[Baronic]

As i do not know how to dump a rom, i had to go through a great deal of trouble to actually obtain this rom from my country's official distributer.

It seems that HTC will no longer be offering rom downloads on its website. Its all going to be locked according to region, as such, for any future rom updates, u must go to your distributer to get your device flashed. (at least, this is how it is with Malaysia).

Anyway, after many many many hours of talking to the distributer, i managed to obtain the rom. So here it is!

Does sound a bit odd. My uploads to Rapidshare aren't ever that bad?

How about files.ww.com? That's almost never picked up by things like Websense, so it's good for people downloading at their office ;)

Just flashed it today, so cant really tell u yet. Except that for the black icon issue, some people seem to have it some dont. or rather so far 1/10 people (literally) do not have the black icon issue

Rapidshare's 100mb too isn't it? You may find that the upload eventually fails (wasting 5 hours!) if your file is 102Mb.

to flash, hard-spl first, then flash. go do your homework and read up. memory leaking i havent got chance to check. device getting hot is normal, its the build of the phone, the material use, heat not insulated well enough. same problem with D810 and HTC P3600i when i used them. its not the phone. its the plastic

And so it goes full circle...... we all couldn't wait to get our Diamonds, so we all had to deal with a buggy early release of the rom, now those same people (me included) can't wait to get the new (maybe more stable) rom. I've waited a couple of weeks to get a decent rom, a couple more hours isn't going to make any difference.

My Diamond originally came with the HK WWE Rom. That recognised and configured Vodafone UK without any problems, so you shouldn't have any problem with the Connection Settings app in this newer ROM...

Trying to install this ROM but it doesn't work. It stays stuck at 0% on the device itself and on the ROM Update utility, after around 5 minutes or so, I get an install error.
Recovery is no problem but it sucks I can't install it.
I installed the Elite ROM before, maybe this could be the problem.
My device is a WWW device, maybe this is another problem, not sure.
Hard-SPL should work fine though.

Strange, in that this ROM posted doesn't have any T-Mobile UK settings in. I used the cab below as an easy option to manually setting up the connection myself.

Thanks, I overlooked that the Elite ROM is signed, so I used the wrong Hard-SPL, my bad.
This solved my problem, I just updated my Diamond with the Asia ROM and it worked. Thanks again!!! :)

No, I got my set from Singtel with ROM 1.35.871.5WWE. And yes, it is an official rom which was obtained by our fellow forumer Boranic from an Malaysian distributor. I gave my intial review at PPCSG under nick "Lowshock". IMHO it is definitely worth updating..:D

thats was the first thing i did when flashed my diamond :) one problem i see since i have got this diamond thingy, it doesn't play any movie i load onto it,tcpmp doesn't get install at all gives error msg no matter what version it won't install therefore avi files can not be played nor i was able to play any movie in windows media player,i don't have enough time to go through registries and look for problems :(

HardSPL is needed to unlock the CID of the phone, so that you can flash your device with all kinds of un-official ROMs (like those made by our experts here).
This particular Diamond ROM is an official ROM from HTC, so no need to meddle with the HardSPL. Just run the ROM update utility which connected to activeSync.

Hello jerison.. Welcome to XDA..:)

Hard-SPL is tool to bypass CID locking of device to vendors and region. It allows you to flash any official rom or custom rom to your device.
But since this rom is a South East Asia WWE ROM which is our region, you don't need Hard-SPL for it. Just activesync to your PC and run the RomUpdateUtility.exe and follow the instructions on your PC screen, and it should be fine.

Do backup your PIM files (i.e. Contacts, emails, SMSes, appointments) using Resco backup or PIMBackup and restore them after flashign the new rom.

WARNING: DO NOT BACKUP AND RESTORE PROGRAM FILES AND SYSTEM FILES WHEN YOU UPDATE A NEW ROM. IT CAN CAUSE YOUR SYSTEM TO BE UNSTABLE OR SYSTEM FAILURE!

As what Swiftblade said, I think it is not possible as it will conflict. You can only restore the contacts, emails etc. Cannot restore system, program files etc.

I'm not sure coz I am using Resco Backup.
Just let your pda sync and your contacts etc will be in your pda. As for programs, you have to setup them up again from scratch.

If you press "Restore" then you can choose what do you want to restore. I would recommend only PIM (ie. Contacts, messages, calendar) and nothing else.

Not necessary as the flashing of ROM does not affect the internal storage at all. But you can keep a copy for your future use though if you so wishes... Cheers

which SPL version are u using if its not version 1.40 then it will not work to see the version just (volume down+action button+ reset ) and see which version u have if its 1.30 then upgrade to developers hard spl version 1.40 and also if u have the 1.40 version then the best thing u can do is restart the computer and try again here are some solutions:

1. use 1.40 hard SPL to see if u have it (volume down+action button+ reset )

2. if u have 1.40 hard spl and can not upgrade to any ROM then try to RESTART your computer and try again

3. Do an upgrade in another computer if u cannot do methods 1 and 2 above or boot to another operating system ( to XP if u had used vista and vice versa)

i had this issue briefly with a different ROM, after a soft reset it was fine though... so give that a try if you haven't already. mine has not messed up since.

Of course the Touch Diamond is a WM6.1 device with many advantages like a huge 3rd party software pool or good Office/Exchange Server capabilities but still, I think that Touchflo3D or the FINGER touch operation of the Touch Diamond is NOT good at all. Using the stylus, things look different of course but no matter if I compare Touchflo3D to the iPhone or now to the Samsung F480, the feeling is always the same: why is Tochflo3D working THAT crappy on ALL HTC devices and why the heck do some people actually like it(how it works, not how it looks)?

Honestly guys, HTC may have wanted to offer something similar to the iPhone but so far, the result is ridiculous, even hideous. Today for the first time(and I hated to do this because I really like Touchflo3D), I deactivated Touchflo3D and used the Touch Diamond with the Stylus. What a relief, back to the "good old days" when WM devices worked like they're supposed to work...with a stylus.

I love touch operation but what HTC offers is C.R.A.P.. It may not be their fault since after the iPhone introduction every major phone maker seems to put one or more touch operated phones on the market but PLEASE dear HTC guys: better no Touchflo3D than how it is right now.

Today I also let an O2 employee play around with my Touch Diamond, he was shocked how bad Touchflo3D worked(he has a Touch Dual himself and funny enough, the Touchflo without "3D" on his device worked less sluggish). He also agreed that he couldn't offer his customers such a device without having to lie about how good it works, he hopes that the O2 Diamond will have a better Touchflo3D implementation but to be honest, I seriously doubt it.

Btw: the issues with Touchflo3D aren't just sluggishness and weird behaviour but also the lack of a certain "constant and fluent" reaction.

What a relief, back to the "good old days" when WM devices worked like they're supposed to work...with a stylus.

I love touch operation but what HTC offers is C.R.A.P.. It may not be their fault since after the iPhone introduction every major phone maker seems to put one or more touch operated phones on the market but PLEASE dear HTC guys: better no Touchflo3D than how it is right now.

Today I also let an O2 employee play around with my Touch Diamond, he was shocked how bad Touchflo3D worked(he has a Touch Dual himself and funny enough, the Touchflo without "3D" on his device worked less sluggish). He also agreed that he couldn't offer his customers such a device without having to lie about how good it works, he hopes that the O2 Diamond will have a better Touchflo3D implementation but to be honest, I seriously doubt it.


bro,you said something that i would say too, n ye this time htc made me feel like i hv bought some ETEN device,they release something and release 100s of roms same time so you pick what you want,looks like there going to be a roms competition between us,anyways
i have got an interesting issue here with my diamond that i can not play movie unless its made with diamond,i mean no matter wat format i play it doesn't play and ye it will not install tcpmp media player either,i have switched to all different roms and back to euro 1.37 for now but that problem still there,no one knows wat it is so i leave as it is.
how about call quality ? sounds like speaker is ripped very bad call quality on mine atleast.
in rom 1.37 gsm reception is very small only two small bars all the time and if i change settings from auto to gsm then H runs away and E takes over with full reception most of the time but i want to use HSDPA not edge so i switched bands back to auto mode.
battery is the only biggest improvment in this rom i am so happy that i don't have to charge over and over again,atleast something + there :D

To those who are stuck on 0% when flashing the new ROM:
You need the HardSPL-Developer Edition (Unsigned-Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex, SPL 1.40 OliNex).
After unzipping the downloaded file, you'll notice the RUU_Signed.nbh having a modified date of 6/15/2008 5:04PM. That's the Developer edition. If your RUU_Signed.nbh is timed at 5:08PM, then it's not.

When you're at the tri-colour boot screen, make sure the SPL is 1.40 and not 1.30.
