After having difficulties connecting my old SX66 to the AT&T internet and many, many calls with Customer Service, and checking/rechecking my internet settings, I have learned that my old SIM card/account is the problem. I never migrated to either the Cingular or the new AT&T networks (I am still using the old AT&T SIM card). I was told in order to gain access to their internet again, I would need to migrate to the new system. This would mean a new device, since (I'm told) the new SIM cards will not work in the old devices.

Now, here are my questions... [B]Is anyone still using an SX66, one of the old AT&T/Cingular network SIM cards, and *still* able to connect to the internet??? On the other hand, is there anyone currently using a new AT&T SIM card in a SX66 and are able to access the internet???

I really would like to gain access again, but would hate to have to buy new equipment, accessories, etc., in order to do it. Since, I'm finding that the Customer Service reps are famous for giving different answers (others kept telling me my device was corrupt, so I bought another used SX66, but still have the same problem), I want to check with everyone here.

Thanks so much for listening and responding.

Debbie

I'm not familiar with that particular device, but I can tell you that the old blue SIMs are still working fine, as well as mMode (the blue equivalent of MEdia Net). You probably just need to configure your device with the mMode settings:

APN: proxy (as opposed to wap.cingular)
Username and Password: (leave blank)

Also, the current SIMs should work fine in your device, as long as it is unlocked.

The Blue network uses mMode while the Orange/New Blue network uses MediaNet for GPRS access. The SIM card just points to the operator and both networks are still active. If you can not access gprs then it is likely a problem with your phone. Try the sim in a different phone.

* Of course there is an exception to the rule and that is when you initialize a new (replacement) SIM card (Yes, the old AT&T Wireless SIM's are still available on Ebay at a reasonable price) it resets the account in the system at The New at&t and will sometimes correct hard-to-detect problems.
