keyboard now, and HTC Home is gone and for that, I really appreciate it. On the other hand, PCMKeyboard cannot stay as SIP after installing of other apps, that is sad.

Another point to highlight is in V6, V7 and V8, I think after I installed SIPChange, and later uninstall it, it still remains in rom. In the case of Voice Commander, it was in V6, cannot be uninstall. In V7 & V8, it was supposed to be able to uninstall but after uninstalling it, it is still present, even after SR.

Hope the above information will be useful for you Leo. Thanks.

In advancedConfig, increase the Glyph Cache to 128k, then let AdvancedConfig soft reset. It appears to work for me and I'd like to see if that works for anyone else.

Edit: Nevermind. Whats odd is that I rebooted 6 times and the addin sip stayed, then I reset the GlyphCache to 1k, reset then the sip failed to load, then went back to 128k and its still failing. Ugh.

Edit: I notice 2 things: If I get a cell signal before the today plugins load AND I wait or the cpu to become Idle after the Today plugins load, then the SIP works. With Glyph Cache to 128k.

Anyone running L26_V5 want to export HKLM/Init for me?
