Get Schaps Advanced Config. Newest version is around 2.1, but the old ones all had the option to hide sim contacts too.

I don't think so...try to softreset (or power down) ...the SIM contact will be visible again.
I think that there is a startup program that recovers some registry keys.
Something similar happens also with deveicelock. If you use the device lock, the backlight timing is always set to 10seconds. If you change it, it works with the new timing until the next devicelock. (then it will be resetted to 10 seconds)

Had the same problem...
NikiSimFix.cab (program runs on startup) fixed this for me (probably imports a reg key on startup).
Cheers.

Excellent! It needs just a soft reset after installing

There is also a simpler way, which does not however survive a reset either (but it can be set through the standard menus instead of the registry, and it has the advantage of being easily toggled).
If - like me - you are synching your contacts from Outlook and do not want to see the SIM contacts, the easiest is to assign a category in Outlook to all your contacts, and then simply filter the All People view by that category. All your contacts are still there, and the SIM contacts disappear...

Doesn`t work for me. tried installing it to Device and Internal Storage performed a soft reset after both but sim contacts are still displayed. I think the only way to get this working is to delete all contacts from the sim then they definitely won`t show up.
**Edit** It seems to have worked after a second soft reset, brilliant

I've tried several tools and it keeps on coming back with me as well. Why oh why are such basic things so very badly implemented?
I'm using an O2 XDA Orbit 2 which I believe is basically a rebadged HYC Touch Cruise.

I'm using the HTC Touch Cruise itself (with the latest official WM6.1 ROM) and it doesn't work for me either. :(

I have the no sim contacts working using a cab, which is fine for the contacts list.
But is there something to be done, so while sending a sms, it doesnt query the sims contacts when typing a name in the to: box?

yjeanrenaud from pocketpc.ch made a small program, who helps to hide the SIM contacts permanently.
The problem with the SIM contacts is, that manila resets the registry value ShowSIM = 1 when it starts.
The attached cab installs a program to \windowsa\startup who changes the registry value 90s after the start of the system, so that manila won't reset it again ...
