Hi,

It's not about wining or loosing a battle. I do not want them to keep spammnig this forum and possible making me the person causing issues for xda-developers. I love this forum and would not want to see anything happen to it.

That's the main reason I don't want to talk about the SE version any more.

Every since I started cooking for the wing, I've always ran into issues with haters and kind of getting tired of it.

I spend too much of my time cooking the roms let along waste it on them.

Since I have so many supports of my roms, I will make the roms for version 6.0 even better then what I had planed for the SE versoin.

I spent a lot of time along with many other great cooks in this forum to get this build to work.

1. The porting process took me for every since it was originally in Chinese.
2. The rom was made for a VGA device.
3. The rom was missing a lot of files, once I got one thing working another would stop working.
4. Lots of debugging time spent.

Now the rom finally works correctly with great speed.

My purpose of porting this new buld:

To give my users the ability to say that they have the newest build out there.
To give my users a faster more responsive device instead of that slow rom provided with the device.

As for the interface, I have found another one I will use once I get everything working correctly.

remember ttran im up for any beta testing...i been with you since your first rom...and open touch 2.0 which had myfavs...i actually still have that rom...but i was never selected for beta testing

I've been with OT since v2.7 and really enjoy the OT series of roms so the donation was long overdue!

It is really difficult for the average rom user to understand how much hard work and time goes into upgrading the wing to these newer builds; for most of us even small bugs can require several days of reading and trial&error....I can't even fathom porting a Chinese language rom and trying to debug it (WOW!!!)

It takes a special kind of person to do all that work for the good of a community and the cooks definitely deserve to be appreciated & respected.

Keep up the good work ttran; every time we show an iphone owner our OT wing and make them turn green with envy it is all worth while =)

I gave my donation because of all of the roms I looked at b4 my very 1st flash, ttran's had what I wanted and was easy to understand. Cooking roms and making these devices better is no small feat and I am greatful to ALL cooks who spend their free time slaving over a hot rom.

ttran i personally am addicted to flashing ur roms i check back here like 6 times a day, lol, no joke, my wife threatened to take away my phone. there are always gonna be those who will bring you down if u let them, just know u have a whole community here who will seek to bring u right back up. oh and when i get home i'm gonna try v1 and 2 out, always wanted to try them out, but never thought to use the search to find em, sigh still a noob.

First off thanks for all your hard work. I, like most have no problem donating even though there is going to be no SE. I have only started using your ROM's in the past 4 months or so but I do love them and I can tell it takes you a lot of time...time away from your family so thank you.

To those who brought up the legal issue, why would you even want to put a topic on this for MS to dig into...and you know what I say personally if MS wants to come at me then so be it. I like a challenge, I am sure however that MS has bigger things to do then to worry about a few individuals who donated to help support someone who was making a special ROM.

I'm working on it rite now as we speak, the second beta version has been sent out to the beta team to test.

One of the versions will look like the photo below.

If you select this version, you will have to register it yourself.

I can not and will not include warez in my roms.

Its not new to the forum but new to my roms and the herald...lol

I was trying to choose between this one and the one for throttle luancher.

This one seems to run smoother in my rom so I went with this one.

My main goal was to get it to run as smooth as possible and I think my rom is just about there.

There is no need to donate to use my roms.

There was some confusion where some people thought they had to donate.

Once again.... There is no SE version, this will either be the lite or biggy.

No donations needed to use it.

Seriously, I love this theme. I've been trying to get it on my wing also but it's much better cooked. i just hope it doesn't run as slow on your ROM as it did on my Wing.

I wish I could beta test for you but work has gotten the best of me and I need beta testers for our product as well...

Due to all of the recent donations, I will release this version first instead of the Biggy and Lite.

The Private SE version will be rleased on July 8, 2008 as long as everything goes smoothly from now until then.

If you planning on donating, do it now since I will not accept donations towards this release after July 7, 2008.

The rom itself has been completed but I'm still working with my beta team to finalize some of the bugs in this new build.

I can not say when it will be completed, but I'm hopping very soon.
I feel bad about version 5 and the mms/sms issue so I'm working extra hard on this version to make sure it works out of the box.

I currently tried out v5 lite diamond and enjoyed it greatly once all the fixes were installed. The deep blackness of that look was definitely the sleekest thing out there for the Tmo Wing/HTC Herald. Stopped using it because certain items didn't work (livesearch for e.g., HTC pictureviewer etc) and I wanted to test my new Mot Q9h. I hope this release brings me back to using the Herald. Regardless, you're a genius TTran, highly commendable work.

Can you Pleaseee take out the KeyLock feature? because i cannot turn it off in Open Touch 5.0 UL, it doesn't lock the end button s0o when iam using my bluetooth and i hop out of my car, the end button always gets pressed in my belt clip pouch and i like the slide2unlock better, Thanks in advance :)

only a 3G chip? specs say it is HSDPA..so can it hit 3.5g?

at least it has messenger... aim.. but you have to kinda get it from the app store.....
but i chat with google, yahoo, and wlm a lot more.

Okay Option 2 it is, more memory.

The difference is about a few mb or so for the programs.

When I first posted the specs, my rom was working but not fully working.
After I fixed most of the issues it grew a lot more then I thought it would.

Thus the difference in size for both memory areas.

I will have the new specs posted later on today.

But the rom still runs a lot faster than any other build I've ever done.

Current specs of the lite:

33MB Storage and 27MB Plus Programs.

This is for the Diamond Lite version, the WM7 version will have more storage since the Diamond rom requires certain apps that WM7 does not.

Ha, ha that was thinks that stuck out to me too that I found attractive about the Diamond version. Yes the WM7 one is cool looking and one has lots of options with the spb software in regards to adjusting it to their liking and visual pleasure. Either way...both are great and much appreciated! I'm starting to think you could put out a cool blank screen and your threads would get 20,000 plus hits and members camping out wanting it. :D

I'm currently using your 5.3 Biggy version and just to try it installed the SPB Mobile Shell and it's true that takes a good chunk of memory (currently 20MB Storage / 22MB Program available after the installation) but the Biggy is so well cooked by you that the performance is still very good! Can't wait to try the Lite version later today and the Biggy on Monday!

Hold your camea button down and perform a soft reset.
Do not let the camera button go until you see a rainbow looking screen.

If it does not say SPL 4.70.Yang on the screen then your not hard-spl.

first off...this rom is by far the best yet...I have been with you since 4.0 and this is the best yet...can't wait for WM7 to see that

second...I can't get weather to work, do I need to buy and install SBP weather? what is not working is that when i go to configure it I have no cities toi choose nor can i type in a city (I can type one in, but it does nothing as far as giving me anything for that city).

Third...I love the SPB Menu but if i do a reset I have to tap on spb menue at the bottom right corner to get it to come up...is this by design or how can I get it to come up without tapping on it?

Fourth...I donated with 5.0 but will be donating again becuase i can tell you put some long hours and hard work on this one...thanks again you ROCK

You have to continue playing with the weather over the weekend because I had the same problem where I was able to type the city and the weather came up but I couldn't determine what city the weather was representing...lol..after a soft reset, it worked perfectly.

I think that is something that occurs with the SPB shell.

Please don't forget to choose your provider in the connection wizard...

Here is a method that might work: Remove all programs (allow the phone to go back to the basic setup from the last flash) and then try to flash your phone. This works everytime for me. I always follow this method when I get and error on the first flash.

I downloaded it and its really quick overclocked or not. I personaly wond add it as you said it works fine.

Here is some feedback to the greacious one just so you get some honest feedback.

I too have issues with the weather but Im sure it can easily be adjusted.

The contacts seem to be out of the way and harder to access then they should be. I understand that the SBP or whatever has the contacts button but 5.3 had the iContacts in a very easy to access mainscreen place.

Everything else is butter so far. Very fast. Things are cleaned up and look nice.

What are some of the advantages to registering the spb?

Thanks for a great ROM and I look forward to the next big thing.

PS I was late to work today cause I was waiting it to complete the flash. THANKS! LOL!

Funny how people loved the original iphone so much, and were so impressed with the mapping features and touchscreen.

Then they realized some things they were missing and will definitely get the iphone version 2.

My wing can do more things than either of those (although the internet is slower) and mostly with freeware. I haven't even begun to tap into the potential of this pda which also has a phone in it. (I consider the phone to be the last of the features of this awesome device.)

Back to the program now... getting OT6!

The only thing that I have to report so far is what has been said, the weather thing not working right.

Oh...also, I found that the data connection doesn't like staying connected all the time. Took me a little bit to figure out why my activesync wasn't working either. However all is good now. Love the rom so far and can't wait to see what else is in store.

did you run the cab file that was available with the flash center (if my memory serves me right). it's in one of the folders and the readme mentioned that you might have to run the cab and restart your phone if it doesn't work. i think it was some sort of unwrap file...but i don't recall, since i decided to go with the hardspl route...

So first and foremost, ROUND OF APPLAUSE. Rom runs very smooth and clean. Not a lot of problems for me, well hardly any. One main thing that really caught my attention is when you slide the keyboard open and options are slanted to the right. Pictures are below. Also, SPB Shell is only a trial for 15 days, so if you guys really want the full effect I suggest getting the serial one way or another. Happy Flashing!

If there were awards for this you would be the top of my list. This rom has been designed and engineered to be s finger friendly as possible. Lovin' how the icons are nice and big so that you don't have to try and press on it with the tip of your finger (in my case fingernail lol).

Anyways hope the screenshots and brief review of this rom helps everyone. Show some appreciation and send him some donations. I know there were issues with that previously due to the "SE" version, but honestly he's not trying to hurt anybody. Just a hard working man that is trying to manage his time so that he can still provide and chill with his family while satisfying our HTC HERALD/WING community.

Forgive me if this comes off as a silly q? but when you say WM7, are you actually referring to the Win Mobile 7 OS? I scoured the web and I couldn't find any evidence of it's release. What's the deal?

Yes ive done it all even when a reread everything about flashing your rom still getting 720 error ive been scareching every ware for a fix for the 720 error some one said that it may be a CID lock, i dont think so beings that it did the same thing when i have v 3.0 installed and try to flash to version 6

Go to start>settings>USB to PC and make sure to uncheck the "enable advanced network functions" toggle box

Be sure to delete your old flash center and unzip an entirely new flash center folder...then follow the standard directions. If this doesn't work delete your flash center (both zipped & unzipped) and re download a new copy and try again.

Thanks once again for a great ROM Ttran! I'm enjoying it and got the proxy set up without any issues and it set just the way I like it. The only problem I've ran into is I can't get the weather to work. For some reason I can't get that to work or figure out what's wrong? I know I have the proxy functioning fine given I can surf the net and check my emails. Yet the weather is a no go via proxy settings and/or wifi.

Anyone have an ideas or found a solution?

Try loading in bootloader, then flashing... worked for me... buy loading the bootloader just hold down the camera buuton then plug in the usb...

Great ROM! Fast without overclocking! One issue I've had is that after turning on wi-fi, when I went back into the comm manager it was showing off even though wifi was off. I wasn't able to turn it off then because of this. I ended up selecting flight mode to turn everything off and then enable the phone again to get back. Anyone else seen this issue?

Yah same issue here. It doesn move to off mode unless you go to flight mode or go to wifi setting then press menu and turn it off.

Also if you dont use spb and you have the the time tab on the today screen it doesnt allow you to select the city's that you want to watch just like the weather it doesnt populate any choices.

Folks,

I have great news....

I finally got Throttle Launcher touchflo3d to work smooth with this rom.

I have some small issues to resolve and will try to have it posted on Monday.

In the mean time, please continue to play with the current version and report back any issues you might run into.

With Throttle Launcher touchflo3d, I will be able to create a biggy version along with the other standard ones I usally cook.

Also, thank you for all of your support and donations.

Something else I noticed was that when I was playing a video off my SD Card, it would error out and tell me that there was not enough memory and completely stop the video. Is that because of SPB or would something else cause that?

Okay,

Take my .nbh file and place it into the same folder you used to flash my version 3.0.

Replace my new .nbh file with the old version 3.0 .nbh file.

The main point is if you were able to flash version 3.0 the this version should not be an issue.

This rom is amazingly fast. Even without overclocking it, but i did anyway. The one bug Im noticing is when Im listening to music through steiro bluetooth there is some background distortion. Didnt get that with the other roms. Im at work right now but when I get home Im gonna do some research.
SAME here i hear the noise to ...thought it was srs wow ..so.. I did a hard reset ..same thing ..even after doing some tweeking to clean up the sound still there ....... thinking maybe the radio ... don't kno if that makes sense

This rom is cool...however I prefer a non diamond theme. I like the the themes of the older OT so Imma stick with that for now. Thanks a bunch for your hard work. If possible - could you provide us with a .nbh file of radio 3.21.90? I did a search and found one for the artemis but I'm not sure flashing that would work or even damage the phone. Cheers mate!

I was going to use that radio, well it did use that radio during my beta testing of this rom.

My team told me that it drains the battery way too much, thus I went back with an older radio.

If you still want this radio, just remind me later on and I will create a .nbh file with the radio.

As for the non diamond theme rom, there will be one with htc style for the non diamond and wm7 lovers.

I tried TL Touchflo3d on my friends Tilt and was not impressed since it was kind of slow.

But it working great on the wing and this rom.

For the ones who get that error, use the V3 and verify that the only .nbh file in the RUU folder is the new one.... Not the old one and you cannot have two of them...

Hey TTran, Not sure if anyone else picked up on this yet but the radio version says 03.07.90. I thought it was going to be the newest one? In my experience 03.07.90 reception is horrible. not to sure about 03.21.90 but i know 03.18.90 works pretty well. Just an FYI.

Besides that, I am loving the rom. I like the old style menu, but i am sure once i get used to spb and navigating it...I will love it that much more. How is the WM7 going? The diamond is actually nicer then i was expecting.

My issue with wifi seemed a little different, the indicator is always off, wifi was off for a while, and would not turn on. Then later it came on to my surprise with a popup of networks to connect to, and the indicator/switch still says off.

I pressed the 3G button too, maybe later it will get 3G speeds too? :)

Hi, I am not getting a slide volume command when trying to install from SD card. The Hard SPL seems to have installed with no problems. Was I supposed ot install the original OS before making Hard SPL? Otherwise my card is fat 32, and i reformated another one just in case and had the same result, it doesn't seem to find the card I guess. Please advise. Thanks!!!

Going on Spb to Tools, Browse File, Storage Card, give you the network connection if you have the WiFi setup instead of the content of the Storage Card.

For those who have the weather issue, like I had, download the SpbWeather install the trial version on the storage card, setup your cities and remove it...
It worked for me...

i found it , thanks. i dont want to rehash things your already aware of but I will give you my opinion as of right now. I have noticed the comm manager doesnt turn on or off wifi, it starts working and just hangs without doing anything. when i first tried it, it turned wifi on but wouldnt turn it off. also related to that the hard button at the top right....
I havent had a lot of time yet but the other thing i noticed was the weather problem. i can add the city, but it doesnt take and doesnt update either over wifi or the tmo-proxy. I am sure you are already aware of these issues, i just didnt have time to read the rest of the thread. aside from that, this rom is very fast and the layout is great, i think its your best effort so far and really appreciate your work. your roms were the first ones i flashed to my wing and i have never had a reason to try anyone elses.

i dont have to turn the phone into flight mode but I do have to click the top of the phone where the indicator shows the signal, then something like menu> wifi>turn off wifi is there and turns it off.

If you cant install with sim card then reformat card fat32 with 1024 cluster size with 256 mb partion size. If the sim card is slow or over 1 or 2 gigs then the ppc cant read it fast enough. Making a small partion will let the ppc read the rom on the card fast enough.

i love this rom, very fast and easy to use.
One major disadvantage im having right now, i cant use button 5, on the right side upper one to manage my connectiions. And i cant assign com manager to this button either.
Anyone know how to do this? i use it a lot to activate bluetooth for my car.
also im unable to acces the upper menu bar with the connection status icons
And the comnnection manager does not update wifi status properly, it keeps saying its off while its on. I cant turn it off like this.
These are probably all very easy to solve issues or perhaps issues caused by myself.
I still think this rom is the best i've used so far!

I installed SPB Weather in the Storage Card and it fixed the issue, but when I removed it, the weather stop working again. So my solution for now was to reinstall the SPB Weather again in the Storage Card and leave it there.

Went to the SPB website and downloaded the SPB Weather Cab, installed in the Storage Card and configure it for my local weather. It work right the first time. But in my case it stop working if you uninstall it after it's working. So until this is fixed in the ROM, you need to leave it installed.

:Dyouve done it again,i flashed ot 6.0 it is amazing,i love the inerface and the dialer,super cool.had the same issues w/the weather and wifi and the icontact is a lil hard 2 get to,but other then that it is the best rom to date and im super excited 2 flash the TL 3D version,it sounds like thats gonna BE even better.love ur roms,and i will be dropping a lil donation when i get paid this week,keep up the good work ttran!!!

Hey guys this is what i did to get the weather working. I took the original citiesdb.dat file from and other phone and replaced it with the file on my phone and everything was good money... here is the file i used just unzip the file and replace it with the file located in the spb mobile shell. hope this helps everyone:D

thanks, that worked over wifi, but not through the tmobile proxy so far. good file though thanks again..

update, after evaluating my settings and getting rid of an extra connection the proxy works fine now.

To toggle wifi and bluetooth, including directing audio by assigning actions to buttons of your choice: http://ae.inc.ru/aebpluslicense.php The toggle wifi here turns the wifi OFF as well with no problems. First time needs to be activated by Comm Manager after that toggling wifi works by itself from a button of your choice. Bluetooth toggles with no problem, and by assigning another button to Trans BT Toggle the sound is transfered between speaker and headset.... Excellent software IMO.

I have a USA T-Mobile Wing

As everyone else has said excellent ROM and much appreciated. I've been looking for a decent ROM for a year and I think I have found it. Most excellent and here are my notes.

As with everyone else weather shows no cities.
WiFi is a bit tricky to get turned on/off and always shows off in Comm Manager
.jar files are not associated with Esmertec
Actually it seems like there are no file associations as none of my windows (.ppt, .doc, .xls, etc.) files from e-mail are opening by clicking on them and giving association error.

My biggest complaint isn't about the ROM but SPB Moble Shell. I use my phone one handed all the time and have a tendency to hit the "OK" button a lot. This was dropping me into a blank screen which is the Windows "Today" screen. Since "Today" is blank in this ROM that was what I saw whenever hitting "OK". More on this later.

I also had a bit of an issue getting this ROM loaded. For those having trouble here is the procedure I used:

1) Backup however you feel comfortable backing up or don't; makes no difference to me :)
2) Go to T-Mobile website and get the stock ROM from their website. Load this onto the phone.
3) Download HERALD-USPL-beta3 from the first post of this thread. Unzip it into your c:\ root directory.
4) Download OpenTouch v5.0, I used Lite_Diamond and unzip this anywhere.
5) Put the .nbh file in the RUU directory under Flash Center (this would be c:\Flash Center\RUU\Open Touch v5.0 Lite Diamand.nbh)
6) Run herald-uspl.exe and follow the directions
7) When it says "your screen will go blank and ActiveSync will disconnect" this is true. You'll need to rerun hearld-uspl.exe if this does not happen. I was getting a black screen with green text a lot of the time. The screen should be white.
8) Hit return and the ROM Update will start. Just check the boxes and keep clicking next.
9) After the update completes you should have OpenTouch v5.0 on your device.

10) Now download OpenTouch v6.0 and unzip it. Take the Open Touch v6.0 Lite Diamond.nbh file and put it in c:\Flash Center\RUU directory.
11) Delete the older OpenTouch v5.0 nbh file.
12) Run herald-uspl.exe and do the same thing you did for 5.0.

After all that I have v6.0 on my Wing and functioning as well as everyone describes here.

Going a few steps further since I was frustrated with SPB Moble. I went and downloaded the trial version on SBP moblile and did an install. Of course all of the great icons of OpenTouch v6.0 are gone but it gave me a much better idea of how SPB Mobile works. The color scheme and background graphics are unchanged. Additionally I got the today screen back as well as some additional goodies from the SPB site (including the fact weather now works). Now when I hit "OK" and end up on the today screen I still can see missed calls, mail, SMS, lock the phone, etc. Additionally, as one other poster pointed out, iContact is difficult to get to. Especially after re-loading SPB Mobile. It seems to always want to throw me on the Contacts screen with the dialer on the lower half of the screen. The only "quick" way I've found to get to iContacts is to put Contacts on the Windows Menu. This brings up iContacts every time now.

I'm happier with this combination then the stock ROM but not thrilled with SPB Mobile. Personally, for what SPB wants to charge for Mobile I'd rather give ttran001 as a donation.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing what is dropped on the site Monday and will be trying that straight away.

My favorite feature? The dialer of course. Oh and the speed! This thing has brought new life to my wing. Again, very well done.

Additional software I use and works fine:
Opera Mobile (not mini)
Agile Messenger
MS Live Search (although I've not tested it with my BT GPS yet)
GMail Applet
Google Maps (not tested with GPS yet but it is getting my location from cell signal)
Adobe Reader Mobile 2.0

Software that almost works:
Exchange Push E-mail - This seems to be working but upon initial sync it didn't sync everything in my inbox. It does seem to be syncing new items.
