This ROM is based on the 1.35 Europe Version from HTC
WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.19588 (Build 19588.1.1.4)

Now, you MUST have HardSPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400402) INSTALLED before you can install this ROM.

(and no i dont know if it works with the dollypro version, as i dont want a $700 brick)

Now back to the issue at hand, i have cleaned out the HTC ROM and removed / changed the following

AutoUpdate (as this will NEVER WORK)
Replaced .Net CF 2.0 with 3.5 (Massive Speed Improvement)
Removed the WelcomeCenter (no one uses it)
Removed the sample music
Tweaked the RAM allocation
Enabled HSUPA (disabled by default)
Enabled the usual SecurityProfiles (RAPI etc)
Removed that (gay) HTC startup jingle

Specs

(and this is only the start of things to come!!)
A speed improvement by at least 30% (i reckon anyway) :)

i left the gplycache at Auto and the same with the FATFS as i've been testing this for weeks and modifying those values seems to cause some stability issues with the diamiond, so i worked on the RAM allocation and running processes, but this is a work in progress and this is only the first release of MANY!!! :)

Thanks for fast reply, working on a rom which uses the gsensor.dll and interfacing this with manila using LUA scripts and XML to create a motion based UI. this project would ultimately become an API or SDK for others. Thanks :)

yes the ROM needs to be HEX edited but it has nothing really to do with the "development" of a ROM :).

so when we get HardSPL ready and installed i will show everyone how to hex edit the ROM NBH files and then reflash it so bb connect can be used.

Sheer brilliance.
I've taken the plunge.
Installed Developer HSPL and flashed Elite 1.0. I'm sure there's more to come but it feels like another device! No lags, very responsive.
Will post a detailed report once I've put it through the grind

WWE = World Wide English (i think) and the european WWE Rom is in english that contains the networks of european countries. thats the only different if u install other like US version then u need to install your network CAB to use the network connections.

Hi guys, good job on the new rom!

I took the plunge too, and there is a definite speed increase :)

I do have one question though, after a while the used resources steadily grow from 51% just after boot to 68%.
This happened after starting and closing several programs (from the task manager), such as advanced config, total commander and the camera and having scrolled through the touchflow interface multiple times.

It seems some of the resources don't get released fully, or something.
I also noted a significant slow down when the resources where at this level.

The whole rom is much snappier, used it all day, and no hanging, stuttering, or any other problems.
Got home and decided to have a play with"Dynamix 3D Benchmark". The original rom scored around 6500 or so. This rom (although every normal app including satnav seems quicker) scores around 2500.

Probs with the benchmark soft, or is something not happy from within the rom?

Not moaning, or even griping. Just an honest question.

try a reflash mate, cause my camera works like a dream, its a newer camera version then the one on the 1.34 ROM, for me it focuses faster and the photos are less orange then the 1.34 ROM

Is there any way that you can implement the UC compliant system like was set up for the Kaisers so that cabs stored in InternalStorage and be auto installed. very fast and stabile ROM, everything works much faster than my original (Dutch) ROM.
response to starting program much quicker, bluetooth and headset work fine, TomTom 6 GPS fix within 30 seconds although TomTom 6 is veeeeeeery slow on this VGA device, Opera also fine.

some questions/remarks:
- is it advised to do a hardreset after flashing like the Kaiser? I did.
- is there a chance introducing lags by this HardSPL like the previous Kaiser HardSPL's on WM6.1? (till now I didn't notice any...).
- could you remove the customer feedback in settings?
- is there a way to increase volume? My Nokia headset is very silent, It's almost unusable. was also in the original ROM.

I had the same with my original ROM... Most of the time it works, but this morning I was in a meeting and it rang! I checked date settings and the appointment, everything was OK.
The date on TouchFlo 3D was correct, BUT the assignment was showing on the Home TouchFlo 3D screen as "tomorrow:" even though this appointment was definitely today... I soft-resetted and it went back to vibrate, so I think it's a bug of TouchFlo 3D...

Now this sounds really bad, I hope this is not a problem of the Elite ROM.
I updated my WWE Diamond to the Elite ROM(manually executing Hard-SPL).
The Radio is still 0.93.25.NS26 though, I thought that it is going to be downgraded but apparently I misunderstood things.

Here's the tricky part: I cannot confirm ANY performance improvements, sorry guys.
I had the 1.35.401.3 WWE installed on my Diamond and although there seems to be slightly more storage memory, the program memory is even worse(had aprox. 50 MB after first start incl. Touchflo 3D and now I have only aproy. 48 MB).
Also the whole ROM seems to be working a bit "jerky", maybe it wasn't such a good idea to update my Diamdond that early.
I'm on Vodafone Germany, the automatic operator settings configuration worked fine.

The problem may lie in the fact that this ROM is based on an older ROM and apparently HTC made a lot of improvements on the 1.35.401.3 ROM I had before.
That said, I think that I'm going to go back to my original ROM as soon as I find out where to get it from. ;)
I'm going to play around with this ROM for the whole day to make sure my first impression is accurate but so far I'm not very impressed.

HOWEVER: I'm VERY VERY thankful for the work of the Elite ROM guys, don't get it wrong. It was the first release, kudos to them. Thanks guys.

Only positive side of the new ROM so far(as of now): the boot process is much faster.

UPDATE: increased font cache to 16384, re-started device a couple of times and it seems to be working much faster now.
I also have now 55 MB program memory, haven't installed any programs yet(nothing additional running in the background).
I'm going to stick a little bit longer with this ROM to see how it performs.

I believe, that beyond the likely abstraction of certain applications, so that we gain a little space of storage or certain regulations in GLYPHCACHE & FATFS, should be not wait for ROMs with increase of speed for Diamond. HTC ROM is very good and without problems.

no, the fact it was hardspl was irrelevant, the SPL version it was based on was the problem: WM6.1 roms are bigger, and when the SPL does a reformat, it manages to erase too many blocks so managed to erase end of WM6.1 rom.

HTC fixed that in newer SPLs.

hi, got intellisync working on my Diamond also but every time I do a softreset it is slow starting up or it just hangs on "touch here to start touchflo 3D" I eventually got tried so I uninstalled the sync client. Aren't you experiencing the same?

I would really like a vanilla ROM, I didn't use touchflo 3d after 1 hour.

I think removing touchflo would really free up a massive amount of memory (storage).

Haven't tried personallising a Diamond ROM yet, but I'll have a go tomorrow.

Has anyone updated Dark Simpson's "htcrt_devices.ini" for the Diamond, or am I going to have to figure that out for myself?

Tochflo3D is actually the ONLY thing which made me buy the Diamond.
Yes, it is slow, not very responsive(sometimes jerky) and compared to the iPhone, a pain in the a... BUT: the Touchflo 3D GUI looks absolutely marvelous and it would be a pitty if people would return back to the WM OEM GUI.
On the contrary, I would love to see some developers taking Touchflo3D one step further by "covering" the remaining parts of the OEM GUI in that nice design/look.
It may cost performance but it would be worth it.

TF3D is the biggest crap since TF lol. And it costs so much RAM and performance...

And there's stll so mch stuff like YouTube etc.

Of course, some people want that. So maybe two ROMs, one vanilla, one with much stuff, so that almost everyone has the oppurtunity to have a ROM he/she likes.

I definetly want a clean ROM.

Love the new rom, faster and smoother gr8 job! but I am having a problem which is effecting both this rom and the default one i had.

When i receive a new text message (SMS) while the phone is in sleep mode, the phone does not ring and vibrate (as i have set it to do).

All that happens is that the lights on the d-pad light up in a circle, then when i push the power button to bring the phone out of sleep, it then rings and vibrates (as specified in then settings)... odd. :confused:
Sometimes i can get it to ring while it is in sleep mode, if i keep the 'SMS \ MMS' program running in the ram, but that only seems to work soon after i have done it, few hours later and again it wont ring till i bring it out of standby (even tho the program is still in RAM). I think this is more of a windows mobile problem perhaps, so sorry if u think this post does not belong here, i have tried looking for a solution on google but had little success, but i am not the only one: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/06/18/htc-touch-diamond-does-not-ring-or-vibrate-to-notify-when-receiving-sms-in-standby-mode/

hey there, yeah i did do that actually (assuming hklm=HKEY lol)and it works now, only problem is it wakes up the screen too, so buttons can be pressed etc, so i did this too: 'registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight\AutoDevic eLockEnable from 0 to 1 ' so the keys auto lock
And now im happy :) thanx for the reply... now just need to get a longer life battery and this is the perfect diamond ;)

The whole rom is much snappier, used it all day, and no hanging, stuttering, or any other problems.
Got home and decided to have a play with"Dynamix 3D Benchmark". The original rom scored around 6500 or so. This rom (although every normal app including satnav seems quicker) scores around 2500.

Probs with the benchmark soft, or is something not happy from within the rom?

Not moaning, or even griping. Just an honest question.


My result: 6980. Haven't tried the original ROM.

You need to tweak the file system cache, etc.

File system cache size: 8MB
File system filter cache: 131072
Tweaking the font cache size to 16384 also improves things a lot.

Those tweaks are not working on a Dutch rom. Eventually soft reset isnt working cause its hanging on startup TF3D.

because the Updates have to be approved my Microsoft AND HTC!!!

I remember reading an article about it a while ago from Microsoft and its fine for them to approve it, but then it has to be approved by HTC / and the carriers before it will appear in the list (which will never happen)

Hey it's like Windows Update on PCs... it's all about what MS wants and what MS releases but when do you ever see Windows Update including manufacturer driver updates or other non-MS software??

not at the moment no, before it even shows up on Windows Update it has to be approved by HTC and carriers.

as i said on the front page DO NOT play with those settings, as yes they might improve instantly, but over time it makes it all worse.

my old ITA rom had GoogleMaps embedded. Elite doesn't have it. I tried to download but the actual version is different from the one that was installed by default: smaller buttons, no satellite view and no "my position" function. Why doesn't Elite come with gMaps?

Yeah this doesn't have Gmaps, but i downloaded it on my diamond using the IE browser (seems to need a mobile browser) and to me its exactly the same as the included one, large and with Sat view... try installing it again.

Also more importantly does anyone know how this rom (which i am now using along with a few other tweaks) compares with the new Rom 1.37.707.1 ??

Rom is 1.34 WWE and is indeed rather slow in reaction, though no bugs out of the box so far (tested between 1 and 4 AM when arriving home :D)

Errr no it doesn't help i dont think, if it does i haven't noticed much difference, but i live in the UK, so something getting warm is your hand is a good thing with our weather lol (although it has been warm recently). But yeah does mean things are running less efficiently when it heats up like that, but that's what CPU's do i guess, lol unless you want to stick a fan on there hahaha

That's nice, removing TF3d and using the old HTC home instead (which honestly would be much easier to use) would free up a lot of space and ram.

As for additional dictionaries and input languages, they already seem to be included in the european rom (which elite 1.0 is built on), they're just not in the menu:

I tried to get Norwegian to work, but the info is somewhat thin. Seems to be possible to edit the registry to add all included languages though, would be great for elite 1.1!

No, the "old" radio definetely is NOT better.
I get less 3G/HSDPA fallback to GPRS/EDGE, 3G connections are definetely more stable now.
I'm on Vodafone Germany.

Can you confirm that the memory leak will be solved? As you know, killbiotouch.exe is not bringing the end solution and I run you V1.0 now with a program memory leak of approax 5mb/15 minutes. Need to soft reset each 1-2 hours to stop leaking and stopping applications.

So, I got my Diamond two days ago, and installed the Elite 1.0 ROM right away. Yesterday, after leaving it to charge for a few hours, I unplugged the power cord and the device rebooted automatically! Today, the same thing happened after connecting to WMDC via Bluetooth. Anyone else experiencing anything similar?

UPDATE: I've just tried connecting via BT again, and this time my PC rebooted! Now I can connect without problems again.

yes an update, its going to take a day or two longer, im in the process of porting a newer kernel then the AKU 1.1.6 which improves the stability a little bit more...

Have you tried Developer-SPL on your device?
I've not experienced any of these problems but No. 1 definitely sounds like you're using protected SPL
