hi Friends,

i´m waiting for the samsung i900 omnia.....wait...wait..the best wm phone ever..see the specs (google it) or :

http://samsungomnia.org/reviews
http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=AGcatrxh2vA

and my question is:

is possible use s2u2 in that phone because the resolution is WQVGA 240x400 pixel.

so software like s2u2, s2p, s2v and other software like tomtom, is compatible or not?

thaks for the great work people in this forum.

NOTE: and is time to increse this forum to other phone thade marks phones (not only htc) more and more.

Remenber , diversity is wallways better for the consumer, for the final user

let`s talk of everything related Samsung Omnia

Since its just been released in Singapore you probably wont see too much talk about it here. Try this site www.ppcsg.com for a lot more info.

the new ui looks a bit janky and the screen resolution is weird

thats my objection to it
other than that, lovely

I don't like Samsung too much, but the Omnia looks like a great phone - the new Marvell PXA320 processor running up to 800 MHz (stock speed) will be great choice for performance :)

why is everyone going for an inferior phone? the Omnia only has QVGA. Why not just buy the HTC Diamond which is VGA?

Basically, the touch diamond has it myriad of problems at the moment, In terms of hardware and form factor, I'd go for the Samsung. Basically, the widescreen 3.2" screen is a main factor, as well as the nice hardware on it. The diamond has a cool UI, and that's all it has. Plus Touchflo still has issues, 3D drivers not working to their full potential...etc...

HTC needs to start making devices and stop writing software, they are a good ODM, plus oh please, stop being another microsoft and give us buggy software with every new phone launch.

Screen resolution alone does not make a good phone, are you implying that phones like the TyTN II, Touch Cruise, Samsung i780 and Nokia N-series are inferior because they dont have VGA screens? How about the fact that the Diamond has no storage card slot, or has a 3.2MP camera does that make it inferior to the Omnia? VGA is desireable but not necessary so just because a phone does not have it does not make it inferior.

Did everyone see my post on Diamond vs Omnia? Here's a indepth review of both phones head-to-head and with lots of pictures.

I thought I might be leaning towards the Touch Pro (Diamond out of the question) but now, I think I'm contemplating the Omnia. The camera review on the same site is great too (Vs. SE X1, Pro, Diamond).

1 thing i don't like is why the settings for the camera's contrast, saturation and sharpness
doesn't stay the way i set it?
Everytime i go back into camera, i have to set it again before taking a pic? weird.

Bad news then, because Microsoft normaly don't send the Tomtom voice to any handsfree device (including cd radio car player with integrated bt)...bye bye Samsung.

Any way, thanks for your info.

Most WM devices since the release of WM5 have used the WM stack, there may be a few exceptions but the norm has been to use the BT stack.

Well, Asus and LG are using Broadcomm/Widcomm bt stack, wich can do sending absolute all sound to any handsfree device when needed, without holding active the bt, only connect when needed.

Microsoft bt stack is sending only phone calls. If you want to send all sounds, you must to use third party software that let a permanent open channel to your handsfree, bad very bad.

i900 is not the best WM Phone.
HTC Touch Pro is the best all-in-1 WM Phone now.
Also, Samsung material quality is very terrible & cheap.

16th July 2008, 10:55 AM
really sina?

I found the i780 to be much much better in build quality than the Touch Dual i had for a short time. Also, the i-mate I use now is much better material wise.

All in all I think the HTC cases are horrible. somehow they don't get the battery/back covers right. they squeak and don't always fit 100%. And have you may read the reports of badly assembled Diamonds? parts not aligned perfectly, lose magnets, etc...

build quality is a major point to chose samsung windows mobile phones for me. I am currently considering getting the i780 after i could play with it. but only if the i900 doesn't appear soon here:)

Ingvarr

HTC assembly quality is really became bad. It was good from the start, but that started to change about 2-1 years ago.
It seems that more "mass-oriented" they make their devices, more quality they stretch so it becomes quite thin ;)

Btw, Touch Pro is from entirely different league. I dont want qwerty slider for instance. And anyway its not released yet, just wait until it will and then read all the forums over quality complaints...

Does anyone know if by changing the theme you can also change the icons in the samsung menu or does it only change the colors of the task bar? The reason I ask is becuase I don't like the different colored icons used and wish they were all the same color or a different style. I hope some clever fellow will be able to create a new icon set for this phone. That would be amazing. Is this possible?

I recently got a hold of an unlocked 16GB SGH-i900 Omnia. The phone is excellent in every regard except for 3G reception, which I can't seem to get on at&t. I think this may be caused by a ROM incompatibility with a US 3G network. at&t tells me their 3G is on the 2100Mhz radio band. The Omnia is HSDPA compatible on the 850 and 1900Mhz bands in the US.

Anyone have any suggestions?

because as I underestood there is no need to CID the OMNIA before flashing a different ROM , but I ve read that a lot of users bricked their OMNIAs trying to flash a new ROM.

The one I have is not an operator branded one.

What's your OMNIA software version?
The SG official updater supports only DX region.

But it is easy to fix it for your region.

Jes, u didn't check it before you buy? Samsung will be releasing a seperate 3G version of OMNIA for America market.

Think you'll need to wait for the OMNIA to be official launch in the States, and then pay$ and get your unit flash to US rom. :)

Hey,

got my Omnia yesterday! It's great! But I have a small problem. When I want to watch big videofiles (xvid), TouchPlayer (integated) gives an Error.

I installed CorePlayer 1.22 and it worked great, but now Coreplay won't start...? Any suggestions what to do? Is there a newer version of Coreplayer then 1.22??

this happens if you don't exit coreplayer but just click the upper x-button. coreplayer is still running and trying to start it again fails. to solve the problem just soft reset and from now on exit coreplayer in the menu...

Solution here was to update to Version 1.2.5! Works fine on my Omnia!:)

so far just little activity there but I hope this will change...

and no - I don't have any relationship to these guys, just looking for ONE place to discuss the best WM phone so far!

if anybody has another idea where to discuss the Omnia please post the link - I haven't found any other place (except some sites in Singapore with little useful information)!

I think the way not to work.
Because the updater check the first 6 char of your OMNIA's ROM version string.
To modify the version string or comparering length, you can avoid the check.

Hello,

I got the Omnia about three weeks ago. Everything is great, except a BIG HEAVY FLAW is the screen. No vga, not very brilliant looking (brightness w/ good contrast), and heavily washed out in sunlight.

No keyboard was ok for me even I was going from an HTC Advantage to this...but the screen is terrible. I am almost wondering if a 3rd party should make a bright, readable in sunlight (better transreflective screen I suppose), vga screen for this as a mod for $200 and then they can take the old screen and sell it to somebody else somehow. That is the ONLY flaw....but it is a big one.

Now I am waiting for the xperia...which doesn't seem to have as good a camera, but I don't care for that much and though it's screen is 0.2 inches smaller, atleast its wvga! and hopefully it will be nice/bright and readable as well.

I doubt any wm6 phone screen has ever been as nice as the iphone screen, but that's what we really need in these wm6 phones.

Hi ckmcsk,
can you do me a favor? can you copy vibetonz.exe found in windows folder in your rom? and post it here? the G4 rom have the haptic feedback quite heavily crippled and i lost the ability for it to vibrate on every screen, which sucks for typing sms now.. i tried changing registry and everything still can find nothing.. so i think it is to do with this file.. if you can pleasssseeee post it for me so i can try out for the others if this solve the problems of cippled haptics.. thanks

Here is the vibeTonz.exe file but renamed as .zip Hope it helps to restore the haptic feel on newer rom

I have some questions regarding Samsung Omnia and I hope you guys out there are able to help with it.In addition, I am still a newbie.

1)How can I change my homescreen as I heard there are 3 different types of homescreens available?
or any other suggestion that I can change my Skins/Wallpapers and Icons for Omnia?
2) Where can I download free Chinese software and games for Omnia?
(or where can I purchase games in Singapore?)
3) Is it normal that Omnia hangs frequently while using it?
4)I have problems figuring out the GPS(NAV fone)provided, how can I set my location and look out for my maps?plus sometimes it says "GPS not fix" (I know nothing about GPS setting)
5)Can I add more options to my widget?
6)Can exe format files work in Omnia?
7) How can I multi-delete songs/pictures/videos in file explorer or any suggestion?
8)I couldnt send all selected items by bluetooth, is that a problem?
9) Is there any different when using Opera, Internet explorer and google?

I deeply appreciate your opinion and help!

I think the way not to work.
Because the updater check the first 6 char of your OMNIA's ROM version string.
To modify the version string or comparering length, you can avoid the check.

Good luck :)

Can you clarify on this? Would be nice to know how to ignore the version check.

Hello all,

i've read there something quite boring :

Feature | Diamond | Omnia
ROM Update | Always (Xda Dev) | Seldom

Does it mean, that our beloved xda dev wont give us some nice Roms for our omnias ?
I've tryied the diamond for a week and i decided to send it back in order to buy the Omnia... it was a very hard choice... and i wonder if i haven't make the right choice !

Out of curiosity, which shop allows you to try a phone for a week, then have it exchanged against another?

Hi, let me answer some of your questions:
for Q 1. go to setting-personal-today-items. you can choose what plugin in
for Q3. i have no issue with my phone. what ROM version you are using?
for Q5. do not think so.
for Q9. there are lots of differences but i prefer Opera the most.

You may want to go to here http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showforum=16 for more info.

Hello to all, pardon for my writing in English, I am of Argentinean. I want to know if somebody samples some game that utilize the acelerometro in the samsung omnia. It intrigues me that nobody speaks of that. Not even of programs or novel applications that work in the omnia. Does so little importance give to these things? Please users and fortunate possessors of the samsung omnia comment on this topic. And programmers and creators of games and applications for pocket pc put piles and a lot of force to develop good and novel applications for this marvel. greetings to all.

Not a shop, directly from my provider ( SFR : France ). When you order through the webshop, you've got one week to make your decision... Mostly due to a french law...

Hi

I've had the Omnia for 10 days now. It took a LOT of playng and tweaking (as I like a very complicated device), but, I officially have a full bloated Omnia, with beautiful skins, GPS, apps, etc... and, all is working perfect. I do introduce it to my friends with iPhones, as their phone on steroids. Although, I do have to reset maybe twice a day, due to maybe one screen hang, and, one EDGE hang. But, that's WM, at least for the EDGE hang - has happened with me with T-Mo USA, on every WM device I've had. But, I've never had a WM device, I can watch Slingbox, open a couple of apps like office, take and make a few calls, receive and send a few messages, and NOT have to reset!

The Omnia is by far the best Windows mobile phone ever. And, being a connoisseur of design, it is an enjoyable device to look at, and others to see - means a lot to me during my day.

And, everyone keeps talking about how the lower rez screen is a deal killer. Can't it be true that it not being 640x480, help make the battery life as good as it is on this device? (and, it IS good). No on eseems to have thought of that as the reson. I think this is the tradeoff Samsung decided on, and, I am all in favor of it.

I think it is very useable, and I feel no resolution is missing - AND, unlike the HTC Diamonds, and Touch pros and things, it is a nice, luxuriously big screen. And, unlike all other WM devices (for me), will LAST a day of rigorous use.

If everything of i900 has made all of You're being happy then this's OK, but there's one thing, to my opinion, is make this device being the top when the Samsung's programmer link the (internal) memory storage to the 16G (or 8G) of "My Storage"

If You're using the WM for awhile, then You know that the default of installed programs and the documents is in memory storage, but this storage is very limited due to flash memory installed in our devices. Now, Samsung has intergrated the flash memory to 16G but, unfortunately, it's still a part of external memory like the add-on SD card, and then when the Samsung add more programs to the rom (like upgraded-rom G4), the internal memory storage is being shrunk and if You have the Outlook data (Calendar, contact...) of about 10 years of working, your pim.vol will take a big part and leave a little room for your desired appz...

I understand that, some of our member said, move the installed programs to My Storage, but with some programs like SPB Mobile Shell, and the other... should be in the internal memory. Even some programs, we installed to My Storage, but some of DLLs of this program still puts its to the Windows directory and the result is some day, we don't have enought memory of the other documents like messages....

With the knowledge and programming skill of Samsung, I wonder to know why don't they link or expanded the internal memory to 16G while, I remember, our Brothers in XDA-Developers forum can do the good job on HX-4700.

With the advertising of i900 with 16G, I think, it's a tricky to make competition with iPhone and leading to our mis-undertanding that the memory storage is 16G, but actually, it's just the external memory like SD card and create a lot trouble for new users and the headache for our experienced users.

With me, this problem should be solved by Samsung and we have to wait for year to years but if, our brother in XDA-Developer put their hands (the mod-rom), then just about a month, this device is being perfect.

For my wish, please our brothers take a look and give us a hand to make our wish (I hope) to be true...

Thanks so much...

KC

Yep its best PPC I have owned, GPS with Tomtom is flawless, camera is very acceptable quality, 16GB flash memory is ample also can expand storage another 16GB, thats massive! Plus it has a built in optical mouse pad I find it very useful, oh and it an power off unlike any PPC I owned before.
Samsung really did a great job with design, feel and packing in all the functionality, its really a pleasure to use. I only wish device with big LCD and many features can have a battery that lasts longer and one criticism I have is battery life, its terrible and takes 2+ hrs to fully charge, also if using GPS and car charger is connected the battery cannot sustain the drain rate to charge rate, thus, battery dies even though connected to power sorce, a huge huge design flaw IMHO.

Can you clarify on this? Would be nice to know how to ignore the version check.

If you want to cook OMNIA ROM safely,
you must disasemble the updater and patch to avoid several checks.
And there are two different version of the DXHG4 updater at least.

But only avoiding the version check does not need to disasemble.
Please look the updater with a binary editor at own yourself.
It's not a hard work.

Ofcourse, I already have cooked OMNIA ROM.

It is surely possible, however, you should be realistic about quality when compared to dvd, HD, PC, camcorder, etc. If you plan to buy this device soley based around TV output and you have expectations that it will compare to any of the above then save your money.
If however you want a great WinMo thats well built and has functionality then Omnia has it!

As I go around to my clients, I have just a few slides to show. I don't need anything spectacular, just readable coming from a projector. It would save me from carrying a laptop. Having a usable tv out would just about complete my needs as an "all around" device.

I will look in to skin ThrottleLauncher for I900. It should not be too hard but I need some time to get used to this new device. I have also the I780 which I like very much. I will share the skinned version when I have it. Will look even better with the icons at the bottom.

I'm quite certain the rom is not WWE, you can refer to the following website for details. Perhaps use google translator.

Grand prix is the flasher for i900, like the mirage tool (by le55) is for i780.

I'm quite certain the rom is not WWE, you can refer to the following website for details. Perhaps use google translator.

http://www.pocketpt.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=23686

I really wish you well in your search for a better solution.

Anyone been able to use the grandprix tool? It doesn't detect my phone. Does it have to be in bootloader mode?

I believe it should be the same way how the mirage tool works. Should be in bootloader mode.

Note: I do not have a Omnia, but did take a look at the grandprix.

Detection went fine on my machine: I just flashed my German omnia with the XCHG5 rom by using the GrandPrix Flasher and switching my phone in Bootloader mode.
Unfortunately, the rom posted by Texture is a Spanish rom :(
Does anyone have a flashable English or French rom for the Omnia?

Cheers!

My first post... Hope adding to this thread is preferred rather than starting a new one. I have used Search and even Google does not provide the below info. :p

I have been looking for the specifications and availability of the TV-Out Cable for the Samsung i900 Omnia (hence, with S20pin interface). It seems to be the same as for the D880, G600 and U900: AATCS10CBEC. Only the Samsung Mobile India site is listing this accessoire on http://in.samsungmobile.com/accessory/AATCS10. Googling this product code shows that the cable is not widely available, yet, but found in some Turkish, Greek and German internet shops.

Please note that the other TV-Out Cables from Samsung Mobile (i.e. http://uk.samsungmobile.com/accessory/ATC011, http://uk.samsungmobile.com/accessory/ATC012 and http://uk.samsungmobile.com/accessory/ATC020) are probably not compatible with the Omnia due to the different interface.

With regard to other cables (e.g. chargers, sync cables, wired headphones), at least the following phone models seem to be using the S20pin interface as well: C450, D880, F210, F250, G600, G800, I450, I550, I560, I780, J700, M600, L760, P520 and U900. Hence, their accessoires might well fit on the Omnia, too.

Hope this is useful to you. Please do let know if any of the above details are incorrect, as I do not have the Omnia myself, yet, so not able to test/verify it.

Cheers,

DaZelator.

My guess is it is a Portuguese rom. And when I went to the pocketpt website, there is a link available which leads to the G4 rom.

What need to do before using Grandprix to flash the phone:

Install active sync(XP or 2003) or WDC(Vista or 2008).
Install the samsung Modem driver, you can get it from here, click the second button:
http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/omnia/sg/sub02_xp.jsp
http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/omnia/sg/sub02_Vista.jsp

Then you can start the Grandprix.

If you use Vista, disable UAC first, or you'll get an error messege when start the Grandprix :OpenSCManager failed (5)

Load the correct rom file ,and click detect.
Make sure your phone is turned off. Then plug in the usb cable, your phone will auto start shortly. If not ,press the start button on the phone.
After first screen shows on the phone , Grandprix will detect the connection and auto start the upgrade.

I've tested several rom versions, all work perfect.

If someone need the Vista version of Grandprix, i will upload it.

gOOndu which file did you try to extract? The exe is just the updater from Samsung Singapore. Yes big file I DL it too. I just don't have the guts to change my phone settings to SG to use the updater and then take a chance on a brick with the G4 ROM. I might take a chance if they change the updater to v H1.

Bob, I doubt seriously it is just an updater tool only. It has to contain the rom file as well. I was just trying my luck to split the updater exe file, hoping I can get the various files that was compiled into the exe file. Unfortunately, it was not done it in this way.

based on the file name, the second one should be in English language. I guess.

I gave up after the report of both being Chinese. I have now sucessfully upgraded to G4 English ROM. I used the code to change my setting to Singapore then used the updater to flash. The only problem I almost had was I forgot to install the modem driver. But I got lucky I still had the I780 modem driver and it installed with no problem. I took the risk as many people have not been lucky with this ROM. I live within 2 miles of the Service center and still have my I780 so I said what the heck. Not to many changes still hope for a H1 soon. I'm leaving the phone as a Singapore settings in case there is another update.

No can do, but i notice that for the hg8 version, there is no check done, unlike the hg4. I did connect my i780 for both updater, the hg4 will verify your phone before downloading, while the hg8 does not do such check. I almost wanted to press the start button.... haha...

Bob, by the way, would you be so kind to help me dump your rom? It is pretty easy to do so. It won't damage your phone. :)
However, if you feel the slightest discomfort, it is okay. I understand... :) hehe...

Sure no problem. Besides your dump rom is always your backup.

1. Okay first you will need to download the itsutils tools (http://nah6.com/~itsme/itsutilsbin-20080313.zip).
2. Unzip the contents of itsutils.zip on c:\itsutils
3. Connect your Omnia to PC using the cable, and make sure ActiveSync is running
3. In your pc, press Start (bottom left had corner of your laptop / pc) -> click "run" -> and type "cmd.exe" without the quotes
4. in command prompt, change your directory using "cd c:\itsutils" without the quotes.
5. First we are going to find the device handles for all the flash partitions, using pdocread -l

C:\itsutils>pdocread.exe -l and press return.

It will list the following items as shown (Below is only a sample from the Hermes wiki):

114.88M FLASHDR
| 3.12M Part00
| 2.88M Part01
| 50.88M Part02
| 58.00M Part03
968.75M DSK1:
| 968.50M Part00
STRG handles: 834d5e62
0 partitions, 0 binary partitions
customerid=00000000 uniqueid= 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
(968.50M) 03958bce
0 partitions, 0 binary partitions
customerid=00000000 uniqueid= 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

customerid=00000000 uniqueid= 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
( 3.12M)

6. However, if you encounter the following error under command prompt as shown:

C:\itsutils>pdocread.exe -l
Copying C:\itsutils\itsutils.dll to WCE:\windows\itsutils.dll
Could not update itsutils.dll to the current version, maybe it is in use?try restarting your device, or restart ActiveSync

you will need to edit the registry as follows:

HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies
valuename '00001001' was set to dword:2, change it to dword:1

Go to step 5 again.

7. Now, check that all the partition sizes reported by pdocread are correct by typing only "pdocread -w -d FLASHDR -p Part00 -t" without the quotes. take note that FLASHDR is the name of your device (See step 5 when you just type pdocread.exe -l)

8. Repeat for Part01 and Part 02

C:\itsutils>pdocread -w -d FLASHDR -p Part00 -t
real nr of sectors: 6398 - 3.12Mbyte (0x31fc00)
C:\itsutils>pdocread -w -d FLASHDR -p Part01 -t
real nr of sectors: 5888 - 2.88Mbyte (0x2e0000)
C:\itsutils>pdocread -w -d FLASHDR -p Part02 -t
real nr of sectors: 104192 - 50.88Mbyte (0x32e0000)
C:\itsutils>pdocread -w -d FLASHDR -p Part03 -t
real nr of sectors: 118784 - 58.00Mbyte (0x3a00000)

Note the partition sizes (in brackets above) that is needed for the next step. They may differ from device to device.

9. Now let's dump the first 3 partitions (coldboot kernel, base kernel and imgfs), use the sizes you found in the previous step (the values in bracket in step 8). Press <Enter> after you type Part00.raw and the next statement will appear. Same for Part 01 and 02.

C:\itsutils>pdocread -w -d FLASHDR -p Part00 0 0x31fc00 Part00.raw
CopyTFFSToFile(0x0, 0x31fc00, Part00.raw)
C:\itsutils>pdocread -w -d FLASHDR -p Part01 0 0x2e0000 Part01.raw
CopyTFFSToFile(0x0, 0x2e0000, Part01.raw)
C:\itsutils>pdocread -w -d FLASHDR -p Part02 0 0x32e0000 Part02.raw
CopyTFFSToFile(0x0, 0x32e0000, Part02.raw)

10. Check what we have so far:

C:\itsutils>dir Part*.raw
10/08/2006 22:52 3.275.776 Part00.raw
10/08/2006 22:53 3.014.656 Part01.raw
10/08/2006 23:00 53.346.304 Part02.raw
C:\itsutils>

Now you have all the 3 files, which is your backup rom in raw. Zipped it and post it. We shall be waitng.

So in this case of step 7 and 8 it should be:

pdocread -w -d DSK1 -p Part00 -t
pdocread -w -d DSK1 -p Part01 -t
pdocread -w -d DSK1 -p Part02 -t

for part02, since it looks like a 100+MB, it will take sometime to write the raw files. You need to be patient.

Revised after checking through it one more time. There are some changes to the command which is as follows:

Same as before do a pdocread -l to get the addresses of DSK1 Part00, Part01 and Part02

Next execute the following commands in cmd prompt:

pdocread -w -d DSK1: -b 0x800 -p Part00 0 0x179000 Part00.raw

pdocread -w -d DSK1: -b 0x800 -p Part01 0 0x313800 Part01.raw <-- cannot see from your screen properly, you need to check the address.

pdocread -w -d DSK1: -b 0x800 -p Part02 0 0x7e9d800 Part02.raw <-- cannot see from your screen properly, you need to check the address.

Compress and upload and you're done. I want to extract the files inside and see if I'm able to get the touchwiz application.

To upload, you can try using Rapidshare, Megaupload site:

www.ziddu.com (Registration required)

P/S: I'm not sure if what we are doing will work or not, I'm really not the expert. But I hope that what was being done for the i780 can work for i900 as well. Also, I'm not trying to cook a rom for the i900, but perhaps there are a lot of people asking for the Touchwiz application.

To my understanding, the DSK2, DSK3 & DSK4 are the Internal Storage memory, Internal Flash memory (16G) and the MicroSD card.

You are right my G4 from Singapore has the Chinese sip and my free storage space is down to 35 mb and I have nothing 3rd party installed. I don't remember how much I had with G3 without Chinese sip but I think it was more than 50 mb

DSK2 = not sure
DSK3 = Internal Storage (Yours should be the 8GB model)
DSK4 = MicroSD (1GB)
DSK5 = 0 (Suspect should be the other 8GB flash memory for the 16GB model)

As to the 4 parts, there is always a possible that the 1 of the parts should be wiping out the rom data.

Don't worry about DSK2, DSK3 and DSK4. :)

P/S: KChauJen had uploaded the raw image but unfortunately my workplace had blocked Megaupload website. Will see if I can get it downloaded tonight.

If you want to upload, you can try www.ziddu.com. Registration is required but it is free.

I'm really hopeless with G4, because my pim.vol is about 24M and whatever you install the program to the external memory (My Storage), a part of the installed program still be in the Windows directory which is less space for the message and the others required program has to be in the internal memory.

I've tried, it doesn't need ActiveSync. You need to first turned off and then on the device while GrandPrix is running. That will enable bootloader mode of the device and then GrandPrix can work.

Chaimd's dump should be in English and if this works, you owe Chaimd a favor!

Let us know will you? :)

HELP!!!! I used that ROM incorrectly.

On the first attempt I used that as the Phone image and the flash failed at 41%.

Now, after I successfully flashed that image as PDA ROM, it's having English but a very big problem appeared. The phone now hard-reset every time I turn it off.

Additionally: THE PHONE function IS NEVER ON AGAIN!!!

Does anyone have the Phone image can upload for me? Thanks.

I tried the Singapore G4 ROM after that, but still having the "Incorrect Software Version" message.

So SAD :(

Hopefully it works. I'm using the ROM .bin file from gravner http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ne0nalozyy2

Cheers,

Look at the link which showed us, but this time, change to Singapore then use the Singapore rom G4 (from Samsung) to upgrade to overcome the hard-reset.

Hope it works.

KC

:) Just to confirm this way, I have done with .bin file that was flashed by Grandprix and I faced the hard reset everytime. Then I re-flash again with original G4 ROM. It works very well now. Becareful, after flashing with .bin you have to change preconfig to Singapore before reflash with original ROM.

The phone function is totally disabled. I can't do that configuration tweak anymore because the Radio is off.

Also, I could flash to i908 PDA firmware, but still there is missing Phone firmware (blank)

Ok I flashed the G4 ROM from Chaimd and it works ok so far. Now I have 51 mb of storage memory vs 35 before with the Singapore G4 ROM. It will be good when we can cook our own ROM and take out some of the stuff we don't need.

I got problem when the program stop at 41% with "Port create failed" and now it has "no radio" (no phone). Try to go back again with GrandPrix but it can't find any modem port.

I also can't use the Singapore Rom (DXHG4) due to no radio to change it back to Singapore country.

Please give me some hints or any suggestions to recue my baby...

Thanks,

KC

You have the Modem driver installed I assume Right? I fell sory you are having trouble. If you can't find a Phone.bin you might have to get Samsung to reload the phone part.

Guys, I am sorry about your phones. I feel using the manual override is extremely dangerous. Don't forget by selecting Singapore, we do not know what will happen to the phone rom in your device.

Right now, there are already 2 cases with the latest pda rom but NO phone rom.

instead of using the grandprix, can you guys try to use the exe updater and try to upgrade it?

Currently, I do not know if there is a phone rom available, I doubt so. For the i780, so far I only know that the russians had managed to come up with the PUHE1.

If all fails, guess that you guys will need to pay a visit to the SSC.

The official HG4 updater does install a phone ROM, whether it CAN if your existing one is toasted is a different question.

It sounds like using the GrandPrix method isn't a very good idea!

In order to use updater you have to use preconfiguration. The problem is if the phone radio is off you can't open preconfig. This is the problem KChauJen is having. I think his mistake of flashing the PDA to the phone part may cause him a trip to the SSC.

Any luck on the Kitchen? I downloaded the I780 kitchen and manage to get the dump but that is as far as I got.
