Since my diamond will be ariving today i wanted to ask peoples opinion on the (included) screen protector.
- Is it necesarry you think?
- Does it make the screen better (i read somewhere the screen is staticy and with the protector its better
- Did anyone not use it, then apply it and decide it was better/worse? Or use it, then remove it? I'm looking for someone who might be able to compare directly the difference with/without it.
- Does it look odd?
- Can you tell the screen protector is applied?
- Does it have any negative impact on the screen - make it less clear, or make the touch less sensative?
I'm sure everyone will have their own opinion, but i would like to make a decision right away while the screen is clean, and not after a few days when it gets really greasy :)

I put mine on right after I unpacked and I do not regret ... It`s almost invisible. Screen is clear ... readable. Putting on was easy. I do not want to risk scratching my screen :D

Diamond just arived.. i havnt peeled the front plastic off yet - dont worry i'm not one of those people who lets it stay there till it looks like shit!
I'll just wait to see if there are any more comments. But right now i'm leaning towards using screen protector.
and btw.. this phone is amazing - pictures and videos dont do it justice!

Lucky so and so:p:D...congrats mate...now i just have to wait for mine:(...as for the screen protector??, id definitely use one. I have one on my ipod touch even though its supposedly scratch resistant. I was under the impression that the Diamond screen was also scratch resistant:confused:

- Is it necessary you think?
Yes, I would definitively recommend to use it.
- Does it make the screen better (i read somewhere the screen is staticy and with the protector its better)
Would not say the screen looks better with it but it is certainly better than scratching your screen.
- Did anyone not use it, then apply it and decide it was better/worse? Or use it, then remove it? I'm looking for someone who might be able to compare directly the difference with/without it.
I used it right away after opening the pack so I cannot say.
- Does it look odd?
Not at all - after some days of use it is now like a second skin to the screen - I almost don't notice it anymore.
- Can you tell the screen protector is applied?
As chaos42 said, it fits perfectly.
- Does it have any negative impact on the screen - make it less clear, or make the touch less sensitive?
I have not noticed any negative impact so far after 1 week of use.

remove it - wash it ... use dust remover ... ... since Diamond has no bevels at rear of the screen applying is even easier that with my previous devices ... how to do it ? simply take Credit Card ... put first third of the protector onto screen. From other side put Credit Card and start pushing it while rolling protector onto screen. there should be no bubbles then.

I have aerosol air and a glass cloth to clean the diamond.

Hehe i usually get my brother to do these sort of things for me:p...hes much better than i am.
Was the screen protector sticky under the side you put on the phone??. If it isnt then one thing i noticed when my brother put my screen protector on my old SE P990i was he dropped a few drops of water on the side of the protector that goes on the phone...so you can easily slide it about till you have it perfect etc.

dont dry it, just let the water excess drop off it naturally then stick it on the phone...like i said in my earlier post, it will make the protector easier to slide about to get the perfect fit. Once you have then seal it down with a credit card pushing the air and excess water off the side. You probably will still have a few air bubbles but over time they will disappear.

great advice thanks!!
I got a couple of tiny bubles i'm working towards the side of the screen and out. That should keep me entertained for the next 10 mins lol.
Almost 100% bubble free now :)

Hmm i think i can see water marks underneath..
I got to run out now.. not even any time to install anything on it
I think i'll give it one more shot when i get back. At least for now i can take it with me and it wont get trashed!

I hate screen protectors - have always taken them off after 24 hours on every HTC device I have ever had. They usually tint the screen, make it too reflective and reduce the sensitivity and accuracy of the device.
However, I read the above comments and thought I'd give it a go anyway (same as I do with each device).
Blow me - it turns out that for once the HTC screen protector is excellent. You do not notice it there at all.
Very impressed!

I ordered a Brando UltraClear screenprotector because I heard great things about these things. It turned out to be true for me.
I always hated screenprotectors because they dimmed my screen and were ugly. This one you can't see and the screen is as bright as without! Excellent! :D

i fiddled and fiddled with it, but its a mess. I'll order a new one i think.
Biggest complaint so far for me is with touch flow u keep accidentally clicking stuff. Its a big pain in the ass. And its not because i'm clumsy, its just a combination of poor responsivness and bad timeout to calculate what you want to do.

If you mean the responsivness of the touschscreen, this can be adjusted in the registry. The responsivness of the touchflo3d itself on the other hand we have to live with :o
I've tried several of the tweaks from here on the forum, but it doesn't change it significantly... Not that I'm not happy with te phone... because I am :D

yeah i increased the touch sensativity.. i think 0xF0 is too much.
Anyway some other tweak hung the device on boot, so i had to hard reset.. here we go again!

use a screen protector. there is nothing that i hate more than a scratch on the screen.
with a screen protector you are going to be more courageous in pocking, pushing and sliding your finger on the screen and therefor you'll get better results and the screen it is going to seem more "responsive".
without the fear of scratching it you are going to use it better;)

honestly, how long are you gonna keep this phone? half a year? why bother...
i have had like 9 or 10 htc pda's and phones from htc, i haver never even considered to put on a screen protector, its like people putting on seat covers in a new car... enjoy it while it is new.
i have never had any noticeble scratches in my screens but it may be because i never put my keys and my phone in the same pocket.

I've always used screen protectors, specifically the Martin Fields ones (though others do well too, I'm sure).
Not only do I feel safer with the screen protected, I find the screen far more usable with a better feel to it.
I'll see how good the protector T-Mob supply with the compact IV is, and unless it's terrible, will probably stick with that.

I removed mine after a week when the novelty wore off, and the dust began to settle around the edges of the protector.
