Ok, let's see..

download them from here http://rapidshare.com/files/206980598/USBAS.zip

1. Unpack the drivers you downloaded to their own folder and make a note of it's location.
2. Put your device in bootloader. For Orbit/Artemis, hold the power/voice recorder buttons then hold the soft reset button for 5 seconds, then release the soft reset button only (continue to hold the other two). Soon enough you'll get the three-color screen. HTC Users press the two soft keys and press the power button
3. Connect your device.
4. Run WMDC.
5. Open connection settings and UN-CHECK "Allow USB Connections".
6. Exit WMDC.
7. Return to the Vista Desktop. Go to Start Search and type "Services" and select this from the resultant list. Click "continue" to display it.
8. In the newly-opened window, find "Windows Mobile-based connectivity" and "Windows Mobile 2003-based connectivity". For each of these, in the startup type column, set this to "Automatic" and click "Start" in the bar on the left. Once these settings are changed, close this window.
9. Return to the Vista Desktop. Go to Start Search and type "Device Manager" and select this from the list. Click "continue" to display it.
10. Click the "+" next to 'Mobile Devices', and double-click on "HTC USB Sync" - this is your device.
11. You know can see the properties associated with the USB Connection. Go to the 'Driver' tab and click on "Update Driver".
12. In the next window, select "Browse my Computer for Driver Software", then
13. Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer", then
14. Click the "Have Disk" button, then
15. Click the "Browse" button and navigate to the folder created way back in step 1.
16. Vista x32 users should select 'wceusbsh.inf', while x64 users need to select select 'wceusbshx64.inf', then click "Open" and click "Next" to install the driver. [Nearly there now.]
17. Once the installation has completed, invoke the Task Manager using Ctrl-Alt-Del and stop the WMDC process.
18. Re-open WMDC.
19. Open connection settings and CHECK "Allow USB Connections" again.

This is for Vista but i think it works on xp too, just give it a try abd let me know the results

That is fantastic, I'll give it a try tonight. I can use a vista Pc also, so I will try this first and let you know how I get on.

this now makes sense as to why so many people may have experienced "error 260 - connection lost" when trying to hard SPL via activesync.

DONE IT!:D:eek::p:):cool:

Thanks very much indeed! I now have olinex 1.38 installed, as indicated by the tri colour bootloader screen (i.e volume down and reset held pressed for 5 seconds)!!!

Did it via your excellent instructions, on Vista 32 bit..

Next job now is to install a new ROM with WWE instead of FRENCH!

Any suggestions / recommendations?;)

More importantly - any links on this forum.

Its been a long time coming but it was worth the trial and tribulation - as long as I get WWE ROM loaded that is..

Hi everyone :)

Just a small question : HardSPL (noob version, with sign control) allow me to flash with a signed cooked ROM. That is understood :)

But, does it allow me to flash with an OFFICIAL HTC Rom ? (Actually, French SFR (carrier) ROM, and i want French HTC Stock ROM)

Thanks =)

Be aware that the HTC stock WWE ROm that I tried to download contained a trojan virus and I now have to re-install my XP Operating system!

I'd be inclined to move away from HTC and go with a cooked rom, where there may be less chance of downloading som shite.

I flashed CloudyFa's rom (WWE though) and it is fine.

Could someone provide an image of what the boot loader screen should look like when all traces of SPL has been removed? I tried flashing the original SPL back like I flash normal ROMs (USB connections don't work anymore), but I'm not sure it went right...

Cheers!

I just installed the Hard-SPL on my device. After reading the thread of having this safe system thingy that kept me safe from installing other ROMs which could mess up my phone, I figured that this would be great (even though I really dont know how to flash or install another ROM).

Anyway, I got this great question... Will I be able to install/flash(?) this ROM? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=506533

Once again, I'm pretty new to this. I tried using the search tool for more information, but turned out that I couldn't find anything. If theres no way to get the ROM I linked, is it even possible to uninstall Hard-SPL?

...like, say, for instance you needed to return it or warranty it?

there should be several threads on how to restore the factory SPL and ROM.

to fully answer your other question, I'd have to follow your thread. sorry, there's a bitchin episode of Enterprise on SciFi right now. :P

--EDIT--
As long as you have a GSM Diamond, you'll be fine, just follow directions.
--END--

just use a ROM from whichever forum your phone is, if you're using a CDMA carrier (Sprint/Verizon; NAM) your pickins are slim, just make sure the ROM is specifically FOR CDMA. otherwise, you'll probably brick it. which isn't totally unrecoverable (usually).

no matter what you decide to do, you may as well leave HardSPL installed, ithe phone's more useful with it installed.

Hello everbody, please if somebody knows, tell me, is it Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex.zip --> 1.93 olinex-signed version of hard spl ?

Cause when i flash SPL with hard spl from this file, it shows me 1.30 version? I'm little confused with this...

And where can i find olinex1.40 hard spl - SIGNED, if it exist, maybe i'm wrong?

Tnx in advance, i'm sorry for my bad eng, cause it's not my native language...

Probably a bit late into the mix but just to let everyone know, flashed 1.93OliNex to a DAIM300 using from XP SP3 with no problem.

The only real hurdle was getting all the files needed for installing HSPL. Seems like the HSPL information is perhaps not as well organized in this forum as it is for others such as the Touch HD/Kaiser etc. Furtunately I'm not really a newbie (not an expert either, just somewhere in the middle :)) so it wasn't rocket sience to search and find the info needed.

I'm new at this flashing stuff, surely thats why I fail at this, but here is the problem:
Everything seems to work excellent, but after the program shuts down the phone, nothing happens. The PDA Phone ROM Updater stays at 0% for a few minutes. Then the following error message shows:

ERROR [262]: UPDATE ERROR
The ROM Update Utility has encountered communication errors during the update process. The Program will guide you step-by-step to recover from the errors so you can continue with the update.

I've tried a couple of times already.
There's no problem to get it back in original state, since the update failed.
I'm using Windows XP and have no problem with Active-Sync. So please help me out...

Hey guys I don't see this problem here. Using this, my fuze boots into the black screen and everything fine but eventually comes back and says "Invalid Model ID". The RUU program is what says this. Any ideas? I just got it today and wanted to flash it before I start moving my contacts and everything over?

Hi,

I've read alot of posts here about not successfully updating the ROM. I've had the issue that I was stuck at 0%, saw alot of solutions but non worked for me. I've had the connection error, same, saw alot of solutions (tried different PC's etc.) but didn't work.

Finally I've found my solution. I manually started the BootLoader (soft reset and volume down key) en connected the USB and ran the update utility... FINALLY!!!

Just wanted to let you guys know.

Cheers!

I am having some problems restoring my original SPL on my MDA compact IV.

I have downloaded the "Unsigned-Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex" and used "NBHUtil" to extract the original SPL from a update from t-mobile.

This works fine but when the RUU tries to open the NBH it gives an error.
ROMUpdateUtility in the top, Yellow sign with an ! (like the message icon) and the path and filename to the NBH file.

Can someone explain how to successfully extract the original SPL so i can restore it.

I've tried everything I could find on the forums. I've switched usb ports, tried another computer, nothing in the device manager is showing up. What am I doing wrong?

Same goes for me. Absolutely nothing works. I got the 260 error.
When I try via the manual method I get a black screen, and the activesync connection dissapears...

On a sidenote, as I can't find any clear explanation on the net..
1. Install Hard-SPL on your device
2. Security unlock your device
3. Install radio on your device
4. Install a rom (windows mobile 6.5 in my case)

Try internal storage method flashing, don't flash roms with usb cable connected phone over active sync! Firs sure you have to flash HSPL for your device, 1.40 olinex , 1.93 olipro unsigned etc.. All this you can find on HTC Diamond - Wiki, maybe will be good, before your questions to read little bit more!?

I installed the SPL from the very first post in here and it worked, but when I tried to flash a ROM (signed HTC German ROM 2.something) it does not progress beyond 0% any suggestions? I think my previous SPL version was 1.93 or something like that. What Happens when I disconnect my device now? Will it be broken, or something like that?

edit: Okay, it workes as usual, but I still want that rom on that thing. So can somebody provide a download link to another signed SPL that might be working? Thanks a lot, this forum has always been very helpful for my xda questions.

Hi,

I did read all of the instructions, but it seems to be very important to install the Hard SPL.

I downloaded and used both the signed and the unsigned versions. From one of the guides I saw it said:
"To confirm is Hard-SPL is on your device, manually enter Bootloader by pressing the Volume Down and performing a soft reset at the same time. If successful you will see the tri-colour screen and the following will be displayed

Hard SPL 1.40.Olinex
DIAM100 MFG 64M
SPL-1.40.OliNex
"

If I take a look at my T-Mobile MDA Compact IV it states:
DIAM200 MFG 64M
SPL-1.40.OliNex
MicroP-Diam (LED) v11

PSOC-Vict STAGE_PVT v0x20

Can I continue? Should I run SSPL? Please help me!

Byte type coded SPL's can be flashed via SD Card when named DIAMDIAG.nbh. Otherwise you'd have to see if Jocky has modified his spl loader for Diamond. Otherwise, make sure you have the right version of usb drivers for your pc.

I had this problem when doing the install. Before you go ahead, I hope you have your diamond restored to the original state.

Now, here is what I did:
1. Connect device to PC and Establish Activesync.
2. Sync something, A confirmation that sync was OK, means communication is good.
3. Now, on the device, goto the Start >> Settings >> Connections >> USB to PC
4. Check (Radio Button) Activesync (Sync with Outlook)
5. Uncheck (check box) Enable faster data synchronization
6. Uncheck (check box) Ask me first about USB Connection.....

Doing this means, the device by defaults connects to USB, without waiting for user input. If you notice, otherwise, when you connect USB, you get a small window asking what connection type you want.

Try again and please post back results...

You say you diamond does not want to boot, Now when the flash failed, the update utility gives you the recovery option. I hope you did that.

I have USB connectivity issue, my computer (XP) doesn't recognize my phone when it is plugged. I

This is regular, and I have seen it so many times on my diamond... try this..

1. Connect device to PC and Establish Activesync (it may not detect)
2. Now, on the device, goto the Start >> Settings >> Connections >> USB to PC
3. Check (Radio Button) Activesync (Sync with Outlook)
4. Uncheck (check box) Enable faster data synchronization

As soon as this is done, the USB Connection started. Also in the Activesync on PC, Enable USB Connection should be allowed. You may allow Automatically Identify this device.

I am trying to flash 1.93 on top of 1.40 HSPL.

I already have a cooked ROM sitting inside (2.0.0.0). The update goes fine, and device hard resets. But the HSPL does not update (bootloader still reads 1.40.Olinex)

I have tried two times... and still the same... Any help...

hi guys,

noob here. have a diamond with 1.93.479.3 WWE version (bought in eastern europe, added hebrew support), Radio 1.00.25.05.

been on the forum for 3 days (head spinning badly by now), downloaded a bunch of versions for hard-spl:

The RUU from this forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=93104&d=1213629234 (says version 1.30 when updating)

and the 1.93 Olinex nbh file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=101134&d=1216793074 (says version 1.0?? after replacing the nbh in the RUU directory)

What am i doing wrong? Perhaps not downloading the right file? There are many howto's on the forum, however they are very confusing as to what hard-spl to install.

Which file shoudl i donwload for my Diamond and how should i install it? Also which Radio version should i use?

I also tried to find out how to dump my rom, but those threads are even more confusing.

Can you please help me?? I dont wanna be stuck in the foggy world of WM6.1 forever.

Thank you.

Funny, i'm replying myself.

Went ahead and did it, although RUU shows version 1.0, it is indeed 1.93 olinex and works fine. Upgraded Radio and Energy ROM in the mean time, everything was a breeze.

Thank you all for your efforts in this forum.

Completely new to this ROM-flashing business but now that I've got a spare Diamond thought I'd give it a go, so I've been reading.

Nobody seems to have yet asked this question: my Diamond is already SIM unlocked. To your knowledge, will installing HardSPL and flashing ROMs re-lock the SIM to the original carrier, or once it's unlocked will it stay unlocked? From other people asking if HardSPL will SIM-unlock their phone, it sounds like these activities do not affect the SIM lock/unlock status?

The reason I ask is because I once sent my SIM-unlocked phone to HTC for a warranty repair, and they sent it back to me re-flashed and re-locked to the original carrier. It's possible, though, that they replaced some critical piece of hardware.

Also, in a related total noob question, should ROMs be flashed with or without a SIM card in the phone?

Thanks for all your work!

Hi I have a question. I flashed to hspl 1.4 Olinex one year ago and all have been going great since. but for a while ago I sarted having problems when I tryed to reboot my phone. only one reboot in 10 works so once I have tuned it off it takes forever to get it working again. And when I finaly get the phone to start again it is totaly reseted:(. I was thinking that a new Spl could help but when I try to flash to another version. it yest goes stright from 0% to 100% in around 30 sec, and then it says congratulations but it is still the same spl version as before:(. any clue of what I can do or is this yest the end of the cycle of life for my phone?

Regards Fredrik

I have the same problem. I try to "upgrade" the spl, and the process is apparently successful but the old version remains...

Any idea what could help?

Hy everybody.

I have a big problem I tried every Hard SPL (1.93, 1.37, 1.34, 1.23, 1.24) and i am still stucked up in the bootloader.

I've tried to fix it with a couple of mtty commands nothing helped and i also tried to fix it with UNI_ExitBootloader.exe, nothing worked for me.

Here my stats:

DIAM100 64M
SPL-1.34.Hard
MicroP-Diam (LED) v11

PSOC_Diam STAGE_PVT v0x30

ROM: Energy ROM V:3.June but I also tried other ROM's
Radio: at first 1.09.25.23 and now 1.00.25.05

Please help me...

Hi everybody,
I have same questions.
1.Is there a connection between the “original spl”( I am using now) on my htc and that for the hard spl ?
For example : Now I am using spl – 2.03 and I will must replacement with similarly hspl 2.03?
2. Which method is safer for the replacement of “hardspl”, because I read somewhere that I can change spl from “internal storage”?
3. Which version on hard spl is for me?
My configuration is:
OS WM6.1
Diam100 64M
SPL – 2.03.0000
Microp - Diam(Del)v11
PSOC – DIAM Stage.PVT v0x30
ROM version 2.03.456.2wwe
Radio version 1.09.25.23
Protocol version 52.51.25.26H
