I have made a ROM based on NEO plugin (from Shadow) for Vox. I created this ROM starting from a stable version of Shadow ROM. This ROM is only in english.

Great ROM LeFab47. I have been using it for couple of hours. no issues so far.
somehow the battery status icon is not a smart one its a static icon, if it had displayed the actually charge left, that would have been great !!

pocket ie default page is missing.
power button is not working.
start menu items have invisible text.

if you will disable smarttoolkit, there is no text in start menu items.
Much slower as compared to 6.1. clearely visible while you change start menu to list view.
Looks odd when you use phonealarm skin on home page.

everything can be neglected but speed is much slower compared to 6.1

great rom, very pleased with it so far and i`ve been running it for a day.

sorry cant agree about the speed because i find it much faster than gonzo`s 6.1 which i was running previously.

the text does disappear when using the standard start menu probably because the text is white so should be easily fixed.

any good themes available for this rom ??

i dont know why people hate smarttoolkit so much. i dont see any issues of it in this NEO ROM.
and i also feel this ROM is faster than WM 6.1 ROM.

For me power button works like charm.
still no issues so far.... great work "FileBurned"

chandanbs : battery icon is static, i can't modify it, it's integrated into NEO plugin. If somebody wants to develop a plugin to make it dynamic... ;)

If somebody want to disable SmartToolKit, delete "SmartToolkit StartUP" in "\Windows\StartUp"

insanecon : pocket ie default page is "default0409.html", you can modify it if you want in registry : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs:home_0409. Power button works for me, sorry.

Awesome .. I look forward to trying your new theme. I'm using the theme from Shadow Mike. One of his WM7 themes. Everything seems to work great. Also all the NEO Dock stuff works also.

Hi,

1 - I'll try my headphones later, i don't have it with me at this time...

2 - NEO plugin is heavy. To increase speed, i have upgraded netcf2 to netcf3.5 and delete sliding sound, i don't know if i can make more... Maybe use tornado power control to overclock your processor a little (included in rom)

3 - You have to install another soft, i don't remember the name, post a question on the forum. Maybe i'll try to add ie and outlook from 6.1 rom if i can.

If you have v0.7 with fix, you don't have to upgrade to v0.8.

- MyFaves come from Shadow rom, you must have a MyFaves account to use it on T-Mobile Shadow
- My5 (created by Rinku) use MyFaves but allows us to use MyFaves without a MyFaves account

In my rom, i included MyFaves (official form Shadow) and My5 to use this application without an account.

If I may say, i love this ROM and just the overall look and feel of it, havent had any issues this far so all is GOOD :D

I just have 1 problem and its really driving me insaine, I use Mxit alot, and with every single ROM ive tested this far had the same problem. I even started my own thread called "JAVA Driving me Bonkers".

Ive got quite alot of contacts in my contact list in Mxit, but i'm unable to see the last 3 or 4 contacts at the bottom, it also has an inline edit function, but this little block where i'm spose to put in my text is exactly right there where the last 3 or 4 contacts are at the bottom of the screen and i'm unable to see the bar to type.

If you have time, please see if you can get a fix for it, I'll be more than willing to test whatever result you come up with!!

You don't really need to extract the emulator ROM in order to get a clean one if you have doudbts about the stability of what you extracted. Dr. Gonzo's 6.1 ROM is made from an emulator ROM and it is rock solid. You can use that one and work on it. He kept it quite clean just because of this reason... so guys like you can cook their own ROMs.

Another good new : i have succesfully ported wm6.1 on my Vox, i did not find bugs yet. And this wm6.1 rom included the new XIP20202 !

You could disable smarttoolkit by delete "SmartToolKit" file in \Windows\Startup

This rom is a beta WM6.1, with same oem packages than v0.8 (WM6.0).
SmartToolkit is not entirely compatible with WM6.1, i'll remove it in my next rom.
This rom was created just to test if there are bugs in my port of WM6.1.

Maybe i will ask you what soft you want in this future wm6.1 rom. ;)

Just a clean version of WM6.1 (emulator images from microsoft) with new XIP 20202.

NEO is not yet ported on WM6.1, i have a lot of bugs with this plugin on WM6.1.

- Tornado PowerControl 2.0b4 deleted, not necessary, new xip is faster enough

It is your preference, but don't make everyone do what you want to do.

I think it would be better if you remove microsoft voice command from ROM. if anybody wants, they can install seperately and its easily available on net.

This way atleast people can use their preferred voice dialers.

PS: from startup, it cant be deleted, it again comes back once deleted after soft reset.

I am sure you must have done something wrong. I said Windows/Startup. You must have deleted the shotcut from Start Menu. I did this and I can use the original voice tag voicedial.

i tried it with Resco. Going into \windows\startup directory and removing Voice Command.lnk, even i went back in \Windows directory and tried to remove all voice command related files DLL, LNK etc but it did not allow.

Then just deleting startup LNK file, i rebooted, one thing happend: This time Voice Command did not run when pressed voice button but nothing happend as well. and again when i checked in startup folder, Voice Command.lnk was there.

I also tried digging registry by changing values pointing to VITO Voice Dialer in HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Voice Command but nothing happened.

Same things when i do with Dr. Gonzo 6.1 , works fine. Why because there is no hard coded Microsoft Voice Command there. You can manage at your own.

I don't mean to be impolite, but what I said works for me. I get WM6.0 original voice tag dialing and I am using the exact same ROM as you. So I MUST conclude that you are doing something wrong. Again, please do not feel offended because I do not mean to offend you. It just seems odd to me that this does not work for you.

Run VC Setup, turn it off and unbind it from any buttons. Reboot, go into \Windows\Startup and remove the LNK. Reboot.

You can't really delete the required files as they are in the ROM. You can however overwrite them with 0 byte files to recover the space. So either that or perhaps a ROM without these can be cooked for you and others to use.

I tried installing and removing MVC 1.6 but after that nothing works, just says Voice Command error. I think it is interagted somewhere in ROM or i am not able to find the correct thing to change. :confused:

Also nothing is in Startup.

On other ROMs everything works fine.

In this ROM, you can only use MVC.

hit the start button, then go to applications. Once in there, you will see an icon for my5. Click it. Then push the right soft key and it will say edit 1, edit 2, etc. Thats when you change each one. Did that help?

I made a lot of tests for NEO on WM6.1, and i have bugs with CMessages and CMyFaves, NEO dll (based on SYS WM6.0) are not compatible with new WM6.1 DLL. I think i can't edit them, because of differences between this two systems 6.0 and 6.1. Sorry.

I like CMessages and CMyFaves, without this, it's not really NEO complete interface...

Maybe i will release a last final version with WM6.0, with Opera and others, and release a new version based on WM6.1 without CMessages and CMyFaves, if somebody want to test it.

iconbar included would be nice - saves installing it manually!

1 - Latest available IE - opera is in beta and not yet out for smartphone so I would wait.

2 - don't send/receive many sms's so not bothered.

3 - My vox never works 100% if I overclock it.

4 - current theme (FreddyIpone2) is nice.

5 - MVC included, unless there is something better.


After running the rom for a few days my vox started running very slow and would not display any contacts, I did a hard reset and restored a backup and it was fine for a few days then I had to do it again.

Not sure waht the cause is, has anyone else had a similar problem?

Its in the settings for SmartToolKit - Start -> Control Panel - Auto Keylock

The Analog Clock is full screen and you can set a title and background image.

As far as the rom is concerned, I have been using it extensively for a week now (hard core text messager here!) and haven't had any major problems at all. Only problem I did notice was minor. At first I could get to the alarm clock by just hitting the center button on the D pad, now when I hit that button, nothing happens. To get to the alarm clock I had to go hunt it down in the settings area, and there it doesn't give all the features like which day to alarm, etc. Tried resetting twice, but no fix. Not even sure if that problem is related to your rom or not. Other than that, have really enjoyed using it and want to thank you very much! Now where do I send the money? LOL

1. Latest version of IE - da one on WM6.1. As a secondary option, it would be great to have Opera Mini pre installed with the hack to connect without asking for permission :)

2. Having used threaded messaging with WM6.1, I prefer the old style messaging much more - perhaps coz it was poorly implemented and was too slow and heavy

3. I personally don't use it, but i guess its a good option for ppl who do

Okay, here's how to add links to ur fav apps on the Neo Homescreen (All credits to Freddy Reyes for creating these CABs)

Install FR Shadow Menu.CAB - this will give u an additional menu called 'CLinks2', with some preset shortcuts in them

Then install and run CHomeConfig.CAB - this will allow u to tweak the CLinks2 to ur heart's satisfaction :)

I have one question, is it possible to enlarge the caller image if the call comes in?

I have a Nokia where the caller image is nearly over the whole screen size and I like this.
With the caller image it is faster to know who is calling.

Ok, i'm testing a new rom, always based on WM6.0, with NEO. I want to make a "final" neo rom (on wm6.0) before continuing my work on a neo wm6.1 rom.
My plans :
- add tornado power control (216 mhz by default, a little overclock but suffisiant, for heavy applications like gps "route 66")
- keep Microsoft Voice Commander, i don't know a better soft (vitovoice commander is not a freeware)
- keep actual IE version (IE from wm6.1 is not compatible with wm6.0)
- add opera mini ? if you have a cab, tell me
- keep Camel Theme (default shadow neo theme without bugs) and add a link to a lot of skins (red, green, black, etc)
- add a NEO camel theme with iconbar
- add Automatic Keylock (automatic keyboard lock), if you don't use smarttoolkit (disabled by default)
- add chome configurator and clinks

wm6.1 threading messages is not compatible with wm6.0, do you know another free software ?

I can't add this option (alarm with center button) because i can't edit dll files, it's hard coded (wm6.1 has this features). I must wait neo shadow 2 interface, to port neo on wm6.1 and obtain this function.

1-unplug your phone (usb to pc)
2-keep press on "camera button", at the same time, press "power" button (quick press), keep press on "camera button", the phone boot, if it's ok, you can see a "bootloader" menu (green/blue/red)
3-plug your usb cable
4-download my rom, unzip, and flash again your phone

It should work (first boot after flash is very long).

Extract this files from a shadow rom :
- all chome folders in SYS
- Confetticore folder in SYS
- all chome_* png or jpg files
- cmhome.home.xml
- fe.dat
- all registry entries required by neo

Fireburned: I'm using wm6.1 ROM by you alongwith homescreen designed by you. First of all, after using other's rom I must say your ROM is better and looks clear not noisy. I've faced very less errors in compared to other's rom.
Well, I want to say how can colorful iconbar show on all screens not just homescreen. After having such superb homescreen it makes me feel bad to see again black and white signals, battery etc iconbars in other screens like dialing screen, start screen etc.
I'm facing a prb after installing it whenever I switch dataconnection it shuts down unexpectedly. Can you add fring into this.

I can not DL this ROM after few MB i get time out and even I try again I can't get it to DL

Ok, i'm testing a new rom, always based on WM6.0, with NEO. I want to make a "final" neo rom (on wm6.0) before continuing my work on a neo wm6.1 rom.
My plans :
- add tornado power control (216 mhz by default, a little overclock but suffisiant, for heavy applications like gps "route 66")
- keep Microsoft Voice Commander, i don't know a better soft (vitovoice commander is not a freeware)
- keep actual IE version (IE from wm6.1 is not compatible with wm6.0)
- add opera mini ? if you have a cab, tell me
- keep Camel Theme (default shadow neo theme without bugs) and add a link to a lot of skins (red, green, black, etc)
- add a NEO camel theme with iconbar
- add Automatic Keylock (automatic keyboard lock), if you don't use smarttoolkit (disabled by default)
- add chome configurator and clinks

Do you want others softwares in my rom ?

-and I would like a tab with the last used applications. This is what I really miss to either WM6.1 or the 'classic' homescreens. Can you make that?

wm6.1 threading messages is not compatible with wm6.0, do you know another free software ?

Hi. Great job man. Perfect work. But I have a little bug on my device with this ROM. On my keyboard (qwerty) in first line of buttons when i press button with "." in sms mode devise shows me "q", and on others buttons too, in "q"-"w", "w"-"e", "e"-"r" and etc. but in second and third rows everything is ok. What is the matter ? Maybe you can fix it and add on final version of ROM or creat a CAB file for me. Thanks anyway. (Sorry for my english :))

Welcome back.:) Hope you had enjoyable holidays. I have tried both of your roms both are great I didn't find any error and both were very fast. A lot of complements from me.
Currently I am on your WM6.1 rom because I read a thread saying that memory leaks are lower in WM6.1 and battery drainage is also low. Correct me if I am wrong. Also WM6.1 has threaded sms feature and slide theme can be customized with chome configurator.
I hope you start working on WM6.1 soon :D.

My one gripe with 6.0 is that it seems to have a poor memory management as opposed to 6.1. Maybe there were some leaks in the OS or some of the in-built apps, that were fixed with 6.1. I have noticed the same memory leak on all 6.0 ROMs I've used till date.

On the positive side, there are quite a few useful apps that seem to work much better with 6.0 than with 6.1 :)

thats correct. WM 6.1 has two slots 61 and 62 reserved for XIP dlls.. which gives way to more Virtual Memory.
There will nomore be dll crunchs in WM 6.1. Its the biggest reason to go for WM 6.1.

- wm6.1
- sliding panel
- last wm os

neo rom :
- wm6.0
- neo interface (from shadow device)
- more softs than dr gonzo 6.1

The biggest difference is wm6.1/wm6.0 and sliding panel/neo interface

You should try both to make your choice.

No, they are cooked into the ROM. The most you can do is over-write each file using a 0 byte replacement.

I would suggest using frauhottelmann's Lite ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2129066&postcount=1) if you want something without the 3rd party software.

Beta status : because it's my first clean release, built since 2 hours only, and we must test it to have a "FINAL" status :)

Not via registry, however when saving or editing a contact you should have a field that is named "File As" which should let you pick how to store the contact. Just use the application, it's at Shubaroo.com and will fix all your contacts with one swoop.

I dont agree with you. That is HSPL. After HSPL you can flash any coocked rom. With USPL you have to apply each time.;)

Hmmm...interesting. Am not a techie so won't contest that (as a matter of fact, I don't even know wat HSPL means ;))

However, from my personal experience, I can tell that I've gone thru the process of flashing USPL only once - when Dr. Martin Gonzo came out with the first ever cooked ROM for Vox. I've tried almost every ROM on this forum since, and never had to re-flash USPL. It was just a one-time process for me (as mentioned in the USPL sticky here, and also in Gonzo's thread :))

The USPL does *not* permanently CID unlock your phone, like the CID unlocker from imei-check or so.
After you flashed a ROM your phone is again CID locked. Each time you wonna flash a ROM with a different model and/or vendor ID (different from your phone) or a cooked ROM, you must run the USPL again and then flash the ROM.

Vox uSPL can an act like Hard-SPL. If you use uSPL as a Soft-SPL initially to SuperCID the device you can then directly flash uSPL to the device and until you overwrite the SPL with an official ROM, it will stay SuperCID.

To do this, you go through the steps to normally patch the SPL via RAM loading and once this is succesful and you are ready to flash a ROM, instead of flashing the ROM, you can flash patched SPL. This gives you a Soft-SPL which is Hard-SPL that can be over-written.

Thank you. I have found the comm manager. frauhottelmann (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=592660) had a gif animation in his lite roms startup. I have replaced splash.jpg with that gif by renaming it as splash.jpg but it is static.

What is static ? Your gif (renamed jpg) image or other ?
Because, with new xip, i don't know if the second splashscreen (splash.jpg) is shown.

Gif remains static. you are right about first splash screen it remains same green one after that the gif i renamed as splash.jpg appears but gif remains static. Also it is displayed when shut down but static there as well.

I forgotten this... sorry... :

For gifs, you must have an "oemstartup.dll" in windows directory.
And you must edit registry :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Shutdown\1]
"Splash"="\\Windows\\splash.jpg"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Startup\1]
"Splash"="\\Windows\\splash.jpg"
with your "*.gif" file.

I have problem connecting my Vox with Jeyo Mobile Companion..
Before flashing, backed up all my contacts and sms using this app (i was running NEO ROM v0.9):)..after flashing with v1.0..Jeyo is not able to detect my phone..:confused:

P.S : Fireburned, does the new v1.0 beta has anything like inbuilt firewall..i dont know exactly wat to say:(

wm 6.1 is better for using with hands free parrot CK3100. In wm6 are contacts where is more numbers(example 3 numbers at one contact) shows 3 same contact with numbers.

I don't think Windows Mobile has an inbuilt soft like firewall/anitivirus.

Where can i the Fav 5 edit. My Nummber is +49 xxxx xxxxxx
The Number is to long for the Menu to edit it.
Is there a way to becom it in German?

Yes, i'll release a final version to correct a bug with sprite backup and add latest java version, maybe VjDialer too.

Numbers ? For CMyFavesMy5 ? In "start menu\contacts\my5" or registry (edit 3 entries).
VjDialer is installed on storage card by default, it's a problem ?

please don't include apps who by default start from storage card. I often swap my cards.
(iexplore temp files etc is ofcourse no problem)


something else:
I'm using the VOX-OC with tornado 1.4 by prajith.
I noticed that if I do "End all applications" in Application Manager, TPC will STAY running!
Before, when I used TPC 2.0b4 it would always close.
So I would prefer 1.4. It works flawlessly.
Added to that, the configuration tool of prajith is great and easy to set the speeds you want for your device!

Hi,

You can download Freddy's iphone2 theme on his site, i'll keep default camel skin, i'm sure there is no bug with it, and i want a "stable" final rom.
I can't add two different themes in my rom, because theme's images are stored in windows folder.
If you want to try severals freddy themes, you must uninstall the old one before install the new one.

Hi,
i updated this ROM & its COOL!!

But I have a small problem.

I took back up of contacts & msgs with Jeyo Mobile Companion 2.1
it was in .xml format

but after updating this ROM , the phone is not connecting with Jeyo mobile.

Can anyone help me.??

I am new to this :(

Is there any other back up program with which i can restore the .xml files which has my messages & contacts??

I didn't test Jeyo mobile, maybe you have to reconfigure it with your vox.

Just one question folks and I do apologize if this is answered elsewhere, but how do I get full numbers into Cmyfavs? I can only enter 10 digits when all the numbers I know are 11+! Have I missed something obvious here?

I have had the same problem with the beta. But in the final is a new Dialer where the problem is solved.
I have no time to test it out.
