I was wondering if it is possible to connect to the internet from a dial up connection on the T-mobile Dash. I have setup a dial up connection that i have connected to on my computer but when I try to connect on the smartphone I get an error message

Do you have a data plan with your Dash?

unless your phone came with a modem in it, no. you cant use dial up. you would have to plug a phone line into your phone somewhere...and frankly i see no phone jack =)

sorry bout your luck

Er - umm
I don't this that is correct - I have a Moto V188 with USB cable. I would connect the cable and the computer would recognize the V188 as a modem. I would dial my ISP via a wireless call and connect. I don't know at this time if the Dash can do this but for sure some phones can act as modems and make wireless data calls. In fact the Dash has the option in call features to forward if a data call is active so it must be possible. I personally use a data plan but I am 99% sure that you can set the Dash up for dial up.

I haven't tried it, but these instructions look like what you want:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/smartphone/connections.mspx

In short, go to Settings->connections->dial up, and continue from there....

I'm not sure it would work, but I, like the OP, believe it should. All the capabilities are there. This would actually be quite brilliant considering the high cost of data.
