It looks like 900mAh is a joke for more or less serious use. Does anyone know when the extended batteries will be available.

Will there ever be one available??

Read the specification on the box and it states 285HRS standby..

Thats a DARM JOKE..

I charged my phone till 8am morning. (Full Bar)
Send 20 SMS and miss 2 phone calls.. Never use any voice call.
Bluetooth/Wifi/Infra totally disable.
4pm.. I left with only half bar..
So i believe the phone dont even survive for 24hrs!

So how the hell did they get that can of standby time..

I seem to be managing pretty well so far, full charge lasts about a day & a half, but only light to medium use. I noticed after I got it my batt life got better and better each time I charged it. Seems to have leveled off now.

I still think the manufacturers specs are rubbish though!!! but for a 900mAh battery and VGA screen etc. it doesn't do too bad.

do you turn you phone off? just the screen offcourse, with the power button?
and do you close all your programs after running? how about weather application? is 3g turned off? do you see a G or H sign above the signal strength?

i think if you do not use your phone, but put it on the table and look at it, you might be able to look at it for 285 hours.
talking time is only 5,5 hours. so that is quite accurate.

after 5 hours my battery goes from full charge to 20%:
- gprs/umts/hdspa syncs every 5 minutes (poll 5minutes, sync 10min)
- used mp3 player for about 15 minutes
- 4 minutes call received
- 2 manual syncs with other pop3 server

memory use between 60-70%

some tweaks would be nice

edit: that's funny, after a soft reset the device shows now 4 blocks (30%)

yes, you are constantly using 3g networks. that takes a lot of power. read the forum to find solutions for this (automatically disconnect etc)

i know it uses battery..
I used already: qtek 9100, 4350, tytn, touch dual.

All this devices run on battery more then 1 day(same sync settings)
The diamond needs 5-6 hours!
probably these futures use al lot of battery:
- 3D controller
- the processor and memory

energy saving features?

Some other question even though I think the batterylife sucks :(. How do I really turn GPRS OFF. When I don't have WLAN it turns on GPRS and I don't have free internet yet, so it might get quite expensive. Tried the prog "Advanced Config", but nothing there to help me. Maybe something in the registry?

Also on Expansys (which is where the official site sends you to for your orders anyway).
£40 though! Should be available cheaper than HTC/Expansys somewhere else soon I hope.

I said official battery on HTC Accessories site, not official site if we're being picky. If the HTC Europe site is displaying this (its accessed through the HTC Home page and nowhere else), regardless of who manages the site etc, how much more official can you get? Could you suggest any other place apart from the HTC site that would be official HTC information?
Be interested to hear. Full marks for finding out the domain information though. Give yourself a gold star.

Hi, I rang them for more info today and they don't even have a date for when it will be in stock. Wouldn't expect an answer to your question to soon unfortunately. It seems that no supplier will be selling extended batteries for a while. Spoke with Expansys and they have no timescales yet for their smaller version battery (1340mah or thereabouts). M

No, the docking station comes with 2 inserts one for each. They will also be doing individual inserts as extras.

The desciption on the accessories website for it says:
"This cradle comes with two inserts (the plastic holders) for Touch Diamond and Touch Diamond extended battery which are also sold seperately HTC Touch Diamond Desktop Cradle Insert, HTC Touch Diamond Desktop Cradle Insert (for Extended Battery) if you need the spare ones."

Hi guys , i'm new to the forum and searched around quite a lot but still wasn't able to find the info i need. so , sorry if it's already been brought up but here goes... :

I am considering buying the xda diamond from o2germany but want the phone to have the original looks. So , if i buy the extended 1340 mah battery with the included back cover i am theoretically getting the "diamond" looks AND extra battery life. Now , my question is , are the htc's and xda's models identical , e.g. , would the htc back cover fit the xda body? Moreover , are there any other differencies between the two , regarding software , functions or anything else?
I'd appreciate it if someone does answer this in the next couple of days , cause i can't wait much longer .. :)) thanks in advance

laporte
3rd July 2008, 09:21 AM
the back cover isn't the only difference.

you got another hardware-branding on the front and on the sides, so if you by a xda you never will become the original look. but you will save some money :-)

additional there a some softwarebrandings on the xda, but that souldn't be the problem if you are willed to update/flash your xda with some cooked or original rom from this forum. BUT: you will loose you warranty with flashing. in case of emergency you will need to flash back to the original o2 version, whitch ist not possible for this moment. may take a while until some genius poeple here find out how to do that. until then, you will have to accept the risk...

JanDaMan
3rd July 2008, 04:48 PM
errr are you even sure its even the same dimensions as the HTC branded model? it may be, but i know the T-Mobile version of this phone will be wider etc... so check on that b4 buying

i am high percantage sure that the models have exact same dimension.
but i will check saturday at work if the cover from xda fits htc vice versa.

the t-mobile mda looks a little bit different, but because of the full metal frame i think there can't be great differences??

I am not sure but i think this one http://www.cyberport.de/item/2/1/0/111970/item.html is not thicker than the normal battery!

You must be aware that there are some Chinese swindler companies that sell as "extended" batteries the original ones simply re-labeled with "bigger" label (and then European/US internet resellers resell them without actually checking). You must do good checks in this case that battery of same size is indeed of advertised capacity.

The fact sheet says 1100 mAh. Still, the label on the battery (click the picture) shows "1500 mAh". Strong point for Ingvarr's argument.

this is a battery for htc pharos, falsely listed for diamond, too. there were many shops listing this battery for diamond, few stayed. but the battery definitely does not fit into a diamond!

Has anyone bought and received an extended battery from these guys? I placed an order a couple of days ago and have not heard a word since. When I try to use their order tracker the email gets returned. I am just wondering if I have been scammed.

the reason i love this phone is becasue it is very thin.
Now the battery life is an issue. But adding an extended batter which is thicker and a back cover, would mess up the look of the phone. Is there any other battery of same size that is a bit more powerfull? I looked at raphael's battery it seems to be better than the diamond one.

Ingvarr
16th July 2008, 02:13 PM
Raphael battery is of bigger size. Raphael is almost 2 times thicker, so they have additional space for a bigger battery here.

On Diamond official extended battery is exactly the same as Raphael standard one, but they have thicker back cover with it.

That looks like aftermarket battery and cover as the hole for the camera looks round and not with the grey diamond shape around the lense.

Guys on ebay you can get two two 900mh batterys for £7 including shipping making a grand total of ... you guessed it three. So if you dont mind swapping out and carrying the extra cells then it's also an option.

+1 what pinksox says. and a quick look on ebay, it's swamped with charging docks that can also charge a 2nd battery as well, so no need for swapping batteries out. at least for the sake of recharging.

has anyone noticed this? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HTC-O2-XDA-TOUCH-DIAMOND-P3700-EXTENDED-1800mAh-BATTERY_W0QQitemZ170242231448QQihZ007QQcategoryZ75 446QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItem

Looks to me it's the same as the other one. It's just photographed from a better angle but that's it. Look at the camera hole it's exactly the same. In this picture they don't want to show its thickness while in the other photo from a page back they want to show off the shinyness.

Just received by expansys.it the original HTC extended battey with cover .
The battery is on charge and i will send you my impressions about battery life and pics of the battery.
As first impression there is only a minimal difference in thickness from the standard cover.

Thanks

Yes, its quite tight though. Made it quite loose for the regular battery so I got another case as a spare.

Just received the extended battery from expansys. The Diamond just looks a little bit thicker but feels a bit heavier than before. Anyway Diamond stills looks thiner than most other devices available except the coming Touch HD.

Hi,

I received my official extended battery from Expansys 3 days ago.
The new back cover is indeed way better than the original one. It fits better in the hand and has a rubber feeling. I must admit that the first day I was a little bit disapointed because my diamond felt heavier and thicker. But now after 3 days I can really confirm that i'm already used to the extra weight and the extra thickness.
The most important with that 1340Mah battery is that I can finally use my Diamond a whole day wihout recharging it!
I use +- 1hours of HSDPA surf every day + some gprs radio, gps, +-1 hour calls etc.. and the phone is really lasting longer.
The battery is really lasting longer but I still have to recharge it on a daily basis.

I really recommend this battery if you are a heavy user.

has anyone seen or bought this 2000 mah battery? specs and images look fantastic, especially the back cover:

http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/17413.htm

The back cover looks like the genuine HTC cover for the extended 1340 mah (the BP E270) which means this 2000 mah battery is no thicker than the BP E270:

http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/16941.htm

Covers look the same ...

I can't see a brand name in the image, they just quote "Power-Cell". Could be of high quality though as I can't explain the price otherwise ... or maybe the back-cover is indeed the genuine HTC one. In any case, it is tempting.

Cheers

I just spoke with mobilefun.co.uk on the phone and they were incredibly helpful and nice. They said they'll call back after they check the warehouse ... and they did! They actually measured the whole thing and described the battery and the back case! this is what they said:

The Diamond with the new battery and cover is 17 mm thick.

They said the battery is indeed of high quality and that if i'm not happy with the performance then they will offer a full refund or an exchange.

The battery is about 9.5-10 mm thick and pretty hefty they said.

The back cover is not the original HTC BP E270 but hear this: the cover is all flat along the TD (not like the ones with a hump where the battery is) and feels solid and high quality. I actually prefer a flat back-cover so that the TD becomes more usable when sitting on a desk.

The camera hole is a conic inset and he said it should not cause any bottom shades in pictures from the looks of it (like some of the hump covers do).

All in all, it sounds good to me but I'm eagerly waiting for liamhere's feedback (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2739093) and pictures :)
